We love Mr. Salsa! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. We've been here a couple of times but the most special when we came for my daughter's birthday. They sang to her and she really enjoyed it. The food is good and the portions are large and we've always been happy with everything. read more

This place is as good as, but not really better, than most every other South Carolina Mexican restaurant in the area. If you are new to SC Mexican food, just do it! You will not be disappointed. SC Mexican is like New York Pizza - it's all really delicious compared to the rest of the country. You only get particular when you live there a while, taste multiple different places, and can taste the nuanced differences. If you are a newbie, you should just go, and you should love it. Order fajitas, arroz con pollo, or pollo fundido if love cheese - yum. If you are like me and have eaten at dozens of these type of restaurants, you will find it to be good, but unremarkable. Well that's it, lads! After 11 months I've found our Mexican spot here in Greenville. Located in Taylor's, and more importantly, just around the corner from our house, Mr Salsa is a terrific place for a quick Mexican dinner. The staff is very friendly and polite, and the menu offers a wide variety of options. Their chips & salsa game is very strong, with hot crispy chips and a flavorful salsa that has just the right amount of bite to it. We opted for a pair of draft beers to keep things light, and Kat had the ultimate quesadilla, which came complete with the compliment of beans n rice with guacamole, lettuce & tomato. It was very fresh and she liked it. I forgot what my dish was called, but it was a chicken breast topped with chorizo and cheese, with rice and beans. It was really good! All told between a round of beers, queso, and two entrees we got out for a little more than $40, and we were happy with that. Looking forward to coming back again soon. read more

I went to Mr. Salsa one evening with a group of about 15 after a sporting event. They had tables arranged in advance for our group. Service was very slow. It took about 10 minutes to put in a drink order. Took equally as long to bring complementary chips and salsa. One small basket for about every six people. Not nearly enough as they constantly had to refill the chips. With a restaurant named "Mr. Salsa" you expect the salsa to be pretty darn good. It was mediocre with little heat to it. I ordered the grilled steak soft shell tacos with rice and beans. Portion size was small. The tacos had a small portion of chopped steak and a half teaspoon of pico. Very forgettable. The rice and beans were your standard Mexican side dish. Nothing special. I walked away from the meal wishing we had eaten elsewhere. read more

Can't say enough great things about Mr. Salsa! Definitely great Mexican food. Usually grab their tacos but the fajitas are great as well. And of course the queso dip is a must! TIPS: - The 'Hot' Salsa has much more flavor, and isn't terribly spicy so I suggest it over the regular (the regular salsa is somewhat bland.) - If you get the guac, go with the "Mexican style" guac. I'm not sure why there's an option for a non Mexican style guac but it's basically *just* avocado, and again is rather bland. But the Mex style is great. But that aside, this is our hands-down go-to Mexican place! read more

Please consider printing itemized receipts and writing the name of your to go orders on the bag. You all have us the wrong food, and it was extremely cold. So cold that the grease from the ground beef was congealed. When I called to explain the mistake, you all said "sorry". I feel sorry for the two kids orders I received. They were probably disappointed, too. There's $30 I lost, and you all lost our business. read more

This is normally a decent friendly restaurant however Melanie the "hostess" perhaps need to learn that the role of hostess requires a skill we human beings called being polite. She must understand that customers are Also are bilingual and understand the conversation when you speak poorly about a customer another employee. They really need to update their prices online though because you think you're about to pay $15 and end up with a $30 bill and when I said why she said prices went up... also, it seems like for it to go orders, They charge you more for the item then they would if you eat there and they charge you to go fee when I asked her if they can update their prices online she just looked at me and shrugged... that is extremely deceiving. This is the second time I have ordered take out from Mr. Salsa in Taylors, SC. I have been disappointed both times and will not return for take out. I live 5 minutes away and my order was cold when I picked it up. I was there early to get it and it was sitting on the counter. The second time I ordered, again they told me 10 minutes for pic up. I was there in 5 minutes and again, it was sitting on the counter. The chicken taco was supposed to have a crunchy sell but it was mushy and tasteless. The food was luke warm and the enchiladas were also tasteless. I did receive a big bag of greasy taco chips which I immediately threw out because they tasted like they had been reheated. I've eaten inside in the past and that experience was fair to good. Will never do take out again! read more

The food at Mr. Salsa was some of the most bland Mexican food that we have ever had. We sat down, and for some reason the hostess only gave us one menu to share. When the waiter came to the table the table we asked him for a second menu and he did bring one to us. We did find it odd that at a restaurant named Mr Salsa the salsa was bland and had very little flavor. Given the amount of Mexican restaurants in Greenville that have actual salsa bar's with 6-10 salsa's you would think that Mr Salsa would have at least one good, fresh salsa. Going over the menu we were having a difficult time trying to figure out what to order based on the descriptions. For example the burritos are just covered in "burrito sauce" We even asked what "burrito sauce" is and were only told that it was a red sauce with some onions in it. Great, I'll try that. I got a combination plate with a chicken enchilada, beef burrito, and chile relleno. My wife got the pulled beef fundido. I'll go over the combination plate first. The chile relleno was just an almost raw ring of pepper filled with barely seasoned ground beef and a little cheese melted on top. It was a far cry from a relleno which is should be a stuffed poblano pepper with cheese and sometimes with a meat in it; then fried in an egg batter. If a restaurant is unsure of what a item on the menu is they can do a quick search of the internet and get the answers. The burrito had the same bland ground beef (the seasoning tasted a lot like Old El Paso taco seasoning) and it was in fact covered in the infamous "Burrito sauce" and it was as advertised. It tasted like canned tomato sauce with some onions in it. The tortilla was dry on the outside and pasty and mushy on the inside. This made for an unpleasant texture during the bite. After thinking about it we think that the only way to get this to happen was to use a dried out tortilla that has been sitting out all day instead of a fresh one. Finally the the enchilada. The chicken was very bland and had almost no seasoning. But the real star of the show was the "enchilada sauce" We have had enchiladas all over the west and in Mexico and that being said we have never seen "enchilada sauce" that looked or tasted like this. First it was a strange brown color and it tasted almost like nothing, but what was strange is that there was one flavor that could clearly be identified, corn starch. The sauce was just corn starch paste. I do not even know how they got it the color that it was. The other item was the beef fundido. Surprisingly the shredded beef was actually pretty flavorful. The problem was once again the tortillas. The same stale tortillas that was in the combination plate were used in the beef fundido and once again it led to a very unpleasant texture. The fundido was at least decent. Mr Salsa was very underwhelming and very bland. The food seemed like it all came out of cans and very little of it was made in house. When we can make better food there is no way to give more than two stars. We are giving the second star because it at least looked clean and we didn't think we would get sick eating there. read more

Meh... Not a fan of this place. Ordered a To Go and when I walked in there I was not greeted, just looked up at by a girl at the register on her phone. When I approached, I let her know I have a to go order and she took my money and it was a thank you, your welcome transaction, nothing further. There was an order on the counter ready to go and I asked if this was mine and she said no it was someone else's and said yours isn't ready yet. Ok... so awkwardly I stood waiting in silence on the side. I had ordered my food about 45 minutes from pickup and was told it would be done in 15 when I called in. Which I get it, it takes time to prepare but at least a conversation or I'm sorry it's still being prepared would have been nice.. Finally food arrives and the girl bringing it out was nice and said sorry, just wish the cashier/hostess would have been. The food smelled and looked really good when I opened everything up. Unfortunately, food was not great. First the chips were bland with no salt... I tried to look over that because the queso dip we ordered was decent. Our entrees were flavorless, my order was the chili relleno, beef enchilada and ground beef taco. My chili relleno killed it all for me, it was a pile of cheese covering a pepper, the ground beef in my enchilada was so dry and wrapped with a soggy tortilla covered in sauce I couldn't finish it. My husband's was the same dry ground beef and so was his tamale. My kids ordered the cheese enchilada which was the best tasting out of this whole order. I wish it was a better experience and the food tasted as good as it looked and smelled, I probably will not return. read more

Not clean for Covid. I placed an order to go and walked in. The lady walked up with gloves on carrying money, a broom in one hand and a trash can in the other. She did not take the gloves off and was getting ready to take my card. I asked her if she was going to change her gloves and she said she did not touch food. She got an attitude and asked if I wanted her to change her gloves. I said yes. She shook her head and just took one of the gloves off to take my card. She then walked to a table with that same hand to get my food. I will not be back especially during the pandemic. Off the whim we popped in, due to the packed parking lot. The service was fast and efficient! We were quickly sat, orders taken and food delivered. Free Salsa: Free salsa is always good and this had some positives but some negatives. The positives was the hot salsa had a wonderful heat but also flavor. Another positive where the chips; they were fresh, crispy, and not to thick. The negative was the mild salsa, it lacked anything that resembled flavor and tasted like blended up tomatoes. Quite disappointing. The cheese dip: was ok, nothing special and no really distinguishable flavors; other than the cheese (bland). The bowl was nifty and the price was reasonable, but I have had many better white cheese dips. The Burrito, taco and rice: First off the Rice is HORRIBLE. Dried and no flavor (guess we have a theme going on). The burrito was covered with verde sauce and was very good. The flavor profile was nice and was not spicy (till I added the hot sauce lol). The taco was a normal taco, a little to juicy, but a bit messy. Red hot sauce: I had asked for some hot sauce. I think there was a miscommunication (glad there was) on hot sauce. I would have been ok with the Glass bottle with Wood top; but she asked me a few questions then disappeared. She returned with a small dish of red sauce and sat it on the table. I quickly grabbed a chip and cautiously dipped into the red, thick substance. BAM!!!! Heat, heat, and more HEAT!!!! But the flavor was good!!! Dabbed it all over the food and let the sweating begin. Added a major wallop of heat and created an enjoyable moment. Wish I knew what this red substance was and wish I could take some home for my chili!!! Price is as normal as any other Mexican restaurant. The lunch prices are much more reasonable and there are a lot of choices. read more

Not gonna lie. This place gets props right off the bat because they bring regular and mild salsa out to you without you having to ask. At some restaurants you practically have to beg for the mild salsa but this place? Delivered right to the table! (Also, chips and salsa is free. Yay!) So besides the chips and mild salsa I also ate cheese dip and the chicken chimichanga. The cheese dip was a little thin when it came out. I ate some of it after I finished lunch and it had thickened up a bit. Our meals came out very quickly. The chimichanga was smaller than what I normally get for the same order at other Mexican restaurants but it was delicious and completely covered with cheese! We really enjoy lunches at Mr Salsa! The fajitas are great and not greasy, unlike some other Mexican restaurants. The enchiladas are tasty, as well. The guacamole needs some more seasoning though. We usually have to add a ton of salt and pepper for it to taste better than just mashed avocado. The service is quick and attentive. read more
