Stumbled upon this little gem when I was in Miami looking at furniture. I love good latin food and they did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed. The menu is a Latin fusion with a nice selection of Venezuelan and Peruvian cuisine. The Bocas Grill Ceviche - a mix of fresh fish, shrimp in a leche de tiger sauce and topped with fried calamari and chips. At the request of our server, we tried the Vuelva la Vida Cups - this is a plantain cup with a little seafood salad inside. This came 3 to the order and it was bursting with flavor. We ordered the breakfast platter and it comfortably fed five people, which almost never happens when you go out to eat. You definitely get your money's worth here. The food was really good too. The carne mechada was flavorful and tender, and the arepas tasted fresh and perfectly made... simple but done right. My favorite part though is that they have a kids' playground area. It makes the whole meal so much more enjoyable because the kids stay entertained while the adults can actually relax and eat in peace. If you have a family, you'll appreciate this immediately. We made a group order at work and I had the pabellón bowl. When we got our order it was still warm which is always great! The food itself had good flavors. The meat was tender and juicy. The egg yolk was runny. The black beans were ok. The portions were a little small but since it has different components it will get you full. In general the food was really good. Get the tostones! They are offered as a dinner entree, but you should order them as an appetizer. They come with beef prepared to temperature with cheese and a wonderful cilantro sauce. It looks like a lot because it IS a lot. The entrees were also very tasty, as well as the drinks. Any time I've gone to any "Bocas" location in Doral (whether 'House' or 'Grill'), the food has always been very flavorful and tasty, albeit it can be salty sometimes. The playground here is a great and smart addition but it was weird that they tried seating us away from it. We had to tell them again that we all want to sit and watch our child there. The cushions and pillows need a good cleaning though. I also had a Facebook offer for free churros - let me say I really dislike when a restaurant offers a promotion online but the server isn't aware and tries telling you it's not valid. I had to show the Facebook messages and she had to ask someone but we were indeed given the promotion in the end. I wish they could make it easier redeeming these offers. read more

The restaurant is beautiful inside, and big and the service was quick. But the most and only important for me is the food. I had the "simon bolivar" arepa with the picanha, pico de gallo and queso llanero-- i added some queso de manos though that was excessive . Delicious grilled meat. Love it. We came here for our end of year team holiday meeting/meal. Some of the ladies had been before so we reviewed the lunch menu prior to coming and had recommendations. I had my mind on a few things and ended up narrowing it back down to the original which was the Fratanga Bowl, because it had me at fried cheese in it...lol Since it was on the lunch special, it came with a soup of the day or house salad and a soda. TERRIBLE FIRST TIME. From the minute, I walked in the door with my daughter I felt unwelcome. The hostess didn't understand my request for a highchair, and replied with a snarky "WHAT" with a rude face just unhappy and unwelcoming. No hi no greeting no smile just a face that looks like she hates her job. Sat down and food took a while. One order of my plantains were perfect. The other one was burnt to a crisp. Food was average, nothing crazy. Server was sloppy and forgetful had to ask for my check twice before finally standing up to grab the Manager to leave 20 minutes later. The staff was super rude, didn't even want to sit us at the table we wanted to when the restaurant was completely empty and we just wanted to watch our kid while she was playing in the playground. Dhar was an awesome server and very attentive so we were happy as soon as we sat down! We loved our food and everything tasted amazing. I started with a mojito and it was delish. We split the mixed plate and it was sooo much food for 2 but we are happy to enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. I highly recommend adding the house salsa picante if you order this! delicious venezuelan food in the area!! i had the arepa (i don't remember the exact name, but it was on the front cover lol) and it was quite literally the best thing i've ever had :') it did kind of fall apart, but if you don't mind using for fork and knife, you're chilling. there was also a piece of fat attached to every single piece of meat, so i had to cut that off before eating it. but besides the minor food thingies, the service was awesome! our server was attentive and super kind. the interior was beautiful as well! i loved the green hanging lights thingies hehe i did find the dessert to be way too thick, and my spanish friend agreed. she said "they made it wrong." but i would totally come again and get their arepa again :) read more
