This one's for you Road Trippers who are passing through Gillette and are reading Yelp looking for a place for dinner ... Look, I know better than to order Mexican food north of California or east of El Paso, but we'd been on the road with kids for several days, and they were jonesing for burritos. Las Margaritas more than met their expectations. I wasn't a big fan of the chips, but the kids liked them. I wasn't a big fan of the bean & cheese burrito, but the kids liked it. I wasn't a big fan of the nachos, but the kids liked them. I ordered the carne asada plate. It was a terrific piece of meat -- as good as I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant -- cooked flawlessly, served hot. What it didn't have: That carne asada marinade and spice that a Californian might expect. All in all, you're sitting in your hotel room in Gillette, wondering whether to try Las Margaritas? I'd write that it's A-OK. It's not going to remind you of East L.A., but it will satisfy your family. If I were to pass through Las Margaritas again, I would ask the owner or my waiter to have the kitchen cook/spice food the way they would do for themselves. When I asked for Tapatio sauce to flavor up the asada, I got a knowing look and smile from my waiter -- yes, he brought a bottle to me -- so there's no doubt they could prepare dishes in a more "authentic" style, if asked. read more

So so Mexican food. To be completely honest I didn't think any of the food had that much taste to it. I ordered an enchilada and a tostada. I wanted beef in my enchilada and thought that that would be the only place where the beef would go but it also went on the tostada as well which didn't impress me all that much. Some redeeming points was the rice which was ok and kind of a spicy slaw which I think was the best part. Even the salsa for the chips seemed kind of tasteless. Wonderful food and service! I have been multiple times now, and I have never been disappointed! The only reason I'm writing my review is because today, 7-23-2021, an absolutely disgusting woman was harassing one of the workers at the front counter as I was leaving. First of all, the food wasn't terrible. I mean what can you expect for living in the middle of Wyoming? The thing that made my experience "Not Good" was the overall vibe of the place. Interior wise it was a beautiful building but the attitude of the staff was just not it. The waitress was constantly cutting me and my family off during our order and had a terrible attitude. If you were to ask about one of the meals, she would give you an attitude and make you feel like you were not a valued customer. Second visit to this place. Margaritas are good. Service and food were not. We were the only people in the place on a Sunday afternoon. The food tasted average at best. My fiance had some random piece of hotdog (as in only 1) in the beans and another random corn kernel in the rice. Whats up with that!? kinda funny but kinda gross too. My arroz con pollo... stated on the menu as their signature dish tasked like it was made from ketchup or tomato paste in the sauce. Really nasty. We had to go chase them down to pay the check... remember we were the ONLY people in the place?! Employees were to busy chatting it up in the kitchen to come check on us. Wow! Talk about amazing Mexican food! We had a long day in the car and wanted something that actually tasted like food. We saw this place and gave it a shot and talk about a home run! I ordered a chicken chimichanga (guacamole,sour cream, lettuce included) for $5.79. Plus ordered a side of rice for $2.99 and they did not skimp on it. I have absolutely not complaints. I took a bit of my parents meals and the tamales were so good, the burrito express had a kick to it but in the best way - the sauce was fabulous! Oh, and the salsa that comes with chips was so fresh my taste buds were in shock!! What can I say , this place easily gets a 5 star rating from me. read more

I am being really brutal, because I am from San Diego I am spoiled but that was bad no matter where your from. Honestly it was like a glorified taco bell. Same shells and meat..well the taco itself was an exact copy of a taco bell taco you would get off the dollar menu. The beans were runny and had zero taste to them. I also had a "beef" enchilada and a "beef" tamale. I use the quotation marks because I am not sure if it was beef in there. Just really disappointed in the lunch. I am contemplating moving out here for another job, now I am thinking about moving out here and starting a mexican restaurant. Bringing some Southern Cali style mexican food out here. Yummy Mexican and fast service. They do take out. Not at all like east coast Mexican, they don't service peas and green beans in their fried rice like this restaurant does! Get the pollo con crema if you like creamy cheese dishes. read more

Solid option for Mexican food, just off I-90 and close to several hotels. Pretty standard fare for a sit-down chain but the food is better than what you find at most comparable spots. First great meal I've ever had in Wyoming! I come here once in a while for work, and it's hard finding something decent to eat between many of the local restaurants and big chain ones - lots of disappointments. Quality Mexican food in Gillette? No way! Well, I say yes way. How surprised I was upon reviewing the menu. I decided on the Chile Verde, Small pork chunks simmered in a spicy verde sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked and the green sauce had the perfect mixture of flavor and spice. The accompanying rice & beans made for a great meal. The drinks were nicely done. The only complaint was the salsa. Tasteless and runny. If they could improve on that the place would have gotten 5 stars. Came in with my family on a Thursday night about an hour from closing. Ordered a strawberry margarita and it was good but weak. The salsa was ok, not spectacular. The Queso was pretty good though. My mother ordered the seafood enchilada and said it was delicious. My husband ordered the quesadilla ranchero. They were both very large portions. I got the beef and bean tostada with a side of rice. The portion was prefect. The food was wonderful and the service was quick and friendly. I swear the food came out 15 minutes after we placed our order. We read the reviews and it looked pretty good, so we decided to try it..the reviews were pretty spot on. The salsa was pretty plain and runny, rice and beans were pretty plain (but how fancy can you get with these, really). We stopped at Las Margaritas while riding from Salt Lake City to Sturgis. Our hostess seated us promptly, and a waitress almost immediately stopped by for our drink order. The ambience is nicer than what we expected, and the staff was very friendly. Our food came out fairly quickly, and it was fantastic. I'm a bit particular about chicken enchiladas, but I was very pleased. And the refried beans ranked right at the top. We definitely will eat again at Las Margaritas when were in Gillette! read more

Had a bad experience today. Their tacos are not top of the line but today...first the server got my order wrong which they willingly fixed. But the shredded beef tacos were so watery I had a puddle in my plate and the shells were of course soggy. The salsa was also watery with the flavor lacking something, not sure what. My waiter was so kind and patient with me! I took a while to look at the menu because there were so many options!! The gentleman who greeted me at the door was so kind! He came by my table to check on me periodically along with the waiter!! I had the banana margarita and it was delicious. It tasted like banana runts with a dash of tequila. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Gillette. Their staff is always friendly. I'm pretty sure they're all bilingual, which makes the place seem more authentic to someone like me who only speaks English. Everything I've tried on their menu is good. They serve a unique kind of hot wings that I haven't found anywhere else. They must have new chef, this was our favorite place here for Mexican food. The last two times we have eaten here the food has downgraded significantly. Everything is way too salty now, the black beans taste flavorless, the rice is sub par, the presentation is even considerably lacking now. The service is still good the employees are nice, but we don't go there for them, we loved the food, but not so much anymore. So sad, now we have to start looking for an alternative. Stopped for dinner with wife and 2 kids while passing thru Wyoming and staying in gillette. Was not too sure, but after reading the reviews we decided to give it a go and are glad we did. Very authentic and a nice little find so far from California. Everything was good, but I have to say I ordered shrimp tacos and they were OUTSTANDING!!! Best shrimp tacos I have ever had, which is saying something for a native Californian. When in gillette put this place on your list, and go for a shrimp dish. read more

Had better Mexican food and friendlier service at the Taco Bell across the street. The salsa tastes like enchilada sauce with a few chopped tomatoes and onions. The sauce they put on burritos taste like baby food. The rice was incredibly mushy and the chicken taste like it came from a can. read more
