    Al pastor street tacos
    Chalandra G.

Came here for a quick bite during the week! The food itself was really good! I got the street tacos al pastor. They were very good and I added cheese on top. I really wanted queso and didn't see it on the menu no wanted the street tacos meal and that wasn't an option to just buy tacos separate. Overall the food was good, but slightly overpriced

Cute place, love the authentic decor and eclectic theme. Food was great, we have the steak lengua and birria tacos. Guacamole was good but even ordered spicy wasn't spicy. Serve food late, a great option for a late night food stop! Drinks were delicious. I had coconut margaritas and they were to die for! Staff is friendly.

I had all intentions of eating a crab boil at Holy Crab in White Plains, NY but they hauled off and closed on me when their hours listed them as open. I had my mouth all fixed for that spicy Cajun snow crab boil, but I guess it wasn't meant to be so I moseyed on down the street and to Catrina Taqueria to prove the point that one money don't stop no show. I ain't going to lie to you though, I was very disappointed and almost didn't want to stop. After getting over my disappointment, I ordered a Malibu Bay Breeze and chicken fajitas. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and enchiladas. (See photos) Can I tell you every darn thing we ordered was delicious including the guacamole!!! I quickly got over my disappointment with Holy Crab once I ate the first bite of my fajita. It was well seasoned and oh so good. I love Mexican food and have my own go to restaurants but this place was not on my list. From now on it will be #1 on my go to places for Mexican food. Period. Added value to the eating experience is the ambiance and fresh breeze flowing through the open doors which gives off an island feel. If you haven't tried them please do. You will thank me later.

Came here today for lunch with my bestie and we can't believe it has taken us this long to come here! It should be obvious by the lack of pictures we have, but we couldn't wait to dive into our food. We shared the lobster tacos and I could believe the amount of flavor these things had. After one bite we looked at each other in the eyes like "whoa." We also shared the steak nachos which were delicious. I wish there was a little more steak, but besides that I have no bad words about flavor. Our server, who was also covering the bar, had a full restaurant if tables yet managed to balance super friendly service and making amazing drinks. My bestie had the Coco Loco and a coconut margarita. She said the Coco Loco was her favorite because it "tasted like vacation". I loved it so much I even ordered some food to go to take back home to my fiancé. I didn't want him to miss out on this deliciousness :) I can't wait to come back!

Whoa! so my friends & i always walk by this spot, but always say "we should go there!". Friday, we FINALLY went so my bestie & i were amazed that Oscar (our sweet waiter) brought us our margaritas with FIREEEEEE on it!! We were like WOWWWWWW, impressed. It's the fun little things, plus they tasted good. Very good price too. I got the steak nachos, so yummy plus they use the red/green chips which is a nice touch for a mexican spot. love it! Bestie got a chicken burrito, she loved it. Oscar came BACK with a sangria for us to share, it was so nice. We were like obsessed, music was really good too. We enjoyed it, it's so cute in there with their fun decor. To finish off the dinner, Oscar again! He came back with 2 shots of tequila, for my bestie's birthday! We WILLLLLL go back, their kitchen is open until 3am, insane. Loved it, 10/10 for the whole experience.

Visited a friend and caught up over lunch. She chose this location because they "light the margaritas on fire." We took advantage of the happy hour deals, which included tacos and quesadilla. The portions are perfect and meal is affordable. Asthenic, music, and decor are traditional Mexican, reminds me of the movie Coco.

I've been eyeing Catrina for a while, ever since I saw signs for its pending opening go up. I was a little surprised that another Mexican spot was opening downtown, since there are at least four other ones within a few block radius. Nevertheless, I wanted to try this place out to see how it stacked up. I was off work today and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to try them out, so off I went. Catrina is in a prime location, right in the middle of the Mamaroneck Ave strip. I decided to order to go - I placed my order online and then headed over to pick it up. This space was a small diner prior to Catrina opening, and they did a great job opening up the dining room and providing better flow. I loved the decor, it was colorful and over the top which is exactly what I like to see in Mexican restaurants. The menu had a good selection of offerings, but since the restaurant stressed in their name that they were a taqueria, I decided on tacos. They're sold individually and are separated by type of protein offered - more basic offerings like chicken and pork are one price and more expensive proteins such as lobster are a higher price point. I decided to get two al pastor tacos, and an order of chicken empanadas. The tacos were just okay, the pork was kind of dry but the (flavorful) sauce that came with the dish helped; I didn't find them to be out of the ordinary. I also felt that the price they charged didn't match the quality or offerings. I personally didn't think the tacos were worth $4 each, and would like to have seen a deal where you can get a certain number at a deal or pair them with a side. The empanadas were just fine, though I have had better ones elsewhere. I realize that getting takeout may have impacted the quality, but I have also ordered takeout from other Mexican spots in the area and the food was better. Service was friendly, but overall I was less than impressed with Catrina. Perhaps their other menu items are better, but I didn't think their tacos were special enough to stand out among its peers in the area nor worth a $4 price tag. I would be willing to try them again, this time to dine in and see if there is a difference - but in general you can get better Mexican food elsewhere in White Plains.

This is, hands down, my favorite Mexican place in White Plains! I love coming here. The ambiance, food, drinks and service is better than any other place I've been to in the area. I've been here for brunch, lunch and dinner. It's my favorite weekly spot! I would highly recommend the jalapeño margaritas, chicken nachos, and the tacos. Their food is fresh, delicious and flavorful. I can't wait to stop back here again soon.

    My chicken enchilada lunch special

I stopped in for lunch. It's absolutely adorable in there, very colorful and festive. Servers are extremely nice and friendly. We ordered taco salad and chicken enchiladas with green sauce for our entrées. The taco salad was very fresh and my enchiladas were equally good. The tomatillo sauce is spicier than expected! I enjoy the rice and beans on the side. Overall, the waitress was very gracious, service was good and we enjoyed our lunch! The lunch specials are priced well and the drinks looked fabulous at the bar. I will try one next time!

the food was good, we were the only ones in the restaurant which was nice. we always get burrito bowls which are really good. only reason i give 3 stars is because they automatically add a tip into the check and tax on it , which i feel like we should get free chips n salsa or something if theyre going to add tax by myself

The ambiance is top notch, especially on a busy Friday night. Packed to the gills with some of the most beautiful people living in and around White Plains, it is a treat to come here when everything else has already closed and the party. must. go. on! :-) However, I do have one bone to pick. The bouncer stationed at the front is extremely and suddenly rude. I was shocked last night by this experience. At first, I was let in just fine, told that I just needed to "sheath" my bluetooth speaker that I usually use to provide my own musical ambiance when traveling up and down Mamaroneck Avenue. I walked around inside unscathed, was even so lucky as to catch the eye of a few beautiful ladies- lucky me. I stepped outside to catch a breath - so packed inside - and saw one of those same ladies inside through the glass window. We made momentary eye contact, and I was going to re-enter to chat with her, when the bouncer appeared out of nowhere and told me, rudely, to leave at once. That he had had "too many complaints about me". I truly had done nothing to receive this treatment. I hadn't had a drink all night, I was dressed exquisitely, and I'm an above average dancer. And yet, when I told him I had done nothing, his response was "LEAVE. NOW." I mean, WTF? Other than that, it is great there. I might go back one day if that bouncer receives an attitude adjustment. But until then, I'll steer clear and spend my time at Cantina, whose doorman is MUCH nicer to the clientele and is much less likely to be on some substance when allowing people in the door.

The flavor is a nice sweet and mild spicy combo on the sticky, saucy side. It's a fun switch up from traditional flavors. I just wish they had a little more crisp to them. Drinks, atmosphere, and energy are really what make this place. Food is good enough to enjoy while you're there, just don't go in expecting top tier wings. Overall, a fun spot to hang out.

Smooth start. Now let's talk food... because Brazen Fox hit the mark. First up, the fried pickles--super crispy, hot, and coated in a beautiful, crunchy batter that had my wife and I questioning life choices for not ordering two plates. Like, who gave these pickles permission to be this crispy and this good? Then came the star of the show--the buffalo chicken wonton tacos!! Listen... these were my FAVORITE. Crispy buffalo chicken, perfectly tucked into a AMAZINGLY CRISPY AND TASTY wonton shell, with that blue cheese bringing it all together like a family reunion that actually gets along. Simple presentation, BIG flavor. The chicken shawarma stepped in real smooth too--tender chicken thighs, jalapeño cilantro sauce, tzatziki, and charred naan bread (I think it was really pita bread). The fresh tomato cucumber salad, I'd say, was the star on that plate. It was giving "I know what I'm doing" energy. Every bite hit. And let's not forget the steak frites--because yes, the steak was great, and I love steak! Cooked right, flavorful, and paired with a peppercorn sauce and hand-cut fries that made me pause mid-bite just to nod in approval like a food critic on TV. Now the vibe... this place has that old-time upscale pub feeling, a classy modern-day ragtime feel with huge wrap around bar and televisions placed on the walls in a way that is not overwhelming and doesn't interrupt the old-time era feeling. Comfortable, polished, stylish, and just a great place to sit back, eat good, and enjoy yourself. All in, about $135 after tip--and honestly, worth it for the experience, the flavors, and the fact that I'm still thinking about those tacos. Brazen Fox... yeah, I'll be back. Probably sooner than I should be.
