They made my first trip to Burgess Falls amazing. I love their pink theme and the story behind their mascot. The meeting area is easy to find by GPS and there's signs as you get close. Small parking area. After going over the rules, we get on their bus to get to the destination. Kayak training is provided and then you're off. They encouraged us to enjoy the experience and take our time. We never felt rushed. Free to explore at your own leisure. The kayaking part was easy and not taxing. Wildlife present to see. Once you get close to the falls you have to walk about 10 minutes to the falls. Very rocky area. Make sure you have good shoes. I wore water shoes and I'd recommendjust wearing sneakers or those good for trails that you don't mind getting wet because I felt everything in those water shoes. Lol. They had their own challenge of keeping the area clean by collecting trash rhat you can participate in if you wished. At the falls - you got to kayak around or stand in the water and/or under the falls and Tara will take pics of you that she'll later send for free. Amazing shots. Breathtaking falls. It was a blast and refreshing! Once you return back to the starting point they have their own portable potties that you can use and a shed to change your clothes in. Plus, personal care items are available for use. There is a small gift shop too. Everything about the experience was professional from start to finish! I highly recommend you take this tour!

Everyone else came with a group and as we were taking off, Eddie said we're all going to leave here friends. I brushed it off thinking nothing of it until I was sitting on a rock sharing a pb&j with an 83 year old named Ruth. I had a blast, a birthday I'll never forget. The price is stellar - comes with a shuttle to the launch pad, kayak rentals with all of the nicknacks, drinks, pictures, and a history lesson!!! I still haven't stopped talking about it and I went in September. I'll be back with friends! Eddie & Tara are such down to earth people. You can tell this is a passion of theirs and they truly value your safety. PS don't cheap out on shoes.

We have kayaked this 6 mile stretch of the Caney Fork twice…read more Our first was with another competitor. All I can say is they have great advertising and a Pirate and that's about it. Prices are comparable and kayaks are identical. We started off waiting nearly an hour before our departure time to make sure we have a full van load before leaving. After a 20 minute drive we put our kayaks in and had a nice float to our destination. That's where the fun ended. We had no one to meet us there from the company to direct us as to what we needed to do with the kayak, pfa's, etc. Finally someone shows up one hour later. They took our kayak and drop us off at a parking lot at the top of the hill where we waited another 30 mins for a ride back to the store. No communication and disorganized to say the least. This time we choose to use Caney Fork Outdoors. Not as well advertised but this is a hidden gem. Couldn't have been happier with our experience. 10 minutes from the time we swiped the credit card we were on the water. No hour wait to fill the van, no 20 min drive to the water. Just pay and play. Had a great day on the water then when we were done, they were waiting for us to load up the kayak and we were in a van and back to our car in 10 minutes. It was night and day to our first trip. I know not everyone's experience will be the same with either company, but just think it's worth it to give the folks at Caney Fork Outdoors a try. They may not have the flashy advertising but you are treated like a customer not a number and they are focused on you having a great time. Customer for life as they treat you right.

The family owned operation was extremely helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone and everyone. We look forward to returning soon to do it again. The views were amazing and the water was perfect for a nice swim in the middle. We also stumbled upon some cows about half way through as well. Super awesome! After we were done with our kayak trip we went next door to have lunch and the food was also amazing and no complaints. Thanks guys!!

They are not really on time with their check in and dropping off schedules. We were told we needed to be there 30 minutes before our 11am departure. We got on the bus after 11:15 and it's a 20 minutes drive to the drop off area. Jennifer was great. It was her first day and she was killing it like a pro. They get us to sign the release forms if you didn't do it online then you go inside to get your wristbands and make you payment if needed. They offer boat and other water toys for rent. Once we were inside, McKenzie was nice and helpful. She took our payment and gave us our wrist bands. After that we wait till the groups are ready and things where they need to improve. People that are ready and came on time should not have to wait and lose time on the river. Specially when they are VERY on time to pick you up at 5pm sharp. ... They need improvement, they know it... they are trying. They have an app you can download but good luck with service IMPORTANT warning information given in the "training": It's illegal to operate a canoe while drinking alcoholic drinks. They will give you a BUI (Boating Under the Influence) so be safe and always bring a designated captain or a pirate or both! Whatever floats your boat So, overall it's not a bad spot but definitely come as they open so you don't feel rushed or shorted out of time. Stay safe!

Went last Tuesday for the short (1-3 hour) kayak trip…read more Couple of pro tips. First, if there aren't any generators going, the water levels can be low in areas and the flow is slow. So your trip will take closer to 2-3 hours, without stopping somewhere for a picnic lunch. Which will be possible since there are plenty of places where it is easy to beach yourself and take a break. Second, bring lots of sunscreen. And even so, consider a long sleeve sun shirt and possibly something for your legs. There were no bugs to speak of (we started around 11:30 AM and finished 6.3 miles later at 1:30 PM) Our weather was in the high 80s and mostly sunny, so bring plenty to drink. There aren't any places to purchase anything along the way, so plan accordingly. They have a good selection of snacks and drinks at the store and don't provide anything on the 30-45 minute rides to the Caney and back. The trip was serene. We saw a couple of herons, a raccoon and some muskrats or perhaps river otters. And some hawks, but not the bald eagles. Another couple saw some deer, but we instead saw the infamous river cows. Anyway, we enjoyed it and though we aren't as young as we once were, getting back to nature helped transport us to younger days we spent in the outdoors.

We had a group wanting to kayak ranging from Newbs to Expert, so we were a mixed and dubious crew for sure, but they set us up with the right types of kayak and explained everything we needed to know, including maps and tips for a great day. We spent hours on the water paddling and exploring, and even more time all grouped up as one big kayak float together laughing and enjoying the amazing day with each other, it was the best time! Next time we plan on using them for our Elk River trip, which they also do. Such an amazing day could have really tanked with a negative start, or people that weren't good at making us feel comfortable on the water and kayaks. You guys had such a positive mood, and such a helpful vibe we felt great from the start! 5 stars!
