my son has been a patient since he was about 5 years old. We arrived at his CONFIRMED scheduled appointment today, only to be told that he could not be seen. The receptionist said because he has Medicaid and ChampVa, and they do not take ChampVa that Medicaid will not take his claim. This does not make sense. Medicaid will pay the claim. Can someone please advise? I'm trying to get in contact with a person by the name of Leslie. Someone should have called me to inform me as well. My son takes honors and advanced courses in high school. He is missing class, and I drove 45 minutes to get here. For nothing. I'm very upset. read more

We like Dr. Mccash and there were a couple of things we've overlooked when it came to long waits in the waiting room plus in the exam room because of it. However, I've been needing a copy of my child's prescription and I called last week and they had me wait until the end of the day all to find out they didn't send it. I called again today, the lady told me she'd send a "in a bit" and again nothing. I called 10 mins before "closing" time and got sent to the answering service. My daughters order for her glasses is all ready to go they are just waiting on the updated prescription. I tried to have this all squared away before school starts but of course that didn't happen. This is so frustrating. I think It's time we find a new place. read more

Read SOME reviews on here and Dr. McCash's office does warn you to expect to be here 3 hours if you are new. So don't be fooled. There are no drs who specialize in eye disorders or treatment that I'm aware of from past experience. My son had another dr who was the best but retired and he treated all of my family for many years. He is the one who said he trusted Dr. McCash to continue seeing my son and referred us to him. Indeed he was right. Dr McCash is very experienced, knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all of your questions and concerns and is very thorough. He is not one to rush you out. Kevin is awesome and the lady at checkout. Each time I go though I forget to let him know his staff is not on his level, especially the receptionists upfront. They do not greet you, they just look at you, so be prepared to greet them and let them know what you are there for otherwise you won't hear "Hi, how can I help you or hello, who are we checking in today?" First let me say the wait for a new or annual visit can be up to 3 hours, but they have a large spacious waiting room with movies for the kiddos. I recommend bringing a few toys/ video games and some snacks. We have been seeing Dr McCash for my daughter for 5 years. There have been a few frustrating visits but not due to the dr or front desk. One of the PAs would make early morning appointments and then not show up. It happened to us twice and we simply requested a new PA. The front desk staff are always kind. The bathrooms are normally clean, but if they aren't let the staff know and they'll take care of it ASAP. Overall a caring practice with a great Dr. read more

Trying to talk to this lady named Bianca is a mission impossible, never answers the phone, never return calls, and the only time I was able to contact her trough another person she was the rudest person I have ever talked to, did not help and lied to me About Dr McCash, she told me that he was not going to be working all November and December just to get rid of us because we were trying to reschedule, and rebooked a surgery without even letting us know I found out later due to the hospital calls like if the health of my child is a joke, you can tell that she is miserable in her job. If I can give zero star , I would. The worst experience you can get, the front desk ladies are not friendly, dead fish looking faces. First thing She asked is to pay 274$ upfront without doing anything. I should have walked out of office. We took our son in for his lazy eye and were hoping to come away with a treatment plan to help treat him - be it patching or some other method instead of only glasses. 3 hours later, we finally see the dr. he isn't very knowledgeable about amblyopia at all. we were only provided with the same prescription for glasses that we already had and were told that there is no reason to perform any additional therapy as the glasses he has already will most likely cure him as he gets older. It was totally waste of time , my kids were waiting patiently and hungrily for nothing. Be aware, half day off wont be enough , long waiting period, you need take a day off from school, very disappointed. read more

They seem like nice competent medical people, but have no respect for the time of their clients. Time management is a completely foreign concept here. Your first trip there will be at minimum 3-4 hours and subsequent visits can be long as well. I had an absolute wonderful experience at this office with Dr. McCash. We transferred from another office in Austin, I much prefer this doc! Even with dilation, the wait was short. He explained more in one visit than his previous doctor did over the course of 2 years. I now know what to expect of my son's vision problems in the future. ... I'm just adding to this 3 years later. McCash performed surgery on my son and said it was possible he would need another surgery as an adult. That was a risk we were willing to take to correct the lazy eye. He also said recovery was minimal and no pain, only discomfort. He made it sound simple & easy. Well, the surgery didn't work. We put our 4 year old through hell. He woke up from anesthesia screaming his head off and so were the other kids. He was in complete pain and sticking your finger with antibacterial ointment every few hours was pure torture for him. His response was this surgery was ineffective 1/10. He NEVER advised us there was a chance it wouldn't work and we didn't appreciate him downplaying the recovery. He simply didn't set the right expectation about this surgery-we trusted him. He felt very dismissed by him during our follow up. My son still has a lazy eye..it goes the other way now! I'm out about $1000 after insurance. He is now 6, his new doctor Jeffrey Cohen recommends to redo the surgery. I can't do it. I'm letting my son decide when he's a little older if he wants to endure the pain again. read more

I took my 15 months old son to check his eyes for suspected cross eyes, and we were extremely impressed with Dr McCash's care and professionalism . My daughter has been seeing dr. Mc Cash for about a year and is an amazing doctor. He is so good with children. During my daughters last eye exam she was fighting him so he sang to her to calm her down. My daugter has a ton of doctors and I can tell Dr. McCash is actually doing this because he likes to help children. The entire staff is extremely nice and polite. The office is also very nice, there is two different tv's in the waiting areas playing cartoons for the kids to help keep them entertained which was smart thinking on their part. Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and complete disregard for patient's time. We have been seeing this office for about 2 years now, I have two special needs children, and although the doctor's are very nice the office staff lacks training and oversight. I showed up with both of my children today for their appointments and the staff informed me that we could not be seen because THEY did not have a referral. When I asked why they had not let me know when I scheduled or when they checked benefits and they admitted that they really don't take much time looking into the insurance prior to your arrival. This is quite disturbing since this is the same staff that would be billing your insurance. If they can't check what makes me think they know how to bill properly?? Probably not. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good a doctor is if their staff doesn't know what they are doing it usually best to go elsewhere. read more
