If you've ever been interested in getting Lasik, I highly recommend in LasikPlus. From initial consult to out the door after my follow up appointment was 10 days, and that's 10 calendar days NOT BUSINESS DAYS. They took me from legally blind to 20/15 in less than a few minutes. The staff was great and the doctors were top notch. Dr Brewer, who preformed my surgery, was very personable and was able to calm my nerves prior to going into the procedure. They have a very efficient scheduling system. The fact that the procedure room was all glass and I could see the people getting their vision corrected in front of me and my family could see my procedure was very reassuring and pretty awesome. (See attached) Everything they tell you is accurate from the pressure you would feel as well as not being able to feel anything during the procedure; to the slight burning smell while the laser corrects your vision. The entire time Dr. Brewer was calm and reassuring as he and his staff spoke to me throughout the procedure. The post op care and directions were great. They prepared you for the feeling and sensations post op as well. I experienced a slight burn, less than you would if a lemon squirted in your eye for less than an hour. I was hazy / blurry post op and was crystal clear by the evening. Yes that is me and my eyes! If you have ever thought about it give LasikPlus a call.

I had my first appointment this last Wednesday, the staff was amazing. They helped me understand my options, and clearly explained the procedure and what the anticipated outcome would be. I was sold so I made appointment for Friday. Again, the staff explained what my procedure would be like. The process was very quick and painless. I went home and slept for 4 hours and when I woke up, I could actually see. No More Glasses, Yay I was so impressed I had my fiancé make an appointment and he will be getting his eyes for on Friday. And have recommended to several of my clients who were interested in what my experience was like. Thank you LasikPlus, you have changed my life.

I was super nervous to come in and see if I was a candidate for lasik. This place seemed to have the best reviews. I'm so glad I decided to come here. It's super clean, the staff if soooo nice and comforting. They walk you through everything so you have a thorough understanding of what to expect. Best experience!! 10/10 highly recommend coming here for your lasik. Make sure to ask about any promotions they may have going on!

So thankful to all the staff at LasikPlus! I decided to get Lasik on my Bday, couldn't have been a better gift! Goodbye glasses and contacts, you will not be missed.

He sent me home with eye drops for 10 days. When I returned he told me I needed a contact lens membrane in the eye that was scratched so that would it regenerate the part of my eye that was scratched. After my visit, Dr. Bustamante left a voicemail saying "his trustworthy scribe" told him that I needed the contact lens in my other eye that was NOT SCRATCHED because my scratched eye would have better vision than my non-scratched one after the contact lens. It seemed strange to me, but I am not an eye doctor, so I did as he instructed. After all of this, my eye did not improve so I went for a second opinion. They told me the membrane lens was non beneficial because a scratch in my cornea would have healed itself before I even got the membrane because he made me wait 10 days for drops. After all of this, I received ANOTHER bill in the mail after I had paid in office. I called to complain, they said they would review the bill. They took it off my statement and then a month later, I again got another bill from them. And they said it was the customers responsibility.

Office staff is also friendly. -The process is disorganized. If someone is having their vision checked, dilate their eyes *before* they see the doctor. I asked for this at my kiddo's appointment and was told to wait. Then they ended up needing it done, which caused the total appointment time to take 2.5 hours! Why do things run so slowly? Dr. Cohen is efficient and rarely spends more than 10 minutes with a patient, so why is the wait *always* at least 45 minutes past the scheduled time? We like Dr. Cohen, but are considering switching to somewhere else because of the way things are run here.

From check-in through the physician encounter, I repeatedly felt that no one was listening to what I was saying. After completing the intake questionnaire on an iPad, the front desk told me I needed to sign consent for P&I because the physician would want to perform it. I explained that the VA had already performed P&I and that I had brought the results. The iPad was handed back to me anyway. I explained it a second time: the procedure has already been performed, I have the results with me, and I am not consenting to unnecessarily repeat it. When I was taken back, the medical assistant asked why I had refused to sign the P&I consent. For the third time, I explained that I had already undergone the procedure and was holding the results. She responded that I had apparently already signed the form and she must have missed it. For the fourth time, I explained: No, I did not sign it. I already had the procedure. The results are right here in my hand. Then I met Dr. Holck. When I explained that the VA had referred me specifically for this procedure, he asked why I didn't simply have the VA perform it. I told him that based on my personal experiences, I was not comfortable having the VA perform surgery on me. Rather than simply respecting that decision as my choice as a patient, he defended his VA provider friends, telling me that they were competent and that he liked them. Eventually, Dr. Holck moved on to explain the proposed stent procedure and possible DCR/CDCR options if the initial treatment was unsuccessful. He also explained that the stent would eventually be removed while I was awake. In a desperate last-ditch effort to establish rapport but showing a bit of vulnerability, I jokingly told him that having something removed from my eye while awake sounded intimidating, but that I believed I could handle it. He responded by telling me that he performs the procedure on children, so it depends on how mature someone is, and then he asked me: "Are you mature?" That was the point at which I lost confidence in allowing this physician to operate on me. I am 44 years old. I am a DOCTOR. I served 21 years in the United States Air Force and am a 100% disabled veteran. None of those things should be required for a patient to be treated respectfully. Every patient deserves that. I mention them because being asked whether I was "mature" after expressing a reasonable concern about an eye procedure felt particularly patronizing. I came here because I needed a surgeon. I left feeling dismissed and disrespected throughout the experience and without the level of trust I would need to allow this physician to operate on me.

Dr Pessoa seemed really enthusiastic and very on top of explaining the changes in my vision. So when he suggested following up with him for a medical eye exam, and I had specified to him that I really wanted to be considered for medically necessary contacts, I made an appointment with him for early Sept 2025. However, it wasn't until I saw him that Sept at this 14807 San Pedro Avenue location that I found out I wouldn't be considered for medically necessary at all. He only told me during my Sept appointment that the only doctor who could see me for medically necessary purposes would be Dr Erdmanczyk. I have to admit that I wasn't too happy about this because, if I had known that only certain doctors would be able to evaluate me for medically necessary purposes, I could have waited to do my medical eye exam later. It realiy would have been nice and much more forthcoming if I had been told this upfront back in August 2025 at the Alamo Heights location. For that reason, I am only giving 3 stars. I really think Dr Pessoa could have done a little better in properly informing me. I also noticed that he also wasn't as enthusiastic about examining me during my follow-up appointment with him in Sept 2025. And for those very reasons, I really could have waited to do my medical exam appointment later in the year with Dr Erdmanczyk if I had been properly informed before coming to this location that he was the only doctor who could see patients for medically necessary purposes. Especially because I went out of my area of Alamo Heights to this San Antonio Eye Center location for my medical eye exam.

Very pleased with the quality of care from the doctor as he is very open to accommodate the needs and preferences of the patient. I would recommend San Antonio Eye Center to anyone who needs an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
