Tucked back among other businesses and apartment buildings, you have to know where you are heading. Easy parking. This LaScala Fire was lovely. Open air on a nice night, quizzo-type trivia on screens in the large bar area, plenty of open seating but they also take reservations. The ricotta with honey cheese board is a must. Accompanied by fresh doughy bread, it's pretty darned perfect. The pastas (seafood with garlic, traditional with meatballs, etc) are generous portions served fresh and hot. Pizzas are fantastic as well. Plenty of waitstaff, all were friendly without being intrusive. A good meal. Plenty to take home. Only complaint is that it's a bit pricey. Take a chocolate covered mint on your way out too! read more

I used to love coming here. The veal Milanese was my fav. I ordered it about a month ago and was disappointed. I thought maybe it was just that once so I ordered it yesterday. I had a group of coworkers for lunch here. We ordered bread with whipped ricotta and honey, wings, pizza and sandwiches.. Food came out fast and was nice and hot. I loved the bread appetizer but the wings were just okay. Service was quick with drinks. My sandwich was okay, a little pricey. $17 I expect to be blown away. Large open space with open kitchen. Full bar as well. The service is good and food comes out fast. The pasta with crab and shrimp was decent, the whipped ricotta itself was good, but there was too much honey and the honey was too sweet. It is def the kind of honey that is cut with corn syrup. The warm bread with the ricotta app was delicious though! I also had the eggplant parmigiana (no pic). It wasn't great. The breading was panko style, not traditional Italian bread crumbs, and you could taste the oil needed to be changed. The linguine served with it was overcooked. Stopped by last night and left without any greeting, food and drinks. I come here often since it's at a convenient location but every time I come here, there is an issue and last night was the last straw. First visit: server gave us dirty cups with lip marks on them for our water Second visit: the water bottle had pasta sauce inside, had to ask for a new water bottle. Then after he gave us our food, he wads no where to be seen because he was talking to the hostess. On top of that one of the cooks were walking around with a large headphones dancing. Third and fourth visit: no issue, but poor service. Last night: came here for drinks and apps. Sat at the bar that was covered with dirty glasses. Didn't get a menu so we had to grab one and started to wait. After 10 minutes, the customer next to us started to make small talk about how they're very backed up and the general manager is also the bartender. As we waited for 20 minutes, the customer was nice enough to ask his server if she could take care of us but her response was "I gotta see because I got in trouble for taking care of that side of the bar" after that, we waited 10 more minutes and left. For 30 minutes, we didn't get greeted and had to sit front of bunch of dirty glasses. Even if the restaurant was busy, we should have at least got greeted but it was almost like they thought we didn't exist. What a shame because I like their pizza here but won't be back anytime soon. read more

So we just happened to drive past this place one day while we were hungry and said, " Why not?". I went to the restroom to freshen up, and my husband gathered tips from the host. We sat at the bar, settled on the wings, the ricotta board, and cheesesteak eggrolls. The diamond in the rough was the ricotta board. You should come just for that alone. The eggrolls were not so good, nothing particularly wrong with them, but I have had many better versions. We ended up adding an order of the shrimp, which ironically had been a recommendation all along. We will definitely return. The cocktail menu alone will require more visits to explore. read more

LaScala's Fire occupies a corner 1st floor space in the West Building IN the Promenade at Upper Dublin. This Italian restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is wide open and the décor is modern with mostly white and black accents. They have a large bar along the Dryden Road side that has (8) large TV's. The outdoor seating is along the bar side of the restaurant and there is a large garage door than can be opened during the warming months. My family and I visited on a Sunday night in April a few weeks after they opened. We called ahead and were told there wasn't a wait, so we headed right over. We gave our name and were seated in about 5 minutes. Our server came over shortly after and took our drink order and we put in two appetizers. The apps arrived quickly but my margarita didn't. Our server saw that we were eating and went over to grab my drink. While I would have like my beverage before our apps I have to say it was one of the strongest margarita's I've had in a while. +1 for the drink -1 for the wait. My 19month old son was with us and he had the Arancini (fried rice balls with wild mushroom and cheese) over a plate of tomato sauce. In addition to the Arancini my wife and I shared the Calamari Fritti. The Calamari was fresh, cooked just right but the sauce that accompanied it was just warm not hot. +1 for quality -1 for temperature. For our entrees we chose the Vodka Rigatoni and Mussels in Red Sauce. Both of our entrees arrived steaming hot and we enjoyed them both. Overall I would give the food quality an A along with the portion sizes. The prices were very fair between $15-$26 for most apps and entrees. I think they need to work out some staffing issues but I wouldn't steer anyone way from going here. *They do charge 3.5% for paying via credit card so if you bring cash if you don't want to pay extra. read more

I wasn't sure this place was even going to open as it started construction during Covid. But it is here at last. I am not familiar with this chain and decided to try it out. It's a large place that is spacious, clean, and well lit. It has a very large rectangular bar which I sat at. The beer selection is good, but you have to rely on the bartender or server for the seven rotating beers. It would be nice to have a menu for that as well. The bartenders were very helpful and knowledgeable. Jess was able to provide me suggestions from every part of the menu. I appreciated her willingness to guide me along. I ordered a fried artichoke starter and the chicken parm panini. Everything came out perfectly cooked and hot. The fries were piping hot! The artichokes had a nice balance with the arugula and dressing. The chicken parm panini was very good but could have had more seasoning. It didn't seem like they seasoned the chicken before coating it. The prices are high for the starters. Almost all are $15 or more. I felt they should have some lower price point options. The meal was a lot of food for the fair price. Bottom line, nice place, super friendly staff, and a nice assortment of food options. read more

Not a good experience at all. The waitress was borderline rude. The pizza was burnt, and the spinach salad had large leaves. Salads are expensive for the size. My sandwich came out after the other 5 were almost done. Reason, they had to make the bread?? The first one was burnt. It would have been nice if they had come over when the others got their meal and said there was an issue, instead of me just sitting there telling the others to eat. The manager was indifferent to the issues. With all the other choices in the area, never again. It would have been nice if they offered a dessert or some comp for lousy meals and service. read more

This establishment is total class from the front desk to the servers to the manager on duty. The menu is not intimidating. I had the arancini as my appetizer was so delicious. The misses had a meatball salad. She enjoyed every bite. You can smell the seasoning on that salad Main course I had the Chicken Milanese, so delicious I cleaned the plate. The misses had the chicken parm, nice portion she really enjoyed the meal. Dessert I had the tiramisu and she had the limoncello cake. What a wonderful way to end a great experience. Let me first say the food here was actually really good - no complaints there. Everyone loved their dishes and mine was great as well. The negatives were the atmosphere and service. The restaurant feels very cafeteria-like, with no real vibe to speak of, and the sports bar / italian approach didn't really make sense to me. As for the service, we placed our order with the explicit direction to get the appetizers first, and then the entrees - our waiter completely disregarded that and we ended up getting everything haphazardly and out of order. Wanted to try this new restaurant. We went for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. The place was empty, just opened. Very spacious and clean. Our waitress was very different. She asked us if we wanted any drinks from the bar. On the menu there was a drink my daughter requested. Sorry don't remember but it was some like pumpkin espresso? Again not. The waitress ask the bar tender and she said they don't have it. Strange but any way. So my daughter changed her order to espresso martini. I ordered a margarita with salt and olives. The waitress said that was a strange request. She also said how's your A1c. My son and myself are RN's we just looked at each other. We ordered the following Appetizers- calamari fritters - the don't have it Truffle fries Alicia's Sunday dinner- my daughter nibbled, majority was taken home. Seafood Fra Diablo- my son ate all of his meal Lasagna- good serving size Arrived piping hot- which I liked Requested salt- waitress again commented about my salt intake and what does your Md think about it. I just smiled. I took the rest of my meal home. Waitress checked on us once. We needed to search for her when we needed the check. We left the restaurant without our take out boxes. So I turned around and the table was cleared off. Went looking for waitress and she went to the back to look for it. I believe it was in the trash already, she just picked it up. Went with wife, kids and two young grandkids to a nearly empty restaurant Saturday afternoon. The Cheesesteak Eggrolls were great and while I don't like the Ricotta app my wife and kids loved it. It all went downhill from there. We know the Panninis are huge so my wife and I split one. The grandkids meals came out at 2 different times to the little ones were not to happy. The Pannini comes with fries that we upgraded to truffle fries and they were cold. The chicken in the Pannini had no flavor. The waitress never came over to check after servers delivered the food so we only got to tell her when she came over at the end. Her response to the issue was " Oh sorry, you want the check." Quite a waste of over $100. We will not be back. The are just too many other places to go. read more

This was an interesting experiment. The ambiance is bright and airy. The wait staff was super quick and nice. The appetizer (wild mushroom aracini balls) was amazing. Then the main course arrived. Veal parm was cooked but just so. Sauce tasted like tomatoes but not much else. Lemon crab and shrimp linguine had maybe a tablespoon of crab and 5 overcooked shrimp. No lemon taste, only lemon wedge. For the pricing, I expected more. Finally... pricing was high enough but they added a 5% fee for using a credit card. The standard fee card companies charge is 3% To 3.5%. Fine to go once but I am not rushing to go back. read more

LaScala Fire is one of my favorite restaurants which is why I chose it for my Mother's Day dinner. The food is always fresh, consistent and delicious! We loved our meals: Ricotta Board (10 stars for this if I could), Ricotta Tortellini, Seafood Fra Diavolo and the Cavatelli special. Service was excellent as well. Unfortunately the weather was not nice enough to open the doors or eat outside but inside is equally enjoyable with lots of space between tables and a gorgeous decor. Looking forward to trying LaScala Beach this summer, too! read more

I had a good meal at Lascala Fire last night! We started with the three cheese piatta bread which was almost like a mini white pizza, and really tasty. I got the salmon which was delicious. My mom got the angel hair with crab which was good but there wasn't much crab. They definitely could have given a little more crab with that dish. My sister got a chicken dish which she liked. The portion sizes were pretty good and the service was great as well! Everything came out pretty quickly. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu items. read more

The drinks and apps were very good, so good that we weren't even that disappointed when the entrees came out and were underwhelming. The chicken was rubbery and overcooked, not just my meal but two other different meals had the same complaint. The sauce lacked flavor. The chicken Marsala was tasteless and the penne vodka was salty. Not my dishes, other peoples opinions. I got the signature spicy chicken pasta and it was bland and the chicken was like leather. I decided to try the tiramisu for dessert because, how can you mess that up? It was awful, no flavor, I've had better ones from the bakery section of the grocery store. No espresso flavor, no lady fingers. The food doesn't taste like authentic Italian cooking, but I'd come back for drinks and apps for sure. Maybe even pizza. Had dinner there last night with friends. The waiter explained that they are a big restaurant so they don't have one big kitchen (weird- we have eaten at other big places and they have one kitchen). Anyway, he explained they have cooking stations and so our food may not come out at the same time. We had the ricotta appetizer which was good/ except there was honey all over the board. I had chicken piccata which was ok. Others in our party had, the Sunday dinner, chicken Milanese and the spicy tuna. The food was just ok. The service was ok. They added the tip in with the bill and the waiter did point that out to us, which we thought was nice of him. The atmosphere was loud. All in all, just a mediocre experience. read more

Went there on a Monday night. Place nearly empty. Service attentive. Food not very good. Maybe a 4" x 4" square slice of lasagna. My son ordered a four cheese pizza. For some reason his pizza never made it to the table with the other orders. When the waiter realized, he got it ordered and took it off or check. OK, so that's helpful. However... when the pizza did come out, it was a gooey greasy cheesy mess. Dollops of ricotta cheese (?) that were put on top were still cold. Must've been put on after it came out of the oven. A sad excuse for a pizza. Two guys sitting at the bar. So clearly not busy up there either. When I re-ordered a beer, the waiter had to go pour himself, as there was no bartender insight. Honestly, if it had been a rocking Friday or Saturday night, might be a little bit more inclined to just chalk it up to them being busy and slightly disorganized. However, as I mentioned at the beginning of this, it was a Monday night. Absolutely inexcusable. Might explain why they were not busy on a Monday night with all the apartments around them... If management is reading this. You need to tighten up. A lot. Absolutely no reason why, and I realize I'm using the word absolutely more than once in review... that all of this should be happening. The food is good enough, drinks ok. We had the bolognese and lasagna and they were good. Not outstanding, but decent. The lavender martini was fine; the whisky sour was only ok-very tart and not well balanced. It's more of a quasi-upscale pizza place vs an Italian restaurant. A big disappointment is that this restaurant charges 3.5% to use a credit card. I see that with mom and pop stores in the city who are mostly a cash business, but never a multi location full service restaurant. In my experience It usually signals financial issues when owners are asking customers to pay their operating costs beyond meal and drink patronage. Excellent place to grab a ton of food for reasonable prices! They also have a great happy hour starting at 3pm with lots of drink and app options. The best was truffle mushroom pizza and the whipped ricotta dish. Also the limcoello cake was amazing! We were so full after this great meal! Also excellent margaritas! Wanted to love this place as i have been to the ones in center xity Philly many times. This was my third visit and the all habe been terrible but this last visit made me angry. The restuarant was very hot and apparently the AC was broken, everyone fanning themselves. The service is atrocious at the bar, having to flag down a bartender for a drink, for napkin, silverware anything. People came in and left on either side of us as they waited 10 mins and could not get a drink or even the attention of the bartenders. Even worse so many other non bartenders standing around. The food was ok, some decent pasta dishes but many apps are over priced, $15 fries, terrible flatbreads, and wings/tenders mediocre at best. I have given up and will never be back! read more

It was plain chicken breast with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and an overwhelming amount of undercooked garlic served over plain pasta. I tried to eat it but couldn't. Beautiful inside with a gigantic spacious bar area. When I walked in on a weekday night the host didn't greet me at all. Strike one for etiquette. I met my dad and my sister for dinner. Our waiter, he never told me his name, but it was his first day and he was incredible. However, when I received my arugula salad it was supposed to come with sun-dried tomatoes, roasted eggplant, roasted red onions, gorgonzola cheese, pine nuts and white balsamic dressing. The salad arrived in a nice large white bowl. No lie, there must have only been less than a handful of teeny tiny toppings. You couldnt even taste them. The only thing that you could taste was the arugula, cheese and pine nuts. The menu description should reflect what I received.
