I recently lost one of my cats. Howeve, people from the Premier Veterinary Group at the Belmont location couldn't be nicer. I had to bring in my Meowth, who was 12 years old with chronic kidney disease that was diagnosed a couple of years ago. He lost a bunch of weight and didn't really eat well for a few days. I naively thought that he didn't like the wet food I bought so I purchased another brand to see if he would eat. Little did I know that I was too late to save his life. He was admitted to the hospital at 10pm ish on a Monday evening and we were there until 3am the next day. We were assigned a room and the assistant performed the intake immediately. After that, the wait was long; hence, I had to deduct one star for this review. Nevertheless, once it was our turn, the vet on duty told us the blood work was necessary and then we were just patiently waiting for the results and were wondering how Meowth was doing. Everyone was compassionate and kind. The lobby had coffee, tea, and vending machines selling snacks and pops. It turned out that Meowth had to be on a watch for another day and would be receiving the rehydration treatment and ultrasound. I knew some bills definitely would need to be paid. The good thing was an itemized bill would always be provided for me to review, so I understood what each treatment or medicine cost. Doctor Pratt spoke to me on the phone in the afternoon and patiently explained the results from the ultrasound. As I guessed, they didn't look promising. Doctor Pratt answered all my questions and it helped make the decision for Meowth. We picked up Meowth after work. Medicine and discharge instructions were given. In addition, resources for euthanasia were handed to me. Unfortunately, I ended up choosing in-home euthanasia for Meowth the following day so that the entire family, including his feline bonding mate, Persian, could witness and perhaps have some closure. I didn't know Meowth developed an aggressive form of carcinoma in a such short amount of time. Doctor Pratt informed me the affected area and told me the life expectancy after chemotherapy if I were to elect that route. I really appreciated her honesty. At least I gained clarity on Meowth's conditions and I wanted to do what was best for him. I know this is an unusual review with lack of happiness. In the end, I am beyond grateful for the 24-hour service that "Premier Veterinary Group" offers. I still have the other cat with me and I do hope that things will be less tragic when it comes to health emergency on a pet. However, I will not hesitate to visit here again for any concern about my cat, especially when an appointment with my regular vet office is unavailable. read more

When one of our cats was diagnosed with lung cancer, we were devastated. Our regular vet gave us a choice of places to go including Premier. Premier had the best availability, was close to home, and came highly recommended by friends. I'm not going to lie, specialists and emergency vets aren't cheap. We first saw a specialist who said there was a 50/50 chance we could remove the carcinoma. If we good, Mel had years ahead of them. If they couldn't, it was more like months. When I dropped Mel off, the veterinary assistant collected my info and asked if he could have a photoshoot. As expected Mel charmed the pants off everyone and his photoshoot was more than I could've imagined. Unfortunately, the surgery revealed that his cancer was advanced and everywhere. When we took him home, they noted all of the ways he tried to con them into removing his cone and truly seemed enamored with him. Over the holidays, we knew the end was close and had scheduled an at home euthanasia for New Year's Day. Unfortunately Mel's little body had other plans. He started crashing NYE morning, so we called them to tell them we were coming. They started an IV and let me hold him in my arms while we said goodbye. They gave us options as to how present we wanted to be during the process and never once rushed us. They didn't bat an eye when I came in disheveled and crying. A few days later they called to check on us and sent a sympathy card. Losing a pet is like losing a family member. I'm grateful they did all they good to make it as stress free as possible. read more

Consumer Warning I am sharing this to warn other pet owners about unclear billing and consent practices during emergency end-of-life visits. I brought my pet to this veterinary ER specifically requesting a euthanasia consultation. I signed a general registration form at intake, before any discussion of services or costs. The vet technician took my cat to the back, I was not allowed to be present during the examination. The vet came back to speak with me in less than 5 minutres later. Once she told me my cat was suffering I verbally agreed to start euthanasia procedures. Later, while in significant emotional distress, charges were presented in a way that led me to reasonably believe the total amount of $515 reflected euthanasia and postmortem care which I though also included cremation. Only afterward did I discover that a separate ER fee of $225 had been billed that was not clearly disclosed, explained, or knowingly authorized. At no point was it made clear that I was consenting under duress to a full ER visit rather than the limited end-of-life care I requested. I contacted the merchant, spoke with their medical director Angela who admitted that they in fact did not follow their policy and procedure of presenting all charges up front to ensure proper informed consent and apologized but refused to grant me a partial credit for the ER charge citing that my request was unreasonable as it paid for the "effort, time and veterinary education" of the veterinary who examined my cat. She responded defensively and placed responsibility back on me, stating that I "should have asked" for pricing. Throughout the conversation, she frequently interrupted me, deflected from the lack of clear disclosure by staff, and failed to take ownership of the facility's role in ensuring informed consent. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional, particularly given the context of an end-of-life situation where clear guidance and compassionate communication are essential. I believe this combination of unclear billing, poor communication, and unprofessional leadership places grieving pet owners at a serious disadvantage. I strongly encourage others to request itemized charges, written explanations, and clear confirmation of services before consenting, especially during emotionally urgent situations. For this reason, I also decided to file a complaint with IDFPR as well with the BBB. read more

Most importantly, they didn't try to charge us when it turned out we were wrong about our kitten needing emergency care but instead, waved us out with warm wishes and smiles that our kitty was ok!! My doggie fractured her pelvis, the medical team was amazing provided pain management while we had a ortho consult with Dr. Jankovitz. After surgery Heidi a vet tech at the hospital provided exceptional care for our baby. She did a great job explaining the discharge and additional ways to comfort my baby. A Warning to Other Pet Owners I strongly advise anyone to think twice before taking their pet to this clinic. My experience there was extremely disappointing and stressful. Instead of receiving clear communication, proper care, and compassion, I left feeling that my pet's condition was not taken seriously and that my time and money were wasted. The staff seemed rushed and uninterested, and I did not receive the guidance or answers I expected from a professional veterinary clinic. At one point, I was even told that if I didn't like it, I could go to another clinic. That sentence alone says everything about the level of care and attitude I encountered. The very next day, I took my dog to a different veterinary clinic, where they immediately performed an MRI and rushed him into a serious surgery -- a surgery that saved his life. Had I stayed with the first clinic, I don't even want to think about what could have happened. This review is meant as a warning to others: don't risk your animal's well-being or your money. Look for a clinic that truly listens, takes action, and cares about both you and your pet. read more

My dog was referred to this clinic by her primary care vet. We met with Dr. Simpson for an assessment and later Dr. Jankovits performed surgery. Dr. Simpson was very kind, and Dr. Jankovits was very compassionate, very knowledgeable, very transparent and did all he good to help our girl. Everyone helped make what was a surreal night (putting a beloved pet to rest) into something that was not only bearable, but left my sis and I with comforting final memories. After spending $1200 I still had no answers to why my dog is experiencing major weakness at her front leg knuckling I got more answers from Google than the doctors. I had an x-ray bloodwork and a neurologist all told me everything I already know. I'm looking into getting refunded for the inconvenience of spending six hours there with no progress. read more

Before heading over to Premier I called their customer care main line and was already impressed by the calm, quiet, and pleasant intake/booking team that answered all of my questions and alerted the front desk that I would be on my way. I came in at 7am on Monday July 24 with my senior french bulldog Mabel (who started exhibiting rapid onset neurological issues over the weekend) and was greeted warmly by Jacq who gave me great information about timelines and expectations for Mabel potentially getting a neurological consult with Dr.Full through ER. Thank you to Dr Full for your expertise and ability to assess my sweet Mabel. Thank you so much to the nurse Adrian was overly communicative, compassionate, and also gave me the time I needed to weigh decisions when the stress and emotions were high. Adrian also hopped on the phone with me today (the next day after my visit) to answer additional questions I had about medications and Mabel's outcomes. My poor, sweet girl is nearing the end of her life and they walked me through all options and also were compassionate with my decisions not to go through with costly testing. The whole team communicated regularly with me all throughout the process letting me know how much time things would take ( ie we will see you in about 2 hrs etc) and delivering on their estimated timelines. The entire team provided continued care without question following her appointment. I had called my vet, and they had no openings. I called another vet who recommended I go to a pet ER. Shout out to Anderson Pet Hospital receptionist. She gave me several ER addresses. We got in-line on their website, which made it so much easier. That way, I knew how much time I had to get there and not rush or be late. We had a little wait, but like in a people ER, the people who have more serious injuries get priority. When we arrived, my dog was stable. They ran tests and gave him medicine. I brought my 9 y/o Boxer to see their Neurologist, Dr. Amanda Full. In her bio she specializes in treating seizures. I showed her video of my dog during what I thought was a seizure. Dr. Full looked at the video determined the best plan of action would be a strong dose of Phenobarbital and if he didn't respond then she would recommend a $5,000 MRI on his brain. When he wasn't responding to the high dose prescribed, I decided to send the same video to my friend who is a Veterinarian but lives in Las Vegas. He took one look at the video and said, "this isn't a seizure, it's called an idiopathic head tremor which is VERY common in the Boxer breed". He also said that Phenobarbital would have ZERO positive impact. In fact, Phenobarbital can be a dangerous because it is digested through the kidneys. I updated the clinic 10 days ago and let them know it was a misdiagnosis on Dr. Fulls part, and I have heard nothing. She even refuses to return my calls and I assume it's because of embarrassment. Additionally, when I initially brought him into her clinic, I also gave them a urine sample to test. The urine sample was requested by his regular Vet and since I happened to be going to see Dr. Full, I figured I would just ask them to test it. The Vet tech took the sample, ignored my request and shortly after I left, threw his urine sample in the trash. I would strongly advise against this clinic and especially Dr. Amanda Full. I hate having to share this but I feel it's important so other concerned dog owners in the future can look at alternative clinics and neurologist's in the area. read more

Our 10 year old dog battled with many problems during the last stage of his life. We had gone to many vets and ER vets toward the end and Premier Veterinary group was our best experience through it all. Not only was their staff caring and supportive but they helped us through making the incredibly hard choice to put our dog down. Their Euthanasia services were incredibly humane, sympathetic and allowed ample room for our family to say goodbye to our beloved dog. Their privacy rooms and method of giving us space before saying goodbye was perfect and made the difficult decision a smoother transition and allowed us to mourn and grieve in a healthy way. The staff was just so nice and understanding, especially since we were there on Christmas Eve. If you are considering putting your pet down this location was a very appropriate choice. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the chairs are very uncomfortable and when you are made to wait 3+ hours the hard plastic bust station style seating can make you uncomfortable. It feels were to say "I recommend this place to put your pet down" but I admire the professionalism and sympathy the staff had and they did everything to perfection. We brought our dog here when she was having blood in her stool yesterday. Given it was a stressful moment on a Friday afternoon we had limited options of where to take her. We wound up taking here here as a recommendation of VCA and had a number of frustrations with the experience. For context, I've had pets my whole life and have gone to vets at various locations throughout the places I've lived in the US. I want to mention that the receptionist Latikia was very respectful and kind and was not a negative part of our experience. First, the online process for getting in line was not a smooth process. I tried to get "in line" digitally from multiple devices/platforms and kept receiving an error message even after refreshing, etc. I had to call to get someone to get me on the list due to the repeated software error. Second, once we arrived the vet tech was not the most professional. Her delivery of the intake felt dismissive and rude. We had also brought a stool sample in a doubled up ziplock bag (which is obviously common practice in digestive issues with pets) and she made a lot of fanfare about the admittedly unpleasant odor. But the whole interaction came off as disrespectful considering she was a vet tech and clearly deals with pet odors regularly and also the fact that it's common practice to want stool samples in digestive issues. (I've had vets before request one when I haven't had one with me). Another odd practice was that they separated our pet from us in the exam room and brought her in the back for simple vitals and simple procedures. I've never had a pet brought to a back without my presence for simple procedures, so this struck me as odd to begin with. The initial conversation with the vet was respectful and he recommend some very routine actions (CBC blood draw and said if the blood draw indicated the need that they would administer IV for fluids). He said it would be 30 minutes. In that time waiting our pet remained separated. Another vet tech or nurse came and explained the bill in detail and showed us the itemized receipt which included fluids (which the vet had said may not be necessary because our pet seemed hydrated and also said would only be necessary if her blood count indicated so). They charged us for this care right then and you could hear the front desk call back to indicate we had paid before providing any care for our pet (something I've never experienced before at another clinic - typically care comes first before charging you for that care, so that was off-putting). Beyond the full 30 minutes the vet comes back to tell us our pet has been distressed (after an hour of being separated from her for simple, routine procedures that I've always seen conducted in the exam room). It was very odd to sit in the exam room but not witness any examination -- the examination table in front of us was never touched. I expressed that my pet has always been fine with blood draws, vaccination, and vitals, but they've always been conducted in my presence. He said he would ask the Vet techs if that was possible, but he wanted to (in my view unnecessarily) drug my pet to reduce her anxiety. After much more waiting he came back and told us that being near our pet during this simple and common procedures was not possible. That he recommends drugging our pet. Without much discussion we reluctantly said ok. We were not given a price. We did not sign off for this care and immediately after we requested the front desk to send him back so we could discuss it further because it really wasn't sitting well with me. I could hear the same vet in the hallway say "well, that won't help them get out of here quickly." After much waiting in the examless exam room, after inquiring about when we'd talk to the vet several times over an hour. The vet came back and told us that they drugged our pet. We still had not received a price or signed off for the procedure and he never came to discuss the procedure as we requested. The excuse was that there was a critical pet, which sure, critical pets come in and are a priority but this fell flat given our experience up until this point and the number of vet staff, techs, etc who could have talked to us. At this point we were consistently told it would be "30 min," "5 min," "20 min," etc over and over each time the time took at minimum twice what we were told. I want to state that I was not in a rush, the time was not the issue. The problem was the way we had been communicated with from the beginning, the separation with our pet, the lack of accommodation to ensure the best care for our pet, so this time issue of promising us short time periods and consistently underperforming those estimates just became very frustrating. I've been to long vet appointments before and that is not an issue with competent care and good communication. read more

Terrible experience. The ultimate pit sinking feeling of not being helped and feeling helpless in an emergency. I was told multiple different things on the phone by 3-4 different people each time I called back when all other ERs were unavailable. At first I was told 8 hour wait time. I tried to explain that I needed an ultrasound for my kitten since my primary vet and I suspect an obstruction and who have recommended hospitalization if our kitten wasn't doing better by this evening. This location is one of the few that offer hospitalization, ultrasound and surgery if needed. The last rep was kind and told me I could come in right away and they would "triage" and if the nurse felt it was an emergency they could get us in. I arrived and was placed in a room. Not checked on for 10-15 min while all I hear is cackling outside between employees. It wasn't until I burst out the door saying my kitten threw up and needs help it's an emergency that someone LEISURELY walked in 3-5 min later. Still, in between those minutes, overhearing laughter and conversation between staff... While I was cleaning up, the nurse walked in and immediately said that she didn't need to hear anything as far as details, that "this cat need hospitalization and we are at full capacity." I was floored. I tried to explain that i was told otherwise and was begging to be seen as my kitten's puke was all over me. She had no heart. No empathy. Was firm and told me to go elsewhere. I told her I checked everywhere else and the one everyone keeps recommending I didn't have a good experience with. She didn't care. She didn't want to deal with us. I found out later when I called back again asking if they could take me in asap they said they don't go by appointments and they also didn't have an ultrasound tech on staff and they don't know when said person would be back because they would be gone for 2 weeks. My animal is still in critical condition. This cost us time when it could have been avoided by better communication and a little more compassion and understanding. We got turned away when we needed help but the way they went about it was completely unorganized and downright inhumane. In the long run, it worked out because they ended up not having an ultrasound rep available for the next two weeks anyways. Would have been nice to know that when I ASKED IF THEY HAD ONE AVAILABLE THE FIRST TIME TO SAVE US FROM WASTING TIME. Worst. Praying for our little guy. read more

He's recovering well are 12 year old baby still has time.. thank you again for taking such good care of him. I took my cat there after taking her to Blue Pearl in Skokie, The vet there did nothing for my cat and sent me on my way after being told she was not an emergency. If only they had taken the time to look her over they might have seen the bite and took care of her then. I then took her to Premier where I should have gone in the first place. Yes, I had to wait for 4 hours, this is because at the time there was only 1 vet. I found the staff very helpful. The vets there were professions, caring and took the time to speak with me. It turns out my other cat had bit her and she had a very bad infection and was already septic. She spent 1 night in the hospital, and unfortunately the infection had spread. I had to send her over the Rainbow Bridge. The vet, brought her in to me, and I got to hold her and kiss her goodbye. They stayed with me until I said I was ready to let her go. She went very peacefully. I thank them for their compassion. read more

I was on a waitlist for a couple of months to see an internal medicine specialist at Premier - they had the soonest available appointment out of every specialist hospital we called. For background: my cat had been hospitalized at another facility due to a GI upset and underwent an abdominal ultrasound, which revealed chronic changes to her kidneys, liver, and pancreas. Both the hospital and our local vet recommended that we see an internal medicine specialist. In the meantime, my cat was prescribed a kidney diet (k/d) due to her elevated kidney values. When the appointment day arrived, I followed the instructions to fast my cat overnight since I was told another abdominal ultrasound would be needed. Upon arrival, the tech informed me that my cat's blood pressure and ultrasound would be complete. After waiting in the room, the internal medicine specialist arrived and told me that my cat's blood pressure was normal and that another abdominal ultrasound wasn't necessary. She said that continuing the kidney diet was the best course of action. The specialist didn't review my cat's previous ultrasound results or explain what might have caused her condition. I'm unsure if the lack of thoroughness was due to us coming from another hospital, but we specifically chose Premier to get timely, expert advice for our cat's condition. After a $350, 20-minute appointment, I was told to continue the diet without any further explanation of what might have caused the issues, and that there wasn't much more we could do besides manage the progression of her kidney condition. It was very disappointing because we trusted Premier to provide a more in-depth evaluation even if there was not much to do for our cat. I even mentioned that every vet we had seen since her hospitalization (ER, ICU, and our local vet) had recommended she see a specialist. I would not recommend coming here if you are looking for a specialist who will thoroughly investigate your pet's condition, even if they have the earliest available appointment. read more

We have been to Premier with several pets over the years. We've always received excellent service and treatment. Today our cairn terrier ended her journey with us. I called them and told them we were coming. They were ready and waiting when we arrived. The euthanasia room was warm and peaceful. There was so much empathy and compassion from everyone. They treated us all with dignity and respect. I thank you all for helping to make the best of a bad situation. read more

We brought in our 9 week old toy poodle in last night after she fell out of my husband's arms onto the floor. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very nice and sweet and seemed concerned. We were told to have a seat and the nurse would come to get us. It was around 11:30pm and was in the exam room maybe a little before midnight. When the nurse comes in, and by the way, neither me nor my husband remembers hearing anyone's name except for the receptionst, she proceeds to ask what happened. We give her the entire event, she asks to have our pup on the table to check her out and weigh her. She then tells us that the doctor would be in momentarily, there is another patient ahead of us, it was about 12:10. We were told that the doctor would come examine her in the room with us. Ok. At around maybe 1:30am this nurse comes in and says the doctor wants to examine our pup in another room. My response was,"she's not gong to examine her in here"?.. the nurse responded, with the same robotic response, " the doctor wants to examine her in another room". Ok, so we let her go. After about maybe 10 minutes, this doctor appears and proceeds to tell us what her findings were. Long story short, either take her home to watch her with no sort of medication for pain even or let her stay in the ICU for 12 hours and we'll watch her. Ok, the problem we had was 1. Does this medical personnel really expect for a small animal or any species to want to play after a traumatic event? And 2. Does this medicl personnel really expect for any species to not have some sort of pain somewhere after said event? The doctor leaves out after speaking with us for a solid 5 minutes and when the nurse returns with the estimate she can't barely answer the extensive questions that we have. When I asked if I was able to ask the doctor, I was told that the nurse would answer what she could and when she couldn't, she went out to ask the doctor. We decided to take her home because logically speaking, our pup was probably not going to play with anyone after you took her away from people that are familiar and we were ant hoe with nothing for comfort. As parents to a human and once before puppy, we thought we would want to see her in her environment around her people to watch her, but we were and still are concerned about her being given nothing for possible comfort. Very impersonal care and it seemed as if the doctor did us a favor giving us a mere 5 minutes and passed us right along. Meanwhile, we waited for her to spend time with the previous patient for over an hour..so we were told. The lack of empathy, knowledge and pure comfort is sad and we couldn't be paid to go here again. We called to get her into her new vet the next day to follow up. There is no sense of urgency on the part of these people to see you. Ultimately, a doctor came in after I inquired about why I had been waiting so long and rudely told me that I could expect to be there all day. I feel like to an extent, if you're paying a premium for emergency services, you should have a reasonable expectation to be seen in a timely fashion. Ultimately, we just left because our primary care was able to get us more quickly than this clinic and I had originally gone to this emergency vet because our primary veterinarian was still four hours from being open for the day. Really glad I spent my time doing nothing at Premier. read more

The worst moment of my entire life happened last month, July 2022. My 14 year old pug, Butters, died at home at about 12:45am one night. He was my entire world. He had been sick for weeks, and his condition took a sharp nosedive very quickly. We had plans to take him to his regular vet to be put down that next morning, as it was clear he was suffering, but he didn't make it and died in our arms overnight. After he died, I didn't know what to do. On top of being completely heartbroken and shattered, I didn't know what to do with my poor best friend's body. It was going to be over six hours until my regular vet opened, and I had no idea if that was a problem. I called 3-4 other emergency vets, and they all told me the body would probably start to smell in that six hours. They all said it would be over $600-700 for them to handle getting his body cremated, which was WAY more than our regular vet quoted us, and said we could put the body in the freezer until our vet opened if we didn't want to pay that. Not exactly something our freezer could handle, but we didn't really know what to do. I ended up calling Premier, and got someone named Latika on the phone. The experience was night and day from the very second she answered the phone. I explained that my best friend had just died, and we didn't know what to do. She was caring, and it was clear she knew exactly how to speak to someone going through the worst. She took the time to explain Premier's process with handling pet cremations, which I believe after all was said and done cost us less than $175 total, but she never stopped showing that she cared. We immediately knew we were in good hands. We ultimately ended up taking his body to Premier, and Latika was even more caring in person. She offered us a private exam room to say a final goodbye, though we had already done so at home and in the car. She conveyed her condolences, all while making sure he was perfectly taken care of. We left that night so grateful to have met Latika, and confident Butters was in good hands. Two weeks later, our thoughts were confirmed when we came back to Premier to pick up his urn and ashes, with a clay pawprint and a lock of his fur. It's a relief to know Butters was taken care of exactly how I would have hoped after he passed. So, thank you Premier and thank you Latika for taking care of Butters's final arrangements. While I know no one ever hopes to end up in an emergency vet's office, I do know that when I do ultimately get another dog when the time is right, I would never go elsewhere if an emergency does arise. I absolutely would NEVER recommend going here for anything. The staff as a whole lacks empathy and will complain about your pets loudly in the hall during the worst moments of your life while they laugh. I called this facility back in August at 4 a.m. after my dog had (what I assumed to be) a stroke in my lap. The only reason I chose this place was because they were the closest 24-hour emergency vet and I needed care for my beloved dog immediately. They asked what happened, I explained hysterically over the phone, they put me on a 15 minute hold and then made me re-explain everything again before putting me on another 10 minute hold, after which they finally told me I could bring my dog in. As soon as we got there (me and my roommate), I immediately wanted to leave. The place is dark, cold, uninviting. Someone took us to a room with a single plastic chair while they took my sweet boy back. A nurse came in and asked what happened, for the third time I explained and she told me that she thought my dog was blind. At this point I could barely breathe because I was crying so hard. Nurses were in the hallway loudly talking shit about the animals in their care, laughing, acting like it's a party as everyone in the facility can hear them. It's 5 a.m. at this point and safe to assume that absolutely nobody is there for any good reason. Nobody wants to hear them cackling and talking shit about their beloved pets. 5 minutes of cackling later, another nurse comes in and makes me explain everything again. If you're keeping count, that was the fourth time. Nobody was writing anything down. The tone in the nurses voice sounded like she was blaming me for whatever it was that happened to my dog. I kept saying through tears that he was just laying on my lap like normal and then had, what could only be described as, a stroke. He was not in poor health, he wasn't acting weird, he was fine and then he wasn't. She left without giving me any information about my dog or what was going on and we sat there for over 45 minutes listening to the still ongoing cackling in the hallway. I wanted to scream. After the 45 minutes, the first nurse came back in and made me explain things for the fifth time. It genuinely felt like I was being investigated for animal cruelty at this point. My dog was an ESA, literally the only thing that kept me alive during the worst moments of my life. He was so loved and well taken care of, but every member of the staff we interacted with made me feel like I was a criminal. The nurse, after interrogating me, told me that the doctor was seeing other animals and it would be a little longer. We sat there for over an hour listening to them gossip and laugh in the hallway the entire time as we are sobbing. At one point we actually started laughing through our tears because we truly couldn't believe how ridiculously unprofessional and unsympathetic these people were. I've never seen anything like it and I hope I never do again. When the doctor finally came in, he asked me to repeat the story. Sixth time. He said, "we believe he had a stroke." Something I had been saying to everyone for hours at this point over and over again. He was just as off putting as the rest of the staff. I asked for any kind of information he could give me, but he had none to provide. I asked if my dog was blind, as the nurse had stated, and he had no idea. Instead, he told me that he wanted to run $10k worth of diagnostics in addition to hospitalization, he made it extremely clear that he thought this was the best option. My other two options were to take him home and see if he miraculously gets better on his own or euthanize him. He then left the room. I was inconsolable at this point. My dog was my child as far as I was concerned. I took him everywhere with me, I loved him more than anything, he kept me together. I knew he was getting older and I know that dogs unfortunately do not live forever. However the complete lack of any kind of human emotion from any member of the staff made me feel nothing but complete anger. I knew what the doctor wanted me to do. I knew he wanted money that I didn't have. I am a graduate student that does not believe in watching my dog suffer for a miracle that I didn't believe in, and I also didn't have $10k. That left me with one option. When the doctor finally came back in and I told him what the decision was, he looked disappointed and then said, "I don't think that's the completely wrong choice." I lost my dog tonight. She is a genius when it comes to escaping the yard. In a flash, she was gone and I was out with my flashlight frantically calling for her. After about an hour looking along my street, I backtracked through my alley and slapped my forehead. There was Premier Vet Group. I ran in and asked if they'd seen her....they had her! Both employees were extremely kind. You could tell they were animal lovers big-time. I cannot thank these two kind humans enough for taking care of my demon-dog. read more

Took my pup to Premier Chicago yesterday, when I arrived I was given a room and waited three hours without being seen other than checking my pups sugar, I was told I was next several times and ended up leaving without being seen. it seems my pet was not important enough. I understand emergencies, especially when other pets are in critical condition; however, I also believe Covid changed the standards of how businesses operate which is unacceptable. it is super important to have compassion for the owner bringing in their pet to be seen, it is extremely stressful to sit and wait for hours beyond end while their pet is sick. It seems the customer is not always right. Animals cannot tell you what is wrong, the owner will identify if their pet is acting differently than normal and trust to bring their pet to the ER for help, not to sit and wait hours to be seen, something has got to give with services as a whole. I want my pet to be seen in a decent amount of time when brought to an ER. If more staff is required, then hire more staff available for everyone. Another HUGE issue is...........you bring your pet to the ER during very early hours of the morning, say 3am, and your pet requires a test such as MRI or other advanced imaging and are told, "we don't have a technician available to conduct the test until 8 am. " This is an ER, there should always be someone available for any type of testing at a 24 hour facility to tend to your pets needs, not told the pet should stay there in a cage overnight while they wait for staff to arrive and run up your bill. Not everyone has these type of funds to keep a pet over night nor should have to leave just to bring their pet back at 8am. If 24 hour services cannot be performed within 24 hours than this is not a 24 hour facility. This is unacceptable to leave a pet in distress as well as the customer. GET IT TOGETHER. I reiterate not only can the pet not tell you what is wrong, but the owner is also experiencing high anxiety, stress, and more having to sit there and wait. If you are charging people a high cost for services then your services as a whole need to be efficient, caring, and more. It is important to provide services people expect, whatever has to be done to implement these services, do it. Are businesses merely working for a paycheck? or, are businesses actual animal lovers? With this said make all efforts possible for each and every pet owner to make a visit to the ER a much more efficient place to take your pet to attend to their immediate needs in a timely fashion, and illeviate stress on the owner sitting there in limbo while they wait. People just don't take their pets to the ER if something is not right. Please start to stand out from the rest and have proper services for all, at all times throughout the day. Stop working in Covid, get back into the office and multitask, ER's really need to step it up. If you are unable to multitask and care for several customers at a time, than apparently this is not the job for you. Extremely and highly disappointed. GET IT TOGETHER. For all furr-baby moms and dads, I can only suggest to make several calls to ER facilities close to where you reside before your pet is sick (hopefully never) and let them know your concerns in advance, maybe you can find a place that understands your concerns and it will make you feel confident to take your pet in to be seen if ever they require urgent care. Thankfully my pup turned around. She is only 13 weeks, was vomiting, lethargic, off balance and wobbly, I immediately provided her sugar water and honey but it didn't seem to work, at leas t not immediately, it was horrible to watch this poor baby not being herself. She is only 2 lbs and I gave her four teaspoons of sugar water and honey because she was so lethargic plus would not eat, her eyes were terribly glossy and she was shaking. By the time I arrived, her sugar level was normal but she still would not eat and still very lethargic, I was afraid maybe I gave her too much sugar. Apparently she goes into Hypoglycemia episodes but it was very important to me to speak to a doctor to ask all the proper questions that I need to know, but was not seen and pushed back continuously. Front staff have to deal with customers and say, I'm sorry but you have to wait, we don't know what time you will be seen. These instructions are provided from the staff in the back and the front staff have to take the brunt of customer complaints. I'm tired of this same excuse, it is the same excuse over and over. Not only Premier Chicago, but all other ER Facilities need to step in up, very unacceptable services. If you charge high cost services, then you need to provide high cost service period. I have visited Premier in Grayslake, and so far this ER location seen my pet in a timely fashion. For this location, please be sure to take this posting into consideration and keep it up for ALL pets and customers now and in the future. read more

THIS PLACE KILLED MY CAT AND DIDN'T TELL ME!! A month ago my cat got taken into this clinic by a random person who saw him in distress on the street. They DID'NT SCAN FOR A CHIP and EUTHANIZED HIM WITHOUT CONTACTING US!! Once we found out they changed the files and their story to get away with it and won't even apologize. If I could give this place zero stars I would. "Miscommunication", when my dog was on the verge of dying and this location prioritizes charging services before even administering them. When confronted about it, all was said was "MISCOMMUNICATION". Hours wasted that could've potentially saved my dogs life. Very unprofessional, non attentive, and after the mishaps coming from them, I was told I was not welcome. If you love your pet and are looking for an emergency service, do not consider this location at all. They're carried by thirst and greed. read more

I was going through my Yelp page and realized I never wrote a review for this place! This review is LONG overdue as they helped my sweet Smokey a couple years back. But as I look at him today - I often think how absolutely amazing this place was with his care and they saved his life. Our sweet boy out of the blue became super wobbly and couldn't walk right. We took him to our vet and our Dr. told us he had a bad UTI which was causing all of his other organ numbers to be crazy. She told me to take him to the ER and away we were driving to Premier. Of course I'm freaking out the entire time not knowing what is going to happen to him. We saw Dr. Simpson and she was seriously so kind and compassionate. I can't speak highly enough about her and really hope she gets the praise and recognition she deserves and hope she never changes. She really calmed me down a lot and I trusted her 100%. The biggest thing I appreciate here was they gave me 2 estimates. One as a low estimate and one if he needs to be there longer. This information up front was EXTREMELY helpful to have. Just being up front about price is really important because there's nothing really hidden. They also had no problems with us coming to visit Smokey while he was there and really appreciated that. Thankfully they were able to stabilize our boys numbers and he was ready to go home. We paid about in between the 2 estimates. Well our sweet boy seems to be doing great since then! For the last year and a half, our pup has been a patient of Dr. Simpson's and her nurse, Clare. There is nothing we can write to adequately do justice to how wonderful these two are as, both, professionals and human beings. Fiona's condition was complex and required what seemed like constant reevaluation. Dr. Simpson was extremely thorough in everything she did, taking the time to make sure we understood what was going on, answering any questions and discussing our own thoughts. Fiona bonded with Clare. While we couldn't be there to see it first hand, I'm fairly certain they were inseparable while Fi was there and Clare ensured she was treated like an absolute princess. They loved our girl as much as we did and did everything they possibly could to help her. The impression they made on us will last a lifetime. The world needs more Dr. Simpsons and more Clares. They're two of the most selfless, caring and loving professionals we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They became part of our family during a tough time and we couldn't be more happy to have found them. read more

EXCELLENT VETERINARIANS, EXCELLENT EMPLOYEES, COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE I had an emergency with my dog, Annie, Saturday, July 27 at 7:45 p.m. We arrived a bit after 8 p.m. I took her to a 24-hour emergency animal hospital located on Belmont, east of Pulaski and west of Kimball Ave. My dog was suddenly and unexpectedly paralyzed. She had no feeling in her rear legs. She could not get up to walk on her own. She tried and tried but collapsed time and time again. She was wheeled into the animal hospital on a gurney by 2 compassionate, wonderful, professional employees. The doctors could not really tell me what caused her temporary paralysis. They performed a neurological exam. A small blood sample panel was also performed. The purpose of the blood work up panel was to determine whether or not she was having renal failure (as well as other factors). The test was $85. The full panel blood work up would have been $210 The Vet explained everything to me in great detail. We don't know if this will happen again (or could happen again). It's a mystery for now. I was sent home with Gabapentin (600 mg), potent pain medication. The Vet was going to prescribe Carprofen. Fortunately, I already had Carprofen, 75 mg, at home. I informed the Vet I had (have) 4 Carprofen caplets at home. I plan to order more Carprofen from chewy (cost is a lot less -- I want to save money). When I first walked into the Animal Hospital I had no idea if I would have to put my dog down. I did not know what was going to happen at the Animal Hospital. I did not know if my dog had a stroke or not. The veterinarian informed me Annie has an injury behind her neck which affected her spinal area. Annie's calcium levels were slightly elevated. The veterinarian explained what could cause elevated calcium levels. However, when I heard the word "cancer" it was as if though everything was moving in slow motion. It was as if though the Vet was speaking to me in slow motion. I could not hear anything else she was saying. I kept hearing the word "cancer." I could not get it out of my head -- like a loud repetitive echo in my brain. Cancer. Cancer. Cancer. It was a very stressful Saturday evening. I paid the bill & drove my husband home at 10:45 p.m. Returned around midnight. Got home at 1:40 a.m. I could not get my dog out of the car. She was in excruciating pain. She weighs 40 lbs. Plus, I have a broken left wrist. I wish the Veterinarian would have given her half the pain pill BEFORE discharging Annie. I also wish they would have removed the bandaged wrapped around her hind leg (where they drew blood). Annie was laying on the floor behind the driver's seat. I gave her pain medication (Gabapentin) and Carprofen with food at 1:50 a.m. Thank God she got her appetite back as I placed both pills inside her moist food (mixed with a little dry food). We both slept in the car, in our driveway, with all 4 windows down. I woke up at 4:40 a.m. with a stiff sore back. At 5 a.m. Annie popped her head up. I ran inside the house. Grabbed a slice of low sodium Krakus ham. She FINALLY came out of the car on her own. I cried like a baby, and rewarded her with a slice of ham. This particular animal hospital is excellent in providing care not only for Annie, but making sure I was doing ok (especially under stressful circumstances). The employees are professional, excellent and compassionate which I appreciated. My final bill came to $225.67 Thank you to Dr. Elizabeth Dombrowski who was very thorough, professional and did an excellent job explaining all the details regarding Annie. The vet technician provided a breakdown of cost for Annie. I was able to make an informed decision based on all the 411 provided by the Vet and Technician I was very thankful to see my final bill was not over $300. I was very satisfied with the services I received. Dr. Dombrowski and all the employees deserve 5 stars. The reason for a 4 star rating is because (1) They were unable to provide an exact diagnosis; (2) They did not administer pain medication prior to discharge and (3) They did not remove the bandage from her hind leg prior to discharge. After arriving at the Hospital, Annie was walking 30 minutes later. She was in excruciating pain and walked with a very bad limp. What happened to Annie was (is) definitely a mystery. To truly find out what caused her temporary paralysis I need to take her to a Neurologist (have an MRI performed). I already know this is a test I cannot afford. I don't know what the future holds for Annie, but I am very thankful, to God, that Annie pulled through in the end. Now she is on complete bed rest for 6 weeks. No walks. read more

Our beloved dog really reached the end of her days yesterday, and while we were heartbroken about losing her, she was practically already gone so we knew the humane thing was to euthanize her ASAP (11 year old pit bull had a stroke). Premier was so kind and told us we could come in any time and be seen immediately (other emergency vets warned we may have "between a five and seven hour wait", no thank you very much). The staff were all profoundly sensitive and caring and thoughtful and honestly for a horrible experience, it was a wonderful experience. We spent every minute there and afterwards comforted that we had done the right thing in the right place. Their "euthanasia room" is so well thought-out. There's a salt lamp and a sound machine and a loveseat and a fridge full of water bottles, and they even have a little silent alarm you can ring to let them know you are comfortable leaving (you're allowed to stay with your pet as long as you want) so they don't disrupt or pressure you by knocking on the door. I also very much appreciated that there were zero sales pitches about her remains and ceremonial "keepsakes". We were just not in the headspace for those decisions, and they were respectful of that; told us we'd get an email with options and could take up to three days to decide. Perfect. I never got the doctor's name (but wish I did because she was an absolute angel) and George at the front desk was so attentive, warm and considerate he felt like family even though we hadn't been to this location in a decade! Can't thank everyone involved enough. When we get our next furry family member, we'll bring them here for care. read more

ZERO STARS (would give a negative 100 stars if possible). Please read entire review. Premier Veterinary Group is HORRIBLE. Will be referred to as PVG to save time typing. I went to the VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group in Lincoln Park - North and Clybourn) early on a Wednesday morning because my cat was limping which turned into her leg giving out and dragging. The VEG is wonderful and after they had done all they could do, they wanted my cat to be seen by a neurologist who was at PVG, sounds good, I want my cat to be healthy. So off me and my cat went to PVG. We arrive, check in is easy, parking is limited but free, and because the doctor at VEG had called ahead they had a room ready for us a PVG. I speak with a nurse/tech rather quickly and she takes my cat back to be examined by the doctor. Little did I know that my cat would be back with the doctor for 5 hours for an exam, which is understandable, this is an emergency veterinary hospital, but still, it's a LONG time. After they are finished examining my cat, the doctor comes in and speaks with me. We go over what is necessary and what is not necessary, I'm not wanting to spend thousands of dollars, but I want my cat to be healthy. The doctor says that she would like my cat to have pain medication, an antibiotic, and to possibly have a round of tests that she said are not necessary but "just to check" (this is important info for later). I say ok, they give me the paperwork (we've been her for about 2 and a half hours at this point). On the paperwork is a list of: -The appointment itself and the cost -The cost of the blood test (ONLY the cost of the blood test [important info for later]) -The cost of the antibiotic -The cost of the pain medication About 2 and a half hours later (we're at the 5 hour mark), when it is FINALLY time to go home, this has been an 11 hour day at this point. A woman from the front desk comes in and says that I still owe them money which is the cost to ship the blood sample to the lab. I am surprised by this because this charge was not included in the original amount they quoted me for the blood test. Turns out, the doctor forgot to put the shipping charge on the original...she made the mistake. Side Note: In my work (teacher), and in most places of business, when someone makes a mistake who works there, they are responsible for their mistake....NOT AT PVG apparently. The woman from the front desk asks the doctor about it and the doctor said she forgot to put this charge on the original document with the quote. I tell them (multiple people, the front desk woman and a nurse/tech) that I am not going to pay for this because I agreed to pay a certain amount (over $500). If the doctor made a mistake then she needs to take responsibility for that mistake. Because I am refusing to pay the shipping charge, they tell me that they will not give my cat the medication THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR unless I pay for the shipping charge to get the blood from the doctor's office to the laboratory. This infuriated me, not only is it manipulative, it clearly told me that PVG cares more about money than they do the health of my beloved pet. After going back and forth with the front desk woman and the nurse/tech I tell them that I would like the blood test to be refunded. The nurse/tech that I was dealing with said that "That's not the doctor's plan." Well guess what, I (and every other person in this country) have the right to refuse any testing that is NOT MEDICALLY NECESSARY, as was stated by the doctor when she was explaining her plan to me. I did not sign any documents agreeing to the blood test. Y'all, when I tell you I was fuming, my hair was about to turn into flames. So, I tell the nurse/tech that I am now DEMANDING that the blood testing be refunded. Long story long, they refunded the blood tests, my cat got her medication. She is comfortably resting on my bed. This place clearly cares more about money than pets. read more

So happy I came here! My dog gizmo is a older gentleman. Poor guy had a ulcer in one eye and infection in the other. The staff was so nice and communicated with me through the process. The doctor was so detailed. I had very little questions when he was done explaining gizmos treatment plan. They are reasonably priced for a emergency vet. I'm so happy I came here .
