I love soups! One easy way to make a big delicious pot of soup is by using Anderson House, Frontier…read moreSoup mixes. I really love their "hearty soups." They take longer to make but they are economical and extremely nutritious. You can control the salt and fat content of your soup. Among my current favorites are the Ski Country Chili Mix and the Beef Barley Stew Mix. After a while, you begin to create your own version of these. I'll often substitute a lower fat meat like ground turkey or different vegetables than called for. My variations are a creative way to make the soup mine. Frontier includes the seasoning packets so you don't have to worry about that. I love adding unique twists like wine or sherry to enhance the flavors. My only complaint about Frontier is that they stop making some of the recipes, ones I loved so much. For instance the Red Bean Gumbo or the Wheat Berry Chili are no longer available. The New Mexico Mesa Stew was changed to an "instant" variety and it is not nearly as good! They still have great soups available. Try a few of the hearty ones. You'll love them.

Among the many things we scooped up were two Pacific Rim soup mixes, because I've always been a soup guy. Last month I whipped up a batch of their Pacific Rim Gingered Carrot & Coconut Soup. I had to add 2 whole pounds of cut up carrots, four cups of broth, a TB of brown sugar, and a can of unsweetened coconut milk. It went on the stovetop and an hour later (with an assist from my immersion blender) it was ready. It yielded 8 servings and was pretty good. Today I cooked up my second batch of their soup -this one had the tongue twisting name of "Nebraska Barn Raising Split Pea". I had to add 6 cups of broth and I swapped out some diced chicken from the freezer instead of the bacon they suggested. This time I made it in a crockpot instead of on the stovetop. You can either cook it on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 8 hours. I put it on low in the morning and by the time lunch rolled around at 1:00 i checked it and it was perfect. I was super happy with the way it came out and after it cools down I'll package it into some containers for refrigerating and freezing.

The tacos are good but I'm not a big fan of how the tortillas were made. They tasted a bit greasy. Otherwise great presentation and good value with the DoorDash deal. I can't speak on the service or ambiance since I just got delivery.

When you enter, it is a small place that has a few tables, the main counter/deli, and then a few slot machines. Depending on how many people are in line, it can take a while. There was only one lady working when I went, and there was one person ahead of me, and his order wasn't huge but took a while because of the variety of things they offer. I ordered an Italian beef quesadilla, 12 inch sub, and elotes. I like that you can choose any of their deli meats to put in your quesadilla, and they are not skimpy on the amount they put in, which is nice, especially for the price you pay for a quesadilla. The sub was my favorite. You can choose your deli meat and options to put on it. I've had the sub before because a place had gotten subs catered from there. That's why I went to see where this delicious sub came from. I should have stuck to the subs that was tasty. The elotes, on the other hand, were not. If I knew they didn't use roasted corn, I wouldn't even have ordered. The corn was soggy, and the toppings of mayo, butter, and chili powder didn't even have a great taste. The ingredients were there, but it tasted like nothing. Which is unfortunate. It's close to home, so I'd come back for another sub, but idk if I would get anything else. They do have horchata, but it's just the pre-packaged mix, so I didn't even bother to get one. They have the potential to be a good neighborhood spot

The pho flavor was pretty good, but I think the meat slices were a bit too big for our liking. When it's a bit too big, it also gets tough too. The banh mi wasn't bad, but again I don't recall it standing out too much. This means we will have to order it again to try a third time! Maybe we will try to eat in next time.

We walked in and we were told my the server to sit anywhere. We both ordered the number 31, Pho Dac Biet as well as an order of spring rolls. It was about 15 minutes until our spring rolls arrive and about 30 minutes until we got our bowl of pho. The spring rolls smelled like they were rolled on a dirty rag. They smelled bad. They were also missing ingredients inside them. The pho broth was way too sweet, it had too much ginger. There was very little meat and they gave me half the noodles they were supposed to be in my bowl. It's clear they are choosing profits over quality now.. It was so disappointing because I remember this place once being the go to for pho. That's not the case anymore... We also had to wave the server down because she was not very tentative to us. I love supporting small businesses but when they deserve it. To give me half of what I paid for is just plain theft. Overall. Dont waste your time.. there is better pho out there.. just make the drive.
