The ambiance was clean, cozy and well decorated. The curtido was crisp and perfectly acidic, and I like how they didn't skimp on the serving. No joke I have thought about the food here for 2 days since we stopped for the first time. Super clean business (and bathrooms-score) and staff used plenty of health precautions making you feel comfortable. Large menu, fair prices, delicious quality food with good sized portions and very nice workers. We shared a few pupusas and each was delicious!! Ordered the ham and cheese (our favorite), veggie (second favorite) and pollo queso (excellent and tasted as expected). The 3 totaled around $10. Great tasty value! Restaurant is BYOB also. Woooo! I picked up an order from Las Delicias this weekend. Our entrees were the Carne Asada and Churrasco Guatamalteco, and for apps we got the Jibaritos, yuka with chicharrón and a cheese & chicken pupusa. I also ordered the atol de elote out of curiosity, but unfortunately they forgot to pack it :(. The jibaritos were big- this could def be an entree. My wife and I agreed, the pupusa was the best thing from our dinner. My biggest hangup was the meat from both steaks and from the jibaritos- it was riddled with gristle. I wouldn't do any steak dish from here again. The yuka with garlic oil was my second favorite part of our dinner. Personal opinion: the chicharrón is very greasy and heavy. I don't think they got it wrong; I just learned it's a dish for an iron stomach. Somehow, with all the food we ordered, (about $100 total) my wife and I agreed we both felt disappointed. The food tasted bland. It was lacking flavor or kick, maybe salt? We were also hungry and a bit tipsy, and that typically helps us enjoy a meal more than usual. Maybe it was an off day? We're steps away, but I'm not sure we'd hurry back. Maybe for pupusas. The folks seemed nice and the portions were big. read more

Customer service was good but we weren't impressed with the taste of the pupusas or the yuca frita but the most disappointment was with the horchata. Even the curtido wasnt that good. My friend brought me here. He lives in the area and had been here several times before. I'll start off with the food, it was delicious. I had one of those extra large pupusas with multiple ingredients in it. We also had some additional things, but I can't remember their exact name. In summary, the food was great. I can recommend the food all day, every day. However... the service is what caused me to give this place such a low rating. I just had never experienced something like this before. It started out with me checking in to Yelp and finding a coupon for a free drink or something. I mentioned it to the server and she said she didn't know anything about that. That's fine, it's just a drink, whatever. The real problem was the slowness of services, the inattentiveness, and the lack or regard for my time. The restaurant wasn't at all busy when we went (it was the middle of the week) and there were hardly any patrons inside. I had to ask for a refill, silverware, and simple requests like those multiple times. It was just as bad when it came time to leave. The check took about 20+ minutes and then an additional 10 minutes to get to-go boxes. I had to ask at least three times. Then, after she had said she would honor the Yelp coupon, she ended up charging the drink anyway. Overall, the food was good, but I'm not sure I'd ever willingly return here. Was so excited to finally find a Guatemalan restaurant, came once the experience was ok. Came back today to give it a second try. I'dlove to give it 5 stars but I just can't & I'm disappointed. The food both times was delicious. The portions though were very small. However the service, Omg! They are so slow! I had been to this place many times before and I kind of enjoyed the food. I was in the area yesterday so I decided to stop by for Guatemalan food. We ordered Pork tamales, Pupusas, Chuchitos, yuca frita con chicharrón, atol de elote, horchata and Mexican quesadillas with steak. The tamales were not fresh at all, they tasted like they had been refrigerated for a while. The Pupusas also tasted reheated. The chuchitos, the only thing that gave them flavor was the sauce to top them. They only served us about 4 pieces of the yuca. Atol de elote didn't tasted watered down The service wasn't bad. The girls were attentive but seems as they don't have authority when it comes to the food. It's a chill ambiance, it was early in the day so not busy at all. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Which was especially baffling considering we were one of maybe six people in the restaurant. We debating just leaving because the wait was getting so ridiculous. During this time we had to ask several times for refills on our water. When the food finally came, it was delicious. The pork chops were wonderful, as was the combination platter. However, the server forgot our order of the yuca fries. The food was a little on the pricey side for a hole in the wall restaurant. Typically $15 per plate. The pupusas here were very tasty- recommend the pollo y queso & chicharron y queso. The salsa wasn't my fancy, but I'm used to Mexican-style salsa. This order took a while to arrive even though we live really close by. The order estimate said 40-50 minutes for delivery and it took over an hour and a half. I tried calling to ask about status and they wouldn't answer the phone. The delivery person arrived and he asked my husband to confirm if he was left a tip on the credit card order, which I thought was super rude. Ask your manager, don't ask the customer. read more

I wandered into Las Delicias on New Years Day, looking for something different for dinner takeout. The menu is loaded with traditional Central American foods (mainly Guatemalan and Salvadorian) that are quite intriguing, though there are also Mexican standards and even a kids breakfast menu. The interior of the sizeable restaurant looks pleasant enough, and I may have to dine in next time. There is a counter with some artisan trinkets on sale. I ordered a vegetarian combo platter, as well as a tamal guatemalteco. Most people are familiar with the Mexican-style tamales, but this Guatemalan-style corn tamale with pork is larger and has a more gelatinous density. Now for the sprawling combo platter - starting with the pupusa, a cornmeal patty that is a Salvadorian standard I have enjoyed in other restaurants. I chose the pupusa with loroco filling. Loroco is a vine with edible flowers, though the generous amount of cheese filling makes it the dominant ingredient of the pupusa. There is also a cup of slaw which is traditionally used as a topping for the pupusa. The cheese chilaquil is sort of a quesadilla, with the tortilla smothered with a red salsa and paired with a generous plop of guacamole. The massive platter also comes with sides of a very dense pile of refried beans, a scoop of rice sprinkled with carrots and peas, a cup of spicy green sauce, and fried sweet plantains. The wedges of sweet plantains have a slightly charred exterior that created a delicious caramelized effect. All in all, I was very satisfied with trying out a new (to me) restaurant on the first day of the New Year. read more

Love this place! I have tried the pork and cheese pupusas from here, but they also have veggie. They're pretty big. They come with a pickled cabbage and carrot slaw and a side of salsa (not spicy). The first time trying this restaurant we had pupusas and they are delicious! Have come several times to have caldo de res (beef soup) it's the bomb! Especially in those cold winter months. The food is fresh any day of the week. The pork chops are nice and tender and juicy served with a side of guacamole, rice and sweet plantains that are simply delicious. This place serves authentic Guatemalan food that my father said "transported him to being in Guatemala when he was a young boy." It was such a nice treat for him, as we came on Father's Day and were treated wonderfully by the owner and staff. We ordered different combination platters, to try a little bit of everything (since this was our first time). My plate came with a papusa, chuchito, plantains, rice, black beans, and a potato taquito. The chuchito was by far my favorite thing.....everything is packed with flavor and tasted incredible. There were two salsas. The green one was spicy and really tasty. Revolcado: Pork stew with tongue, liver, and heart. I was warned by the waiter that I should only order this if I like pork- which I was perfectly fine with. I'm a huge fan or innards and have eaten them in a lot of my own traditional dishes. The flavor of the stew was good but the biggest issue I had was the smell. So basically I was paying extra but not getting more curtido. I called her back and she stated she would give me more curtido.
