The food and service was good. . There was Plenty to eat on each item we were served. Prices are comparable with other restaurants. The Staff was pleasant and our orders came out in a decent timeframe. Only negative was the staff was extremely busy, with many tables etc.. so they didn't come back as often as would be normal for follow up... refreshing drinks etc. But sure it's due to lack of people wanting to work .. so we will go back. If you like hospital food you will love Las Margaritas restaurant. I came here because of the reviews saying good food. What are these people eating ??? I feel deep pain for these people. Please venture out of Ocala!!! If this is the best of Ocala my goodness... RUN!! Since I had to charge my car while continuing our trip down south and we were all hungry we decided to give them a try. I ordered the fish tacos, my daughter the pork with rice and beans and my husband the ground beef tostadas. Every single dish tasted so bad. So this wasn't an isolated bad plate of food. The chips and salsa are mediocre at best. Mexican food is a gift! It is packed with fresh ingredients, spices, and delicious flavor and heat. Everything was flavorless, it lacked common sense ingredients like SALT. How do you not put salt on your food??? My fish was cooked with no seasoning! The pork was what made me say ok forget it. This is horrible food. Also When food is served quickly that should be a red flag. It was room temperature borderline cold. It is not fresh and you could tell the food has been out all day and served hours later. I almost never leave a bad review, as I take them very seriously but this was such a huge disappointment. How they are serving this food to human beings is concerning. They should be ashamed of themselves. Las abuelas Mexicanas are rolling in their graves. The only reason I left them two stars was because our server was pleasant and the restaurant is decorated nicely. However the menus are plastic they should be paper given the pandemic. Food was decent. The food is overpriced for what you get. I also didn't get the guacamole that came with my meal. The chocolate milk didn't have enough chocolate, but I'm not here for the drinks. The server wasn't as attentive as he could've been, but it was completely packed inside so I won't hold it against him :) I would go back again and try something different. read more

Cinco de Mayo celebration at Las Margritas was horrible! The food was just ok, but the Margaritas were the issue! They served Margaritas in 8oz cheap plastic cups, no alcohol could be tasted, and charged $6.00 for that When I challenged the manager to prove he could get a shot of tequila and the other ingredients in that 8oz cup, he said "ok, I'll be back". HE NEVER CAME BACK TO THE TABLE! After my challenge wasn't met, the neighboring tables chimed in with their displeasure over the plastic cups and the size of the plastic cups. This is the 2nd time here, the first on a Sunday, now Thursday evening. Drinks decent, food decent wait time makes you not care about eithet! By myself at the bar more then a 30 minute wait. I was getting ready to ask for a check, since I finished 2 drinks, when the food showed up. Waitress was nice said they are just opening and new apparently can't handle the people. We've only been there one time, and perhaps they had an off day, but they served us one of the worst meals we've ever had at a restaurant. We are pretty familiar with Mexican and Mexican-American food, and this was absolutely disappointing. Their quesadillas are made with American cheese - yes, you read that right. Not chihuahua, oaxaca, asadero, or even Monterey Jack cheese, but yellow American cheese. The Chicken Acapulco special was a dried piece of chicken breast with a few small pieces of mango on top - no sauce or anything. And the beans that came as a side with all of the dishes were completely dried and flaky, as if they'd been sitting out for a while. Giving them two stars because the service was good and the decor was interesting. But I would never spend money on food here again. read more

Passing on to customers the 4%-5% fee that a credit card company charges you is, you are going to find out, a big mistake. When I got my bill this afternoon and found that I had been charged $2 because I used a credit card and not paid cash, I simply did what the couple seated next to me did -- we deducted 4.5% from what would have been a 20% tip for good service and left 15.5% instead. You can raise prices all you want, but what the credit companies charges you is a fixed cost of YOUR doing business. It makes one think that your restaurant is doing badly and that you are grasping at straws or trying to squeeze just a bit more out of your patrons after you already just raised prices. So I found my new fav! This place is definitely a must. They have happy hour all day everyday which means 2 for $6 house margaritas! I ordered a beef chimichanga which was good. My mom got the chicken chimichanga which was ever better and I usually hate chicken chimichangas but this one had grilled chicken sorta fajita styled. It was really good. I ordered a side of spicy salsa and it's definitely spicy. I ended up just mixing a bit with the the salsa they regularly give you but it's perfect for adding to tacos, etc. The atmosphere was great. Music was perfect, place was clean, friendly attentive staff and there was a wait (I went at 5 on a Friday) but the wait went pretty fast I ordered a drink and the table was ready before I got to take a sip. Lol. All in all a really great spot. I was too stuffed for dessert but I'll definitely be coming back! I would recommend this place to anyone that likes good food and drinks! Almost forgot their menu was one of the best I've seen. It detailed every, had tons of options, listed substitutions and stated what everything came with. Listen Linda, when one thinks of Mexican restaurants around your brithday, one thinks of those with the classical birthday celebrations: feliz cumpleaños being sung while wearing lovely sombreros, salty tequila shots, and most importantly, rubber chickens. When I informed our waitress it was my friend's birthday (21 +6 years of age) who wanted the classical Mexican birthday tidings, she silently judged and walked away probably thinking to herself, " What a blonde dumbass". Honestly, I was apprehensive about trying this place since I have heard many mixed reviews around town. However, I'm glad we did go. We went on a Sunday and the restaurant was full of families enjoying a meal together. The decor is incredible with bright colors that are very pleasant. My husband ordered the pick 3 and enjoyed everything he had. I ordered the fish tacos with corn tortillas. My only disappointment is that they were supposed to have avocado slices on them, but instead it came with an avocado sauce. The other thing we really liked was the salsa and chips. Fantastic place! The menu variety is amazing, and even with chicken there are many toppings and flavors to choose from. I had the Chicken Margarita which I I attached. Sauce was nicely sweet and included garlic and mushroom.The salsa is the best I have had in a mexican place...fresh and simple. The service was fast and cheerful. There are at least a dozen other dishes I want to try. Can't recommend this highly enough...the place was very busy on the saturday I was there and I could hear other people raving about their food. Awful. The decor is fabulous. The place looks fun and festive. But ... I knew I was in trouble when I tried the chips and salsa. The salsa is mass produced canned salsa... probably from New York City. The presentation of the food was very nice. The flavors left much to be desired. Nothing tastes scratch-made. I'm sure it's all from a bottle or a can . I tried every thing on my plate and disliked it all. We moved two years ago to south FL, but are going back this coming week on January 8th (Wed). We went here two days ago and had Carlos for our waiter. Good service and good food. Went to check out, asked if they gave veterans discount. Carlos said yes. Now for the one star, I gave them a little over 20% tip. Found out through my card that I guess Carlos did not think that was enough and took an extra $4.00 out. I will not go to this restaurant ever again if they are going to rip their customers off. It is $4 but if they do that to 100 customers a day. That adds up to a lot more than what they should be getting! If they want to discuss this with me. I have the original receipt that I can back up what I am saying! So if they do this to 50 customers a day every week that is an extra $1400 a week. Just letting people know to look at their charges when going to this restaurant. Contacted by the Restaurant and they rectified the problem and refunded me the four dollars. I am happy with the refund and the food was good and the services was fast. read more

When they were contacted regarding all of the issues, the manager was very rude and not helpful! Blamed everything on Grubhub (maybe the smoosh aspect, but the wrong orders?!?!?). Awful food and awful service. I would never eat there again unless forced to (like I was this time). My fajitas was 1/2 plate of onions and little else. When I pointed all the onions out that I had pulled out of my dish to my waitress Maria all she said was "sorry". And that wasn't all the onions on my plate just the majority of them (I could not get them all there were so many). $16 for a half of plate of onions. We walked in and we were greeted with smiles and chose to take a seat at the bar since the dining room was packed to the brim. I head read that the salsa was from a can or jar but when we got it with 2 carafes full of fresh salsa complimented with a basket of hot, toasty chips. The margaritas are 2 for $6 and they hearty and full in your choice of frozen or on the rocks. I got the combo and had a hard taco, Chile relleno, chicken tamale and an enchilada. The decor of this restaurant very authentic. I liked the idea that there's a person dedicated to replenishing chips and salsa. We ordered the Tropical Seafood entrée, steak fajitas, and fish tacos. Unfortunately , after a long wait, my steak fajitas had no "sizzle" and it was evident that our food had been sitting to be served. In my opinion, I just had the worst meal. This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and it will be the last. I had a shrimp Quesadilla, the shrimp was good but the onions were tough and the shrimp was overcome by cheese that tasted like Velveeta. The salad was limp and the only thing on the plate other than the 6 shrimp that tasted halfway decent was the refried beans. The staff was courteous and efficient. There are several Mexican Restsursnts in Ocala that are excellent, so from now on We will be bypassing Las Margaritas. read more
