Delicious food and micheladas! I went on a Friday afternoon and although they were pretty busy the service was good and we frequently got checked on to make sure we didn't need anything. They had a variety of sports games playing on their tv's and good music playing on their speakers. After awhile 3 young men showed up with instruments and mics and started playing music live. It was nice! This place does get very busy and parking can sometimes be a hassle but it's definitely worth a visit! read more

One of my favorite place to get seafood and that is saying a lot because I am very particular when it comes to seafood. They have great micheladas here which is my go to drink. When it comes to the food my favorite thing is the camarones a la kora, but honestly everything here is good. Find anything that sounds good and give it a try. They also have molcajetes their that are to die for and so big and great for sharing. Their ceviche tostadas are also amazing. When you are craving seafood in the valley this is the place to go. Just know that it does get very busy and there is usually a wait so plan accordingly. read more

I am going to leave here the definition of Ceviche so maybe the cook and owner of the restaurant get familiarized with concept of ceviche: Ceviche, also cebiche, seviche, or sebiche is a South American seafood dish that originated in Peru, typically made from fresh raw fish cured in fresh citrus juices, most commonly lemon or lime, but historically it was made with the juice of bitter orange. Mine was a vague combination of cooked shirimp, octopus and veggies with NO flavor at all. No drop of lime juice, no salt no pepper. This is the second time I been here since I moved to Galt in 2015. Hadn't been there in a few years, but went back this weekend. Its always packed with a line of people to get in. We put our names on the list for 2 and it was a 15 minute wait. We got back and the girl had written my name down wrong. Staff wore face masks. It was clean and the music wasn't blaring until it hit 2 pm. We ordered 2 dishes. The lavanta muerto which has been my favorite. On the spicy side but not overly so. The waitress got our drink order about 2 minutes after we sat down & asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't so maybe 10 minutes later she came back again for our order. Food took maybe 15 minutes to get to our table. Everything was great and fresh. The Kora Camarones were on the sweet side so if you don't like that don't order it! Been a regular here since they opened. Unsure who cooks on Wednesday nights but my favorite dish has gone to amateur. Dry over cooked beef, barely and cheese, and the shrimp were diced up so small they may has well used salad shrimp or even shrimp seasoning. Bland and unforgettable. read more

I went to Las Islitas on a recommendation from a friend and I'm happy I did. I went right around opening time on a Monday which wasn't busy at all. They started out with a different kind of chips and salsa that you would usually get from a Mexican restaurant but it was really good. I guess it was a seafood salsa? They don't show any lunch specials on the menu so make sure you take note of them on the window outside before entering. I actually ordered off the menu getting the Camarones Al Gusto, a la crema with a coke in the bottle. All food was fresh, delicious and the service fast and polite. Prices have gotten out of hand and nothing tastes the same anymore with new owner. Pineapple lacked juice/sauce with seafood. Mejillon sauce is bland. Agua chile I ordered had poop in all the shrimp. Really gross. Use to come weekly and was 5 star with old owner. Even waiters were with better attitude prior. Also portions are much smaller. I almost wish I lived in Lodi so I could go to this wonderful Mexican seafood restaurant more often. It is located in a rather nondescript shopping center. They did put some thought into the interior; it really is pretty. The side of the bar is the side of a boat, and cabin of the boat is the back of the bar. All the interior doors are metal and they look like ship doors with portholes. There are a few game fish on the wall, I suspect these did not come out of an ocean. I enjoyed both meals I had here. I love raw oysters. The plumb ones I had here were fresh and reasonably priced. The first time I stopped here I shared a plate of beef fajitas with Linda.The meat was tender and flavorful When S and I came back I had Camarones Diablo and S had the 7 Mar soup. There was a lot of crab in the shell and other assorted fish. The broth tasted of the sea. He liked the soup and I sure like my dish. The shrimp were not over cooked and the peppers and onions were gently sautéed so they retained a bit of crunch. Discovered due to groupon. Free ceviche instead of chips and salsa. No place like this in the 209. This place was great. It's has some negatives, but all in all, I loved it. The chips you get when you get there, are store bout tostadas. Not that it makes it bad, but just a observation. The rice was also not what I expected. It was white rice with corn, carrots and peas. But again, nothin big to stress off of. The seafood, is soooo fresh. We tried three different dishes and was very impressed. Everything here is full of flavor and there are So many options. I usually love this place but this last time I was there I was disgusted. I ordered aguachiles and when they came out they were raw, raw and I know that they're suppose to be cooked in lemon . Anyway that wasn't the issue my issue was that all the shrimp still had their poop veins. I mean they were sliced open but not cleaned. ( que tan dificil es tener los ingredientes listos solo para mixtear pir orden) el concepto de un ceviche es la frescura. Las mojarras fritas no llegaron a ser fritas estaban medio cosidas y totalmente sin sabor. Aguachile... camarones con un jugo verde y el sabor brillo por su aucencia. Los frijoles salados. Y no. No soy un cliente con ganas de solo quejarse, no soy el tipo de cliente que se toma la molestia de escribir esperando un refund o cortesías, soy una perdona con extenso conocimiento culinario. Se pago lo que se tenia que pagar por respeto al staff que esta trabajando, pero muy lejos del valor de la comida. I don't understand why so many mexicanos are giving this any stars or even coming to this place. The only thing I could think of is the ambience makes them feel like they're in Mexico? I know I felt like I was back in Mexico coming in here. So it got my hopes up. I started off by trying the shrimp cocktail. It tasted like watered down tomato juice. My boyfriend ordered aguachile. As he was getting ready to eat it, I noticed they did NOT devein the shrimp at all. It looked like shrimp poop was covering his entire plate. He ended up deveined it himself. I thought maybe they're having an off night so I came back a second time. Boyfriend ordered the same thing, aguachile, but I ordered the ceviche. The aguachile, again! Was not deveined. And the ceviche, was absolutely INEDIBLE! The octopus was extremely over cooked, you couldn't even bite into it. And the shrimp you could tell was boiled and then just placed on top of a bed of grounded up fish with minced veggies. Note to chef: ALL THE SEAFOOD IN CEVICHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE COOKED IN THE LEMON JUICE! I would give them negative stars if I could. Whoever is cooking the food should be fired. Anyone who thinks this is good Mexican Mariscos needs to have their taste buds checked. Go to Mexico and try the real deal, you'll be surprised how delicious it actually is supposed to taste. As authentic as you can get in the USA! We eat here twice a month. If you go on Sunday plan to wait at least 30 minutes before you're seated. We were dying for Mexican food and this was all that was true Mexican fare available on our DoorDash. Oh my goodness! So so so so good! (We are very picky) but ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp (best we've ever had), the shrimp empanadas (to die for), and the chicken and beef fajitas (they were good). But overall, everything was so yummy and just delicious! Who would have thought a pandemic would lead us to our new favorite Mexican restaurant! Soon as you walk in its LOUD!!! Music is way too loud could not even hear my server ask me for my order. The menu......hmmmmm I love seafood but thats just about it on the menu. No enchiladas, menudo, pasole or your typical food. I tried the shrimp tacos and unfortunately it was bland and deep fried. The tortillas are store bought and the rice does not look like spanish rice. We are used to Don Luis in Stockton and thats where we will continue to go. Food is NO BUENO. I'm a a Mexican seafood lover I grew up eating and now make seafood all the time for my family too. With that being said you know I know my seafood. My family originates from the northern coast of Sinaloa, Mexico and seafood is in our DNA. My seafood standards are very high and the food here was mediocre, flavorless mostly over cooked it was bad. The ambiance is fun, people are drinking up, loud music having a good time. However this doesn't change the fact the food is not good Mexican seafood. The service is meh... with much room for improvement. We had to waive the waitress down numerous times to request a beer btw my husband was the only one drinking and she couldn't even keep up with him. Micheladas here are pretty good .. we got the the meijones and have tried the langoustines. I always tell myself that I'm gonna try new things here but I always end up just ordering the meijones lol.
