First time here for me and my wife while we were out in Lodi for the afternoon. The place has a great setup inside, a lot of big tables, plenty of seating, and lively music that fits what they serve. I went with the steak fajitas and they came out hot with a good mix of peppers and onions. Plenty of flavor and a fair portion. My wife ordered the shrimp and fish tacos and those ended up being our favorite. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and put together nicely. We also tried a strawberry margarita, which was good but could've been sweeter. We to visit this location, probably every of the month to get our seafood cravings over with. And that would usually consist of the ceviche cups or sometimes the oyster platter. As soon as the location opens usually around 11 AM it becomes very busy but not sure if they take reservations as we just usually walk in and kind of wait a couple of minutes and then we are seated or sometimes they ask us to see her self. I really enjoy the service that we get here every time we do visit because everybody that helps us out is very pleasant and nice and cordial. They do play the music very loud as if replicating you are in a live concert lol but sometimes it helps bring out the vibes depending on if somebody is celebrating an occasion. The atmosphere is kind of set up like a sailor ship or something rather but of course pertains to the sea. They do offer other things on their menu and they also serve alcohol beverages if that is of your interest. Their parking lot is shared with other businesses around the area so sometimes it's difficult to find a parking space. You may have to circle around a couple of times, but when you are at your table, you automatically Brought a appetizer size ceviche with crackers and tostadas.. for those that do enjoy picking out music their selves they do have a modernized jukebox that's located towards their back wall before reaching the restrooms. Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was very lively and full of music and families. Every booth was filled which told me all I needed to know... this place is legit. Service was welcoming and staff made sure we had everything we needed. As for food they started us off with a fish ceviche and tostadas instead of the usual chips and salsa which was impressive. We ordered two fish tacos and shrimp empanadas and washed it all down with a classic margarita. The fish tacos were beer battered to perfection and had plenty of flavor, I forgot to even squeeze lime on it lol. OK this has the second time I have been here. The first thing that I want to say that I like about this place is instead of giving you salsa and chips they give you ceviche, which is really good. They have all kinds of seafood that you can think of and that you love and they also have other stuff like fajitas, this is what we tried this time and they were really good and we will be back again to try of the big seafood plates. Service was great and the ambience was pretty chill. So if you are in this area of a Lodi come try it out. The food is top notch! Pleasantly surprised with the generous portions. Flavor was great complimented the food without taking away the seafood taste. I recommend the Levanta Muertos plate and it's big enough for 2. Ceviche appetizer instead of the standard bowl of tortilla chips is a nice touch. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been here multiple times over the last couple years and have spent hundreds of dollars here . I've been food poisoned twice. Keep in mind we drive from Sacramento and this was my go to place for seafood. The first experience after eating here I found out I was pregnant, so assumed I was sick from that. I gave this place a try again after my pregnancy and was so was deathly ill from the raw oysters for a second time and the appetizer ceviche. My entire table was food poisoned as well. We experienced diarrhea for multiple days, extreme vomiting so bad that I busted blood vessels in my face. When I reached out to the restaurant just to Inform them they had an attitude, and brushed it off like if I purposely decided to ruin their Thursday afternoon by informing them How sick I was and I was very polite . I never asked once for my money back nor was rude just wanted to give some Information to the manager since everyone was sick and I've been hearing around town how people were becoming sick from the raw oysters. At this point I wish I would have got a refund for my mother in laws dinner. Such a waste of $168.00 plus I tipped 50 bucks Wow I Could have took her else where. Thanks to management for not taking this issue serious or returning a call. My wife and I decided to venture around the town to see if we are missing out on any spots and boy did we miss this hidden gem!! The outside doesn't tell the story on what's really going on inside. You can tell this establishment is supported by the locals. The neighborhood is predominantly Hispanic, which is great because the food will be much more authentic. You can certainly feel the culture once you enter, the servers allow you to sit anywhere you'd like and the wait time wasn't too bad. All in all good service. Now the food: I could taste very flavored as each dish was perfectly seared and flavorful on the inside. I truly enjoyed each dish, the best thing I liked about the food is it was very fresh. Okkkkkayy.. 3x in one month and I am not from the area. They have complimentary ceviche and tostadas! And it fresh tasting. The first time I had the fried fish Al ajo. There was a nice crunch to the skin and moist meat. The garlic sauce was delicious. The table ended up using it as a dipping sauce and we ordered some to go. Of course.. that's if you like garlic sauce. Had the empanadas to share. They had a disney flare to the batter. It tasted like corn dog batter filled with shrimp. Will for sure get that again. The 2nd trip I had the camarones a la Diabla. Spicy but so flavorful. It wasn't a burn your mouth spicy it was a spice with a kick of sweetness or tangyness (I don't even thing that's a real word) To share had the agualies. Well balance with lime and chili. Not to cooked or raw. Shrimp had a well balanced texture as well. Also had the seafood pineapple. Great for the gram but the flavor gets repetitive. Don't get me wrong it's good and different but I did have to different sauces to it. Personal preference. For the kiddos I had ordered the popcorn shrimp. There is nothing popcorn about them. It's larger shrimp in a nice thick batter. It's a good portion for being a "kids meal". My 5 year old and 9 year old both enjoyed their meals. Service was on point. I got the asada plate because I'm not a fan of sea food but it was really good I had no complaints it was well seasoned. The only thing I would of liked to see if more non sea food options for those who would prefer steak or chicken. Even if it's just tacos or what not... I would come here again.. price for 2 meals and 4 beers came out to 70$. I guess that's standard price for restaurants anyways. Also they only have paper plates which was fine with me I didn't mind but I guess some people would care. One of my all time favorite Mexican mariscos!! The food here is always so good and fulfilling. Full of flavor and large enough for two. The drinks are delicious and refreshing. The surroundings is always a vibe! Very colorful and full of culture. They let you jam out at the jukebox so the vibe depends on who's playing the music. The service is always good. I did have an incident recently with them forgetting my tostada mixto and adding another drink into my bill but they apologized and accommodated my drink for next time so no complaints because nobody is perfect, especially when busy. The pina rellena is a beautifully presented pile of seafood on a half pineapple. Its fresh, flavorful and a good amount of spicy. It's also huge. Be hungry. Especially because you will also enjoy the complimentary ceviche they start you off with. Micheladas are also very good. I'd opt for the smaller ones, which still come perfectly mixed and topped with shrimp. You can order big ones where they turn your bottle over into the drink and then pour spicy sauce all over it. We arrived for dinner on a Friday, so it was no surprise that the restaurant was fairly busy. There were a couple of tables open in the back, but it was unclear whether to wait for someone or to just seat ourselves. After a little while, hungry, we opted to just grab a table. As we did so, a server handed us menus and set out some ceviche and tostada shells for us immediately, which was appreciated. The noise level here was fairly loud. So,, if you're looking for a place to have quiet dinner conversation,this isn't. it. It's about on a bar with a sports bar during happy hour. We ordered the bass fillet plate with rice, beans,and salad and the steak and shrimp with cheese. While we waited for our food, a woman walked up to our table and handed us a note asking for money because she was deaf. She was stopping at every table there, and it was our turn, I suppose. I shook my head, no, and watched her continue to the next tables one after another. I asked a server about whether the staff knew about the women going from table to table begging, and he said they knew, but the management allowed it, so there was nothing he could do. Interesting. The plates of food arrived, and the portions looked impressively generous. The fish portion was two whole bass fillets, and the steak and shrimp was a large pile of protein! We were hungry and dug in. The flavors of the entrees was good. I'd ordered the garlic sauce with the fish. It complemented the bass well. The beef and shrimp was good, too. Then, I tried the beans and rice and was little disappointed by how salty they tasted. Not quite sure what happened. At this point, a young man with a guitar started to play. Ah, music with dinner... nice. But after an initial song, the young man started to move from table to table asking if people wanted to pay for a song from him. No, thanks. We just wanted to be able to enjoy our meal and converse. ****** Short answer: the service was prompt and courteous, the main entrees were good, the ambience was interrupted by begging, and the side dishes were too salty. I give an average of 3 stars. I would like to come back sometime in the future to see if the dining experience is different. On the other hand, I might also hesitate to return if I didn't feel like being considered a target for money contributions. The other Mexican food places I've been to pays the musicians outright, so they do not nee to try and scratch out payment via tips. read more
