On our last trip to Cabo San Lucas, some people we met that have timeshare told us the most authentic local food was at Maria Jimenez. This trip we were able to get there. Loved it from start of walking up to it. It doesn't have the tourist look that so many place by the marina have. Inside is just as cozy. Server was very friendly and he made us feel welcome. Everything from salsa to guacamole was fresh and flavorful. The combo with Chicken Adobo, Carne Asada, Chorizo, and Queso Fundido is a great way to explore the many options here. Poor service and extremely overpriced. Be aware that the prices charged do not match the prices shown on the menu. Actual prices are almost double than that what is shown on this site. Customers should carefully review their receipts. We were charged even more than the menu prices. For example, a sope that was listed on the menu for 375 pesos was charged at almost 100 pesos more on our bill. Together, one sope and one Coke came to approximately $28 USD. I would not recommend this place unless you are prepared to verify every item on your receipt. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Cabo. We love the tortilla soup and the special pechuga de pollo marinada a la plancha - perfectly seasoned marinated grilled chicken breast with rice, black beans, guacamole, and homemade tortillas. The chocolate cake is delicious if you have room for dessert. I always order the limomenta to drink - so refreshing! Everyone is super friendly and fun - we look forward to seeing Beto and the staff each time we go. Pretty cool space and the food was amazing. We shared a seafood green chile relenno and chicken tacos. Very well done and the portions were perfect. Ambience: we were the only ones there at 8:30pm on a Sunday evening. We had tried to go on Thrs at 9:30pm and they looked like they were shut down for good. I am glad they are still open. Service was great, food used to be top notch. They charge extra for salsa and chips. The chips were cold and greasy, the "salsa" was a pico de gallo (mostly tomatoes) no heat. My meal was a little cold. I thought being the only customer onsite would mean it was hot fresh off the stove but it was not. The chile relleno was great but the side of beans and rice were tepid. Maria Jimenez is always at the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Cabo. Authentic Mexican and family run, this is a place you won't want to miss. Important note-this is CASH ONLY so come prepared. For food, the tortilla soup is fantastic but fair warning, it is LARGE. The enchilada verdes are fantastic- well-sauced and absolutely delicious. Similar, the enchiladas divorciadas are great, four pieces with two in green sauce and two in red. The catch of the day was sea bass was absolutely fantastic- highly recommend the green cilantro sauce or the creamy chipotle sauce. Margaritas are fantastic as well - you can't forget about those! I really want to love this place. My sister's family loves it here for the homemade tortillas and complimentary sopes they give you when you sit down - those were great! Service is always warm and friendly. However the food is just lacking. I will say that a few people in our large family rave about the Special Chicken and get it every time we come. So I would say that's a safe menu item to try. However, the shrimp tacos are just tortillas with shrimp in them. No flavor whatsoever. Just small side of beans, guac and pico. My husband and I are visiting Cabo and tonight is our last night here. All week we've searched for authentic Mexican food and tonight we finally found it! I had the chicken flautas with beans and rice and a mango margarita. Everything was so fresh and delicious. My husband had the flank steak, chili rellano, enchilada combo. Our meals were BY FAR the best we've had all week. This is a family run business and the recipes have been perfected and passed down many generations. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the steak was cooked well and the chorizo was delicious. I really enjoyed all aspects of the dish together since it was very cohesive. Their pozole is highly recommended and comes with generous portion of sides to tailor it to your needs. First thing: it's CASH ONLY (Mexican peso OR USD). Found this place on Yelp and we thought we'd try. They have a smaller room that has AC in it so that's a plus esp in this very hot summer night. I ordered Combination 2, fried rolled chicken taco, breaded chicken plate, chicken Chile releno, and chicken nachos. The total cost was a whopping $100. While the servings were relatively big, it's still on the pricier side in this area. I didn't like my meat. It was chewy and very salty. The chicken fajita was very good though. And the Mexican cinnamon coffee was pretty good and that one was refillable. Overall, it's a nice experience having candlelit dinner. And the tortillas were prepared right there just outside where we sat. We also got serenaded by a sweet duo and our boys actually loved it. I don't think we're coming back for another time though mainly because of the cost relative to the quality of the food. This was for sure one of the more expensive places to go to. read more

Awesome. We came here this time last year, and both times we've been so pleased. The pozole (only on weekends) was delicious and such a presentation! My husband loves the imperial shrimp. My vegetarian son enjoyed the quesadilla with nopales! We all had excellent food, and were so pleased. Just beware - the only one who was able to finish his whole dinner was the hungry 15 year-old boy. The rest of us have plenty of wonderful food to bring home as leftovers. Mama's drink- a green lemonade with mint? Basil? Is awesome and I will come back again and again just for that. This is a smaller place that feels a little cobbled together, but I kind of love it because it creates its own style and authenticity. Colorful and cheerful, with ample numbers of mariachis wandering through. The staff is kind and friendly. They will find you a taxi when you're done if you need it. First, this is a cash-only restaurant. One of the better finds in Cabo and well worth the effort to get there. They have a quaint room which was the original restaurant. When you make a reservation be sure to ask for it. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. The Chicken Mole is one of the best in Cabo. It is hard to find. It is on a back street. The friends we were with asked me to find a more down to earth local place that was a contrast to many of the more high end type of restaurants we had been going to. My wife ordered the chicken with the secret sauce and she said it was surprisingly good. But the prices, furgetabout it. $23 usd for a bland chile relleno with a small black bean side that was mostly soup was not reasonable.
