Somewhere along the way, I reached out to a Kaiser dermatologist about my sunspots and she recommended Clear & Brilliant. Since I was already going to LaserAway for my tattoo removal, I decided to add C&B as well. (TBH my gut feeling told me not to because they are a chain...I learned the hard way.) I purchased a 6-pack and started the treatments. At my second appointment, the store manager talked me into adding Rejuran, so I purchased a 3-pack. The first session went fine, sessions 2-4 were also fine, with the Rejuran. (Albeit no real improvements visible) At the 5th session (Jan 15), she mentioned increasing the intensity, which I agreed to because I trusted her. Immediately after I left, I knew this session felt different. The burning sensation and redness lasted longer than before. Throughout the week, as the sandiness washed off (as usual), I noticed an orange/brown color to my skin creating an outline under my eyes (where she did not laser). Like raccoon eyes, but white. This did not go away over a few weeks. Now my skin looks like this. Multiple people have commented on my discoloration (at a spa for a facial and a beauty counter in Japan) and I have never felt more self conscious. My skin has never looked like this ever in my life. The laser hair removal process is excellent and the nurses/ laser techs are very professional. My rating has dropped because of strange marketing tactics. They called to initiate a renewal - re- up of an 8 session package and pricing was very competitive. Apparently though , there is a difference between the initial Premium Plus LHR package and the Premium Package. I believe that my premium plus package ( full face and body ) is ending and depending on who I discuss my remaining appointments with, I have either 5 or 8 left that do not include face and neck. I have brought up the fact that I triple checked to make sure that I was purchasing the same exact package and the app is confusing to me. Apparently it is also complex to staff because I get promised an email breakdown of remaining sessions but have not gotten q breakdown or a comprehensive explanation. of remaining sessions. If you delve into Yelp reviews, Nurses are consistently receiving high praise and accolades, while reviews for sales and marketing leave a LOT of room for improvement! One nurse booked "back to back" their claim, the later in the day appointments can mean you are waiting for a significant amount of time for your appointment with little offered in terms of apology for inconvenience or time. Sunday, I was called 4 minutes after my appointment time and I explained I was parking and struggling to find a spot, having given myself plenty of time. I was thanked on the phone . When I walked in exactly 9 minutes after my apt started I was addressed by the same gentleman at the front desk. " Unfortunately our sole nurse is scheduled back to back and may not have time today to address each area" I looked at my watch- "I assume that you are implying that because I am 11 minutes late. I must expect to forgo some of my treatment areas?" The gentleman thanked me for understanding. I could have pointed out that I had waited in the past, that parking is difficult and that the nurse ( Scott, as it turns out) did not seem to be available. I wisely chose to address this if indeed, Scott was not able to completely address all areas . The stress that the nurse/ practitioners must by under at this location must be brutal and punishing, yet they all seem to be pleasantly competent, not rushed and are great despite demands of a relentless profit center based schedule. Hey Laser Away, how about scheduling 15 minutes between appointments to allow yourselves a little wiggle room and cut down on customer waiting times, while acknowledging the reality of parking- traffic congestion. As it turned out Scott was not rushed, addressed full face, full bikini, legs upper and lower underarms. After care instructions were issued and appointment ended right on time. The gentleman at the front desk asked if all areas had been addressed. " Absolutely, I am so grateful!" I responded!. I also asked if I could take care of a $50 no show fee for a previous appointment. Then I sweetly asked for an accounting of my remaining appointment counts for each service area. There was a lot if stammering and a bewildered look. as his mind was blown trying to make sense of which package addressed which areas and which package was ending and which had nit been started yet. I have some number between 1 and eight left on each area. I bought a buy 4 sessions get four free on what I thought was supposed to be all areas- and my underarms are two sessions behind because the nurses refused to treat areas that showed some irritation initially. Finally I had earned some rewards of thousands of points which translated into about $100. Those points ostensibly expired in March. I received several text messages to call in to address balance before they expired. Upon inquiring, this birthday reward was an opportunity to buy w new package of over $2000 of facials or treatments with a $100 discount. In the end I opted to purchase a single hydra facial at a 50% discount, but I think I lost the opportunity because I did not pay for my facial by Match 31. Overall- 5 glowing stars for the effectiveness of laser hair removal and the nurses and LA and two dubious stars for front desk staff and marketing tactics, which are, at best confusing and at worst, duplicitous. read more

This place is the absolute worst and treats clients like they are worthless. The technician was 25 minutes late. No apology, no phone call, no notice whatsoever, no offer of rescheduling, nothing. In fact when expressing my frustration to the guy at the front desk he even tried to the say my appointment was later, which I then showed him the text confirmation in writing from Laser Away themselves of my exact time and he had nothing else to say after. Finally after the technician was ready for me she leaves for me almost another 10 minutes to change knowing she was late and knowing I had to be somewhere right after. I had to then embarrass myself and go out there in the towel for all of Burlingame Ave to see looking for her. Still, no apology whatsoever even after telling her I have an 8 month old I have to coordinate care with and had someone to be right after this. We did not get to finish several spots I had booked to laser. I tried reaching out to a manager afterward and was told Burlingame actually has no manager right now that I'd be forwarded to corporate. Here is where it only got worse. Someone named Katrina said it was my fault for walking into the treatment room, that I forfeited all of my treatments use then, when I specifically said to the technician let's see how much we can get done with the time left. Katrina was completely unsympathetic, rude, and probably one of the worst customer service type people I've ever spoken with. She kept gaslighting me and saying I should have refused treatment or rescheduled (when they were extremely running late) and refused to offer any solutions, refused to cancel my future treatments in the packages I purchased. She also said that since Laser Away is considered a "medical facility" they can start treatment time whenever they want and clients have to just be ready when they are. She made it clear Laser Away has zero respect or even consideration for their client's time or them at all it appears. I asked to talk to someone above her or anyone else and even she refused to connect me to anyone else and said she was the highest person there. So apparently she thinks she owns all of Laser Away. After going here for over 7 years spending thousands upon thousands of dollars they treat you like complete crap. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. I had a very disappointing experience at LaserAway. Before booking my Botox appointment, I specifically told the phone sales representative that I am extremely sensitive to pain and would need numbing cream. She told me that although they do not usually provide numbing for Botox, she would make a note of it for my appointment and had me purchase a $35 numbing service. When I arrived, I was told to wait an additional 45 minutes, which I accepted. I then reminded the front desk that I needed numbing cream before treatment. They checked my record and initially acknowledged that I had purchased the numbing service. However, after making a phone call to what sounded like a manager, I could literally hear someone in the background mocking the request and saying, "Come on, Botox doesn't need numbing." The front desk then told me they would not provide numbing cream after all, and would only refund the $35. I explained that other clinics have provided numbing for me before due to my pain sensitivity, but they responded coldly that they "don't know what other clinics do." At that point, I no longer felt comfortable receiving treatment there and requested a full refund. The issue is not whether Botox typically requires numbing. The issue is that: - a service was promised during booking, - I was charged for it, - I waited at the clinic, - and then the promise was suddenly reversed in a dismissive and unprofessional manner. If I could give them zero stars, I would!!! I purchased a lip plus "free chin" package for my 15 year old daughter. I specifically asked the woman helping me if there were any age restrictions and she very clearly said no. The only requirement is you have to be 18 to get a Brazilian which my daughter was not doing so didn't impact her. I mentioned my daughter doesn't need chin laser and the same woman said we could de-couple the two services (lip and chin) and come back at any time for life to any LaserAway location. I scheduled an appt for the next day for my daughter to start her services. I get there and was told no laser work can be done on anyone under the age of 16. Also, I could not de-couple the 2 services and if I didn't want chin hair removal at the time of lip service, the price would still be the same ($1,200)!!! The same day I inquired about the services I signed up for zero % financing which I was approved for. Now I also have to cancel that even though my credit was run which probably lower my score slightly. I asked for some type of comp and the guy helping me basically said there's nothing they can do even though I was given all the wrong info by their employee! So frustrating!! Their paperwork stated not to apply any numbing cream, yet multiple staff members asked if I had applied it beforehand to minimize discomfort. When I attempted to address my concerns about the lack of results, I experienced multiple missed callbacks and was routed between offices. I ultimately escalated the matter to corporate and was informed that "rendered services are not refundable," without meaningful discussion of the lack of results or the communication issues. After moving, the closest LaserAway to me (over an hour away) doesn't even offer Thermage, so I asked to apply the remaining value toward another service. LaserAway now claims I have $0 value on my account because it was a BOGO despite the fact that I paid thousands of dollars. What's worse is the customer support. I've been passed from person to person, ignored, and told corporate would call me back "ASAP." That was over a month ago. Still nothing. This is, without a doubt, the worst company I've ever dealt with, and my experience has been nothing short of infuriating. They offer nothing but empty apologies and lip service, with zero real solutions. My latest experience was the final straw. I had a confirmed 4:30 pm facial appointment today. I showed up on time, only to be told they had canceled my appointment via a text message sent around 1:30 pm. When I asked why they hadn't called me to confirm I received the message, they suddenly claimed they "called and left a voicemail" -- which, of course, I never received. I finally called to say I no longer felt safe continuing treatment and was told by two separate team members that I would be issued a refund. No one followed up. When I called back, I was met with a shockingly rude response from a male representative who told me I would receive nothing. He dismissed my concerns and sarcastically suggested I "transfer my sessions to a family member." When I tried to explain that this reaction made it unsafe for anyone, he told me it was "late in NYC" and he didn't want to spend his night dealing with me. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was placed on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up and called again multiple times, only to be placed on hold immediately each time. Eventually, someone named Brian Dickerson from customer service joined Annette on a three-way call. Rather than offering any kind of apology or solution, Brian spoke over me, raised his voice, and would not allow me to explain my side. It was aggressive, unprofessional, and frankly disturbing--especially considering I had my two-year-old in the car with me at the time and didn't want him exposed to that behavior. I asked if we could continue the conversation the following day, and Brian agreed, assuring me I wouldn't be put on hold again. Today, I called again, and unsurprisingly, Annette placed me on hold for another six minutes. Then, she and Brian called me back--again on a three-way call. Brian's tone was once again rude and condescending. I asked for a written breakdown of my remaining credits, as he was going through information so quickly I could barely follow, but he refused and continued to bulldoze the conversation. When I finally pointed out an error in their records--proving I did in fact have one Brazilian and one underarm treatment left--he still didn't acknowledge their mistake or apologize. To make matters worse, Brian insisted I book an appointment on the spot and pressured me even after I told him I didn't know my schedule. I reminded him that credits don't expire and I preferred to call back later. He continued to raise his voice and told me if I didn't handle it then, I'd have to wait weeks because he was going on vacation--and claimed no one else at the company could assist me. As I waited for my appointment I could overhear an explicit convo between one of the women up front and another woman who I later learned was the manager. When I tried to check in again because I was trying to fit the appt into an already busy day, the manager was snarky and walked away while the other woman apologized and said she was checking in with her manager (that was not a check in or work appropriate convo, at least not within range of a client). I had a terrible experience and will never schedule with this place again. I arrived early for my appointment and was "greeted" by two front desk assistants who were rude and dismissive. Despite being early, I wasn't seen until my scheduled time--and even then, I was left waiting well after. It felt very intentional and incredibly unprofessional. While I waited, I overheard the front desk staff gossiping about me and other clients completely unacceptable behavior. Once I was finally called back for the numbing process, I was never taken to a private room. Instead, I was made to sit in an open area near the restroom, where I could hear and smell everything absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. They left me sitting there for over an hour with the numbing cream on. As I looked at my lips during that time, I realized how misleading their practices are. They apply a large amount of numbing cream to puff up your lips, giving a false impression of fuller results even before the injection. It feels like a scam to get clients to think the treatment is more effective than it really is. I went all the way over here because my friend had gotten a black Friday deal here before - they boast all over the internet that you can save up to 75% on waxing services. What they don't tell you is that it's only for small parts like armpits. You only get 15% off for "large parts" and even with the discount, it's over $2k for a Brazilian for 8 sessions and they don't guarantee that they'll get all the hair. Their black Friday prices have shot up 300% in 5 years. I called around to other places and the prices aren't even comparable. Nine sessions at other places are $1500. This place is straight up a scam. They get your phone number and call and email incessantly to get you in. I have purchase full LHR treatments few months ago and had three visits made so far. All my appointments made 8am very first appoitment in the morning so that I can head to work on time right after. But all those 3 visits I was late to work because no staffs came to their work on time. First visit no one came in on time to open up the business. This guy who cleans the business opened up the door for me and waited 20mins to get my treatment started. Second visit They had a double booking. So they took the other customer who is doing under arm first since I'm doing full service however, I made my appointment 6 weeks in advance. They took me in at 8:30. 30mins passed my appointment time. Third visit. Again staff was running late so I had to wait another 20mins before the treatment started. Also it's meter parking so I have to feed the meters for extra. Also no one does same exact job while I'm on LHR service. Some do use alcohol wipe to clean up the area before treatment starts and unlike their advertisement no one draw line with a chalk on underarms. It's just very roughly done. There are many more other skincare places around. I would recommend to do enough research before you purchase your services. LHR treatment will be the same no matter where you go however you will get better service elsewhere. Not saying this because they're late to my services all the time. The job they do is also below average. All of them needs to get retrained. First thing first coming to their WORK ON TIME!! P.S One of the staff told me they are not allow to clock in till 8am. I've been to this location of LaserAway multiple times. They do not honor appointment times. They set up appointments and then make you wait long periods of time. On two separate occasions I've had to wait over 30 mins. Today, I came in for a 30 min treatment and I had to wait 27 mins before it started! From one of the employees, I heard that they are a smaller clinic than other locations and tend to double book their nurses. Highly questionable business practices. To top it off, they will not apologize or empathize, they will say "we are a medical facility. It's like waiting at a doctor's office for you appointment". Stopping in to give Janelle a 5-star review, but by way of being honest, giving Laser Away a 4-star overall review. First: JANELLE WAS AMAZING. 6 stars. I had an appointment with her today to laser my underarms and after a terrible / painful experience with my last treatment, she was a dream. She helped me feel comfortable, gave me ice to pre-numb the area, and communicated with me throughout the treatment so I knew what to expect. I felt nearly no pain throughout the treatment, but mostly, I felt she was looking out for me. Overall, I give Laser Away 4 stars. I've had mixed experiences and mixed results. I did Brazilian laser at their SF location in the Marina, and while the treatments were great and the nurses were great, I had pretty much full re-growth afterwards and felt I had spent a lot of money for not much result. When they ran a Thanksgiving sale, I caved and bought treatments for my underarms, having heard from various folks who didn't have good luck with the Brazilian that they got better results for their underarms. Had I not hit the huge sale, I wouldn't have been ok spending more money on something that hadn't worked for me, but the price made it worth it. I've been doing all of these treatments at the Burlingame location. My first treatment was fine - very little pain, nice nurse, kinda consistent experience to what I got in San Francisco. My second treatment was awful. I went in, they did a test spot, and it was the most painful thing I had ever experienced. Two more test spots later and I was literally in tears and had to delay the treatment (to Janelle, who was amazing today). Between that and the Brazilian treatment not working, I have lukewarm feelings overall, but I'm going to finish out my underarm treatments (if they don't hurt again) and hope for the best. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my sister. We talked to Lady and she made my sister feel comfortable from the get-go. She gave her such a great deal on the Clear and Brilliant. Lady was very well informed, ran my sister through the entire process of not only the treatment but also the financing part. Staying on the phone with us the entire team she went above and beyond. Came here to wait while my wife got a treatment. I couldn't go to a park with the kiddo since it's pretty cold outside. Lot and behold kid started crying because mommy wasn't around. This is when the front desk employee decided to request us that it was best to leave since the crying of my kid could annoy other customers. read more

My first time at Laseraway. Needed a last minute Botox appointment and they had it available so I naturally grabbed it. First time in over 10 years of doing the Botox I've experienced a nurse walking out of the room to fill up her syringe, never even showed me what product she used. Super unprofessional and raises a lot of questions. The nurse made two bruises and didn't even apply pressure or offer a cold pack, definitely never coming back. I don't think nurses who work here have proper training. I should have walked out right after the syringe incident but they made me prepay the procedure ahead of time to even book it. Save your time and money, go to a proper doctor! read more

I wanted to love this place and I'm not one to immediately write "constructive" reviews but this has been the 3rd strike & it's time for a review update. I am a nurse & work in the healthcare industry for 13+ yrs, so I understand the industry very well. The experience that I didn't immediately write about (which I should have) BUT got me really upset was that they weren't clear on my injectables numbing time. They also kept changing the time of my appointment & wouldn't call to notify me of any changes which got really confusing. I called the office the day before because the times kept changing & confirmed my time but didn't inform me to arrive earlier for numbing. I arrive at the time I had in my calendar & they started to numb me. Literally 5 mins after, they take me to my room and the nurse comes in. This is my first time getting injectables into my lips and it was the WORST experience... painful as well as they did not allow me ample time to numb ESPECIALLY in a sensitive area such as the lips. I mentioned it to the nurse and she stated I came in late (which wasn't my fault because they kept changing my appointment time, then the time I had was the time of the injectable and NOT the numbing time). I could see that they had a busy patient day but I would have rather they cancelled me/rescheduled rather than force the appointment and have me experience the painful 1st experience OR even have had me wait for a proper numbing time. On to the latest... is I had a touch up for injectables (yesterday of this written review), and supposedly a nurse called off and instead of calling me to cancel... I show up and the receptionist informs me that they aren't able to do my treatment due to a nurse call off... I asked her if they just heard of that today and she mentioned it did happen today. Like I mentioned, I am a nurse and worked for a cosmetic surgeon as the practice manager, it was common practice for me to call patients immediately if something has change at least 24hrs before or the morning of. I am pretty sure the nurse called the morning of to notify of a call off so that should have been ample time to notify me not to come in. In the end... I drove 30mins for nothing and paid the meter just for them to tell me my appointment was cancelled on top of not even being able to find a rescheduled appointment... I was placed on a "high priority wait list." I love the Burlingame area (why I chose this location) but unfortunately will switch to another location after these circumstances. read more

Looks like I had a similar bad treatment done to my face. You will hear the canned script about how they are not responsible, even in cases of their obvious negligence because you "signed the paperwork" which gives them carte blanche to have zero accountability. I echo other reviews to avoid this place at all costs. Please go to a medical environment with an actual doctor onsite and properly trained staff not this drive through, one size fits all business full of ill trained, ill prepared and unexperienced twenty somethings who say one thing, then management says another. When they realize that they botched the treatment, they will dismiss it and you and will not make it right. Not the kind of ethics you want to deal with when your face or body is damaged. Zero credibility. Find a true medical business that will stand by what they and their staff say and do. They will over treat you to make their money without regard to remedying the botched end result. Their level of incompetence is inexcusable and a total nightmare. Don't learn the hard way like I did. read more
