Super slow service, brown lettuce, tough prime rib, they forgot our bread! Our server disappeared. We had to go get the owner to help us

To start we ate the most delicious and tender calamari. We ordered the Senior Prine rib dinner and added the wedge salad for an extra $5.99. The prime rib didn't look as how we expected, very lean but it was surprisingly tasty. Our waitress said the potato soup was good and so we chose that. It was nice with chunks of potatoes with a deep cheddar flavor. The wedge salad was half a head of iceberg lettuce cut in half. It was so huge that I needed to use two plates to cut up the lettuce and toss it wth all the toppings. It was quite delicious and fillings. We also ordered a Rib Eye dinner which tasted really good. To end our meal we ordered the Sky High mud Pie to share. It had delicious coffee ice cream covered in whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate and maybe it was caramel syrup and a lot of chopped peanuts around the edge of the plate. It was really delicious but now that I think about it I think if it were toasted almonds instead of peanuts it could of been tastier to me. Our waitress was so wonderful, funny and attentive. She was good and honest about recommendations and wanted to know what we thought about the calamari because she gets mixed reviews. The restaurant is open to 10 which makes it great for those on roadtrips and want to stop at and have a nice sit down dinner. We arrived around 8:30 and the restaurant was still busy. read more

A great menu with traditional favorites combined with some creative twists that will satisfy the most discerning palettes. An old school steak restaurant with dark wood, a long full bar, plus tables and cozy booths. The walls are decorated by signed bottles that have been happily consumed over time. A wonderful way to capture a moment and boast their expensive wine selection. We were seated pretty quickly, but we had gotten there right at the beginning of dinner hour on a Saturday evening. I'm guessing this place can be busy so pack your patience we're waiting for a table. Service was friendly, but a little spotty and made up for it with a pleasant attitude. Terrible experience here. The waiter forgot our salads we ordered. We paid for a continuous bread service that we also didn't get. The steaks we ordered weren't cooked like we wanted. To make matters worse we felt like we were rushed out of there. Everyone else around us were asked if they wanted dessert, my wife and I discussed wanting dessert but when our waiter came back, we thought we were also going to get asked for dessert but instead, we just got the the check. Not even thank you. Worst dining experience we've had in a long time. We expected better having moved to Wyoming 4 months prior. First and LAST time we will eat here. read more

The service at this restaurant is wonderful. Our server Lyndsy frequently checked on us and was very friendly and professional. Two of our party ordered the restaurant specialty, prime rib. The other ordered filet mignon. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and delicious. The prime rib was sadly lacking. It was delivered cold- a very poor cut with an excess of gristle. We could barely cut it. The server noticed I was very unhappy with my prime rib, and she quickly exchanged it for a ribeye at my request. I've never seen such a poor cut of prime rib at a prime rib specialty restaurant, but the server went over and above to make things right. The replacement ribeye was absolutely perfect and delicious. I'm very thankful to our server for noticing I was not happy with the prime rib and they quickly fixed it. read more

Yes i'm leaving ANOTHER review...... but this one is even better. Sadly I can't have dairy or gluten :/ so I got the chicken cashew salad--and OH MY GOODNESS. Let's just say it was worth every penny (except someone else paid for me, so bless their heart.) Our server was FANTASTIC-- super nice. There was a big group of us and they cared for us wonderfully. It was really enjoyable. My husband got the steak sirloin with french fries--and omgoodness their french fries are everything Love love love!!! My family and I attended a sizable retirement party at The Prime Rib over the weekend and--wow. Let's just say the "Ultimate Dining Experience" fell spectacularly short. Chief offender: the bartender, AMBER. To set the scene, there were more servers than seemed necessary, they were tripping over each other -- like a 5-to-1 ratio--and yet service somehow managed to be both lackluster and offensive in terms of attentiveness and attitude. I'm not unreasonable; I've worked in busy environments, I understand waits. But I do expect at least a shred of hustle, professionalism, and basic courtesy. When my 75-year-old mother and I approached the bar to order drinks, AMBER made eye contact... then deliberately walked away, picked up her phone, and started scrolling. When we politely said, "Excuse me?" she turned her back, tried chatted with a coworker who was hustling, and continued serving others while ignoring us. When she finally wandered over, her greeting was--in a monotone, sarcastic voice--"...oh, you want to order a drink...?" Excuse me, AMBER, is there any other reason two people would be standing at your bar? What were you expecting? A query for directions to the nearest mechanic or historical points of interest?? An unsolicited conversation about our Lord and Savior?!?? No? Then yes--shockingly--we were there to order a drink... from the bartender. The audacity! And let's talk about hygiene. Watching AMBER handle cash, smooth back her greasy flyaways, twist her nose ring, and then--without washing her hands--dig into the garnish tray to fish out limes and cherries before plopping them into customers' poorly made drinks.....absolutely revolting. The fact she then slapped a fruit garnish directly into a patron's hand because she forgot to put it in their drink in the first place was peak secondhand embarrassment. As for appearance--AMBER, maybe spend less time maintaining your "money piece" highlights (which were trendy about seven years ago) and more time on your overall professionalism, customer service, and basic sanitation. Yes, management was contacted. And no, we didn't order another drink from her--which is a shame for her, considering we were there for nearly 5 hours and she could've made some serious tips. An early lunch called for a stop in Gillette, Wyoming at The Prime Rib Restaurant. Service was great. The menu was a little intimidating, but I finally found something I thought I would enjoy. The space is suitable to hold decent sized parties and events as it has several different private dining areas. It's all very well kept and neatly designed. The food left something to be desired. The fries were great, but the chicken avocado wrap just didn't do it for me. And the five cheese grilled cheese was lacking flavor and had too much crunch. However, I loved all of the empty wine bottles and feel of the place. I'm still giving four stars because I think we just ordered the wrong things. And if you serve me a pickle and my favorite fries, that's good enough for me. read more

Wow. Fancy place so I expected it to be expensive ,it was. 1. My 17 yo daughter got a turkey panini she thought it was good. 2 . My food however I got the prime rib I ordered it medium came back from the kitchen completely brown in the middle I sent it back she then braught it to the owner and basically blaimed me for ordering it medium and then she says u ment to say med rare. She came back with the perfect looking prime rib. First bite complete salt is all I tasted just salt I'm friggin pist couldnt eat it ill give it to my dog. Oddviously they did it on purpose. Great lunch in Gillette WY at The Prime Rib. Although I am trying to get back on a vegetarian track this was my first time into this excellent restaurant so opted to go with their namesake dish. Very tender and seasoned perfectly! Started with some delicious Escargot! Service was excellent and even the bread was tasty! Wine lovers take note Fantastic Reserve Cellar at very reasonable prices. Dominus 1991 at $289!!! We had the stuffed mushroom appetizer, a salad, a soup and two prime rib entrees. Food was all good. Atmosphere is nice, a little upscale (as you'd expect) however, we weren't out of place in jeans. Solid four stars from this Yelper. Service was fast and friendly and plenty of good selections. The seafood chowder had great flavor with shrimp and salmon being very prevalent. I asked for Prime Rib medium well and an end piece and got it! The Au Jus was great for dipping the bites of a Prime Rib in and the baked spud was cooked just right, as were the steamed veggies. Was told the side salad would only have tomatoes cucumbers and onion, yet it came with almonds and cheese. I had to wait awhile for the waitress to come by in order to get a new salad because she sat in a booth behind us talking to someone for quite awhile. Husbands steak came out medium-rare and he had asked for well. They fixed it as it did come back well done but with burnt char on the outside. My seasonal veggies were over cooked and my husbands weren't cooked at all or very little. The baked potatoes were good and the potato soup. Mixed drinks were okay--bartenders could use some training though. The food is NOT worth the price. I eat reluctantly here about two to three times a year and I have never really had a good meal-it's always mediocre and a few times it has been horrible. We actually overheard another customer say his food was awful and he sent it back to be completely remade. If you like mediocre food and service, you'll love this place! read more

Was definitely ready for a slice of prime rib. Decided to add an appetizer of escargot. The escargot was possibly the best I have ever had!! The prime rib with baked potato and veggies was good. Would have preferred for it to be more on the rare side (ordered medium rare). Potato was excellent and loaded with butter and bacon. We stopped to stay in Gillette on our way to the west coast and really wanted Wyoming prime rib. So we stopped here since it specialized in prime rib but we were totally disappointed and the prime rib was horrible. Prime rib in CA is far better than here. We ordered the senior cut and the large cut. Looked dry, no juice on plate, tough to cut and chew. I left over 1/3 on my plate as it was inedible. We believe the meat was reheated, not freshly cooked. Mashed potatoes and aujus were luke warm. Drinks were delicious, good happy hour. A wasted $100 meal! read more

I am sure this is the best restaurant in this part of the state I had a great small filet minion with what they call Asian slaw which was a delightful surprise. Don't you hate watching other people be seated, served and leave before you get your entrée? We have had good experiences here previously; tonight was a bit of a letdown. The waitress didn't know what the special was, and my partner didn't get exactly what he expected. That being said, the prime rib and New York steak were tough but tasty and cooked to order.
