I haven't been to the new Laspadas since it opened, so I was excited to finally check it out. The new location is definitely bigger and has so much more room. There are plenty of tables inside, as well as outdoor seating, which makes it a nice place to grab a sandwich and sit for a while. The food was good, and of course, Laspadas is known for their sandwiches. One thing I really love is how they tuck everything together when making the sandwich. It helps keep all the ingredients inside so nothing falls out when you're eating it. Honestly, I think that's such a great feature that you don't see at many other sub shops. I was driving down Glades Road on a rainy Sunday around 10:45 am. Decided to pull over into this shopping center to see what was open until the rain let up (which it didn't). Laspada had a lit up sign in the window saying they're "open." I seem to recall Next Door Boca giving them decent reviews. I am a native of Philly, hometown of the hoagie. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer. read more

The is my go to place for hoagies, especially during the football season. Awesome hoagies; I usually get three meats and American cheese on them. I usually eat a half for one game and save the other half for the night game lol. The service is great and the line moves fast. Inside was bright and lively if you wish to stay and eat. The Monster Hoagie pictured was a small which is about a half of a whole sub. The bread was soft and the sub was delicious. The service was not the best. The woman was rushing us along and as a first timer, I couldn't think straight as I was ordering. I have gone to another one of these locations down in Fort Lauderdale. I was in the mood for a sandwich and found that there was a location close to where we were staying. My husband had never went so I really wanted him to try the sandwiches as my prior experiences have been great. I did the Italian and my husband had the. Roast beef. The sandwiches are a great size. The bread is fresh and I love that they slice the deli meats and right in front of you. And to top it all off, they put some meat on top to make sure that you get some meat with every bite. I have been coming to this sub shop for years. They have amazing subs, they shave the meat on the spot. Their bread is delicious and fresh. They make the sandwich in front of you. They have tons of toppings some that you haven't usually seen, different kinds of peppers, which is nice. The staff is usually very friendly, the many years that I've been there have been many members that are still there. The subs are relatively priced and very large. I admit, a LaSpada's tuna hoagie/sub is one of my most favorite meals in the world. Last time I was disappointed on Commercial Blvd because the bread was cold, & the workers not as nice. This time in Boca Raton it brought back all the great feelings from the late '80s & the '90s, pure perfection. The bread was great. It has slightly changed over the decades. This time it was good, maybe from Coconut Creek. I remember decades ago the bread was from PA. The provolone cheese was perfect. Tuna superb. No complaints, all great. I ordered a small, which means it was massive. A large is gargantuan. I asked that the small please be cut in half because I can't eat a whole one at once. I got all the toppings, less hot pepper. No mustard. No extra mayonnaise because the tuna salad has enough already. Light oil & vinegar, salt & pepper plus oregano. They're smart there. They put the oil & vinegar on the toppings & they don't get your bread soggy. The provolone cheese is a blanket safely securing the toppings inside. This sub will not explode on you; it's not messy. Don't be confused, the original LaSpada gentleman has a restaurant on Lee Rd in Orlando. He also sells cheesesteaks, but those are engineered differently. It was the family that bought the South FL LaSpada's restaurant that started the clever construction with the cheese securing the toppings within, plus the freshly sliced Boar's Head cold cuts flying through the air shenanigans. My tuna doesn't include that, but it's my favorite. They're way more generous with the tuna here than at Subways. It's well worth it. Their menu looked slightly different now, & I noticed soup; haven't tried them though. Make sure you try their sweet peppers; they're a good topping, & the onions are sweet. read more

We popped in one evening close to closing time based on Yelp reviews. The two individuals working the counter greeted us warmly. We told them it was our first time and asked them about how heavy the mayonnaise is in their tuna and chicken salad. They offered us a taste of both, which was nice. But looking at the tuna and chicken salad, they each looked great (not soaking in mayo). We got one tuna and one chicken salad. We were offered choice of bread (white or wheat) and a choice of many toppings. I got sweet peppers among other things on mine; my partner got hot peppers and other toppings on theirs. We also got a side of potato salad and cole slaw. As we checked out, the workers recommended one of the packaged pastry desserts. I assumed it was an upsell, but when we ate it later we realized they were being sincere - it was a darn good brownie. The potato salad and cole slaw also were good. I was inspired by the two workers and the positive and friendly way they interacted. And the way they each interacted with my partner and me. It was really pleasant. The tuna sandwich was outstanding. The chicken salad was a bit dry to me. They have a nice variety of hoagies here and, unfortunately, we were only in the area for a couple of days, so won't have a chance to come back. I was not impressed by my meal today. I felt they opened their new location before they were ready. They seemed very rushed to the point that the girl who slices the meats clumsily dropped a 2lb roll of salami on the floor while getting it from the fridge and then it was picked up and brought to the back for what I am guessing to be washed off since it was not thrown in the garbage in front of her. There was no notification before getting to the register that the soda machine was not set up yet, and the only beverage choice was bottled or canned beverages. The craft soda machine also didn't seem to have just water either, so if you want just a cup of water, you are out of luck. The counter help was friendly, but I was a bit turned off by the fact that their gloved hands are touching everything as well as the raw veggies that they put on the subs and salads. As for my salad, it had less meat than what is on a sub, and yet it is more expensive than a sub, and the only added salad item is large green olives. The salad dressing is prepacked foil packets of Ken's dressings. This is not the best place to go if you can't have bread and want a salad. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, and besides the variety of meat scraps on the floor behind the counter, the place was relatively clean. If you are not into the cult following of La Spada's, Publix makes a much better sub/salad with a better variety for less money, and they are much cleaner. read more

Laspada's is still as delicious as I remembered it to be. Stopped in today to get lunch for my friend and I and we were both very happy with our subs. He had turkey and I had the tuna. We both ordered large subs because we wanted leftovers. I get at least three meals from the large size. The turkey looks delicious and my friend loved his sub. My tuna was very good and I am happy I ordered it. No sub would be complete without the sweet peppers and I made sure to get extra and they are worth the upcharge. They don't use a crusty bread like V&S, but the Laspada's rolls are soft and yummy. Everything is super fresh too. I am so happy we had Laspada's because it's been a while. I parked, walked in and ordered a small Italian with no mayo or mustard, but everything else. They freshly slice your meat and then you go down the line to a certain window, where your sandwich maker will create your sandwich. They also put on a cool show, too. They fling meat through the air (didn't see anyone miss the whole time there lol) down the line into the awaiting bread. Pretty cool to see. Anyways, I got my sandwich, went outside to dig in and here is how it was.......... Small Italian- When I unwrapped this beauty, I knew that I was in for a treat! Laspada's uses the "meat blanket" technique (I have never seen this at any other sandwich shop). They make your sandwich, then throw additional meat on top of the sandwich and tuck it into the sides so as to hold everything together. Truly genius idea! The sandwich was BOMB! Super soft bread, right amount of cold cuts, good produce, and the kicker were the hot and sweet peppers. Wowzers they were good! So crunchy and the hot and sweet played off each other so well! I would buy jugs of their peppers if given the chance. Pretty much a perfect sandwich. I regret not ordering a large (had to eat somewhere else soon after). I love this place! I finally brought my husband after years of raving about La Spada's and him always asking smuggly, "What's a La Spada?" And, me replying, "The best sword hoagie ever!" I'm a world of Publix subs, I just don't think Laspada's can compete. The biggest issue I had was the bread. It didn't taste like it was fresh. The roll was soft, but also tasted like it had been mass produced a few days earlier. They put quite a bit of meat on it, but I found the flavors didn't really come through.
