I had high hopes based on past visits, but my recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I came in still wearing lashes from my last set at this studio, which clearly showed my previous curl. Unfortunately, the tech applied a totally different curl without asking, which left me with a look I didn't want--and after mentioning I'd had an eye infection before, I was uncomfortable that her palm repeatedly rested on my newly placed lashes. The immediate results were good, but the technique was concerning. It really went south when trying to bring this up to Martin. When I politely brought this up afterward, I wasn't met with concern or a real attempt to make things right but asked if I wanted to get another appointment. I was sent two photos of my lashes before and after, with no apology or resolution. It was all very dismissive and defensive. For the price of the service, I expected more accountability and basic customer care. Also worth noting: there's no website to book appointments--you have to call or text, which makes things harder to track or confirm. The best lash studio in the city hands down. Shigeru and Laura are true masters of their craft. And the lashes last so long! I am a customer for life. I recently moved to the east side and still make the trip to come here once a month in rush hour traffic, that's how good they are! I used to go to Masterlash in Santa Monica and had to keep going back for fixes because they were uneven and falling off within 1-2 weeks. For those kind of prices, no thanks. I had never had lash extensions before but decided to try them after noticing a friend's lashes suddenly looked longer and fuller, she said she'd gone to Lashes by Shigeru. Their lashes are their own design and manufactured at their factory in Japan, this is the only place you can get them. And, omg, they're so light and natural! I was a little afraid I would look like I just stepped of the stage, they would be overly dramatic and everyone would know I had lash extensions. But no, it just looks like I have naturally full long lashes or like I'm wearing a little of the best mascara ever. TL;DR: Overall, can't recommend this place enough. The consistency, great service, excellent quality-long lasting lashes, comfortable studio, speed of service and kindness from the lash artist, Miho, makes this a gold medal, 5 star business. I've been going to Lashes by Shigeru at Salon Republic in Beverly Hills for almost a year now (about 3 weeks shy of a year). Miho has done my lashes every time and I am so pleased with the quality of the lashes, the look and the service. I don't know if I just lucked out, but this was the first place I picked for the first time I got my lashes done. I tried one other place - ONE TIME - and ran right back to Miho's magic and *fast* touch. She is consistent in that my appointment rarely goes longer than an hour, I think just once ever. It's usually about 50 minutes. She moves so quickly, is very precise and gentle, and is also very nice. The quality of the lashes is something to behold. They're very light, soft and last a long time. I'm lucky to naturally have relatively long and full lashes, so I don't want to do anything dramatic with the extensions. I think they recommend appointments every 4 weeks, but I typically do about 6 or 7 weeks (though I do like to let most of the lashes come off before getting a new set). Ahead of the first appointment, Martin will go over everything via text, explaining the lashes, directions to the studio, what to expect, what the lash artists will discuss with you, etc. Then, at the start of the appointment, the lash artist will get an idea of the style you want (fullness, length, etc) and show you options of the type of curl you can get. The studio is very clean and comfortable. The table has a headed pad underneath the padding, so it's all just soft and warm goodness. Miho often offers a blanket as well. The music selection is always bang on - usually one of the subgenres of R&B. Don't be surprised to hear Ari Lennox, Sade or Jhene Aiko on any given day. They're usually booked 1-2 weeks out. Today I saw Shigeru for a whispy lash look. I've never done this style and I am pretty happy with it I was initially a little nervous about getting my lashes done considering covid but the experience was seamless. All the staff wore protective gear and cleansed vigorously throughout the process. I did fall asleep which says something about the level of comfort provided throughout the service. I stopped going here after two visits with a new technician. The first technician who garnered the five star review left. No maps were retained for her lash design, and the two attempts with the new technician were vastly different. When I tried to communicate what I wanted, she said that would not work for my eye shape and the lashes they use. She used a lot of glue. My Lash technician was Miho I received my service on 12/30 and my lashes are STILL In tactMiho has the softest touch and my lashes were/are beautiful. She completed the COVID-19 screening and followed all the protocols which made me feel comfortable. Her studio is really clean and comfortable, the background music was nice and soft, I even dosed off a bit. My lashes look so natural, nothing over done...beautiful My husband was a bit nervous when I shared I'd try lashes again (I had some pretty bad experiences) BUT he Loves them and suggested I continue going to this studio‼ Street parking was a bit hectic but I was instructed to park in the underground/structure parking area, which was so much better. It was well lit and secure, they even validate which was a pleasant surprise to me.
