It's slightly overpriced for the quality of food. It is one of the better cuban places you'll find in downtown. If you're willing to drive, you'll find better places around town. The best part of this place was learning about guayana soda (however, you spell it). I usually don't drink soda, but that brazilian soda was delicious! I got the cuban sandwich here and it's typical. Nothing special, so I'd say you can get it anywhere and slightly less pricey. This place does the job to get your cuban fix, but it's not my go to cuban place. read more

We ran out of Cuban coffee in the office and i couldn't make my world-famous coffee, so I decided to go on a little exploration trip around the downtown area for some. I walked by Las Palmas and saw that they had pretty good deal for a breakfast special advertised and popped on in. This place is very hole in the wall-ish, but lets be honest, what good Cuban cafeteria isn't? For five bucks I got myself some scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, hash browns, toast and a café con leche. Talk about bang for buck! It really doesn't get better than that. The food was very good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the has brown was crispy as hell. The Cuban tostada was lathered with generous amounts of butter, just how I love it. The coffee was pretty on point too. Some of the nastiest food I've ever had. I order the scrambled eggs with bacon. The bacon taste like oil.. which means they don't change there oil much. I asked for bacon that wasn't crunchy and I received a response like I had three heads. The nice lady did say should would change it for me but gave me back the same bacon. Like literally I threw it in the trash after a few bites. The cuban bread was nasty not flavorful and buttery. Most hole in the walls are gems but this one just throw it all away. The food way OK, Not awsome just OK. I ordered a delivery and they had said 20 to 30 minutes. I called to ask for my food a little more than 1 hour later and the girl who answered the phone said "it's on its way, you have to wait for it. My room mate invited my boyrfriend and I to have breakfast here one day and we went. It's your typical mom and pop cuban spot. They have a great breakfast special and accept credit cards. Breakfast is only served till noon so get there early. They make fresh orange juice for you and the cuban coffee is very delicious. My friends got the steak and eggs with a side of sliced tomato. I had the scrambled eggs and cheese. All of our orders are served with cuban toast and coffee. The most you'll spend here on one breakfast is $8.00. They also have milk shakes, I suggest the wheat (trigo) milkshake, very YUM. The place is small so if you go make sure yo go with good friends. read more

It's a hole in the wall but you will get your breakfast served exactly the way you want it. If you decided to sit at the counter you will have instant service within an arms reach away. The Cuban coffee is delicious, it will give you mounds of energy for hours. The owner and all the people working there were very personable. We chatted with him for a while and it turns out he is also originally from New York. We had the bacon and egg special and it came with yummy buttered cuban bread and french fries and coffee all for like $3. They do charge an additional service fee to order breakfast when it's not breakfast time which I kind of though was just silly, but whatever. It's not like the place is expensive to begin with. We also grabbed some empanadas to go. Apparently they don't make all different types of empanadas. They made specific types on specific days. On the day we went it was ham and cheese day. We ordered a bunch. The crust was nice but when you bit into it after the cheese was all melted the inside seemed really hollow. It was still tasty nonetheless just not very filling. read more

As I was ordering said cubano, the owner interrupted and said I really must try this amazing beef stew. Not wanted to be discourteous but set on my cubano I said I'd try a small portion of it. Little did I know that he told the waitress to completely change my order to just beef stew and rice. This could have been endured if only the stew was as amazing as described. Meat: over cooked and dry- he claimed it was melt in your mouth Stew: cold, tasting somewhat like canned stew....no, it was exactly like canned stew....no, it was absolutely canned stew, with big junks of potato added. Rice: again, over cooked into mush Beans: they were beans....not much else could be said Salad: shredded lettuce and three slices of tomato, honestly, the most enjoyable part of the meal. You know, knowing that I'm visiting from another state, he could at least tried to leave me with a better impression of Cuban food and manners. I guess only locals get the good stuff, everyone else gets pushed old stew from yesterday that they need to get rid of. I couldn't even finish it, I knew I'd hate myself it I did. My review is specifically about the Croquetas here. I thought this Las Palmas was owned by the same company as the one on 8th street & 60th, but it's not. The place is small and quaint, the staff is very nice and accommodating. I've had other lunch specials here and they've tasted great and inexpensively priced. It's in a very convenient location in Downtown Miami too. I definitely recommend it for breakfast & cafesito time. The Croquetas are not great, don't order them. They are the frozen kind from a box that you can buy in the local supermarkets which is disappointing.
