We decided to see a movie in Ambler and looked for a good restaurant to eat at before the show. We selected From the Boot, as my partner had eaten there before and she said it was good. We started with bread and garlic knots. The bread was okay, but the garlic knots were great! I hadn't had them in quite awhile, and was very pleased with the taste and texture. Next up, the meatballs! I'm a meatball guy, and was quickly disappointed with the texture and flavor of the meatballs. They were small and not that tender. I tried a different meatball to see if it was similar, the texture was different and very grainy, to the point I couldn't eat it! I hadn't no idea why the texture was so 'grainy'. I would like to point out the marinara was delicious. We left the remaining meatballs, and mentioned it to our server - the Manager came over and was very understanding. We weren't charged for the meatballs. The next appetizer we ordered was the Eggplant Rollatini. It's is a simplistic creamy classic Italian-American dish. Thinly sliced eggplant rolled around ricotta cheese, then baked in a rich tomato sauce with mozzarella cheese. It was a good appetizer as I mentioned before, in a great marinara. We shared the Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti for our entree. It turned out to be the star of the meal! It was a perfectly crispy golden brown chicken cutlet, with marinara and bubbly mozzarella cheese. The cutlet was tender and juicy, covered with the same wonderful marinara. While we were a little apprehensive after the meatballs, the rest of meal was very good and From the Boot will be worth a revisit. read more

Extremely disappointing and concerning experience We had an 8:00 p.m. reservation on August 7 for a child's birthday celebration for a party of four. We were seated at 8:02 p.m. and then completely ignored. For the next 20 minutes, no one came to our table--not even to offer water or acknowledge us. We eventually had to stop another server, who told us someone would be right with us. We waited another 10 minutes, and the server assigned to our table never came to our table during the entire 30 minutes we were there. What was particularly troubling was watching that same server immediately attend to the guests seated behind us, who had been seated approximately 15 minutes after we arrived. This was not a situation where the staff was overwhelmed or the restaurant was unusually busy. Our table was simply overlooked while guests who arrived later received attention. There was no apology, no explanation, and no attempt to acknowledge the fact that we had been sitting there unattended. Given the stark difference in how our table was treated compared with guests who arrived after us, I left feeling that racial discrimination may have played a role in how we were treated. I cannot know the server's intentions, but the circumstances and disparity in treatment were extremely concerning. This was supposed to be a special birthday celebration for a child. Instead, we left after 30 minutes without receiving basic service. That is unacceptable. I am sharing this review so other customers can make an informed decision, particularly those planning a special occasion. I also hope management takes this seriously and looks into what happened that evening. Customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, regardless of who they are. read more

After not coming here for 7 years, I forgot how bad this place is. It is our 24th anniversary, since it is not a big one, and it's a Monday night, he suggested From the Boot. There are only a few occupied tables. The hostess said she is new, so she asks someone else to help her. Then she brings us pass all these empty booths to a table right next to another occupied table and next to the bathroom. I ask if we can sit in a booth instead, since there are about 5 empty ones available. She shrugs her shoulders and says okay. After sitting there without anyone coming by, I pull out my Yelp app and re-read my previous review. This is like a repeat of our nightmare. Throughout the night, all these wait staff walks by, looking like deer caught in a headlight. Many of them seems to be in training, and the trainers look like they just finished their own training themselves. We get some stale bread, then finally someone takes our order. My linguine is mushy and mostly chopped up. The sauce is decent, thankfully. My daughter's shrimp Scampi is tasteless. The pasta is also overcooked, but not as bad as mine. The food tastes like from a bad pizza parlor but expensive restaurant pricing. Why is this place still open is beyond me. I really have to remember to never come here again. read more

From the Boot was just okay overall . Not bad, but not somewhere I'd be rushing back to. We started with the meat and cheese board, which honestly was not worth it. It came with two kinds of meats, two cheeses, olives, and roasted red peppers, which felt pretty underwhelming but u suppose reasonable for the price. The stuffed mushrooms were actually very good flavor wise, but unfortunately they arrived lukewarm. The garlic knots, however, were heavenly! easily one of the best parts of the meal . The meatballs were average but good. nothing memorable, and the calamari was nothing special either as the fish to batter ratio was off and left it a bit disappointing. For entrées, my mom's Shrimp Scampi & Linguini was overcooked and slimy, which was a letdown. My dad did enjoy his Rigatoni Pesto & Steak, so that was a highlight. The house salad was again nothing special, and my grilled chicken was burnt and unpleasantly sour. The fries were good (as fries usually are), but it was strange that the only condiment offered at first was ketchup. After asking again, we eventually found out they did have mayo. Service was mixed. Our server switched halfway through the meal, and drinks took a while to come out. Both servers were sweet and attentive, but they weren't very proactive about dealing with or asking the kitchen about simple modifications. That said, it was late and close to the end of the night, and as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I understand how that can be tricky. Given the circumstances, they did a decent job, and we made sure to tip well because we appreciated their effort. Dessert was definitely the strongest part of the meal. Everything we tried was delicious from the chocolate cake which was rich, fudgy, and mouthwatering, and the cheesecake and cannoli were just as good. Was also nicely busy for the later time we were there so i recommend making a reservation. Overall, From the Boot was fine, with a few highs and misses. I have several go-to Italian restaurants so I have not tried from the boot sooner. It is a nice place inside and the staff was helpful and friendly. I had to wait a bit for the rest of our party but was offered water, a drink, and both bread and garlic knots which were quite delicious. I had a nice glass of wine and chose to have the lasagna which is served with vodka sauce. It was a really nice touch. The rest of the table enjoyed ravioli in vodka sauce, a chicken and vodka sauce pizza, and clams over pasta. We like our vodka sauce! A good measure is if your lasagna is heated all the way through. It's rare to have it hot in the middle. This one was and the meat and sauce was plentiful. It was very good. It was a nice experience and the food was definitely well prepared. The price point is definitely on the higher side but I did enjoy the marinara sauce on the meatballs too. It's worth a try and you can decide if it meets your expectations. read more

I can eat Italian food all day everyday, so I'm always looking for new places to try. My friends took me to From the Boot and it is such cute little Italian restaurant with tons of amazing pasta options!! I highly recommend getting any of their breads as a starter, the garlic bread was fantastic. And I was actually OBSESSED with their vodka gnocchi. Good gnocchi is a tell tale sign of a good Italian place since it's hard to make, so that says it all!! I will definitely be back! read more

Went on a Saturday night around 7pm. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. The place was only half full which was unusual. We started with a caprese salad and the tomatoes were over ripe. I ordered the salmon which was overcooked and the broccoli was undercooked. Husband had the veal parm which he said just okay. We were only there under 2 hours but waitress changed 3 times. We heard there was a change of ownership but not sure if this is true but the whole experience was not good including the food and we will not be returning anytime soon! read more

I so enjoyed my meal here tonight! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and am glad I did. I had the amalfi spritz to drink and it was perfect! It had a great lemon flavor and it was the perfect summer cocktail. To start, we split the crab stuffed mushrooms and the gnocchi in vodka sauce, which is normally an entree but it worked great to share. The mushrooms were good, but the gnocchi was SPECTACULAR! I would get this again and again. They were pillowy and so light. I loved every bite! For my entree, I had the chicken margherita. This was just ok. The flavor was good but the texture of the chicken was off for me. I liked that it was a lighter version of chicken parm though, and thought it was a creative interpretation. The service was a little slow in the beginning, but we were one of the last seatings so it got better as the meal went on. Placed a take-out order today. Disappointed. I ordered 2 separate orders of 6 Lemon Garlic Wings and a side of Fries. I asked for one of the orders of wings to be well done. When I called I spoke to two people, a female who was very friendly and was transfered to a male. I asked if the wings were fried or baked. I was told, "yes." Then I had to ask a second time, if they were either fried or baked. Apparently both? When I went to pick up, the hostess and gentleman at the bar were friendly when I picked up the order. I was also greeted by another gentleman asking if I needed any help. The 2 orders of wings were in the same container and both well done when I specifically asked for only 1 to be well done. The wings tasted like they were fried in old oil - FISHY taste. Chicken wings should never taste fishy, especially for the price of $12. First time at from the boot and walked into a pack restaurant no empty seats in site on a very cold windy Saturday night, even the bar was full. Downside it was very loud and hard to hear yourself think let alone be able to hear your server telling you what the specials were. Table shared the meat and cheese antipasto which was very good overly all except the prosciutto was on the thick side making it a little tougher then it needed to be. I ordered the veal saltimbocca which would have been better with more of the very good flavored sauce. One price is veal was very thin and tender the other was a little thicker and not quite as tender. The veal parmigiana had a good tasty red sauce. The shrimp scampi over linguine was the best item on the table. Large perfectly cooked shrimp over buttery goodness pasta. The cheesecake was very good, rich, smooth with a crunchy graham cracker crust. I didn't try the cannoli but I can tell You nothing was left on the plate. read more

Went out for a casual dinner on a Friday night at From the Boot in ambler. Aesthetic inside was very cute, beautiful bar, with an assortment of tables, booths, and high tops. Our waitress greeted us promptly with warm bread. For dinner, I got the Chicken Nicola and subbed the Gorgonzola cream sauce for the vodka which was SO good. My sister got the carbonara, also delicious. The noodles tasted homemade and the sauces had a lot of flavor. Only downfall of the experience was not being able to find our waitress when we were finished with our meals to get boxes and the check. it's an ambler staple at this point! i've been coming her for years and year and never had a bad experience, with with the food and the service. the meal opens with complimentary bread (slices of a table loaf and some garlic bread, as well. my family fight over that garlic bread, lol) since becoming a vegetarian, my go-to is the heavenly pillowy soft gnocchi in the blush sauce. absolutely fantastic, maybe my favorite gnocchi i've ever had. a great portion size, too. we also got the bruschetta this time around, which they make absolutely killer. the house pinot grigio was great for the price, too! the tiramisu is light on the coffee flavor and very cream-heavy; not my fave ever but can there ever be a 'bad' tiramisu?? i always love coming here and always rec it to people coming to ambler. great to stop here and then go next door and see a movie :-) read more

Alright So I have been here many many times and have enjoyed my meals previously. Each and every time I ordered the lobster ravioli and a wedge salad. The ravioli was amazing. The wedge salad was pretty good too. The calamari I had many times before was pretty decent I suppose. Starting here is a 5/5 100% restaurant. Today, I ate a dinner at this exact restaurant, having only been 6 months since I last had the splendid lobster ravioli. I sat down. Took a long look at the menu and noticed there was no lobster ravioli. Dammit. Well, okay, I'll have penne bolognese. Had the garlic bread and calamari at the start. Pretty good. Had the bolognese: Not as good. The sauce was not creamy enough and was a bit watery. The penne was alright, but how do you screw up pasta? I have not gotten the chance to look at the dessert menu, since the waitress did not notice I was done eating until 15 minutes later. I ordered dessert and am waiting to get the dessert at the time of this writing. After this meal, the restaurant falls from its prior status. 2/5 because no lobster ravioli. read more

Asked for gluten free, dish came with breaded chicken. They made a new dish with grilled chicken and a long nasty hair too. Bus people tried to take our dishes away while we were still eating and had food on our plates. I guess they try to rush you out. We had to stop going. They just don't value local loyal customers. Great restaurant to visit, especially if you're seeing a movie at the adjacent Ambler Theater. The only disappointing part of the meal was the garlic rolls and crusty pieces of Italian bread that we dipped in olive oil. Both of the rolls and the bread were quite dry and almost stale-tasting. For an appetizer, we ordered the mussels in garlic white wine sauce. I encountered a couple of gritty ones, but the mussels were plump and the sauce was delicious. My husband ordered bucatini carbonara without asparagus and said it was the best restaurant version of carbonara that he has ever had. I ordered penne bolognese at the recommendation of the server and it was excellent. The well-seasoned, creamy tomato meat sauce perfectly clung to the penne. We both ate the entire bowls! (Don't let the photos deceive you - those bowls are pretty deep.) We will definitely return to this restaurant the next time we are in Ambler. read more
