I don't know if we went on an off day or what the case was but all I do know is the service here is atrocious and the cookies were just not good. We had been dining next door and decided to pop in since my aunt needed an eclair. When I'm in a bakery I'm bound to buy a pound of cookies. The lady behind the counter could not figure out which cookies I wanted even when I was clearly pointing through the glass and verbally telling her which ones. I used correct names on a few cookies and it threw her off so I had to dumb it down and explain like she was 5. After finally getting enough cookies for the pound, she went to ring me up and the credit card machine was slow. I wasn't in a rush so I stood there and waited and waited. Then she told me the card was declined, which was impossible so she ran it again and turns out it had been prompting her, she ignored it, and to prevent fraud the machine timed out the first time. My aunt went to pay wish cash and the employee said the drawer on the register didn't work that well so she had to reach under to manually pop it open and give her change. This happened with each customer that went in here. Listen, technology has off days but she provided no apology and was rude during each transaction. The cookies ended up being almost stale and very bland tasting. Also for what was supposed to be a pound of cookies it sure seemed like it was a lot less in the box. Would I come here again? No, probably not. However perhaps it was a bad day considering all the other reviews seem okay. read more

I want to start off by saying this is not related to the baked products. Those are good. It's more a disappointment to how a situation was handled. I always want to support local businesses, especially in The Bronx, where I live. I also want to go where the product is good, which I have already established. That being said, I ordered 2 dozen donuts for a party for my daughter in November. I paid in full on a Wednesday to be picked up on Saturday. On Saturday morning, my daughter looked sick and tested positive for COVID. I had to cancel everything. I called them and although it was a tough situation, they were initially quite understanding. I felt bad, because they had been boxed up, but I know they would have no problem selling them off, because again, their product is good. I offered to come in and get them so they wouldn't go to waste, but again my daughter just got COVID. They told me to let them know a day in advance and they would get another order ready. I bought pies from them for Thanksgiving and Christmas, each time letting them know that I was the guy with the sick daughter and would be ready for the donut order soon. I had to wait until the new year, as parties are hard to throw for 6 year olds during the holidays. I called them up to get my order going. The lady on the phone was really helpful, setting up a new order. Everything was ready to move forward, until a man in the store that had remembered the incident decided not to honor the arrangement that we had come up with. This is after it was paid for and after I had supported the business on multiple occasions. Isn't the personal connection one of the greatest advantages to supporting small businesses? That went out the window, along with my future patronage. read more

I preordered a 9 inch custom birthday cake for my coworker. It was a simple "M" subway logo! I paid 15 extra dollars to have the cake custom decorated- only to arrive to an undecorated cake!!! Visiting Ny for the holidays my sister in law told me the Banana Creme pie was excellent. So I decided to buy a bunch of cakes for my holiday visits there. I got Boston Creme pie, Banana creme Pie & a Canoli cake , some pumpkin pies. The creme pies like the boston creme, and banana creme were made out of this horrible light fluffy fake cream stuff ( Kind of like Fluff, although Fluff might be tastier) There was nothing creamy about these pies, and how do you skimp on bananas for a banana creme pie? Bananas are cheap! WTF? Everything I bought tased like cheap supermarket bakery cakes. The Canoli cake was a miss, the cream was horrible, the taste generic. The pumpkin pies were the worst, they tasted like it was someones first attempt at making them. I brought the pies to 3 house in 2 days, no one liked them and they all ended up in the garbage, even the pumpkin pies which my family usually inhales. They were that bad. I mean even a halfway decent cake someone would take home with them but no one wanted these things. I was so dissapointed. I spent $75 bucks on cakes that went in the garbage. Booooo Lasalle Bakery!! This place fell off, I used to love their strawberry shortcake and cannolis. I pre ordered a strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries for my mom's birthday. It was ready on time and they wrote "Happy Birthday Mom" for me. When we got home and sang happy birthday I noticed that the cake was not as good as it used to be. The strawberries weren't fresh and the filling was mostly red goo. I'm so disappointed in Lasalle. The cannolis are still delicious but other than that I will not be returning. read more

I use this bakery only because there are no others in the area. I have usually been happy with them although I don't have bakery needs that often. But, just before St. Patrick's Day I went to buy Irish Soda bread. I asked for seedless bread. I also bought a bunch of cupcakes and cookies. When I got home I found that the bread had seeds. I went back to the store to get the seedless bread. When I told them why I was back the woman said that they clearly label which one has seeds and proceeded to show me a piece of paper with "seeds" written on it. Well, that didn't help me and I told her I was still given bread with seeds. So, she gave me the seedless bread. And charged me for that second loaf! Shame on them. read more

It was also kind of strange when I went into the shop the owners just stared at stared at me and said nothing. I've been going to LaSalle Bakery for years but lately I''ve been disapponted with some of their products. I recently bought an assortment of mini pastries for an after dinner gathering. They ALL had a refrigerated taste to them. I was embarrassed. Also, the regular sized cupcakes were dry with what appears as a thin layer of ganache for frosting. They did not look appealing nor did they taste good. I hope this review encourages you to improve some of your products. I'd really hate to stop going there. read more
