I went in (after miraculously being able to get an appointment the day beforehand- Yelp booking is amazing) nervous, as I hadn't had my lashes done before and had heard many a horror story about irritation and clumping that could come from poorly done eyelash extensions. Unfortunately it seems I didn't have quite the same experience as everyone else, but I will say first and foremost that my lashes did look great! It was more the whole experience that was a little off putting, and I debated writing this review but the more I thought about it the more I felt it necessary for honest and constructive feedback. First, their studio was under construction when I came in for my appointment and I very much wish this was conveyed to me before I came in. I am highly sensitive to chemicals like paint fumes and the room was full of it, by the time I left my nose and throat were burning so badly they were sore for two days. Additionally, two and a half hours of hammering and sawing (to their credit they did offer noise canceling head phones) does not lead for the most relaxing appointment. Between the smells and the constant noise, plus everyone being crammed into a tiny little room I became dizzy and had to step out twice during the appointment. Also, I know this is particular to the individual but their glue burned my eyes even with them closed, I think, unfortunately it was just a little too chemically for me. The girl who did my lashes was sweet and they did look great, however through out the appointment the girls performing the lash services were chatting about VERRRY personal things in front of everyone, it came across as unprofessional and was frankly, a little uncomfortable. I've worked in salons and love the gossipy girlfriend environment, but certain topics are just off limits to discuss in a room full of strangers, and certainly not appropriate for someone on the clock. Everyone's lashes are all done in the same room, which some people may love but I would prefer a little more privacy to relax. I also mentioned that I had never had lashes done before, but she offered no do's and don'ts or information on how to care for the lashes.. When I asked about washing make up off I was simply told "you can use wipes" and handed a little info card. Lashes are not cheap, and I expected a little more (or any really...) assistance in how to take care of them.. Two weeks later, most have fallen out on my left eye which could be entirely my fault, I don't know as the only info I have on care is what I've found online. At the end of the appointment I was just handed a little lash brush and told where to pay. Additionally while the quality of work was very good, this was a very long appointment.. the other salons I contacted took roughly 45 minutes-hour less to do a full set and about half as much time to do a fill. For ladies loving a long relaxing appointment this may be your place, but I can't do 1.5 hours every two weeks unfortunately. So, three stars for the quality of work but I don't think I'll be returning for my refill. read more

Sadly I have had to leave Lash Genie. The booking system and the way they run credit cards drove me away. The last handful of appointments I made for an extended were entered as a regular fill (a lot less lashes and less time with the stylist) in the system which forced to me reschedule my entire day. The merchant they use is horrible!!!! My one $125 service ended up costing me a total of $500 after being charged multiple times on random days following my appointment. Lizzy will tell you it's an issue with my bank, but I know for a fact that it happened to another client, because the client told me herself. The girls are nice but unless your willing to pay cash or deal with the headache of trying to get your money back, I suggest going else where. read more

Sophia is hands down the most knowledgeable, intuitive and skilled massage therapist I have ever come across. I have been going here for 4 months now, and I can't imagine ever stopping! I had always wanted extensions, but was always hesitant because I had seen some girls with some really terrible lashes done at randoms salons and homes. However, I was not worried after my best friend got hers done at Lash Genie. I loved her extensions so much I just HAD to schedule an appointment. Lash Genie provides amazing customer service in house and via phone, their website is even easy to navigate. If you are considering going somewhere else.. don't. It is a wonderful vibe, and not once have I experienced any sort of trouble there or with my lashes themselves. Paisley and Sophia have both done my extensions, and each time I am beyond in love with their work. They are so gentle, patient, and always achieve the look I'm going for that time around. High quality work! 10/10 would recommend both of those lovely ladies. I LOVE my lash extensions! It's a little hard to find coming off the road- especially if you're in a rut like me and rarely stray much further than 1st Street or 51st Street and had no idea where you were going to begin with! If you go in from the front by the gas station, it's pretty unmarked and you walk downstairs to get there. It reminded me of speakeasy bars which I love! Which also reminds me of the really tasty prosecco punch I got before I got started ;).. I was a little nervous for my appointment as I've never had anything done with my lashes before and am a little self conscious about how nonexistent they are, but the man working at the desk who checked me in (Jason I think. Stacy was a very sweet and pro technician, but I spent an exorbitant amount of money for eyelashes that looked good for 2-3 days. And, I babied them. I agree with another reviewer about the "chatty" staff - the atmosphere was a bit unprofessional. I don't want to hear about other clients' crotch waxes while I'm shelling out $400+ for fake eyelashes. The pricing is very high for a basement "spa" stuck between a vet clinic and a pizza joint. And, yes, it took forever to do. Besides the technician, the only other positive comment is that I've seen some results from the $100 serum they encouraged me to purchase. Won't be back. read more
