First time here although recommended when it first opened. Yeah, the noise level is high, but if you want quiet just stay home. The bar area is beautiful, comfortable and service was excellent. The martini was on the large size, which doesn't offend me LMAO. And the beer selection also did not offend me. ;) The tuna tartare was soooo good, I could have eaten a couple of them. Taste was exceptional and really really fresh with no sinew. The fried chicken sandwich was crispy and full of flavor. I like this place after one visit and will return. Great Bar in the Ft. Washington. They made an amazing Old Fashion. And if you wanted to, you could even order a shot of Louis XIII for only $125. Cheap ish when coming to Louis. I ordered the happy hour wings and were great. The Philly Cheesesteak was good, cheese was a little rich for me. Chose a side salad to be somewhat healthy as my side. But the fries looked great. This was a nice surprise for what once was the Friendly's restaurant of many years. There was a lot of time , expense, and energy into remodeling this place and adding a nice outdoor space. Or server Sam was delightful and very attentive without being overbearing. The drinks were great and we all enjoyed our meals. The blackened salmon was the star of the show and the eggplant ravioli from pasta sorrentino was amazing in a cream sauce. I love that this local collaboration was called out. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night with some friends. It was packed so we sat and ate at the bar. Highly recommend reservation if you want a table. They have happy everyday from 4-6 which is cool. I got the bbq wings which were fantastic. My friend got the chicken dish which was a good portion size and tasty and not dry! Service is always great here. Bartender Ashley was very attentive and kind. I didn't have food this time but everyone else liked the Mac n Cheese and Smashburgers. Again, my only knock on this place is the noise. There were hardly that many people here but a party of 10 was here and I could hardly hold a conversation with the person next me. Went with table for 6. Seated promptly and service was at our table several times initially. Food was very slow coming out and was brought out sporadically. Menu was a bit overpriced IMO. The food was excellent. We were basically ignored after receiving our first drinks. A manager came and asked how everything was very early on, so we hadn't received any food or had any real experience yet. Overall, a nice decor and restaurant, good food, but miss the mark on service and value IMO. Gratuity was included in the bill. That's another thing that I find frustrating. Stopped by The Fort for happy hour. What a fun place. The decor is sleek and inviting. There were a few seats open at the bar so we sat down and were quickly greeted by the bartender. Originally we were just going to grab a drink but decided to grab an order of happy hour wings. We opted for ours with sauce on the side. They were great. We were eyeing all of the other customers dishes as they were coming out- everything looked good. I'm rating 4 stars because I plan to return and I have a feeling that I won't be disappointed by the rest of the menu. When we left- the whole place was packed. Which is a good sign. read more

The restaurant looked nice out and inside from what I saw. I got the $9 BYO burger to go. The lettuce and onions looked and tasted fresh. I am reviewing The Fort after just one visit because its new and needs the attention. Otherwise I like to get a few visits in before dialing in my thoughts. I sat at the bar to watch an Eagles game, so this review will focus on the bar service rather than the dining rooms. Despite the upscale appearance, The Fort still captures the neighborhood bar charm. The bartenders were very pleasant and attentive. I didn't know any of the customers, but everyone was friendly and talkative. You'd expect high prices in place with this decor, but they were quite reasonable. Unlike most bars, they offer happy hour specials on the weekend and I grabbed three beers and a plate of wings for only $22. The dining rooms seemed nice with decent space and low noise levels and were kid friendly. The bar was packed for the Eagles game but this didn't slow down service. I was happy with my wings, and overheard nearby patrons complimenting their menu choices as well. The only improvement I'd like to see is more craft beer choices. But they are new and I am sure that's something they will work out down the road. read more

I usually don't review a restaurant after one visit but since it opened a week ago, I figured I'll review this place. We made a reservation for dinner and we arrived right at our reservation time and got sat right away. We got greeted by our server right away and she took her order. We got our appetizer really fast. The wings were good and so was the French onion soup. I wish it was little hotter but it was still good. When it got to the entree, it took longer than expected. But it was okay since we were watching the Black Friday game on the tv and was enjoying our time. The reason our entree took longer than usual was the cooks were waiting for our fries to cook so our server just brought out food first, which was really nice of her. When looking around the restaurant, you can feel the nervousness and confusion with the workers but completely understandable since they only have been opened for a week. I think this location has a really big potential once they get the hang of things and little bit more training. They have a huge bar with lots of tv so it would be a great place for happy hour. The outdoor area was super cute too but shame it was freezing outside. read more

The Fort sits on the corner of Pennsylvania Ave / Summit Ave just up from the Fort Washington exit of the PA Turnpike. Anyone local to the area knows this building as the former Friendly's restaurant that was a long time fixture in Fort Washington. The old ice cream / diner décor has been transformed into an up scale bar & restaurant. They did a phenomenal job as the interior is unrecognizable. The interior has a dining area opposite the bar which is separated by a glass wall and there are several high top tables in the bar area. White marble counter tops line the central bar which has amble space to enjoy a few libations. I had a chance to grab lunch on their opening day which was 11/22/24. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately. After ordering our drinks we had a chance to peruse the menu. We both ordered smash burgers (1 single, 1 double) and one French Onion soup. As the soup came out our bartender said they made a 2nd by accident so I had a chance to try it. It was one of the better French Onion Soups I've had and I would recommend it. After we finished our soup we waited a few minutes and our burgers arrived. Shoe string French fires accompanied our burgers and mine were just warm and my friends were cold. The burgers themselves were decent and I give them a B-. The edges of my patty's were burnt which I'm not a fan of. Overall we both enjoyed our meals and thought they did a really nice job with the renovation. I want to come back in a few weeks for dinner to give my final review but my first experience was positive. read more

Solid choice. We sat out on the covered patio on an unseasonably warm September day and it was lovely. A few bees but generally very nice. My son had some great chicken fingers, my husband got a solid cheesesteak and I got a brunch scramble. All were very good. Found this place on Yelp since we were in the area. We were sat quickly. The ambiance is very cool with 60s - 70s music playing and vibrant posters of books and records decorating the walls. Finally a place with comfy lighting, chairs, and tables. The food was excellent. I got the warm grain bowl with chicken, and my friend got the roasted pork sandwich. He was a bit sad that it didn't have broccoli rabe but it did have broccolini and spinach. I also ordered a delicious cocktail of gin, grapefruit juice, orange simple syrup, and club soda. Prices were very reasonable for the vibe of the place. Our server was very friendly. I would absolutely come back here. read more

Pretty inside. The food was average. The tempura cauliflower appetizer was flavorful, although the chicken sandwich entree was very dry and didn't have much sauce on it to make it better. Our order got put in wrong and only 3 entrees came out, leaving the 4th person just sitting there while others ate. The food runner did, however, correct the order quickly, although it should have been our server who did that. No manager ever came to apologize, nor did the server. This is a follow up to my review from 25 days ago. I received a call from Tim Foley and he apologized for his delay in contact me regarding my order. Mr. Foley stated that he would send me a check on what I spent $48.00 and a gift card for future visit. I never received a darn thing. I contacted him again via email and he has never responded. I am very disappointed that Mr. Foley did not keep his word on my refund. I will never go there again and I would never recommend The Fort to anyone. We arrived a little early for our 8pm reservation on Friday night so we got a drink at the bar. It was pretty full and the staff were friendly. The Pear Martini was absolutely delicious! We were seated and our server, Joanne gave us a quick rundown on the menu. She was very attentive and personable. Our party of four ordered the pork sandwich, the shrimp BLT, deviled eggs, the pepperoni flat bread, the meatball skillet, shrimp cocktail and French onion soup. The sandwiches were excellent and were served with perfectly cooked shoestring fries. The soup was great - plenty of cheese & bread topping delicious broth & caramelized onions. Joanne was correct when she told us the shrimp cocktail was "elevated". The grilled shrimp were marinated and perfectly seasoned. The flatbread was good, topped with a drizzle of hot honey. The deviled eggs were yummy but I would rather the bacon on top didn't have a maple flavor to it. The meatball skillet was served with toasted bread slices, hearty marinara and dollops of ricotta. The meatballs were a little dry but we enjoyed it anyway. We will definitely plan on coming back to The Fort to try new items and for another pork sandwich. Great spot! read more

We came for an after-work birthday happy hour. The staff was not accommodating at all. When we asked for one extra chair, we were told no and had to add another table instead. As soon as we sat down around 4:00 pm, we were told our table was needed for a 6:15 reservation--even though the restaurant was basically empty. Service was poor: our waitress barely checked on us while the busser kept clearing plates. When two more people briefly stopped by to say happy birthday, the manager hovered over our table and the check was dropped without asking if we wanted anything else. This was at 5:15 pm, still an hour before the reservation. We felt rushed and unwelcome. Won't be back. read more

Overall not a bad experience. Went for brunch at 10am opening today. Mixed feelings depending on the aspect of the experience. Food was decent but not quite worth the price. They mixed up ingredients in 2 omelette orders but were polite and helpful in rectifying. The drinks were quite good. The service itself was great - quick, professional, welcoming, and simple. Surprising there was not a kids menu specifically for brunch. Also surprising the brunch menu itself was not more extensive. They offer an alcoholic coffee drink using cold brew concentrate but said they could not make a regular non-alcoholic cold brew nor regular iced coffee - surprising, confusing, and disappointing. We did reserve on Open Table and indicated a birthday. They gave us a birthday card that was signed by several staff - a nice personal touch, and a $25 gift card! Definitely a good way to encourage people to come back. Would try for dinner - friends have done dinner there and enjoyed it overall but said it's much noisier than you'd expect when it's crowded. read more

Drove by The Fort 2 weeks ago and this was the first time we noticed it, so we decided to try it on Saturday. Did not know reservations are preferred and wouldn't be able to be seated until about 8:00. We decided to see if we could get a seat at the bar and after a short wait we did. The drinks were great and we ordered food. I ordered the Byo Burger which was very good. My husband had the rigatoni Bolognese which he very much enjoyed. The other patrons at the bar were very friendly and we met another couple from the neighborhood. We'll definitely come back, especially during the summer since they have outdoor seating, but probably will make a reservation. read more

We had a pleasant late lunch at The Fort and enjoyed the ambiance with an interesting mix of modern and traditional design elements. Our server was nice and attentive - she recommended the honey BBQ wings which were tasty, came with a perfectly complimentary sauce and quality ingredients. The fried chicken sandwich was well-seasoned and crispy. Double Fort Smashburger was slightly disappointing in that the meat was unseasoned and bland and the relish and cheese didn't add enough flavor. Also our canned N/A beer was not cold and we asked if there were any chilled glasses that we could get to help. The server did bring some new chilled glasses but unfortunately it didn't make the beer much cooler. Overall would go again and continue to explore the menu! read more
