Came upon this place by a recommendation. Very nice waiters. Food was excellent. Will we come back?? Definitely the next time we are on a cruise here.
My fiance and I have been visiting Cabo for a couple years and we thought we had found our favorite hole-in-the-wall taco spot, that is until we stumbled across Las Guacamayas this last trip. The restaurant is relatively large in comparison to many other taco spots in the downtown core and has a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The entire staff was friendly both (yes, we went back again!) times and was frequently checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything. We didn't order any drinks here, but they do have a full bar and a pretty decent list of margaritas. Both times we ordered the same tacos, carne asada, chorizo and chicken for my fiance and shrimp for me. While the food is ready in a matter of minutes, it is anything but fast food. With the kitchen being next to the dining area, you can watch the cooks craft by hand the tortillas, which makes a world of difference. While some other taco spots have a more robust offering of accompaniments for the tacos, this spot hits a home run with the flavor. The meat is cooked perfectly and can stand on its own, but the salsas and pico give the perfect lift. Like many places in Cabo, this is a blink and miss it kind of restaurant, but don't make that mistake! Definitely give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
Loved it. Around the corner from our hotel so we popped in several times; for lunch, for appetizers or just for drinks. Excellent margaritas, good prices on tequila and solid mexican comfort food. The mushroom queso and Huitlecoche quesadilla were outstanding. Service was great. Fun vibe.
Visiting the area and this place came highly recommended by locals. It did not disappoint! The location is a mood! Beautiful decor and you can see the cooking in action just steps away from the tables. The smell is amazing. The food was really authentic! I went with a big group so we got a little bit of everything. The mixed drinks and agua frescas were also tasty. Employees were all so attentive, food and drinks came out quickly. They made sure to check in with us too. A must try!
Pretty awesome place to get some Mexican food. The decor of this place is pretty cool and colorful. There was a lot of flies and bugs flying around but they had little fly repellent fans. Food was yummy and decent priced. We had steak and chicken tacos. Also ordered a shrimp ceviche, which was pretty good in size. They had two sauce trays with everything you need for your meal. For our drinks we went for a horchata, yummy, and a mocha frappe. Service was great and accommodating, we were also offered table side music if we wanted. Definitely would come here again, great place to get decent Mexican food.
Really good authentic Mexican spot near the marina/downtown Cabo San Lucas! The decor is really colorful and exciting. Amazing frozen margaritas, and you know we had to order a round of ice cold Mexican cokes in a bottle for the table (iykyk!!!) We ordered the melted cheese with chorizo and flour tortillas to start, and it was bubbling hot and really delicious! For entrees, our table ordered surf and turf fajitas, a chicken burrito, chile relleno, and a selection of tacos. All were super tasty and authentic. Service was a bit slow, but that seemed to be the norm for many places we visited on our trip to Cabo. Would definitely recommend for live music and authentic Mexican food!
Always a fun stop and the good is different than just tacos and burritos. Victor was very good but got very busy at the end with a rush of tables. Stuffed potatoes were good as usual and the stone bowls are huge and packed with whatever you choose. Skinny margarita was on point and wine list ok for Cabo. We prefer the San Jose location and the reason for the 4 stars is the amount of pirates (sales guys) milling throughout the restaurant. Very very annoying but nothing to do but close the gates. Never going to happen. All in all, a fun stop downtown.
It was lunchtime so I looked on Yelp for recommendations. We were just around the corner from a five star establishment so that's where we went. Unfortunately, it was just a bar, no food available. We asked one of the servers where to get good tacos. He said Las Guacamayas. Wow was he right!! Guacamayas has plenty of tables on two levels and we were seated immediately in an open courtyard. We were handed a very extensive drink menu and then a food menu. Two large sectioned trays were placed in front of us. They contained various salsas and toppings. We wanted to ask for chips but the severs were running around so much that we couldn't get anyone's attention. The hubs and our friends opted for tacos and I ordered the combo stone bowl. I chose three meats (I chose chicken, pork shoulder and flank steak). Long, thin strips of meat, chunks of cheese and slices of cactus and avocado came layered in a stone pot. It was literally boiling and continued boiling for quite awhile. It also came with a basket of warm tortillas. To say this was a wonderful dish is an understatement. It was unique. It was delicious. It was large enough for all four of us to share. I'd get this again in a heartbeat. Everyone else's tacos were really good too. Everyone did agree, though, that they'd get the bowl next time. The guys had a beer and I had a house margarita. It was just right - not too sweet, just a little tart. Our service did get better and the manager came by several times to check on us. Our check was right around $50 USD - very reasonable especially for the quantity and quality of our food. I definitely recommend Las Guacamayas. We're only in Cabo a couple more days but I think we may be back!
Went here a couple times while in Cabo! The ceviches were fresh! The stuffed potatoes with steak was !!! Took a pic but wasn't the best shot! Live music playing both nights we went! The sauces are all delicious!!! I didn't give it a five because the waiter seamed preoccupied when taking our orders one of the nights. The ambience is a nice outdoor patio area.
Service great Ambience was jumping Entertainment was lively. The food was great and at such great prices. The marinated pork tacos are a must. So much better than volcanoes. Highly recommend will not be disappointed
Cute place friendly staff but the food was blahhhh. The seafood Stone bowl was very disappointing. The octopus and shrimp was good but the fish no bueno and mixture of seafood in the middle was bland, no amount of hot sauced made it better.

It's surrounded by tons of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. ATMOSPHERE: I really like the ambiance of this restaurant. It's large and spacious. They almost always have great live music and you just get a nice, comfortable feeling from it. SERVICE: I always experience first-rate service at Las Guacamayas. There's always someone checking on your to make sure you're doing ok. Everyone is very friendly, attentive, and polite. FOOD: The food at Las Guacamayas is absolutely delicious. Hands down one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. Everything I've ever tasted has been truly mouthwatering. After dinner tonight, I took a stroll down Lázaro Cárdenas, just enjoying the Cabo energy music in the air, people everywhere, and that warm evening breeze. As I was walking with husband we happened to pass by Las Guacamayas, and the vibe instantly caught our attention The place was lively, colorful, and full of that authentic Cabo charm. The staff I interacted with were attentive, friendly, and super quick, which made the moment even better. It's the kind of spot that pulls you in with its energy alone. And I can't forget to mention the drink that stole the show earlier in the night -- the Zombie Mojito Made with Appleton rum, mint liqueur, peppermint leaves, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and fresh pineapple chunks, it was tropical, refreshing, and had the perfect kick. We loved the restaurant and the overall vibe. An Uber driver recommended it to us for dinner since we're not from the area. The dining area is partially outdoors, and it was sprinkling that evening. We ordered a fajita plate and a molcajete, and the food tasted good--we practically finished everything. The service was great, and the staff checked in on us regularly. Unfortunately, later that night we experienced food poisoning. We're not sure what caused it--possibly the salsa that had been sitting out during the rain--but it was hard to ignore. I'll leave it at that. It may have been a one-off situation, but I'm unsure if we'd return. If we do come back to Cabo and decide to try this place again and get sick a second time, that would be the final straw. read more

I had the quesadilla and did not enjoy it unfortunately and sent it back. The margarita was good and my friend enjoyed it as well. Staff was not very attentive and we did not enjoy the food. read more

5 stars for the food 4 stars for the service 3.5 stars for the smoky environment *just ask to sit further away from the grill* Loved the flavors of the salsas for the table The shrimp taco was delicious and very large for the price The cheese stuffed chili is hands down the best I've had in all of cabo! Loved it came with two sauces: a smoky red and bright citrusy green. Flavorful side of black beans and guac as well. I will come back here just for this dish They make a lot of heavy char grilled items here so they tend to get smoky at times although it's outside. Sometimes the wind isn't on your side and it blows right at you if you sit too close. If smoke bothers you make sure to ask to sit on the bar side of the restaurant. The waiters don't like being in the smoke either. Other than that everything was perfect! read more

Delicious stone bowl, served with homemade tortillas. They first come out with a large, generous assortment of sauces including pico de gallo, avocado salsa, a smoky sauce, a habanero sauce and another salsa. We ordered chips to sample why we waited for our stone bowl/molchahete. My my husband and I shared the stone bowl, and had plenty to eat. read more

- it's like a 3.5/5 for me - my friends and i were walking down the streets of cabo san lucas completely famished and ready to devour some food, so a friend pulled through and led us to this beautiful spot located on a busy street and with plenty of outdoor seating complete with papel picado hanging everywhere, this made for a perfect lunch spot before our next activities! the vibes were festive and lively, with a live mariachi walking around and super nice waiters. they had a wide range of food + drink items on their menu at affordable prices, so there is surely something here for everyone! -- -- -- pictured: " combined stone bowl ($380.00 pesos/~$19.31 usd) // this was the menu item that intrigued me the most. served up on a sizzling stone bowl, we were able to choose three types of meat - pork shoulder, skirt steak, and flank steak - and also came with a variety of veggies like avocado, onions, cactus, and huge blocks of meaty cheese! while the flavors were good, I think the meat was a little tough... super good portion for sharing though! Guys. I have eaten here twice. It is like stepping into the doors of actual heaven. Such fantastic atmosphere, kind humans working, and I am currently drunk listening to a wonderful elderly man sing Unchained Melody. Get the La Gringa, it's a cheesy tortilla with a pile of the most amazing Al Pastor on top. I ONLY EAT MEAT HERE! THATS HOW GOOD IT IS. Please come. They deserve all your money and your time. We were walking down a little back street in Cabo when we came across this place. It was time for lunch and there was guy inviting everyone on the street in. It was big and open and never having heard of it gave it a shot. Menu had a wide variety and different choices than your Americanized place. Was brought some chips and a salsa variety plate. Was informed they make all their tortillas fresh. We ordered some drinks and looked the menu over. It wasn't very busy and food came out pretty fast. If you can't walk stairs maybe. It the best place s he bathroom is up stairs. We went around noon on a weekday but looks like they can do music. Would recommend and will try again on an evening! read more
Great prices for delicious food and drinks. A short walk from the Marina and some delectable churros. We came here twice during our vacation because it was so good. They even had a vegan plate for us and the vegetables and cactus paddle was so good! They give you a salsa plate with hot and mild options. Definitely a place to remember. read more

If you are ever in downtown Cabo San Lucas, and quite frankly who isn't on any given Friday night, and looking for a truly authentic restaurant for regional Mexican cuisine, then look no further than Las Guacamayas! Spanish for the word macaw, Las Guacamayas has this old school fiesta vibe to it as the restaurant literally resides in a courtyard under a canopy of dried palm tree leaves that serves as the restaurant's ceiling. They even have their own singer roaming the restaurant singing traditional Mexican songs. The only way we found Las Guacamayas in the first place was when departing our all-inclusive hotel along the beachside, we asked out taxi driver to take is to the most popular authentic Mexican restaurant in the city he knew and he made a direct route for Las Guacamayas. It was early July right in the heart of tourist season and they weren't too busy as it was actually getting late in the evening and our party of five was immediately sat. Before you even have time to look over your menu the servers at Las Guacamayas bring out the traditional dipping salsas and sauces and of course tortilla chips, in addition to a platter filled with fresh cucumbers, grilled onions, sliced limes and jalapeno peppers because when dining on Mexican cuisine in a humid evening al fresco, who doesn't love a little starter to wet your appetite? We actually learned from our server Adolph that when they served their entrees at Las Guacamayas that they are normally presented with no sauces, so this way you can add your which ever one you like on your own. As we looked over their menu and ask Adolph what they are best known known for at Las Guacamayas, as soon as he mentioned that their Lava Stone Bowl was a signature dish. And just then we saw another table receive their steaming stone bowl and the look and style sold us so much that we decided to take the recommendation of our server and order the combined which not only featured an abundance of grilled onions, cactus, avocado, fresh cheese and a variety of seafood from grilled octopus to shrimp. It resembled a steaming hot iron pot similar to what they serve in Korean cuisine and was the perfect feast for royalty! Another entree we order was their fried Quesadillas Chilangas which was made with shredded chicken meat and melted cheese. Perhaps the biggest surprise in the overall looks department was our server Adolph's recommendation that we begin our meal with three of their Los Volcanoes, which were basically deep fried tortillas topped with your choice of meat and melted cheese. So we ordered one each of marinated pork, flank steak, and Mexican sausage. They presented with so much flair that the flank steak option actually came with the rib bone still attached to the meat! Service at Las Guacamayas although strong, could be a little more better coordinated as more food was placed on our table at the same time instead of better timed intervals, the volcanoes which were supposed to be our starters, managed to go unattended over time and hardened before we could finish them, which greatly disappointed me but I still managed to stuff my face with the abundance of food present on our table. Overall, the food which was well worth the overall price was prepared with such flair and authenticity that I would totally make a return visit to Las Guacamayas whenever I am in downtown Los Cabos. They even have a fast casual take out section that this place even serves the walk up crowd so you know they know how to entertain the average tourist who walks on by intrigued by what they see, and I now am one of those tourists! read more

We love this place! We found it on trip advisor years ago during our first trip to Cabo when we wanted to venture out of the hotel and eat some traditional Mexican food. We have gone back every trip! Super yummy , fairly priced food. read more
When my friend and I landed in Cabo, we were on the hunt for tacos! Las Guacamayas was recommended to us, so we decided take a short walk to this restaurant for lunch. A guy selling knick knacks followed us here and dined with us as well. we ordered four tacos and were brought some grilled onions, cucumbers, lime, peppers, and a bunch of salsas! While we were eating there was a man that tried to get us to go to a time share presentation, but we declined since we already had one the next morning. It's a little disruptive to have people selling you things when all you want to do is eat! Overall the service was quick and friendly and tacos were good, but not great! I liked that the taco de costilla came with a crunchy tortilla on top though! This spot is very touristy, so I'm glad we didn't spend too much time here. read more
