The food and ambiance was good but its basic customer service to let us know that 3 scoops of guacamole was going to cost 10.25. Angelos yall are insane to charge that and the worst part is the server didnt let us know. The server made it sound like a small side and made it sound like we werent gonna get charged "would you guys like a side of guacamole?" and here comes this plate with 3 big scoops on it. If we knew it was ten dollars we would of said no. Angelos knows what they were doing and try to upcharge you. We unfortunately were scammed. A 35 dollar dinner turned into 51 after tax! Angelos do better and we WILL not be coming back ever again. Also want to add that on the receipt it said the total was 49.something. But my card was charged 51.something even tho i didnt tip! I visited Angelo's while visiting family in Lodi. We had a large party and they were able to pull tables together and get us in quickly. Service was phenomenal! The young lady who served us was super attentive, helpful, and made it a great experience. As far as the food goes, it was delicious! I ordered the mixed fajitas and that was an excellent choice! With a party of 10, there were various other dishes at our table. I tasted quite a few and everything was really good--the chili relleno, quesadilla, chili Colorado, chimichanga--all good from the bites I had, but the fajitas were my favorite. I had a good experience at Angelo's. I ordered a burrito late one night when the staff was cleaning up before closing. They didn't bat an eyelash at the late order and prepared my food quickly. The burrito was quite large, and looked tasty, but it came with a serving of chips and salsa. I have a serious monkey on my back when it comes to chips and salsa, and it had been a while since my last fix, so my hands were shaking and I was getting the sweats. I scarfed them pretty quick before any more symptoms of withdrawal, like hallucinations, set in. As I reaching a fried tortilla, tomato, cilantro state of euphoria, I didn't have any more room for my burrito. After coming down from my high the following day, I decided to tackle it. I took a big bite after aggravating its molecules it in the microwave. It was still fresh and delicious after sitting overnight. Good job Angelo's, but I need more of your chips and salsa. I just ate at this restaurant and had the most memorable occasion to date with Spanish cuisine or in this case Mexican American flauta. I wanted service and I got service Muy grande. I wanted good food and it was generous fresh and good tasting. I got at least three servings if not four or five for $25 including beverage and napkins salsa tortillas three flautas chicken flavored rice beans sour cream guacamole chips and a pleasant overall experience that I will walk to now that I found out they aren't open on Sunday I'll just have to make a mental note that it'll be probably a Saturday the ambiance was nice moodd lighting and I could hear myself think a friend joined me and we both had a good time thank you for a stress-free experience God bless you see you next time read more

Best deep fried crunchy chicken tacos ever! Love their homemade salsa. Beans and rice are small portions, but just enough after mowing down a basket of homemade corn chips and fresh pico de gallo salsa. 5 stars for food and nice service. I really look forward to eating here when I'm in Lodi. They have inside or outside seating. It was hot yesterday so we chose to sit inside with the cool air conditioning. I noticed they have 1 big large round table that seats 8 people and it can be reserved. That's awesome for larger families and friends. read more

We used to love this place , went all the time. Then it took a turn, food wasn't consistent so we haven't gone in a year or so. A friend said it was good so we tried it again. My mom, myself & my 2 young grandsons went & I had 2 tacos & beans & rice, my mom the same. One grandson had beans & rice, the other just rice (small portions) 2 adult drinks & 2 child drinks. The food was ok but not worth the check of $65.00! Really?! 65 bucks for tacos , beans & rice? No special drinks , no extras . I've tried all the top rated Mexican restaurants in Lodi and I don't like them. They don't have the flavors and taste that I grew up with but Angelo's hits home. It's the only Mexican restaurant I prefer to go to when I'm in the mood for enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and beans and rice. Their margaritas are also pretty good. read more

Exceeded all my expectations based on the 3 stars. We moved to Lodi last year and have not found a Mexican restaurant that's authentic and similar to our favorite spots in Stockton. Angelos is the spot. For some reason Lodi peeps favor Mexican restaurants that are more cantina style, no thank you. So glad we gave it a try! I'm baffled! I don't get why this place has such low reviews. It deserves better! I have very high standards for Mexican food. The food here is very good, fresh, and quickly served. I give the flavor a solid 9 out of 10. The horchata here is also SUPER good. It's hard finding a place that has good horchata made from scratch. Free chips and salsa the second you're seated, which I thought was very cool. Service is great; very friendly staff. I loved the ambiance. It's a small but very clean restaurant. Prices are average (for a restaurant). People complaining about prices obviously do not take in consideration that the costs for everything have shot up! And having employees aren't free. Leasing a restaurant space isn't free. Especially where it's located. If you can't afford this place, save your pennies and go to Taco Bell. They have a dollar menu there you MIGHT afford... ;) read more

If I could give zero stars I would! This was my first time here and it will be the last! Service was very slow. Food was bland. It was hot inside. We ordered a top shelf margarita. They don't have a drink menu. RED FLAG! When I looked at my bill I was shocked. The margaritas were EIGHTEEN DOLLARS A PIECE!! WTH? Even in the Bay Area a top shelf margarita is around $10-11! The margaritas were too sweet. This is why their drink prices are not on a menu....so you can get that shock value when the bill comes! To top it off when we were ready to leave and pay their debit card machine had to be CHARGED! WE HAD TO WAIT FOR 20 MINUTES longer just to pay the bill so their machine could be charged!! I should have left NO TIP. They should have given us a discount because we had to wait to pay. I can't believe this place is still in business. I will be going elsewhere for sure read more

I soooo much want this place to be better so when visiting local family, we go here. (Sigh) the food is average, the green salsa (you need to ask for it) have good flavor and a teeny bit of heat, bathrooms are filthy and usually out of paper products.... My fiancée and I both grew up in Lodi and live in Sacramento now. Growing up, Angelo's was a family gathering spot for special occasions and "just because" dinners on the weekends. Whenever we come to town to see family it's a must go-to place! Today, we took my fiancées family out for his mothers birthday. The food was just as good as we always remembered, and our server Raquel was fantastic!!! She was more than accommodating (even if we had her going back and forth with more requests lol). The food was just ok. We've been here many times in the past and loved it. We don't go often since we live in a nearby town. We decided to drive to Lodi to eat here. The service and food were mediocre. The quantity of food was way smaller than in the past. We each got a tiny scoop of beans and rice. We both got quesadillas that were lacking in cheese....I mean it was there but barely. I understand the cost of everything has increased and caused people to cut back but you can't take too much away or you lose customers. Sad sad sad. read more

A chili the size of my thumb stuffed with??? And then wrapped in half a pound of egg saturated breading. When we brought it up we were told we only use a small chili. This place is always great when you want simple Mexican food without the bells and whistles. They're quick, friendly, affordable, giant portions, and everything you'd want. As a vegetarian, I've never had a problem finding something on the menu to eat and they've always understood any substitution requests. They earned extra stars in my book when, during the COVID pandemic in Summer 2020, they had outdoor dining which was a real treat. Since then, they've been doing great indoors with masks and keeping the tables extra clean. If you're headed to the movie theatre or the WOW Science Museum, definitely stop here for lunch or dinner. read more

We found a New Mexican Restaurant to go to for sure! We were in Lodi over the weekend and had seen Angelo's before, so since we felt like eating Mexican food we decided to try it out. Place was clean, we sat down and got service pretty quick. The food, was amazing. I had the Chicken Fajitas and I swear each time I order some anywhere I love seeing the chicken and veggies just shooting off steam when it comes to the table. Smelled amazing. Now this can go one of two ways for people. I personally like my meat charred a little, and it was. The chicken was cooked to my own preference, not that I asked for it but it was perfect for me. My wife likes her chicken a little more soft, so she would have eaten it, but it would not have been her preference. So if you're like me the charred chicken and veggies was a 5 for sure. My wife had the carnitas, and the meat was perfectly cooked and tender. Now the rice and beans sometimes can just be eh, but here they're full of flavor. I don't think I've tasted beans this good before, they were great. My wife agreed. The salsa was perfect for us too, more of a tomato taste to it than spicy, and since we don't do too much spicy it was perfect. We asked for some to take home with our chips lol. My father in law had the beef flair as and he said it was great too, he literally cleaned his plate. We will be back again for sure, Lodi isn't too far from us so I can see driving out on a Saturday again just to eat here. Our server was on it, checked on us regularly, kept our drinks full. One funny thing, which I can only assume it's due to focus, but they put a large sheet of white paper on your table, and then remove and replace for the next group. If I could give them no stars I would. After being told how amazing this place was we ordered from there. I ordered a carnitas lunch burrito supposed to come with rice & beans. Plus carne asada fries. We also opted for chips and gravy. This order cost $32. My Son went to pick it up. His asada fries were made exactly how I ordered them. My burrito weighed at least 3 lbs. It was an carne asada burrito with sour cream, guacamole, cheese and salsa. The chips were totally stale and no gravy but 2 orders of refried beans. I usually don't complain about local restaurants but really not pleased at all. I still can't get over $32 for the meal. I didn't eat the burrito nor the chips. My Son enjoyed the fries. This place is absolutely disgusting. I went there once and I saw roaches scattering everywhere. Needless to say I couldn't even finish my meal and we left. Not only that but the couple that I think owns the restaurant are extremely unhygienic. Especially the woman, she's about 300 pounds overweight, food stains all over her shirt and her armpits are drenched in sweat and made whatever area she was in stink. I would never go here, it's just generic Mexican food In a nasty dirty building ran by dirty unhygienic people who overprice their food. For what? I would give this place 0 stars if I could. About disgusting and disrespectful of the owners to serve people in a place like this.
