I ordered this sandwich via UberEats while at work. I had never been to/heard of this place until my friend found it on UberEats not too far from our job. I got a small cheesesteak hoagie sandwich and I asked for a lot of pickles and BBQ sauce in the special instructions (because that's how I like my cheesesteaks :). The sandwich was huge! I was surprised at just how big and full it was. There was a lot of meat in the sandwich but not as much cheese, which I was disappointed about. They also did not put as much pickles and BBQ as I normally like in my sandwich, but next time I'll go in person and ask for extra cheese and toppings. Not a good spot if you are gluten intolerant or celiac. My group made an order over the phone to pick up in store. I made it clear over the phone that I am allergic to gluten and needed to have my cheesesteak in a bowl, without the bun. Yes, I recognize this is an odd request at a sandwich shop, but this is where my group wanted to eat and it should be doable. I was assured on the phone that this would not be a problem and they would take care of it. When we received our food upon arrival, all appeared right (though I should have opened the box to make sure). While paying for our order I was told if I eat enough gluten, I'll get over it. When getting to the car, I saw that a sandwich with bun was thrown into a box. All this to say, don't go here if you have issues with gluten. read more

Great service and food!!! BUT... This place is popping busy! The staff members are friendly, eager to please and clearly proud of their food product. They cook it fresh and it shows. I loved my cheese steak sandwich. The dining area and kitchen are good and clean. BUT, the restrooms and back room leading to them are beyond truck stop nasty. Gross frankly and not just from today's business, I'm talking years nasty. Whoever owns or manages here needs to pull everything out of the back area and set up a full on steam clean, scrub down, paint and caulk. We have had a string of bad luck lately at "authentic" northern restaurants. Sadly, this fell right into that crowd. I have heard so much about LaSpada's recently, as it is the coveted best place to get a Philly. As we were heading up to the north side of town, we figured we would stop in for lunch. Even though the restaurant is in a strip mall, it does give that nice local, "hole in the wall" fell once you are inside. The restaurant is cluttered with local memorabilia as you would expect in your local hometown sandwich or pizza joint. The menu board is large, with plenty of options from sandwiches to burgers and hot dogs...but the Philly is what we came for. My wife and I opted to split a large Philly with mushrooms and the minions all had burgers. While the restaurant was crowded (good sign) we were able to muster up a table big enough to seat us. Optimism was high at this point... ....unfortunately, it started to fade after about 25 minutes. As I started to notice other people that had come in before us get their food, we started to get antsy. We had both of the toddlers in tow, so it was becoming difficult to tame the hungry mountain lions. I asked how our order was coming, and it was explained that it was taking long because we ordered burgers. I found this odd as just about every item I watched them cook was par cooked and finished off to order. Not to mention that the table behind us had ordered three burgers about ten minutes after us and were enjoying them. Two of the cooks kept fighting with each other, so I can only assume that they were mixing up orders. Luckily, our food came out a whole 39 minutes after we ordered (sans the prepared macaroni salad, which was forgotten until about 10 minutes after that). The food would receive a score of "ok" at most. The Amoroso rolls are always a hero to me, but they lacked enough meat to compliment the amount of bread. The meat was fairly juicy, but it was more from the grease as it was a bit overdone. The burgers were nice and thick, but were also very well done and did no justice to the great rolls that they were on. The krinkle cut fries were honestly the hero of the meal at this place. The macaroni salad was good as expected, but as it came more than halfway through our meal (we had also forgotten), it didn't matter. I really wanted to like this place, but I just didn't. After telling people about my experience, I was told I went to the wrong one and should have gone to the other location, but in my opinion, this should not matter. I'm an avid listener of Real Radio 104.1 and awhile back I can remember one of the shows (may have been The Shannon Burke Show) used to plug this place and get lunch delivered by this place on a regular basis. Since then I have been wanting to try it. Before finally trying LaSpada's, if I wanted a good cheesesteak in Orlando, I would hit Brianto's. Now that I have been to LaSpada's (and Brianto's is now closed) I have come to the conclusion that LaSpada's owns the Orlando Philly Cheesesteak. This cheesesteak is so good it makes me think I'm from Philly or have traveled there many times...which is a big NO to either. I got the regular cheesesteak 10" with fries and WOW! I miss the La Spadas of days gone by. Unfortunately, time has not helped this location. Upon entering the establishment I noticed an overpowering smell of sewage. At that point I should've used my better judgment and left. After ordering my Cheesesteak with bacon and cheese whiz I waited a few minutes. My sandwich was given to me quickly and steaming hot. It only took one bite to realize that the bacon was deep fried in a dirty fryer. My suspicion was confirmed when I asked the cashier how they prepared the bacon. Deep fried, just as I expected. The combination of the sewage smell, the burnt bacon and the overall filthyness of the restaurant forces me to give a poor review. My advice for a good sub sandwich, go elsewhere. Outside of the Philadelphia area, LaSpada's on Lee Road in Winter Park, Florida (1,000 miles away) is the next best thing for eating an authentic Philly Cheesesteak. Why haven't I gone here sooner! If you are looking for a good cheesesteak this is the place! They have a great lunch special to where you can add fries/drink to your sandwich. Who doesn't love a great deal? You order at the back of the restaurant and make your way up front for pick up. I ordered the supreme cheesesteak with curly fries and drink. It was the smallest you can get, the 8 inch. It will definitely fill you up unless you are feeling like you can eat a horse, then you can definitely go bigger. The sandwich is packed with so much meat, I'm not sure how anyone can go bigger! If you like your philly cheesy, I would recommend to add extra cheese, its a bit scarce the way it is in my opinion. Mine will be a very unpopular review, but I'm just going to have to put it out there: During my one visit to LaSpada's, I just don't think it lived up to all the hyperbole. "The 900-square-foot-anchor tenant? Yes, yes, I can totally see that, since during my visit the little shop was crammed full of a bustling lunch crowd, in an otherwise lackluster and old shopping center. One of the BEST "restaurants" in Florida? NO. The BEST sub and most authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich out there? Ehmmmmm...Idunnoboutallthat. Perhaps this LaSpada's had an off day, or maybe my expectations were just crazy high, but I was really hoping to be blown away by my Cheesesteak sandwich and fries here. It just didn't happen. My food, while as fresh as can be and very tasty, just didn't indelibly imprint itself in my mind as that fabulous. The fries were hot and fresh but very under-seasoned. In a similar vein, so was my cheesesteak. The meat was very tender, almost ground-meat soft (I didn't love that texture) and needed more salty, seasoned goodness to it. The bread was very nice, soft and fresh, but almost too soft, since such a meaty sandwich requires a pretty sturdy vehicle to transport it from wrapping to mouth, IMHO. The overall sandwich seemed...dry and bland, like it was screaming for a creamier cheese or - dare I say it - a cheese sauce. I don't like my cheesesteaks slathered in mayonnaise, dammit, but the sandwich just needed more of a moisture factor. I love when the steam and juices from the meat slightly soften and moisten a chewy but crusty roll au jus-like, mingling with the melted cheese (lots of Provolone for me, please) to create that luxuriously saucy, flavorful consistency that makes a cheesesteak such a luscious guilty pleasure. That was all missing in my LaSpada's sammie. Aaaaaand here's the conclusion that is going to really make this review an outlier: I immensely prefer *GASP* Penn Station's Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and fresh-cut fries. read more

Located in the Lee Road Shopping Plaza (way on the right side corner, tucked in a small space) you will find the formerly of Chester, PA - Delaware County (est 1938) LaSpada's Original Hoagies and Famous Cheese Steaks! This is my FAVORITE spot up in PA for cheesesteaks. I immediately hit this place up in route from the airport to my house... EVERYTIME. (ask my mom Catherine B. if you have doubts) So, needless to say, this spot had high expectations upon my arrival. I would like to say, these expectations were met but not exceeded which means... GREAT cheesesteak and my Florida go-to but I will continue to crave my hometown flavor. The rolls... YES!!!!!!! I did not chat to find out where they are shipped in from but they are def NOT FL rolls and this is what makes this place amazing! They are so fresh and soft, I literally wanted to just buy 2 bags of the rolls. I was not starving so I went with the mini, the original with provolone (xtra) and onions. It was so delicious. I did miss the Philly grease that usually accommodates a cheesesteak but the flavor was def there! The steak was cut very fine, just the way I love it, and they did listen when I said x-tra cheese, woohoo!!! And it was melted =) They do have some off hours and I have drove by various times in hopes of gettin' some grub but they were closed. Finally... An actually sub shop that actually has REAL philly cheesesteaks! We found this place on yelp and since we were in the area we decided to check it out. LaSpada's is located in a old shopping center. Walking into the restaurant, its decorated with all Philadelphia pro sport team decor and your typical deli layout. The prices are pretty reasonable, I think we paid 8 bucks for a 12inch cheesesteak hoogie. The cheesesteaks are amazing! They are hot, fresh and they don't hold back on cheese. So we ordered a cheesesteak and cheese curly fries. The cheesesteaks are made to order and this is a great perk and also a bad one. Because it did take 20-25 minutes for our food to come out and we only orders a 12 inch hoogie to split. That was one problem. The other issue is that the tables needed to cleaned more. Vastly outshining Briantos (which will get you by in a pinch if your jonesing for a cheesesteak). I ordered the MEGA 12" Cheesesteak with Double Cheese. I stopped by here earlier this week for the first time in what seems like forever. (It'd probably been at least a year.) I'd been going to places (Jersey Mike's, Subway, Gabriel's) much closer to where I live for some time, but I figured that a visit to LaSpada's was in order since I wanted a change from the usual and since it'd been so long since my last visit. Unfortunately, I was unable to order what I intended to get prior to my visit. I asked for a chicken Philly sandwich, but the woman behind the counter said that the shop had run out of chicken. (Weird.) That made things pretty difficult for me, seeing as how I don't like cheesesteaks. I decided to just go for a BLT and some curly fries. Including a soda I also picked up, I believe the total was in excess of $11. (Eeeek!) The sandwich was pretty good, though it had an excessive amount of bacon on it. I didn't take a picture of it, but believe me when I say that it had enough bacon for two people on it. The sandwich was very good, but I would've been slightly embarrassed eating that much bacon in front of someone and almost got kind of grossed out by it, myself. I think that I enjoyed the fries more than I did the sandwich. Back to that price I mentioned ... I paid for the 12" sandwich - not the largest one. (Yes, LaSpada's has a larger-than-12" sandwich available, though I wouldn't dare order one. That sounds like too much sandwich ... even for me.) Even though the BLT was good, I could get a pretty decent one at Subway, et al, for at least several dollars less. (A 12" BLT combo probably runs about $7+ at Subway. It probably isn't as good as one at LaSpada's, but it also is significantly less expensive.) So, be careful what you order here as I'm guessing that the largest-sized sandwich plus a side (several from which to choose) and a beverage may cost nearly $15. To me, that's a lot of money to spend at such a place as this. For those who haven't been there, LaSpada's is in a, to most, sketchy segment of Lee Road. It's not an area I frequent very often by any means, though I have been coming to this part of town a little bit more than usual lately (visits to Home Depot near I-4 as well as a few trips to Java Girls). The shop isn't even that nice, either. (Actually, as Brandi B. said ... "It's kind of a mess.") It definitely qualifies as a "dive"-y place to eat, though the food is pretty good. I left this most recent visit feeling pretty disappointed, though that mostly is because of the disappearance of the shop's chicken. Not sure what happened with that. They'd better hope they don't run out of steak for cheesesteaks, or else they might have a mutiny on their hands. The customers might storm the counter with torches, a la the villagers in Frankenstein ... Hopefully during my next visit (probably not anytime immediately soon), I'll be able to order what I want. I don't want to settle on an overloaded-with-bacon BLT, as tasty as it was. I definitely remember my past experiences here being much more positive than this most recent one, so my 4-star review is a reflection of those as well as the great sandwiches I've had in the past. read more

LaSpada's makes a mean cheesesteak! This place is so busy the phone rings busy most days for lunch. Portions here are huge I always get the small cheesesteak or green pepper cheesesteak and am always SO FULL I need a nap afterwards. They make a "mini" size sandwich that is still pretty big but my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. I also like that they wrap the to go sandwiches in paper. It's easy to feel like an "outsider" here. There's a lot of noise and if you're not ready to order it can cause a lot of backup! Regulars are nice though and the staff is helpful. read more

Best cheesesteak in Orlando. I've only been here a couple times, and always get a cheesesteak because that is their specialty, and they are excellent. Overall the place is more or less a greasy sandwich spot, offering French fries as the standard side item. They do have some deli sandwiches as well, although I've never tried them. The staff is very friendly, and it's a small indoor seated area. I generally get my food to-go, and end up with a greasy bag of fries and sandwich. But that's what I'm after when I come here. My big boy appetite didn't stand a chance against the massive portions of goodness served up. The sweet tea was perfect by Southern standards to give a perfect compliment to the meal. The inside of the restaurant is a major contrast to the exterior. Outside is nothing more than their name on a wall needing repair located in a strip mall that has seen better days. As I am a native Pennsylvanian & hail from the suburbs of Philadelphia (Yardley born & raised) - I take this statement to heart. Alas, our relationship did not last (I'm married now to someone entirely different) - this is the only thing in our past relationship that was truly honest - this place makes a damn good cheesesteak. I miss a good Philadelphia cheese steak. Too many businesses clutter their cheesesteaks with too much extra - it's a very simple equation for an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak. Make sure the meat is made of a good cut, sliced thin. Get a good hoagie roll with some wiz & grilled onions. Give me some hot peppers on the side. Done. Only other option is pizza sauce - in which get some good provolone. Don't put green peppers or salad or whatever - keep it simple! This is not a "sub" folks it's a cheesesteak. There is a huge difference. I pretty much go to Philadelphia practically every year. My husband & I pretty much stuff our faces with cheesesteaks for the first few days. We used to eat with them in Altamonte Springs and now visit them on Lee Road. Most love the Cheesesteaks and they look wonderful, but my favorite is the Italian Sub. The bread is good and the meat is stacked with loads of fresh ingredients - peppers and stuff. The meat itself is really high quality and flavorful. Lots to eat for a reasonable price. Still carrying on that tradition. If you've been here, you know it's not about the decor and atmosphere. It's all about the cheesesteak subs. I have yet to find a better cheesesteak in the Orlando area, than here. Sure, you can go to the big chain places and get a semi decent sub. It won't have nearly the amount of meat, that you'll get, when you come here. The bread is super fresh, the steak is tender and the cheese is just the right amount to hold it all together. Although, you'll probably need a fork to eat all the meat, that will fall out of the bun, because it's so overflowing. They have several locations and provide quite a bit of take-out, especially now, due to this so called "pandemic", but it's definitely worth the drive and wait.
