Today I when in for my free consultation at Laser Eye Center in Santa Clarita. They have enough parking space, which is always a plus. Even though it's a suite, I have no trouble finding it. I had a free consultation with Esther Park and she was one of the most thorough optometrist I've seen with clear explanations on everything. She was very personable and caring. If they practiced regular optometry in this office (glasses and contacts for my kids), I would bring my family to her regularly. Came in for consultation and booked a surgery date. The staff at Santa Clarita office is polite and respectful. Billing was fine and pricing was fair. The Sugery was done at the Encino office. The staff there was great. They try hard to make you comfortable during the whole process. I hard PRK done. It was very quick. The recovery process isn't easy. But after about 3days you can finally open your eyes and see. Vision is not 20/20 afterwards. I guess it will be a few month. I just hope it comes soon. read more

Everything was great with the doctor and his assistant that checked me in and did some pre-check exam. When the doctor was done he said I could do the surgery but that I would be back probably in a couple of years for a touch up or 3 years for another touch up or something like that . Where I had the bad experiences when I got to the person who was in charge of financing . She was trying to tell me that I couldn't do the surgery that nobody would do the surgery unless I did the cataracts surgery. What she didn't know was the doctor said I could have gotten the Lasik instead of the cataracts . Her name was Maria and she was really trying to push that cataracts which of course is $10,000 more or less. Let's just say I'm not spending $10,000 and I'm not going to be pressured into doing it by anybody . That is the reason for the three stars. They did me a favor because now I am going to Las Vegas and getting it done for about $1,000 for both eyes. They could have had $2,375 an eye, but they got greedy. Thank you Laser Eye Center. I do not recommend having your LASIK procedure here. This review is only for the surgeon, Dr. Shammas. I had my LASIK done in September of 2024. It seemed to go well and my vision did improve. However, I started seeing a rainbow glare out of my left eye after the procedure. It's like a starry rainbow glare at night when I see headlights or street lights. It only happens in my left eye. I brought up my concerns at the follow ups, and at first they said it was probably due to dryness. I continued putting lubricating drops in hopes it would go away. It did not. At the follow ups, no one knew what I was talking about when I would describe what I was seeing. I did my own research and found I have something called Rainbow Glare. At the last follow up, I brought this up to Dr. Shammas and he told me it was impossible. That the laser they use is so precise, I could not be seeing this. He told me that I wasn't seeing what I clearly see. After a heated back and forth, he said my brain would get used to seeing the glare and adjust. This surgeon needs to learn to listen to his patients and not try to gaslight them. I know there are possible side effects with LASIK, but I would expect surgeons to listen and talk through concerns with patients. I do not recommend getting your LASIK done here. read more

Went in to do a free consultation because I had LASIK done awhile back and I think I needed a enhancement surgery on my left eye. The optometrist told me that it was fine and that I was better off the way it was until the right eye starts going bad. I was surprised and relived at the same time. I saved money on not having to do the surgery and felt comfortable knowing that the little loss of vision is normal and okay. There honesty is refreshing. Absolutely unprofessional. The staff talked to me like I was stupid and did not take any of my questions or concerns seriously. When I asked about the negative affects of the surgery, both the doctor and Medical Assistant told me that there were no negative affects and that they never make mistakes. At my consultation, the doctor did not properly dilate my eyes, and one eye was dilated for more than 24 hours after the dilation drops were put into my eye. Then the lady who is in charge of billing gave me a folder with all my pricing options and asked me if I could come in the following Monday for surgery. I told her that I could not get surgery until January and she gave me three separate dates in December after I had just told her I couldn't until November. She kept rushing me and pressuring me to get an earlier surgery date when I simply could not do it. Also one of the doctors guaranteed that I would not have any issues with night vision, then had me sign a list of disclaimers that said I may have issues with night vision. Also at my consultation, I asked the lady in charge of billing THREE separate times if I needed a down payment before surgery. She kept saying NO DOWN PAYMENT NEEDED and that I would be able to set up a payment plan WITHOUT a down payment on the day of surgery or I could apply to finance it through a third party, in which I declined because I didn't want to open a credit line. I informed her again that I wanted to set up a payment plan with the office and asked once more if I needed a down payment in which she said no. On the day of my surgery she refused to set up a payment plan with the office and then informs me that I would need a down payment of 60% or more. Had I known, I would have saved up and been prepared to make my payment, however I was reassured numerous times that I did not need a down payment to set up a payment plan in office. Since I did not have the money for the down payment and did not want to open a credit line with a third party, I drove 45 minutes from my house at 6 in the morning, for no reason due to incorrect information and wasted my time completely. As someone who works in the medical field myself and currently in school to become a medical assistant, this behavior is completely unprofessional and pressuring a patient into scheduling a surgery with incorrect information is disrespectful and also unprofessional! Seems like all they care about is money and scheduling as many surgeries as they can without listening to the patient or answering ALL questions including PAYMENT information. Went here a few months ago for a tune-up on my eyes. I had Lasik about 12 years earlier and was starting to get a little blurry in one eye only. So I went in for a free exam which took around 3 hours but was very through. Both the doctors I saw that day were very nice and professional. I was offered PRK which is a different surgery because you can only do Lasik once. They said my right eye was 20/20, but my left was 20/30 and I could go without doing it if I wanted. I opted for it since I don't like wearing glasses. I turned out fine, but PRK has a much longer recovery time unlike Lasik so I was not seeing well out of the eye that I got done for six weeks. So think about it if you want to do PRK, but would recommend Lasik to anyone and everyone. read more

I had my lasik surgery done at the end of December 2020. Best decision of my life. I had my second follow up today with 20/30 vision in both eyes! I had 20/400 of something close to that prior to surgery. My prescription was -9.5. Everyone who works at both Santa Clarita and Encino offices were friendly and helpful every step along the way. I had laser surgery 6 days ago. So far, I have 20/15 vision, which is great. Everyone is friendly and professional. The doctors are thorough and made me feel very comfortable. My only issue is my close up vision. They did tell me I would have to wear reading glasses. I figured, ok, no big deal. I've worn progressive lenses for years. I could always see close up good enough to read my phone or anything really, except the shampoo bottle. But now, I can't see my phone without readers. Even my plate of food is blurry so, I'm a little discouraged. They told me about needing readers, more than once, but, I didn't think my close up vision would get worse. Hopefully it will improve. But, all in all, Laser Eye Center is great. I don't regret having the surgery at all. read more

I went to get a consultation, but as soon as I walked in the receptionist was extremely rude. No friendly welcome, but instead I was greeted with a terrible attitude. Rather speaking nicely to potential new patients, she angrily demanded my relative wait outside. I understand they must limit who enters due to covid, but there was no need for the added sass. I also had some standard questions about costs and duration, to which she continued to respond with a bad attitude and gave me one worded answers. She told me the consultation would take 4 to 6 hours with no other explanation, which I think is absolutely absurd. Maybe she was having an off day, but as a new patient who knows nothing, I would've expected her to be more friendly and willing to answer my questions. 0 stars. This is a scam. I went to have my eyes evaluated for lasik. I was in the office for 3 hours. Other patients actually left during this time because the staff was taking so long and so disrespectful of patients time. I was given a few tests and told by the technician (who was meant to look like a doctor and brought in at the end of the testing) that I was not a candidate for lasik, but that I had the "beginnings of cataracts" and needed the lenses in my eyes replaced. I was then given a sales pitch on surgical lens replacement. I almost bought it. I even made a call to the Los Angeles Laser Eye Center office. The receptionist told me on the phone that if I didn't have my lenses surgically replaced I would go blind! Then, I went to see a REAL ophthalmologist. On the forms I reported that I had cataracts. At this office (Helm in Valencia) everyone was extremely professional, they really were who they presented to be and I was tested extensively. When I met with Dr. Helm and he told me that there was NO evidence of cataracts. The problem (terrible night vision) I was experiencing was related to having dry eyes, which was impairing my vision. He put me on a supplement and an eye treatment which has been working and it's only been 5 days! It is unconscionable that Laser Eye Center is selling unnecessary surgery! It is unconscionable that radio stations run their ads. Shame on the gov agencies that police everybody it seems, but let these thugs get away this. read more

I got the PRK surgery on both eyes 4 week ago and I'm glad I decided to wait this long before writing this review!! The recovery from the surgery for me was difficult, scary, frustrating, painful and uncomfortable. For four days I could not open my eyes for more than a few seconds I called and spoke to the on call doctor several times and visited the offices almost daily, they were absolutely great and comforting to me reassuring me that everything I was going through was normal as I was healing well!!!! Now a month later and getting better and clearer vision by the day I'm absolutely HAPPY I did this!!!! I recommend this place they are great mannered and professional!!!! I Wanted to buy the lasik Groupon which was $1799 for a $4200 procedure. After my free consultation the office manager Maha Tamim told me I didn't qualify for the Groupon price because I have an astigmatism and that their machine they use for the $1799 price does not correct astigmatism. which i found out was a total lie after doing some research on that machine. These scammers just advertise a great price on Groupon just to get you in there, then they tell you you don't qualify for the Groupon price and make you pay more.
