Fantastic food! Everyone in our party of 7 tried something different and everything was delicious! Will definitely go back.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch at Las Palomas this week, and it was DELICIOUS! The restaurant used to be a BBQ joint - very dark - and they've completely redone the decor. Lots of windows, very light and airy and welcoming. Even the parking lot has been redone, with new blacktop and plenty of parking--with shade in the back (a plus in the summer heat)! The layout of the restaurant makes it easy for the servers to see who is waiting to order or pay their bill. I really liked how both servers filled in for each other to "share" customers; if one was free and an order was up, it was brought to the customer, even if that person didn't take the order. Great business model! No one had to wait and everyone received excellent service. The food was, again, DELICIOUS--very fresh and obviously homemade. The complimentary tortilla chips were homemade and crispy; the picante sauce was very mild. I ordered the shrimp chimichanga, and it was barely deep-fried (which is good, as I don't like heavily-fried foods) but light and tasty, with yummy shrimp and a soft, fresh flour tortilla. Next time I'll ask for a little less of the queso sauce, but it was still tasty. My lunch came with sour cream, guacamole, a lettuce and tomato salad, and rice and beans. The rice was definitely homemade--very light and very well-seasoned, as were the beans. And the guacamole was perfect! My husband had the lunch combo $5, and while he didn't say much he completely cleaned his plate, which is a testament to how much he liked the food. (He's pretty picky when it comes to Mexican cuisine.) We had a FABULOUS lunch and are SO glad that Las Palomas is in the neighborhood! We'll definitely be back! Cute spot! We got immediately seated. The chips and salsa were put on our table as we were sitting down. That's the quickest I've ever gotten them lol! Amazing! I always get the al pastor street tacos . These ones tasted pretty good but a little off and I wasn't wow'ed by them. However the portion size is great and the rest of the food is great. It was also $17, with a side of beans and rice with no drink and that seemed pretty expensive for street tacos!! Yikes!! However the waiter was super nice!!! read more

Las Palomas has one of my favorite Happy Hours in Kansas City, and recently extended to 6:00 weekdays Great Margaritas and delicious food offerings. The Margaritas are strong, and the HH Nachos are a meal by themselves. We typically sit at the Bar, so not sure if HH is available in the entire restaurant. Bartenders and servers are always very friendly. I have never had anything which wasn't delicious, but my go to dinner item is the Guisado de Puerco. read more

Came back for another try and it was amazing again! This time I tried the Trio chicken enchiladas. Each one/sauce was bursting with flavor. My companion had the fajita quesadilla and they loved it. We had the coldest beers, fresh chips and salsa, fabulous service, and beautiful colors on the plates. I'm in love with this place! read more

This is my second visit & brought my BF. We got seated immediately on this early fri night. We started with the house marg & pina colada. The marg was on the bitter side but my colada a good sweet cocktail. The queso is silky & definitely cheesy. We dipped our chips in their hot sauce post cheese & it added another level of heat to it. I got the Alameda (steak, grilled shrimp, peppers, cheese) picco, guacamole, tortillas & a side of beans. My meal is a nice portion so I had leftovers. Our server did a great job checking on us & fulfilling our requests. After seeing HH specials, definitely need to take advantage of it in the future. Stopped in after mum shopping for some lunch. We were offered to sit inside or out, and we chose outside because of the lovely weather. We ordered a michelada, shrimp ceviche, and the torta cubana. 1. Michelada in a barrel is probably the only way I'll accept a michelada in the future. 2. The shrimp ceviche was fresh and tart, everything I want in my ceviche! 3. The torta changed my brain. Three different meats, with avocado, cheese, lettuce and tomato? Yes please. I would order it over and over again. Having just moved here from Southern California, I had resigned myself to just not having Mexican food anymore. An a-ok neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The menu features most of your favorite dishes and sides. Seafood and breakfast options are available, too. My chicken chimichanga was served smothered in cheese with a side of rice and beans and my server made sure my drink was full and I had enough salsa and chips. Found this little hidden gem on 75th St. this building used to house Wyandotte barbecue now is occupied by Las Palomas Mexican Grill that is an amazing restaurant. First time visiting as we entered around 1 o'clock establishment was empty after the lunch hour rush made our conversation nice and cozy with the quietness. Started our lunch out with strawberry margarita and a frozen strawberry daiquiri. Have a lunch menu we ordered chicken chimichanga that came with rice and beans. Chicken is very tinder and flavorful covered with queso , rice and beans were delicious.but we had to get more chips and salsa as we sat and talked for two hours our service was very good.. So if you're near 75th and Metcalf, I want to try out a new Mexican grill stop in and give them a try. read more

The service was ok. The waitress was nice, pretty chill. But the food is only catered to a specific group of people with an unfortunate taste buds because ain't no way that was real Mexican food. I just know they don't make that low quality bs at home. Nursing home residents would even be pissed for wasting their time if they had an evening trip there. The only good thing that had a hint of flavor was their loaded fries. We were better off going down the street to Mi Ranchito, Dos Reales or Abelardo's. They don't ever miss. read more

We had a great meal and service! It's a cute spot and we all really enjoyed our food. I'm watching my blood sugar but the dish I got (pictured) was perfect with so much protein and veggies. Nice what they did to transform what this place was before (an old very tired bbq place) into a very nice decorated comfortable restaurant. We were there early before lunch rush to grab a couple tacos so this isn't a full review but the tacos were pretty decent good. Will come back to try the rest of their Mexican cuisine. Service was friendly and we liked the sauce and chicken tacos were pretty good. Taco shells broke down to where we had to eat with a fork so maybe they were homemade? Pictures attached. I liked the extensive menu, good service and nice portions at this new restaurant during my dine-in lunch visit. My two enchiladas lunch ($12.00) included two nicely sized enchiladas (with choice of meat) and generous portions of rice and beans. The meal was served ten minutes after I ordered at the table. I wasn't a fan of being given only a dinner menu at lunch and having to ask for it. I also wasn't a fan of the small credit card fee. I noticed a bar area with a happy hour and a clean, recently remodeled dining area with a mix of booths and tables. Overall, pretty good. read more

Went here on a Friday night and it was packed but just the right level of packed. Sat at the bar and the vibe was great. The service was great and the hostess / our server was a part of the family business and just had great service and attention to detail. Got margaritas which were huge and delicious! The food was great (recommend getting the spicy salsa for a local kick) Ended up getting the chimichanga and it was delicious. I need to try other things on their menu. Will be going back, if you want to try a new Mexican place and want just all around good vibes I would highly recommend giving it a try! read more

We ordered online for pickup. We were nearby and it said 15 minutes prep time. By the time we got there, it had been about 10 minutes and the food was just ready right as we got in so it was perfect timing. Their online order process is easy, you don't have to do a big checkout, you can just mark it if you'll pay cash or charge when you get there. Sometimes going through all the steps of an online order process can be so annoying, so that was nice. We were a little disappointed that some things like soft drinks couldn't be ordered online, but it wasn't a deal breaker. We both ordered chimichanga meals. I got the entree meal and Mom got the lunch portion; mostly because the selection I wanted (steak fajitas chimi) wasn't on the lunch menu. For the $7 price difference, the size of the two items seemed the same, although mine did have guac with it and I'm not sure that hers did. Mine had steak, which I'd assume is a higher price than her chicken as well. The packaging was great and kept everything very tidy on our short drive home. We liked the clear lids that were labeled to make it easy to identify whose was whose. It smelled and looked so fresh and delicious. They also included a bag of chips and 3 containers of salsa, which I was happy to see because you never know if a restaurant will include that or if you need to order it. Sadly, despite the beautiful, fresh appearance, the food was really flavorless. There was an extreme lack of seasoning in the beans, the rice and the chimichanga fillings, even the cheese sauce and chips were very bland. The steak was plentiful and smelled so nice and grilled, but no seasoning. The veggies were more like steamed than cooked down like you want fajita veggies to be. They also had no seasoning that I could detect at all. I ended up eating the wrapper, using what I could dab of the cheese sauce and scraping the filling over to the side to doctor up later. When I finished up the leftovers later that night, I ended up adding some extra seasoning and even some queso sauce we had in the fridge from our grocery shopping that I was able to ramp of the flavors. Mom said her chicken chimi was also pretty bland and boring. We'll try my doctoring up methods on it for her today so it won't go to waste. The salsa was good. I had to salt the heck out of the chips. The chips were irregular in places, which I'm assuming they were maybe fried in house. They weren't bad but there were some scrap pieces that were thicker and fried kind of oddly which made them chewy and oilier than preferred. They gave us two "regular" salsas and one that I noticed later was a slightly different color and I confirmed it was their hot sauce which I did try but was exceptionally hot for our little wimpy family (haha). I'm not surprised though since several of their menu items were labeled very hot. I'm glad I was able to notice the difference so I was cautious. An unexpecting person might not have realized it was their hot version and had quite a surprise. In the end, yes we were disappointed and unlikely to return. It's a bit much to spend nearly $40 for only two meals and have to doctor them up to make them enjoyable. It's a shame as it seems they do prepare items fresh, but you've gotta add some flavors to your food, please. read more

My husband and I were hungry for Mexican food and decided on a whim to try Las Palomas. We were absolutely not disappointed. The restaurant itself was very clean and bright with an open feel. The meal started with chips and salsa. The salsa was mild, yet very flavorful. For our entrees, I got an enchilada meal with rice and my husband got fajitas. My meal was solid, but nothing different from any other Mexican place. My husband said his fajitas were very good and included many large pieces of steak. What elevates Las Palomas to 5 stars included two things: the service and the cheese dip. I have a disability and use a wheelchair. Staff was waiting at the door and opened it for us, which was really helpful. Our waiter was also very attentive without being annoying. But the definite star of our lunch was the cheese dip. We eat at Mexican restaurants a lot and, thus, have had many cheese dips. Most places give you melted white cheese, which I have always liked and never had a problem with. But this was different. It was very rich and creamy. We ended up putting it on every single thing we bought to eat. I highly recommend Las Palomas. I'm going to be dreaming about that cheese dip for many days to come! read more

We just went on for our second time tonight. It was a little late, so it was pretty quiet. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our servers both times were attentive and staff that walked by picked up the used plates and silverware on their way past. We have tried quite a few things (multiple visits with multiple people) but my personal favorite is the Pollo Con Espinaca. They sear the chicken and the flavors are layered beautifully. I did not find the chairs to be heavy and the seating was all pretty comfortable. This is not far from our house, so we plan to continue visiting regularly and hope they find great success! read more

Really wanted to like this place. Server didn't know the menu well. Never came around to fill up salsas when they said the were going to....multiple times. Very unorganized service. This place has a credit card fee of about 3% that they pass onto the customers. Carne Asada steak was way overcooked with no flavor. Steak was almost white I'm color it was so over cooked. read more

I don't want to say anything that would deter people from coming here so I'm going to list my review as four stars as that is what the restaurant is currently at. I do want to say that the service here is incredible and everybody was so nice. However, the chairs are too Heavy. I struggled with them. I also felt like the chairs were made of the same material that boat anchors are made of. And when I say boat, I mean cruise ship anchors. I wish them the best. They are new so everyone needs to give them a chance. Stop in and try it out. I do not work for the restaurant. I do not know anybody who does work for the restaurant and I am definitely not getting paid to give my opinion if I was I wouldn't have been so committed to complaining about the chairs but try it out. This is a new restaurant in a location I have frequented for 20+ years when it was a barbecue spot. I stopped for lunch and was very pleased. There are a wide variety of lunch specials at reasonable prices. The staff are all friendly and helpful. They have of my favorite Mexican sauces on the menu, mole sauce. It's on the lunch special with chicken enchiladas, but I asked them to substitute cheese and onion and it was divine. It's hard to find mole in Kansas City, so this was a real treat for me. I returned today for lunch with my wife and she was also very pleased. The only downside I have found is they have brewed iced tea, but only sweet. Both times I've been here I've had hot coffee and it was fresh and flavorful. Try it, you'll like it! read more

Great first experience at this quaint new place! The staff was incredibly speedy & attentive. The margaritas are delicious - I had a frozen strawberry and my companion had lime on the rocks. The strawberry and mild without being too sweet, and a line had a nice tartness and a bite to it. I preferred mine. She preferred hers. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. We got a complementary sample of the white cheese dip and it was great too! Wish I'd have taken pictures of anything, but I was too busy enjoying the experience documented at the time. Last night we went to the new mexican restaurant on 75th that once was the home to Wyandotte BBQ. "Las Palomas" It was so good! The salsa is PERFECT! I had the Enchiladas Supreme and they tweaked it for me. I got two beef with red sauce (which is the best I've ever had) and two chicken with green sauce. They were absolutely fantastic! They've redone the interior beautifully. They also have a full bar and the service was top notch! After tax we spent $20 a person. Please go by there and try them out. read more

I had been reading lots of reviews from people on a bunch of restaurants and settled at Las Palomas. The chips and salsa were good. Other than that, I was pretty disappointed. I was hoping for something a little more authentic. I order the Las Palomas Burrito, and it was straight up a cheese covered tortilla stuffed with ground beef. There was a little bit of pico, guac, and sour cream on the side, but not much. Perhaps I should've ordered fajitas instead. The place was almost empty, but the server didn't come over once after I received my meal to check on me. Overall, pretty meh. I prefer Manny's. read more

Overall, pretty good. I got the enchiladas. We went around 5PM on a Friday night. The place, being rather small, was very loud. The other complaint is the tables. They are very tight. Maybe fine if you are 5'-5", but anyone tall (I'm 6-5) or others a bit on the larger side will not be comfortable in these booths. They would have been much better off if they used standard tables with moveable chairs. I would consider take out next time, but with the tables, I won't eat in. read more
