I'd been looking forward to coming here for quite some time, and I must say it's a lovely place. We had the set menu which had all your basic Spanish style tapas like meatballs, bread (so soft and fresh), tortilla, and patatas bravas. Full carb on carb action! The two stand out dishes for me though were the paella and the pork loin. The paella was made with squid which give it a dark blue hue. This was off-putting for some as they couldn't see what they were eating but I absolutely loved the flavours that came through it and have never seen paella served like this before. The pork loin came on skewers, and seemed to have been both marinaded and then perhaps rolled in seasoning. It was such tender meat and had a really unusual flavour. Don't plan on going on a date after this as you will have garlic coming out of all pores :-) Nearly every dish came with aioli - this was lovely for the first few, but it would be nice to mix it up with some other saucy options too. Everyone was given three individual churros to finish with melted chocolate which seemed to have a really high cocoa content. Really really delicious. The only negative comments I have about the whole experience would be that it was rather difficult to book. They require 10 euro per person deposit for tables of over 10 (refundable up to 3 days before the booking), and you must get the set menu if you are a table of over 10. Being the foodie group that we are, it would have been nice to be able to pick our own tapas - surely that's the point right? And as for the deposit, well it's a bit of a rigmarole to be honest and nearly put me off, though I do also understand the restaurant's perspective. Overall, it's lovely food, the staff are very pleasant, and 25 euro for that whole spread was money very well spent. read more

I really felt like I might actually have stepped into a tapas bar in Spain (though a slightly fancy one at that). The authentic food, reasonable prices and friendly Spanish staff would easily fool you. We got a small (free) glass of Tinto de Verano on arrival. Then ordered 4 tapas between two of us. We had some small spicy sausages like mini chorizo, fried courgettes and honey, the tortilla del día which was with potatos, serano ham and onions that day and then another dish with veg and potatoes. They were all lovely and there are still loads of things on the menu that I'd like to try. As well as the food and setting being really, really nice, the icing on the cake was that the staff were amazing! So friendly and really attentive. read more

I loved it. I am surprised to read poor reviews of the way the owner handled herself as we found everyone to be incredibly friendly and efficient but I guess everyone has an off-night... It seems they hadn't banked on the place being as busy as it has been so I'd imagine they are feeling the pressure. Upon arrival we were presented with a glass of tinto de verano by very welcoming staff, which was really refreshing. The food was just wonderful. There were 4 in our party, including my parents who are self proclaimed tapas-ophiles. We tried 9 or 10 different plates including the special of the day, lamb sweetbreads, which was particularly good- full of garlic. Other favourites were the chorizo in white wine, the bomba de barceloneta and the prawns with garlic chili and oil. My mom was delighted to see pimientos de padron on the menu and they were great, nice amount of sea salt to season them. For dessert we tried the crema catalana and the churros con chocolate. The crema was unusual and not like any I had tasted before. It was fluffy and light rather than custard-like but was nice as it was. All that food and more that I've forgotten, 2 bottles of very nice house tempranillo, and 2 espressos with shots of brandy (I forget the name they gave them) came to €125. Excellent value. A friend of mine just popped a great review on for this place and it dawned on me that I hadn't yet posted mine! Amazing. Literally amazing tapas and even better service and atmosphere. This was a regular haunt when I lived in Dublin and I'd take any family or friends that came to visit to this spot without fail. The iberica ham here is some of the finest meat I've ever tasted and since eating here I've realised that other tapas joints don't quite match up! Your regular tapas options here are spot on as well - bravas and calamari are two to try. Overall though you cannot go wrong here, if you want good food in Dublin, you go to Tapas De Lola! read more

I've been hearing great things about Tapas De Lola all summer and was thrilled to finally get to try it out last week. The restaurant is lovely, both elegant and cosy with decorative tiles and interesting art. The staff are lovely and just the right amount of attentive. After you order you are given a small taste of their tinto de verano and a tapas dish which is a very nice touch. We ordered five dishes between two with bread which turned out to be plenty (and more than could fit on the table at once). The food was good without being great. A lot of it could have done with more seasoning. The beef cheeks and the chorizo with morcilla were both lovely. The tortilla had a great fluffy consistency and was clearly freshly made but was a bit bland. It's exactly as you would get in a traditional tapas place in Spain, its classic food, not innovative but interesting. I'd have to agree with other reviews that its a bit hit and miss, but it is a big menu so that could be part of the problem. That being said, I would definitely go back, it'd be great to go with a group as it has a great buzz, is both vegetarian and coeliac friendly (handy when you have a group) and is very good value (five tapas with some glasses of wine came to 25 a head with tip). read more

Updating my review as I've been back and found it to be a great experience. One of the issues I had before was that some of the dishes were a bit hit and miss. But on return I can say they were all delicious, really really good. The staff here are always good and the location is great. They also brought us a couple of things to try and that's a great idea. We had chicken croquet, pork cheeks, meatballs and potato bravas. We also tried the mussels which were amazing. We had the BEST experience at Las Tapa de Lola and we'll most certainly return as long as summer holds out and we can secure a cool spot on the 'terrace'! What to order: Chorizo in white wine! Seafod Paella/Pasta! Beef Empanada! Tortilla of the day! Ahhh, every small plate will satisfy... On top of all that, we were greeted with a complimentary 'shot' of their signature wine cocktail - 'Tinto de Verano' (color of summer) - which was incredibly refreshing, along with a couple teeny tiny salted fishies on a teeny tiny skillet. Me likey! As for reservations - do what you can to make them at least a day in advance, especially if the weather is lovely! And, here's the scoop: You can reserve a table for the inside section only. The terrace is for walk-in customers and there is typically a wait for this area. So, get there early enough to put your name and phone number on the list and then head to Against the Grain next door to have a drink at your leisure. You'll get a call typically within the hour if not sooner. The outside area is not reserved. And, if you're told that your outside table is being held for a certain time after you, it translates to 'eat and move on within an hour and a half' ... which is fair enough. This is a hot spot this summer and I highly recommend it if they can keep up with the peeps who are practically breaking down the door to get a bite of what's cookin'! That never happens to me We had patatas bravas, lentil stew, panfried chicken, fried squid, chicken croquettes and some free mussels for starter - yeah right, you usually get a free taster!! After all the raving reviews we decided to chance our arm without a reservation early enough on a Thursday night. We were lucky and got the last table. One of the high ones in the middle so the next table wasn't immediately next to you. We were delighted and it was only half 6. We got a complimentary aperitif (something very lemony) while we studied the menus. The waitress, who seemed to be the manager, was lovely and helpful and listed all her recommendations. Unfortunately, we only caught half of what she was saying, cause the noise level was way above average. We ordered some lamb livers, chilli prawns and oxtail stew and two veggie plates on the side. The meat options were nice, the veggies a bit meh and the prawns.... Well you can't really mess up chilli prawns, can you? So to break this down: service solid 5 stars, everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was average and for that a bit pricey. Ambience and noise level: well we couldn't really have a conversation, it was just too loud. We could have yelled stuff at each other to 'out-noise' the group of people next to us but that is never really an option. So I might consider coming back here with a bigger group of people, but definitely not with just 1 dining partner, nevermind a date situation. Nice place, seems cheap and seems to be run by Spaniards, a good sign! The staff are really friendly! Upon arrival, we were presented with a free drink, and while waiting on food, a waiter came over with a small little pot of gezpacho for us to try, it seems that the cook had Just wanted to try something new! The food itself is tasty! There are a lot options but we tried the tortilla del dias, a bit dry but still very nice, some sausages (the name of which has escaped me, apologies), which was strong and flavoursome and I would strongly recommend them. Good points: decor, variety on the menu, staff, quality of ingredients, good desserts. Bad points: noise level, waiting time between dishes, the fact that one dish was brought to the table but we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to get the rest of the meal (not great when there's 3 of you) and being told they're brought as they're being done, dishes over or under seasoned. I like the place but I was not happy with the food (except the dessert). It lacked subtlety. I've been trying to get a booking here for a long time- always to no avail. I could'nt believe it when I got a table for last Tuesday. I was happy as it was my friends birthday and he loves tapas. I was just back from Spain where every second place seems to serve amazing tapas. Thats the benchmark for me so Las Tapas de Lola had to live up to. I love the decor. Its a small enough space but its very well designed. There is a terrace where tables are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Inside all the tables are booked. We were given just under 2 hours which was loads of time. While we perused the menu, we ordered Gin Mare and Tonics. These are large measures served in goblets. We had planned to get a glass of wine but didnt in the end as the gin was sufficient. We chose a few different things including bravas, pimientos, octopus, chorizo with black pudding, and pigs cheek. I liked them all especially the peppers and the chorizo. Our meal for two with a large gin and tonic each, six tapas, a dessert each and coffee came to €89. We left a €10 tip so the total was just under €100. The service is speedy and friendly. This is the closest I have come to eating tapas in Dublin that feel like a Spanish experience. Chanced walking in here on a Friday night (thinking there'd be no way we'd get a table) and were told there would be a 45 minute wait for a table. That was fine with us as there are dozens of bars right beside it. We went for a drink and got a call 20 minutes later telling us the table was available. Great. When we sat down we were given a little glass of a red wine and lemonade mixture - it was lovely. We were then given a mussel each while we reading the menu. The food was really really good. This place came highly recommended, I don't often eat Spanish food but I wanted to try something new, so we wandered in on a Monday night at 6.30pm, the place was empty at that point save for a couple of tables, but obviously they had a number of bookings so we were told we must vacate the table by 8pm. We were seated near the door, but they had a thick curtain there to stop the draft, and the restaurant itself was warm and cosy. I loved the interior, with simple tables, gorgeous green tiles and some Spanish beer and wine labels framed on the walls, with some black and white photographs, coupled with the soft lighting, this place is perfect for a date. The menu boasts an impressive selections of Tapas, with a dedicated vegetarian section. The wine list sounded great, so we plumped for a bottle of wine with our meal. I had the deep fried aubergines, served with a sort of molasses sauce, and they were gorgeous - crispy and melt in the mouth in equal measure. My friend was impressed by the size of the portions, but found her chorizo dish quite salty. I also had the Tumbet - which was potatoes, peppers and courgettes baked in a rich tomato sauce, also very delicious!! The churros at the end were divine in their chocolate sauce, but I wish they offered you 4 instead of the 3, to save you from licking the bowl! We were rushed away from our table at 8pm, to finish our drinks at the bar, but the staff were all courteous and attentive, so I wasn't especially annoyed. The place was very busy, which is a testament to how great it is. I would definitely go back! With 3 tapas each, and a bottle of wine between 2, our bill came to €61. read more

Si si si señiotrita!!!! This place really is all kinds of fabuloso. Let's start with the dishy, authentically-Spanish-and-suitably-hairy-chested waiter. God he was gas, not to mention very knowledgable about the wine & food menu. In fact, his energy and passion for squid meant that although neither myself or my friend thought we liked squid, he convinced us to order the dish, and gosh were we deliriously delighted that we did! My favourite dish had to be the Aubergine though. Now call me biased (because I am officially aubergine's biggest EVER fan), but it was sublime. Fried, but not overly-oily, and ever-so-gently salted... My goodness I could have eaten the stuff forever. This place was sooo good! We ordered so many things but the highlights were the fried goat cheese, the oxtail, and pork cheek. We both got cocktails and then split a bottle of wine. We spent 100 euro but it was well worth it and we were full and happy. I ate at quite a few places in Dublin and would highly recommend this restaurant. While not Irish food, it was a great dining experience in not just Ireland but overall. I would recommend making a reservation however, otherwise there will likely be a wait. read more

This is definitely one of the best tapas places in Dublin. I felt like I was on my holidays. The food was delicious and varied. I'm not a big meat eater, and there were great veg and fish options. Lots there for dedicated carnivores too. I found the staff really friendly and helpful. The free drink and whitebait taster at the beginning is a nice touch. Love this place! Very authentic tapas. The chorizo in white wine is delicious. Perfect payday as bravas, squid ink paella and perfectly tender calamari rings. Heaven on a load of little plates. Attentive wait staff, the front of hour lady is a charming and knowledgable host. 4 glasses of wine (Spanish, good selection of red and white) and 2 desserts with a belly full of tapas for less than 80€. We just had our 20th anniversary dinner here and it was lovely. My husband grew up in Spain and his mom is a wonderful Spanish cook so we are hard to impress - everything was delightful from the tortilla espanola, croquettes, and ensaladia to the sangria. Definitely the best Tapas in Dublin! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, very relaxed with a lovely Spanish feel. The food is top quality, the owners told us they traveled Spain for years researching the best Tapas they could find and this labour of love becomes very obvious when they're tasted. I've been a few times,on each visit trying to taste as many of the selection of tapas as possible. I love the calamari and the chorizo in white wine but my favourite was undoubtedly the grilled goat's cheese with tomato marmalade- which is apparantly imported all the way from a supplier in Andalucia! Just showed up on a Monday night and were able to be seated pretty quickly. There was enclosed patio seating available also. The manager brought us a sample of the Russian salad which was good and also a small tasting of a sweet drink. We ordered 6 tapas dishes and it was too much food for the two of us. They don't have a take away license though, so bring your own plastic container or bring a healthy appetite. I had a really good meal here - tapas were great and the service was very friendly and efficient. The place was hopping on a Friday night, not surprising as this pleasantly just-out-of-centre hub is alive with pubs and music places. There were no seats available inside, so we sat in the terrace and although my feet were pretty cold by the end of the night, the rest of me was warm enough, due in part to my Antarctic-proof coat it must be said. Also, if you aren't partial to ciggie smoke you may not want to sit here, because it falls into that ambiguous outdoor/indoor space (officially outdoor but by christ we're going to make this feel as indoor as possible) that means you will inhale whether you want to or not. I wanted to. Overall a really great, buzzing spot, reasonably priced and the friendliness of the staff gives it an extra edge. read more

The best tapas place I've been to in Dublin. I was very impressed by their selection and some items that I'd never seen outside of Spain and was excited to get. We got a good selection of dishes and they all tasted amazing, the octopus, the prawns, the chorizo... rice with squid ink... pure delight. The only sore point was the wine, we must have made the wrong choice as it was quite disappointing. I finally managed to get myself down to Tapas De Lola last week and what a treat it was. I am a huge fan of Spanish food and tapas in particular and I honestly have to say that this place is one of my new favourite restaurants in Dublin. Located on Wexford Street in a very atmospheric little restaurant Las Tapas de Lola will not disappoint. We arrived early for our booking so went across the road for a drink in Camden Exchange before our meal. We came back and I was delighted to read the vast menu of authentic Spanish dishes. There was only two of us but we ended up ordering 7 plates, which I know is quite excessive but there was so much I wanted to try. The staff were so friendly and helpful and pointed us in the direction of the squid ink risotto and the pig cheeks. These were hands down my two favourite dishes of the night. The flavours were incredible. I was also a big fan of the lentil stew, the prawns in garlic and chilli and the chorizo and black pudding. The great thing about the menu is that the next time I go to Las Tapas de Lola I can try completely new things. Our whole bill with 7 dishes, a bottle of red wine and 2 coffees came to around 80 euro. Undoubtedly good value for money. The amount of great newspaper review from Irish food critics on display in the bathrooms in this place pay heed to what a fantastic little spot this is! My new favourite place to go for tapas! Super cute casual dining spot. All of the staff and espesh the manager were super friendly and helpful. The little place was absolutely rammed for a Wednesday night and it's easy to see why. We got 5 or 6 dishes between two of us and were delighted with all of them. We were also given a sample of the sangria when we arrived, which we happily ordered a jug of. The jug was massive and so refreshing, perfect for washing down each new dish that arrived. The bill incl. tip came to around €25 each. So so so reasonable for the great service and food. I had walked past this place so many times that it was high time i went. I had very high expectations, and i have to say that this place met them all. From the minute we walked into the restaurant, we were completely won over with the charm of the place. From the minute we were greeted by a member of the staff, we felt like we were special. Instantly we understood why this place was always full!! The food was amazing; authentic and delicious. Best tapas in Dublin,hands down! The staff are very friendly and are just the right amount of attentive.Very authentic menu that extends far beyond the bog standard meatballs and bravas. They serve a good few things that I have never seen on a menu outside of Spain,the puntillitas(fried baby squid tentacles) being the most exciting for me.They are delicious!It's also the only place in Dublin that I have come across that has tinto de verano on their drinks menu.
