First, their receptionists are customer service experts. They listen, genuinely care and matched me to the perfect stylist, Eva. Janice and Vicki, I think you are rockstars and deserve bonuses. Totally made me feel welcome and special. Second, the salon is clean, chic and has a great vibe. The 14 women working there work really well together. At some places you can pick up on the cattiness. Not here. The vibe is serene and they all work like they actually like each other. Professionalism on fleek. Third, they carry great products like Unite, one of my favorite Carlsbad companies. And lastly, Eva was a rockstar. I presented hair that really need a champ and she delivered impeccable results that I'm loving. She was super friendly and easy to talk to. Her back up profession should be a therapist because after talking to her I felt a lot less weight off my shoulders and left feeling pretty again. Admittedly I was scared I'd still see the red the other place left me with. But Eva totally made me feel relaxed and I took the leap to trust her skills and am so glad I did. Services: My mom got a regular mani and pedi, my niece got the kid's mani and pedi (can't believe she's 7!), and I got a pedi, gel soak off then regular manicure. We each received a complimentary beverage with our pedicure - my niece and I took up that offer with just some water. We're all pretty satisfied with the work and services. The tech working with my niece was very kind with her, and my mom and I both felt our techs were professional and friendly. A thing we both noted and appreciated was that when cleaning our cuticles, they did not go too far back or "clean" too much leading to any sort of cuts - it reminds me of my nail spa in Philly who also does an excellent job as well. Jaclyn gave me her advice and opinion based on the shape of my face and did a wonderful job cutting it with the layering style I like. A little later, I went back. I wanted to chop it again, this time to the length of my chin. Coming in riddled with anxieties, Jaclyn helped calm me and decide the logistics of the cut. She even remembered me! My most recent experience was especially frustrating. I went in during the sale, and an item that was clearly displayed on the 50% off sale shelf did not ring up at the sale price. I explained to the employee that it was on the sale shelf and clearly labeled, but instead of checking the display, asking a manager, or even looking into it, she simply kept telling me that it wasn't part of the promotion. I was honestly shocked because if an item is clearly placed in a sale section and labeled as 50% off, I would expect someone to at least verify the situation rather than dismissing me. I didn't want to argue or cause a scene, especially because the store was packed, so I just left. The funny part? I got in my car, opened the Ulta app, and ordered THE SAME PRODUCT for 50% off for store pickup at that exact same location. I had already checked the promotion before going into the store, and the product was clearly marked in-store as part of the sale. It's not even about the money at this point. It's the lack of effort and customer service. Mistakes happen, but when a customer is telling you something is clearly marked on the sale shelf, the least you can do is check or get a manager instead of immediately dismissing them. Unfortunately, experiences like this make me want to shop at other Ulta locations or just order online.

The shop was small but not very crowded, which I liked. I made an appointment and didn't wait an obscene amount of time. I'm kind of a nervous natural, and I dont get my hair straightened a lot, but i tried it out since i'm going out of town and I'm glad i came. I'm kind of opposed to Dominican-style blowouts because of all the unnecessary heat, pulling and breakage that it causes, so i was happy that coming here was a more gentle experience. She did a blow dry, flat iron blow out on me but took her time and got my hair really straight, even at the roots. And everything is in english, which you wouldnt think I'd miss since I usually have my phone anyway but....yea. it's nice to actually be able to listen to the tv in there while my hair is being done lol. She used heat protectant and made sure my hair wasn't dry during the flat ironing. My hair is not too stiff with product or from being too kinky still, but flows really nicely.
