I wish I can give no stars. This place is not worthy of one star. I went to have a nice Sunday brunch with my fiancé and everything was nice and the waitress was very friendly but the MANAGER was screaming and everyone and shouting and just being so rude. I came with my boyfriend recently because I had told him how great this restaurant was and because I had heard so many good things about it and because I've been to the other location. I also came for the mariquitas with the mojo. First off, the waitress took long to attend us. She asked us what we wanted to drink and asked if we wanted appetizers. I asked for the mariquitas of course and turns out they ran out. I asked for croquetas and they also ran out. I asked for another item on the menu and it turns out they also ran out. She could've just easily told me what was available. I got so fed up I didn't even order an appetizer just water and my boyfriend ordered bacon wrapped maduros and una malteada. We still didn't know what we wanted to order so we asked if she could come back in a few minutes. It took 20 minutes to bring us water and the pansito that they always bring. 20 minutes, mind you, we came in at the same time as two other parties and they had already gotten their food. My boyfriend still didn't get his malteada because she forgot to put the order in. By the time she came back with the malteada and my boyfriend's maduros, the other parties were basically done eating. I ordered the chicken cordon blue and it was the driest chicken I had ever had. In the menu it said the dish had cheese, but the cheese was nowhere to be found. The malteada didn't even taste like a malteada and the maduros had a really weird tasting sauce on them and the presentation was unappetizing. It seemed like the restaurant was prioritizing older looking customers over us because we look young. There wasn't a lot of people there so it's not like it was TOO BUSY. Over the years this place has had more downs than ups, but lately they have been picking right back up. They are in the process of remodeling the place. I have been ordering food at this place for years, last Tuesday, I went to pick up the food for my family like I do every weekday for our lunches and when I asked for my ordered the employee at the window started yelling at me and calling me clown in front of other customers. We complaint to the manager Yoandry, and the employee was referred to human resources. After 1 week, the employee will go back to her job. We are not coming back to this place. If I could rate a 0 star I would. I went to have dinner with my fiance on a Sunday night and I couldn't believe how they weren't ashamed to present the plates the way they did. My fiance order a grill chicken with a side salad and fries and her salad greens were BROWN. We don't even eat brown salads at our house we throw them away and we go to a restaurant and they bring that plate to the table. On top of that the fries were old they were cold and an oil you could tell it was old because they were hard and brown. How a chef allow for these dishes to come out of the kitchen this way and how come the waitress takes this plate to a table. Please!!!! WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS TO EAT OLD FOOD. Horrible people aren't doing their job right and the fact they don't even care when if it wasn't for the customers the restaurant will go broke. Breakfast is your typical cuban breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, or ham, cuban toast, coffee, and you can have your choice of hash browns or fries for $5.95. Way overpriced for run of the mill imitation Cuban food. The Vaca Frita is just boiled flank with onions and no taste whatsoever. And at 14.95 it is a ripoff. Pass on this place. 2 blocks south on 12 ave is Morro Castle which has been open for 50 years. Their Vaca Frita is 7.95 and tastes home made. All their food tastes home made at 1/2 the price. We come here every weekend and always ask to be seated with Karina. The food is great and seeing Kari feels like visiting a friend. The mariquitas con mojo are the best in Hialeah and there is a vegan option (that Karina created especially for us!) - a veggie sandwich on French bread with julienne fries inside. Yum! The food was ok but if you expect a good service go elsewhere. We went there for lunch, we got in and there was 4 servers at the counter by the door, no one acknowledged us, all looking down and talking to each other pretending to be busy. So we stand there waiting even though it wasn't busy and there was a lot of tables open. Eventually one of them comes to us and takes us to table, put the menu on the table and leaves. We waited like 5 minutes just for the water. The occupancy was about 30% and the busser wasn't able to catch up. When our server was serving meal at the table next to us and called him to bring the cutlery, he got upset with her and shouted back to her that what does she think, he's not playing here, he was working... Our server was coming out from the kitchen with her mouth full of food, everyone was relaxed walking around talking to each other and it more looked like they're at a party not at work. I've been before to the other Latin Cafe by the airport and there the service was much better, here in Hialeah people have attitude and act like they own the world and make you feel like you should be grateful that they serve you. read more

I really want to like this place, it's right down the street from me and occasionally I'll give it another chance and it seems like I keep regretting it. The first time I went here with my girlfriend we sat outside and a roach was on our table so I smacked it off with a menu... it's outside so I can get over this but then later on we saw another one crawl inside through a crack at the top of the door and that really freaked my girlfriend out. So anytime we went there after her gaze is always darting around looking for roaches. I personally could care less if the food is good, which it was that day. It actually is good most of the time, but lately I've been ordering the vaca frita de pollo and you can just tell they have it sitting in a big pot the whole day and don't really keep it fresh. I've ordered it for dinner twice now and both times it was just hard and nasty and tasted old and chewy, I ended up tossing it both times. Kind of disappointing because the prices here are really good and when they get the food right it does taste awesome. Also, I live like 4 blocks from here and have even seen the delivery car at my neighbors house and for some reason when I called to place an order for delivery they were adamant that they didn't deliver to my area.
