It's been a while as we moved away from the area. So, we took an opportunity to drop in recently - and their Chicken Karaage taco is still just as I remembered it. I don't think you can get this anywhere but here, and it will keep me coming back! They have an extensive menu now tho, and so many new things to try. Hub loved the stuffed peppers, and their chips are always so fresh and crispy. The sangria is filled with fruit and so refreshing. We moved to Greenville at the same time Asada started their food truck many years ago in the West End, and those are sweet memories of ours and their first days. The food here is fantastic! The cashier guy was super nice and friendly and explained the menu really well when we asked a bunch of questions and gave us some recommendations. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito, which is apparently only available on weekends, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge (I only ate half and took the other half home, and it reheated well later) and everything was flavorful. My husband got a chicken taco and a carnitas taco, which were bigger than a normal taco size, and they came with chips on the side (you can swap for rice and beans). I've never had yucca cheese balls before but ordered them after seeing someone get this and they were delightful! I saw some people get arepas too and they look delicious too. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon and the parking lot was full, but it's right next to ihop which has a huge parking lot so we just parked there and walked over. Disclaimer: This review is for the chosen tacos. Traveling from Austin, and thinking about moving to Greenville, we are looking forward to returning for more exquisite choices. Finding a latin-cuisine in Greenville is not so expected, so we were excited to come across this place. The green salsa was fantastic. Perfect spice and, most importantly, full of flavor. The carne asada taco was very good for what was expected in the area (not California and not Texas). The fish taco...not so much. A lot more breading than the fish, so it was like biting into a tortilla filled with puffed/fried breading. The slaw was not at all flavorful. The size of the taco was decently sized (which we were hopeful for due to the higher taco prices), but...again...not much flavor. The chips were not our favorite either. I imagine the chips were made fried from the tortillas used, but tasted more like old oil. Meal was advertised with pico de gallo, I didn't get any. Maybe the chips would've been better with it...? read more

Looking back at the review I made in 2017, I can still gladly stand by it. Another trip from Atlanta back home to NC? I can't think of a better excuse to visit. Once again, everything was fantastic. The service is always friendly and the food is always delicious. This trip was on a Saturday around 1pm, so it wasn't busy at all. Food was delivered very quickly and fresh. The yuca balls and cream cheese & guava empanadas were a solid choice, as we always order them on our visits. I chose the arepa rellena as my main course and it was fantastic as well. Fantastic! My wife and I shared the steak mofongo, arepa burger, and a Nicaraguan churrasco. All of the meat was cooked just right. The yuca fries were delicious. The mushrooms and sauce on the mofongo were soooook good. The cheese on the burger was fried just right and squeaked while we at least it. The saucesayched each food item so well. How can I give them MORE than 5 stars? Seriously!!!! This might be my favorite restaurant in Greenville, SC!!! Located in a converted house, you walk in, go to the counter, and place your order. They give you a ticket and plan on waiting 15 minutes or so for your food, but BE PATIENT. While waiting you will see beautiful artwork on the walls and a nicely decorated interior. I ordered one carne asada taco, deep fried yucca balls, and guava empanadas. Each dish was AMAZING. I kept thinking "this is sooo good" with each bite. The taco is HUGE. Wish they had just made 3 tacos out of it. Way too much toppings to eat like a taco. I had to remove about half the toppings to be able to hold it like a taco and eat it. With a fork I just ate extra toppings with each bite. The taco comes with chips and I ate the rest of the toppings with the chips. The yucca balls come out really hot so be careful. They have a delicious white cheese inside that is all melted and stringy. Guava empanadas did not disappoint, hand made goodness at its best. All ingredients were super fresh. A place you must try ! We were visiting a friend and was told we had to try to this place out ! Very cute place with beautiful artwork that was available for purchase. We were warmly greeted by Sue and another gentleman. My friend, husband and I were excited to try almost everything since my husband is Nicaraguan and they had some nostalgia Nicaraguan options. We ordered the bolitos de yucca con queso and those were fried to perfection with a nice cheesy center and the spicy queso sauce completed that dish, we then tried the queso Fritos and tostones and that tasted just like how my mother in law makes fried cheese back home... nice and crispy, a little salty, with the crispy tostones and the perfectly seasoned cabbage stuff helped lightened and brightened up the dish. The taquitos dorados was another excellent dish that was full of chicken, fried perfectly and had plenty of cotija cheeses and crema. Amazing! We then tried the chicken karage taco and that was equally as delicious with crispy well seasoned chicken with a tasty slaw all on a tortilla. It was a good size taco ! My favorite of all were the beef empanadas ! I loved the crispy flaky dough that was not oily at all. The beef was seasoned well and I love that there were capers inside too. As I walked in, I could tell that I was at a spot where locals grab lunch (thanks for the recommendation from a teacher I was working with). One of our fave places for burritos ever - reminds me of burritos we've had on trips to southern California. SO big and SO delicious. Most recently we tried the breakfast burrito and it was so amazing. It's a casual, quaint but very small place and small parking lot so beware of that bc it can get busy. We usually do take out. This restaurant is very cute. It's has a modern and small interior so start looking for a table! You order at the front, find a spot to sit down and wait for them to call out your order or number. I've been in Greenville for 6 years and this is the best food I've had in the area. Simply delicious. Empanadas were fluffy. The karagge tacos were amazing- the chicken fried to perfection with seasoning and sauce juxtaposing each other like some orchestrated waltz in my mouth. The fried Yuka balls were packed with flavor. When I think of one word to describe this food- it's "Harmonious". The chef aligns these flavors and ingredients to craft not only an aesthetically beautiful plate, but also a flavorful composition of deliciousness, cooked to absolute perfection. Stopped at arepa along a road trip through Greenville. There are a couple of outdoor tables and ample sitting inside. You order and pay at the counter and then your number gets called with your food is ready for pickup. We tried the yucca and cheese fritters which were good, the chicken taquitos were tasty but the portion felt a little small; and the arepa which was made vegetarian with cheese only per request. The area came out a little cold on the outside which made me thing the arepa shell was not made to order but just filled upon demand . We ate in the restaurant but all our food came in cardboard to go containers which seemed wasteful and unnecessary Overall it was good but definitely has potential to improve. read more

I really hate leaving small businesses negative reviews but I don't know if it was them or me. And what I mean by that is I don't know if It's just because it was my first time trying Nicaraguan food but I ordered the fish taco and the rolled tacos and there was just something so off putting about the slaw that was on top of each. It actually left a really weird after taste. I wasn't sure if it was that or the oil that they used to fry the fish and tortilla , or both. I know this place has lots of good reviews but for me it was not it. When I think of a fish taco , I think of an authentic tasting corn tortilla, a perfectly seasoned, battered fish, fresh cabbage and pico, and a nice crema sauce that is slightly sweet/savory. This unfortunately was complete opposite- the tortilla was dry and had no flavor, the fish was over cooked and the oil tasted foul. The rolled tacos was kinda similar except the chicken inside was very dry and over cooked. My husband did however get the carne Asada burrito and he loved it. Sorry it wasn't a winner for me Asada, but thanks for feeding us anyhow!! read more

Wow - first time visitor / in house diner and possibly the best burrito ever! I had the Carnitas (pork) burrito and my wife the chicken quesadilla. The pork was incredibly flavorful, with just the right (small) amounts of rice and black beans. For a relatively small package, it packed a wallop weight wise. I only had half and it was plenty! My wife enjoyed her quesadilla The location is small, clean with original artwork on the walls. Good friendly service. There appears to be a robust carry out business. Definitely my new favorite Mexican / Nicaraguan restaurant in GVL. Can't wait to try the many other menu items. read more
