Finally had a chance to try this location and I was blown away! It appears they have been in business so long and you can definitely tell the love for this place based off of their signature wall. The barista was so nice and helpful while we figured out what we wanted. I also was able to get a mother of macros dessert to go with my coffee. Although hopefully in the future they can have more pastry options. Nonetheless, My coffee was amazing and the perfect amount of sweetness. And while I used to alternate between another shop and LCC I no longer have any loyalty to any other than Laughing Cat I love dark roast. It's not the most popular but for me it's the only roast I buy when I by whole bean. I've yet to find any other place that does it better. Went to the Laughing Cat for coffee yesterday before work as it is on the way. I was surprised to see it empty but maybe it was the time that I went. I was greeted and served in a timely manner. The girl who served me was very polite and even suggested a warmed up chocolate croissant. It was delicious! I also ordered a vanilla iced decaf latte. It was perfectly made. The decor was super cute! As the walls were painted in purple and they had a signature wall, along with a drawing of a "food truck" at the cashier site. Loved that. Walked over to Laughing Cat from my business and the cafe is adorable. There is a signature wall of people drawing cats and there is some very talented peeps. They have a few table and chairs if you want to enjoy your coffee on site. We got ours to go. The staff was friendly. They gave our dog a pup cup without us asking. Very cool place. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. I LOVE coffee and not just for the caffeine but the flavor. He helped me pick some out based off what I'm looking for and flavors I like. He also gave me a paper to help with how to store coffee and tea and how to brew your tea. I have a little more knowledge in the coffee department so his help with teas was extremely nice. He has a big variety and good brew devices for both coffee and tea if you don't have one. He also has coffee that is shade grown rather than sun so the heartburn is a lot less! (Yay more red sauce food for me! JK! Haha) But definitely check it out if you haven't! Mark, owner and roaster & originally from the bay area, brings a decidedly San Francisco style of roasting to Reno long before the chains arrived. He roasts daily and has over 20 different varieties and roasts from around the world including decaf and flavored. He also has over 25 specialty teas, that he and his sister have personally selected. Mark and his sister Alison, share their extensive knowledge of close to 20 years with the customer. I'm glad I flipped a U-turn and went here, finally. After a couple of years driving by and wanting to check this place out, New Years Eve 2015 was that day. I was amazed by the smell when I walked in, it is dated looking and there's a lot going on. I'm giving 4 stars for the owner not acknowledging me or saying hello until after 10 minutes of standing there looking around. He was talking to a customer (maybe a regular), I guess you could say he gets SO into talking to his customers and teaching them about coffee and tea, that he didn't realize I was there...? Anyways, typically I go for medium roast coffees, so when he finally gave me his attention, we narrowed the options down to only medium roast blends. I've been wanting to try local coffees after getting grossed out by grocery store coffee, which is always dry and bland. Mark and I decided on the Ethiopian, the Brazilian, and one of his most popular blends, the Highlander Grogg. Out of those I would have to say the Ethiopian is my favorite. I've been grinding the Highlander Grogg myself and brewing a pour over cup, it smells like waffles and maple syrup, but it's not a flavored coffee - it's amazing. All in all, I will definitely be going back for more coffee on a monthly basis. After brewing these I am very spoiled and Starbucks just doesn't come close. read more
