My review is from an educator's view as well as a former employee. Upon being hired here, I was told that many changes were being made and to bare with them as they find their footing. Quite naturally it's understandable to change the procedures of a business if you see other ways of it working better. I quickly found out that the teachers are very overworked and unhappy. Whenever teachers feel used they only give half effort...I did it! I'm sorry but a degreed teacher does not deserve $10.50 per hour when they have over 10 years experience. Ellen is the owner and her inability and dull effort to connect with the parents is killing the business. She does not know how to communicate and have compassion towards the parents and children. The ethics of this company should be questioned greatly and furthermore the school as a whole needs new management. As long as Ellen is over the company it will not grow. Parents need to see ethical practices with integrity and love towards their children. Only certain parents are happy and the others are miserable. I ranked a daycare and a private school and the amount of money coming into the school is more than enough to take care of in house issues. And also, for the future, I hope they learn what real childcare meanss. Anybody can run a business but to teach children you must become much more soft and loving in your approach.

My children attended LCAA, and we were proud to be associated with them! Curriculum, staff, environment were top notch.

This is an update to my original review as of 5/16/2024…read more Miss Bloomingdale's continues to be such a great school for our youngest daughter. She is now 5, and in the Pre-K/Kindergarten program, and just loves all her teachers there. Miss Chere is clearly one of her favorites. And even though she is not in Miss Chere's class anymore, she always wants to make sure I take her to Miss Chere's classroom so she can say hi to her and give her a hug. But all the teachers continue to be great. And Miss Bloomingdale's as an institution is really an excellent value. For the combination of care, education and tuition rates...they are well worth it. And it's evident that they do the best they can to keep their tuition rates as reasonable as possible while still being able to provide a quality education and stay in business in this highly competitive environment. This is a locally-owned, family-run business that I'm proud to support, and I genuinely feel they have been overall a better fit for our family than other daycares/schools in the area that are most likely cookie cutter franchises -- and more expensive.

From day 1, the staff has shown a nervous and at times, an overprotective mother that this was the right place for our son. Little things such as walking into the building, and EVERY staff member that you encounter says good morning to your child and addresses him by name (yes, even people that are not/nor has been his teacher); it gives you a sense of family. Miss Bloomingdale's molds your child into a well-rounded individual. The focus on learning and development - 5 stars; athletics (swim, soccer and dance classes are offered ONSITE) - 5 stars. Learning good manners and respect - 5 stars!!! The teachers and staff - 5 stars. Had we not moved, my son would without a shadow of a doubt would still be there. In fact, I was more emotional and torn up about him leaving. Thank you Miss Bloomingdale's for the huge impact you've had on my family. Will forever be in our hearts!!!

I had a very disappointing experience with the director and office staff…read more The biggest issue was communication. After I spent significant time and effort rearranging my schedule and preparing for enrollment, no one contacted me to let me know that my child's spot was no longer available. Instead, I later learned that other families had been placed ahead of us and the room was full. What frustrates me most is not simply that a spot became unavailablethings happen. The problem is that no one communicated this to me in a timely manner, despite the impact it had on my family. I wasted time, energy, and effort based on information that was no longer accurate. When concerns were raised, I did not feel that management took accountability for the breakdown in communication. Instead of acknowledging the mistake and working toward a solution, I felt dismissed and unsupported. Parents deserve clear, timely communication when making important childcare decisions. I hope the director and office staff improve their communication practices so other families do not experience the same frustration and stress that mine did.

Hours here are poor, and the pay is way too low to make up for it. People who have worked here for years barely make seventeen an hour. The pay here falls under the low income pay, according to federal guidelines. Do better for yourself and find a job with real pay and real benefits.
