My prior provider was transparent with my prescription and I could have a copy, if desired. Frame options were limited to the more stylish and costly version. Had work from 4am-1:30pm so had to deal with it until I got off. I made an appointment with another office Friday morning for 2:00pm. That office only had an optometrist available (not on ophthalmologist) and despite telling me they would be able to remove it, they determined they could not due to it being under the tissue and said I would need to wait till the next day to see the ophthalmologist. As soon as I left that place, I started calling around. Mind you it was 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon by now. After several other calls to offices with no dr's available, I reached Evergreen. Dr Sien was still in the office, and though not technically taking new appointments, offered to stay late to assist me. The Dr and her staff were friendly and were able to quickly, but thoroughly assess both my eyes (just to be sure I didn't have any hidden gems in the other eye). Dr Sien then removed the metal shaving from my eye. I didn't feel a thing. Metal removed. No effect to my vision. Dr. Sein appeared incapable of focusing, and I don't know if she thought I was hard of hearing or what, but she was shouting the entire time. Not angry, worse - like she was constantly trying to be heard over a loud sound system. She rushed in like she had somewhere else to be, and remained in that state for the entire appointment. She never introduced herself or even once called me by my name; instead, she addressed me as "hon" the entire time. In fact, she called me "hon" every other sentence and it was clear she hadn't even bothered to skim my file to learn my name. She came off as distracted and unfocused, even hyperactive, and that alone felt incredibly stressful and unprofessional, but the mistakes she made right at the onset made the frustration of the experience worse. She got the wrong eye at first, then insisted several times that the floater I'd come in for was in my right eye before finally actually slowing down just enough to check my information and saying, "Oh, you may be right." "May"...? Like, I think I know which eye the problem is in? She would rapid-fire questions at me only to interrupt my answers with more rapid-fire questions, always with "Hon." I'm not old, I'm not hard of hearing, and I don't normally speak slowly, but I had to keep pausing and then repeating my responses slower and more quietly each time because she wasn't even listening to them, she was just talking over me. I couldn't even get her to be present enough to ask her the questions I had come in with and she never asked if I had any, anyway. At one point during this ordeal, she offhandedly mentioned that oh, by the way, there's a cataract beginning to form in one of my eyes but not to worry about it and then rushed on to the next topic, which is, to put it lightly, a shockingly awful way to break that news. There is no way I feel safe trusting my eyesight to this person or feel safe in her operating room. Because of this experience, I can't even trust her judgement on her referral to a second specialist and I left a message with my primary eye doctor to ask for a second opinion on the other doctor and perhaps get a different referral. Speaking of: The "referral" to the next eye surgeon I was given was a quickly printed half page of a Google review of him. That was it. The whole thing was slapdash, sloppy. No receptionist met with me at the desk to go over anything like professional staff do, they just thrust the printout of the Google review into my hands and told me to call the guy. Look, I get it - it's a Friday afternoon, people are already mentally checked out, they want to go start their weekend or whatever but speaking as a patient, the last place you want that happening at is an eye doctor's office. I let my primary eye doctor know there's no way I'm going back to this place, ever. And that's not even getting to the fact that I was in the waiting room for an hour and a half before I even saw her. There weren't many patients there, the place was simply disorganized. Staff: Pre-dilation, an assistant took me to check my vision with the eye chart. When I said I still had my contacts in, they just shrugged at me and insisted I read the chart with them still in, which isn't how vision is supposed to be checked. The flimsy plastic handheld tool that covers each eye to read the eye chart was cheap and falling apart - a piece slipped out of its position a few times - and they had me use it instead of them using quality tools in a professional manner. Even if the eye check had been done by competent professionals, I had sweat from the heat stinging and clouding my eyes under my contacts. When I asked for eye drops to at least maybe clear up some of the clouding so I could see the chart a bit better, the assistant said they didn't have any (in an eye doctor's office?) then went in search of some saline solution. Post-dilation, an assistant took me back to get images of my eyes on an unfamiliar machine. While I was trying to get the right alignment for my nose, she got impatient and physically pushed the back of my head to force my face against the machine, then kept pushing my head around until she got my face into the position she wanted. Really didn't like the personal boundary violating nor the discomfort. Judging by the chatbot-sounding responses to its other one-star Yelp reviews, I expect that any response from the team to this is also going to be written by AI but I hope that somewhere along the line an actual human reads it. All of this communicates to me that this office just does not care and I emphatically advise avoiding this place. As patients, placing our trust in a doctor and their team is a serious thing. My father's doctor was Dr. Conger. He was friendly, informative, efficient but he didn't feel like he was being rushed. Though my dad was capable of walking out, they offered wheelchair assistance. They gave us a number for 24 hour assistance with an on-call doctor in case we needed help. Overall, it was a great experience and my father felt like he was cared for well.

Although, I know the risks of Lasik procedure, I still need to know what kind of machine they use, their surgery procedure, cleanliness, clinic's mitigation and/ action in case of power failure or worse case machine failure. I know, I sound like an extremist, but I should be! After all, my eyes are important part of my body. I can't replace my eyes that easy, even if it's replaceable, it will be very costly. Remember, prevention is cheaper than treatment! It took me about a year and 7 doctor interviews before finding Dr. Rabinowitz. Trust me, I've done my research and not just yelp research, I personally go to the doctor's clinic and interview the doctors and its staffs as well. I have to make sure, doctors are specialized in Lasik Eye Surgery and aren't just doing the procedure for the money. If you're looking for a great Lasik doctor, don't just look at yelp or the clinic's website, you got to check out the place and interview the doctor. In one instance, I found this other lasik clinic in downtown LA, who claims to have the latest technology, most affordable and has the most rated reviews in yelp. Yet, going to the facility was a huge disappointment. They might have the best reviews but how many of them were actually true. I went to that clinic, it took 2 hours of my precious time (with 5 minutes of eye examination, 15 minutes of chit chat with the doctor not even related to lasik and the rest was waiting). By the end of that interview I found out that the facility was not even using a bladeless technology because the doctor does not trust computers (yet uses a laser machine). There was another instance where I found another doctor who would jump right in to schedule me for lasik after his assistant examined my eyes. But then his assistant doesn't even know the surgery procedure. His assistant is probably new, but it was a big no no for me. Then I found Cornea Eye Institute and met Dr. Rabinowitz. At first, I thought he's one of those doctors who would do surgery for the money without considering the risks on the patient. But I was wrong. I guess I interviewed too many money sucking doctors and I judged Dr. Rabinowitz so quickly. After my eye examination, Dr. Rabinowitz laid out all the risks of lasik procedure. Not only that, we gave me a brief lecture on the anatomy of the eyes and how the lasik works. Its like taking Lasik 101. It was a scary discussion, but this is something that I NEED to know (and everybody whose considering lasik needs to know). Aside from that, Dr. Rabinowitz was extra cautious. It was around end of October when I had my first appointment with him and wished to have lasik done before Thanksgiving. Although, my eyes are in-range of not having dry eyes (but in the lower level of wetness), Dr. Rabinowitz delayed my lasik surgery schedule to ensure that my eyes are in best condition as possible. This is to avoid complications. He gave me instructions on how to take care of my eyes prior the procedure. I had my surgery performed on Dec 10, 2015. Surgery was really fast. Dr. Rabinowitz, ensured me that I was comfortable as possible. He gave some relaxation medicine, so that I am calmed during the procedure. Being the "best" doctor would be an understatement; he surpassed that description and my expectation. With high quality of customer service, observing patient safety together with knowledge on this area, what else I can ask for. I was beyond blessed to have my lasik done under his care. Now I have 20/15 vision on both eyes, no halos, no dry eyes and no more four-eyes.
