Called the restaurant and manager Marilee told me that they successfully sent all items and called my husband a liar and that we need to call Grubhub with any issues. What a waste of a night spent on the phone with Las Fuentes and Grubhub trying to sort out this matter. Management at Las Fuentes is unprofessional and gives choices of "come on in" to receive missing items. Found a new favorite restaurant. The staff is friendly, service is quick. The margaritas were good, the food is fresh and authentic, the overall atmosphere is gorgeous. I had the chicken flautas, my boyfriend had the shrimp quesadillas (they were so good he got another order to go), we had guacamole and salsa and a mango margarita with tajin on the rim and a strawberry/pineapple margarita. I use to like this place but today made me realize that something has changed. They gave us tomato sauce and called it salsa (picture below) then I asked for pico de gallo and it was bone dry (picture below) my enchilada sauzas were unseasoned wet meat. I had a dollop of beans and rice as mentioned in review before mines. I order a jalapeno margarita and the waitress brought me out a 6 oz drink when I asked and pointed to the the drink I wanted smh...but she tried to correct it and brought me back a hot mess mixed topped with the already hot mess mix.... I met a friend at Las Fuentes for a late lunch and margaritas. The regular on the rocks with salt was DELICIOUS--tart, but not too tart. The guacamole was delightful--not too much cilantro and nice chunks of avocado and tomato. I really liked the menu--it had a nice mix of what Americans like to see on menus (like combination plates) and more authentic specialty dishes, like tinga and chiles rellenos. I ordered tamales off the lunch specials menu. They were served with green sauce and chihuahua cheese in a corn husk, and they were really good, although the edges were a bit dry (it was late in the afternoon, though, so I can't be too upset). I was pleased with the service, too, and would be happy to go back anytime. I assume they've improved their game since the other reviewers were in. read more

So let me try this again. Apparently my first review was removed for some reason. Not exactly sure what other reviewers are hoping for. First off this place is in Alsip- not exactly a hot bed of stellar restaurants. If you can find a better one in Alsip I would like to know. Secondly they have not been open very long at all. Even if you have not been an entrepreneur you should be aware that businesses go through growing pains in their beginning days. For those of that had a bad experience early, give it another try. Our experience was quite different form anyone reviewing. The service was excellent from the get go. We were greeted by a man I assume is the owner whom seemed very genuine in welcoming us to the restaurant. Our waitress came by in a timely fashion, took appetizer and drink orders. We had the queso fundido with chorizo. It was excellent-not over prepared or under prepared. But I realize it's difficult to mess that up however I have seen it happen several times. The three of us ordered the following: a dinner combo with an enchilada and chicken breast (pretty basic but good), cheese enchilada dinner with salsas verde (basic but delicious) and chicken enchiladas with mole (excellent). Mole was well prepared (not too thick, not too thin, not too bitter and overpowering) and the chicken was flavorful and moist. We also enjoyed the salsa and chips which was constantly refilled. If you are looking for a Rick Bayless experience forget it (YOU ARE IN ALSIP!!) but if you want darn good food then you arrived at the correct place. Keep in mind there are several mexican places very close so some of the reviews may just be haters of anything new. I've since tried the Chiliquiles w/chicken and enjoyed it. I brought a REAL Mexican with me whom enjoyed the Caldo De Pollo. Give it a try. read more

Went here on 3/11/16 with a friend. Ample parking which included handicapped spaces right by the entrance. Walked in and was surprised at how big the place is inside. We were greeted and seated. They accommodated me when I asked for a bigger table. This was a unique experience here (disclaimer). A woman came and put nachos and salsa on the table but didn't speak. A waiter came to take our order. We ordered drinks in which mine was the pina colada. I am a soft, social drinker. When he brought the drink, it tasted like no alcohol was in it which I told him. He told me when I would drink more from the glass, he'd fix it. How did he fix it you ask? He brought the bottle of white rum to the table and poured alot of it into my drink. Not classy plus the addition of rum made it now watery and still wasn't helping so the problem must of been it being a cheaper version of white rum. We ordered our food and I kid you not, 5 minutes later our food came. Was shocked it was ready so fast, but glad as I was hungry. I enjoyed my dinner but I have had much better mexican food that tasted truly authentic. The nachos given when we sat down were hard and to me, seemed overcooked. The salsa was delicious. The place inside was large as previously stated but I didn't get that warm, comfy feel. We got the check and both of us were shocked when we saw they charged us $1.50 for sour cream. When we originally asked a waitress nearby for it, she didn't say anything but just walked away and then I see the charge on my bill? Unacceptable and by the way, why so much for some sour cream? That sealed the deal for me not wanting to come back. One particular woman I had wished was my waitress. I am not sure why this place was packed. It is my second visit, the first time I did not pay for the meal (business meeting). I had a nice meal but not WOW. I brought the kids back and then went WOW these prices are high! I thought about getting up and going to our regular spot La fiesta, but did not. Food was very expensive for very normal food. It was slightly different from another local sit down place we usually go to, and not at all like my favorite place in Blue Island (Tenochitlan!!). I wish them well but I will go to those other places from now on where I get one more taco for $4 less and feel just as good. Ordered a carne asada dinner from this place for a Grubhub delivery and was charged 26 buck plus another 5 bucks because of a delivery charge of course and an added tip of 5 bucks for a grand total of "I Paid Too Much"! well the steak was delicious the rice was a dollop and the beans also a dollop, for those that don't know what a dollop is it's literally a spoonful! Tomatoes were not fresh and gross. This whole order was terrible! Ive been at this restaurant when you were able to sit in and dine and never have problems with such a ridiculous portion for the price. I love the food here. I usually stick to traditional Mexican fare rather than the seafood, so this review does not speak for the sea food. I literally have tried every entree here and have never been disappointed. Surprisingly. One of my favorites is the enchiladas vegitariano. It has a delicious garlic sauce that make me want to lick my plate. The Tinga poblano, and shrimp tacos pica pica are also on the top of my list. The mole is awesome. Las Fuentes, what happened? We used to frequent this place when it first opened and got to know the owners that were great. I am not sure if you started to pick-up on business and didn't expand with staff, but our experience here was awful. We waited 15 minutes for a server to come over to take our order. This is not a huge deal as they appeared to be understaffed; We can be patient. Once the server did arrive, it took another 10 minutes for drinks (non-alcoholic drinks, so it should have been faster). One of us ordered a taco salad with avocado (which they charged $8.95 for and it wasn't guacamole). The entire process was too exhausting to even flag that this occurred. We also got a to-go order and when the bill arrived, there was an automatic gratuity (which included $35/to-go order). We are massive tippers...always well over 30% as we worked in the industry at one point. However, on this occasion, we just signed the bill (with the included gratuity) and left. I am not sure what happened to you all? We used to love coming here and always had such a great experience, but this time was beyond disappointing. Bummer. read more

I cant give the food any stars because I never got to taste it. We went to Las Fuentes last night while our son was at the Marist game hoping to grab something to eat. We walked to the hostess stand and a staff person walked up about 3 minutes later. It was very hot inside , I asked her about the air. She said they had none. I than told her that we wanted to order to go. While looking at the menu , she walked away and never returned. Several other waitress and other staff came to counter without a word or acknowledgement. We were never asked for orders . In the meantime, the first waitress came out and started wrapping utensils. After standing there, 10 more minutes, we walked out. Several other people walked in and was greeted immediately. We noted that we were the only African Americans in the place. I will not recommend this establishment to anyone. This was a terrible experience! I will not ever return again and I love Mexican food. But I will not tolerate disrespect from anyone. Las Fuentes would have received 5 stars for great food and good service however they have a policy of no separate checks and they automatically added 18% gratuity for my party of 4! When we asked for separate checks, the waiter said no because of their computers. He continues to say we never said anything about separate checks, we respond he never mentioned the policy or even bothered to ask! We asked to speak to the manager and she continues to explain there were signs that said "no separate checks" in the foyer area. They have several signs and flyers posted in this area, who would think to look at them to notice this policy. Then says the gratuity policy is posted in the menu. They have two very large menus with lots to look at. It was an unfortunate end to a very delicious dinner. So if you join them for a meal, make sure someone in your party has a large limit on their credit card!! read more

Our family favorite Mexican restaurant. I've eaten at pretty much every Mexican restaurant in the area, and Las Fuentes has by far the best quality and tasting steak. Had it in tacos, taco salad, and a carne asada. Never disappoints. The grilled chicken breast is another favorite (seasoning is excellent), as is the extensive seafood menu. Never had a bad meal here. For dessert, we always get the fried tortillas with honey and cinnamon sugar with whipped cream on top (forgot the name). Let me start by saying that I had been waiting anxiously (since the day they advertised their arrival) for this location to open. . I have not been able to find an authentic, more upscale restaurant in my area of the South burbs. I thought that this would be the one I was searching for, since the Harlem Ave. location, in my opinion was pretty good. Sadly, I came away feeling very disappointed. I am not writing this to slam the joint, but to give everyone a fair understanding on what they are getting at this particular location. Who knows maybe ownership could look at this as a guage to the Mexican-ness of the restaurant, and tweak it a bit to satisfy "la raza" and not just the gringos. To be fair, this is the grand opening week and things could change as they iron out the wrinkles. However, I will give this place a total of TWO stars at this point. I could not rustle up another star with this evening's experience. One star for the physical appearance of the restaurant, which was fairly nice and decorated with a modern flair. The big screen TVs mounted around the ends of the restaurant were a nice touch and give the patron's a chance to catch their favorite sports teams while they eat or drink. This place has lots of potential, the Harlem location turns into a party atmosphere after dinner service and is always crowded. I could easily see this place being a staple in the South burbs if they could work on a few key issues. I am giving one more star for effort.. you can see that the staff was trying hard to get things together and learn the menu, prices, etc.. One thing I noticed, was that the waitstaff was mostly "anglo-American", which by no means is a bad thing entirely, but today, they showed their lack of experience with Mexican food. I asked a few basic questions about their food and the servers were unable to answer my questions without consulting the menu or management. An experienced server would have been able to answer "what condiments are available for the steak taco" and provide me options to my question about whether they had a spicier salsa. Answer: they have a bottled "valentina" salsa for those that want some kick to their food.. really?? no freshly made salsa verde or rojo?? this was another blow to the authenticity i had to mention. The food was also a good effort, but fell short of my expectations. Looking over the menu, I immediately noticed that the prices were higher than most restaurants in the area, and higher than the Harlem Ave, location (i checked their website menu to compare). Now I am by no means cheap when it comes to splurging on a good meal, but I will not do so for anything subpar. After a whole lot of debate, me and my wife decided to bypass the larger entrees and just order some plain ole' tacos, a safe choice yes, but after tasting the chips and salsa (pace picante sauce-esque) and a bland mango margarita, this was our best option. The tacos were actually pretty good, but i prefer my tacos with cilantro and cebolla, not lettuce, tomato and cheese, but I didn't want to make things more difficult on the server (this is where the topping questions comes to play). The tacos are the petite type, so for $2.75 a piece you might want to opt for the taco dinner instead. oh before i forget, this item is not on the menu and we had to ask three different people to find out how much individual tacos cost. At one point our server told us $4 per taco.. lol.. I was already packing up to leave when the manager cleared up the price. $4 tacos, better have foie gras, or a korean twist to them for me to pay that. One more point for the service, the waitress was very nice and tried to make us happy. I could tell she was trying extra hard to help us find something to our liking. She was nice and brought us both rice and beans with our tacos and said that it was no extra charge. I guess she could tell we were not happy with the limited authentic choices. I would give them 2.5 stars if I could but I cant up my score until i can get back to re-evaluate them. Overall, you can do a lot better if you want authentic Mexican food, you just might have to drive a bit further. If you are ok with a "Chi-Chi's or Chipotle" type of culinary experience than you can find something to your liking here. As for me, I will keep searching for the right Mexican restaurant to suit my heightened sense of taste ;) read more

I went for dinner a few days ago. I'd say I'd give this place zero stars if I could, but that may not be fair as I never got to eat anything but a handful of chips. When we got there, the parking lot was loaded, but the restaurant was, at most, half full. We were seated right away, served chips and salsa, and everything seemed okay. Twenty minutes later, our orders were taken, and more chips were delivered. I started looking around. Those six huge-screen TVs, each on a different channel, were jarring to say the least; I thought the signs said "fine Mexican cuisine", not "crazed Mexican sports bar". I don't like the TVs, but I could live with them if they were smaller - they're so big, it's pretty much impossible to find a place to look that's not covered with, say, ESPN. At this point, the restaurant is filling up. Not usually a problem, but we're noticing that there are two, maybe three, very busy waitresses to serve a crowd that's too big for the size of the staff. I don't know how many were in the kitchen, but I'm guessing there weren't enough of them, either. It's now about 40 minutes since we ordered; no food yet. We were offered more chips, but we declined. Now we notice that people who came in after we did are being served. We're still waiting. After a little over an hour, I got up to leave. There's been no explanation for the delay, and I don't see any sign of an end to the delay. As I got to the door, our dinners arrived. Problem was, the meal I ordered wasn't quite the meal I got. I had ordered Tilapia a la Verdura, no zucchini, and asked whether the dish involved tomatoes at all (I'm allergic). No, no tomatoes. The menu had said the dish was served with rice; had it said Mexican rice, I would have known to ask that the rice be left out as well. The meal came, lots of zucchini, Mexican rice (which usually involves tomato sauce), and avocado slices sitting on top of a tomato slice. I suppose I could have just eaten the fish, but after more than an hour... I asked that the dish be taken back. The waitress was very apologetic, and offered a replacement. I declined, as I was afraid it would take another hour. She came back, trying to hold back tears, again offering to make the situation right, which has me wondering whether she lost her job over this. If she did, that's really not fair - the main problem here was that the management allowed many more people to be seated than the staff could reasonably serve. I'm sorry I didn't keep going when I got up to leave; if I had, I would probably be willing to give them another chance. I've sent an email through the restaurant's web site; at this writing, there's been no response. I wish them well, but I won't be back. And if our waitress did lose her job, she deserves to find something better, and I hope she finds something better soon. read more

They spooned a blob of refried beans in the middle of the plate and used a cup as a mold to make it look "presentable" then it was accompanied by a sprinkling of Spanish rice around the plate... hardly worth 20 dollars. Ceviche is nothing to talk about and actually a poor implementation of it, if you ever had the real deal..... Churassco steak sauce for the Las Fuentes Churrasco plate was beyond bland.... At least the steak was fresh! The only thing this restaurant excels at is over-priced, gourmet food presentation. Walked out wondering how and why the parking lot was filled with people at 3pm on a weekday. Sadly, it seemed that of all the people at this "authentic and gourmet Mexican restaurant" my husband and I were the only Hispanic people in there.... and if you know anything about eating out at ethnic restaurants, the first sign that the food isn't really authentic is lack of ethnic customers its menu claims to emulate from. read more

Have only been there once and the service was somewhat slow. However, my meal was amazing. I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered but it was poblano peppers stuffed with a mixture of, if I remember correctly, ground pork and ground beef and cheese that was seasoned to perfection. There were two large poblanos in the dish and they were drizzled with an amazing walnut cream sauce! The pico de gallo beforehand had just enough kick and the tortilla chips served with it were crispy and warm. I did have to wait what felt like an unusually long time for my food and the service did seem somewhat disorganized but it was definitely worth the wait. Don't go there if you're in a hurry. If you have the time, don't miss this place! The decor is also a little haphazard. The prior occupant was an Irish restaurant and the current owners haven't changed much, if any, of the decor. I really don't care that much about a restaurant's decor, though. I go to a place for its food. Las Fuentes does not disappoint. There are many, many run-of-the-mill taco and burrito restaurants in the Alsip/Oak Lawn area. Las Fuentes is definitely head and shoulders above those places. I moved to the South Loop but I still make the trip in for some good food!
