LM REBANADA TIRAMISU, that's how it was entered on register for $6.49. I was craving soft cake, strawberries & sweet cream and what I received was the complete opposite. I love this market. Delicious food and dining area. They have an area that sells drinks, desserts and smoothies. They have a well stocked carnicería and bakery. A lot of different grocery items but today I want to compliment the panadería. They have fresh delicious Mexican bread throughout the day. The bread is soft, little sweet and very good. The best thing is it is very affordable and not high priced like some panaderías. I usually go all the way to Union City but stopped because it seems post covid they have ridiculously raised their prices. The bread I got at Monańas today would cost me close to 30.00 for the same amount. Montańas bread is a better quality. read more

All were ok with fish being my least favorite and it's was breaded with panko and fried. Topped with shredded iceberg lettuce and thousand island-like sauce and diced tomatoes. Always passed this market but never went in til recently. Upon entering i was impressed by the beautiful, vibrant decor as well as the impeccable cleanliness! I came in the first time to grab a couple of ingredients for dinner and there was a good selection available. I was really excited to see a food counter & smoothie/refreshment counter. The first time i decided to grab a smoothie, and that smoothie was ON HIT! It was so yummy! I told myself I'd be back to try some food from the food counter as i imagined it would be delicious. Went back in for dinner a couple of weeks later and it was pretty good! A bit on the pricier side I'd say. But that's in comparison so a standalone taqueria. This is one of the best merchandised Hispanic Markets that I have ever been to. This market reminds me of the grocer that I would go to with my grandmother. It was called Petrini's in the Central Corridor of SF. However, I was able to choose a clown cupcake every time we went (every day). This bakery reminded me of just that. Las montañas sold a fruit cake with mildew to a family member. She is an old lady and did not inspect it closely as no one should! You expect food that is being sold to be in good condition and to be edible. Pretty upsetting because this is a 30$ pastry for that price it is very disappointing that it wasn't taken off the shelf and sold in that condition. You can see the strawberry with mildew. There was no way we were gonna eat even part of it. You can see that the peaches are going bad too because some changed in color. Once again someone elderly going to buy food they wouldn't noticed. This is a fully stocked Mexican market with fresh meats and vegetables. They make their own tortillas on site as well as tostadas and potato chips. There is a separate section for just fresh made and purchase cheeses, sour cream, and salsa. This store overall is very well stocked, clean, and the staff is friendly. It gives the feel of commonly found markets in southern California, where there is a cafeteria style Taqueria along with various other options for ready-made and made to order foods. There is a section where you can get smoothies, fresh made juices and other Mexican snacks. Last time I was there they are making fresh pupusa's on site in a griddle that you can see in front of the registers at the taqueria. This is the second time i come here for lunch and leave disappointed. Although the store looks great and everything looks organized the customer service is not the best. Kitchen area has a lot of food options. The first time I came, I ordered a salad and I was disappointed because it was not fresh. I gave them another chance and returned and while i ordered one item i was not asked if i wanted a combo of 2. After receiving my food, I realize that I paid more than what I wanted. I was not offered a drink, and as I was trying to eat the food here they gave me the food to go. Once I was questioning them, they seem to be very dismissive. I came here Saturday midday and I was so amazed by everything that I came back today, Monday! Las Montañas is a popular chain in the northern part of the east bay and I'm glad they're expanding. Everything is way better priced than other Mercados/carnicerías in the área. When you walk in, to the left, there is a little section of premade biónicos, yogurts, fresas con crema, salsa , crema, etc. In this area you will see premade foods and somewhat of a restaurant style menu. They have everything from pupusas, quesibirrias, flautas, etc. they also have family meal deals like 2lbs of carnitas with rice and beans, tortillas, and salsa for $45 or grilled chicken etc. What we tried: Carnitas - 9/10 needed a little salt but still good for a grocery store. Sopes - 9/10 these are HUGE. They really packed on the meat, cheese, beans and lettuce on them. Still not much salt. Burrito de al pastor - we got it super and it was very good. To the right of the restaurant is seating and an Ice cream parlor! They sell milkshakes, ice cream, biónicos, elotes, tostilocos and everything a Mexican ice cream store has. In the middle sections you will find isles of grocery's and fresh fruit/veggies. Everything was very clean and organized. The have a carnicería that is separate from they're dairy which I loved because you avoid a packed butcher section. Once you whip around the corner from all the grocery finds, there is a nice tortillería and bakery. The bakery is really nice. They had all sorts of bread from different LATAM countries. They also had premade cakes and other goodies for sale. Checkout was pretty fast on both days as there were enough cashiers. Upon exit to the right, there is going to be a grilled/BBQ chicken joint that hasn't opened but I'm assuming it will be part of the grocery chain. I Went In Today & Noticed They Have No Veggie Options For Those Who Are Vegan Or Vegetarian. I Had To Create My Own Tacos Since They Only Had Cactus Salad, Rice & Beans. Not To Mention My 2 Tacos Were Little Over $7. Even The Young Girl That Took My Order Emphasized The Tacos Were Small. Definitely Not Worth $7+. Today, Associates Did Not Seem As Happy As Opening Day. I Understand People Get Tired & Mood Changes However, It Was Night & Day From Opening Day Til Today 4 Days Later. HAZARDOUS UNSAFE MEAT. If I could give zero stars I would. The people working in the hot food area were very rude and unprofessional to my grandpa when he returned the RAW carnitas he received. The workers tried to reheat the same undercooked meat and serve it back to my grandpa. They were telling him nothing is wrong with the meat and did not want to refund him. After arguing with him he said I know you're young and you can't cook but this is not acceptable. The older women working were pleasant and apologized. I have been to the one in Hayward three times and in Concord a few. I just love the way it is so big, clean, with amazing people working there, that always go above and beyond to make you feel appreciated and happy. The store is sooo clean, and organized. Went to order my pan de muerto, and when I picked it up was, ready and so fresh ant tasting like oranges. We also ate there and all was good a fresh, for dessert we had the Nutella and strawberries crepe, delicious. They also let u sample food. I used to be a Cárdenas Market customer, but I had a few big disappointments, not enough tongs to get the fresh bread, so many people stick their maybe, dirty hands and grabbed the bread, I am not going back to buy bread. Was very disappointed today to find that the advertised hours online were incorrect. I arrived at the store, where it clearly states on the door that Monday-Sunday they are open 7am-9pm, yet the doors were locked. I rely on this market and I'm confused as to why anyone would turn away business? There were several other people who came to the same conclusion as me in the store parking lot when they couldn't enter either. Eggs over easy were overcooked, no gooey yolk , queso frito was not frito. It was gooey, mushy, and too white. Platanos needed salt. Serving size generous, price was a little high. This is a new Latino Supermarket where the Big Lots used to be. There is ample parking which is great and brings a lot to the shopping center. They have a larger variety of food options from Latino foods, desserts, and snacks to buy at their food centers. The supermarket has all your essential groceries and produce. The store is very clean and beautiful inside. There a bakery to order custom cakes and can have fresh tortillas made in house daily. The service provided by all the staff I interacted with was great! The only thing I have to say is that I wished all staff spoke English so that non-Spanish speaking customers could get the same service without the language barrier.
