First time here I'm always open for new places to eat so I stopped by today the ambiance calm with some background music and the service quick the server came and took order quickly . The chips and salsa are good but damn the prices are more than I've seen at any Tex-mex place I've gone to recently for the order of nachos fajita $18 I'm sorry but for amount of nachos served on the plate not worth it and the meat was way to chewy . I saw the prices were way over priced but I was willing to get some food but after those nachos definitely didn't want to order anything else I saw the price for mole with pollo was $17 definitely not trying it if the appetizer wasn't great . Nice little spot though I wouldn't go again for the prices I rather be towards the heights area. If this location is connected to the location in summer wood the prices are cheaper there for the same food . A order of full nachos supremes over there are $12 I'd recommend summer wood area . Very delicious food! To be honest I've only ever had the same plate each time I go because I'm obsessed with it, but the meat is so good I have to assume the other dishes that use it are just as yummy. I also love the fideo that comes with the Gorditas Special plate! The service has always been friendly and the interior is homey and comfortable. Thr chips and salsa here are really good! The atmosphere is nice. I've only been here one time and tried one entree. My partner ordered the seafood enchiladas and I ordered the chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas were mediocre. I would give them about a 5/10. My issue with them is the sauce was really watery. The consistency of the sauce was just unappealing and make eating them a slight challenge. I will go back and try another entree because I believe they may have some good entrees. This is nowhere near El Tiempo's level, but man it's good for what Channelview has to offer. One of my favorite parts about Mexican sit down restaurants are the complimentary chips and dip. Las Palomas does a pretty awesome job at it. The chips are thin and come fresh and warm with light sprinkle of salt. They don't come stale or cold. The red salsa is addictively spicy and arrives steaming hot. It has bits of onion, peppers, and other herbs in it that gives it a nice taste and texture. I prefer salsa to be a bit chunkier, but I can't complain. To balance out the heat, they also have a green dipping sauce that's quite refreshing. As usual, I accidentally filled up on the chip and dip before I entree arrived. For my entree, I ordered a chicken fajita taco that came with a cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. It had a lot of cheese on the dish which was nice but not needed for the chicken because the chicken was already pretty flavorful. Too bad it only came with one. The beans and rice were good but nothing too special. We ordered off their weekday lunch menu so my plate cost about $10 which is typical. The service was friendly and they kept our chip bowl stocked so I'm happy. Overall, pretty decent Mexican (or Tex-Mex) restaurant in Channelview. read more
