Laulie went above my expectations and was extremely impressive. I was trying them for the first time for my granny's birthday and just walked in to see if they had any fresh items so I can try before I buy. Cakes can be expensive and it's nice to be able to purchase a taste. In the case their were fresh cupcakes and other desserts available to purchase. I purchased a cupcake to see if I would want to order additional cupcakes and it was very moist and the right balance of icing. Sometimes cupcakes can be too sweet but this was as close to perfection as anyone can expect. The associates were very friendly when I went in to order my items. I ordered cupcakes and a 6'inch cake. The desserts not only were masterfully done like artwork but just as delectable to taste. They also helped me to the car as I had several items. The price was also reasonable. I feel like I found out the best kept bakery secret in St. Charles. If you want something sweet this is the place to go. read more

This cherry was baked and iced to perfection! The cake was moist and the right amount of sweetness to the buttercream icing. The cherry filling was a fantastic surprise . This cupcake shop is on Main Street in St. Charles. As soon as you walk in you can smell and see them baking. They have a bunch of gooey butter cake options and several cupcake flavors. The staff was really nice and patient while I figured out what I wanted to order. They close at 6:00 pm so be sure to get there before then. Laulie cakes did a great job communicating with me in advance of pickup. I gave them a few general ideas and they sent me some links of examples to see what I liked and didn't like. The cake ended up being beautiful (all of my family thought it was fake that's how amazing it was!) and on top of that it was delicious. We went with the white raspberry and it was a hit. This was my first time ordering a fancy cake. It was for my MIL 60th, so a tip to any other newbies is to tell them to put the name or age on the cake (ie a little personalization in addition to getting a beautiful cake!) :) read more

I ordered a custom cake from Laulie's for my daughter's birthday. It was a little hard to get in touch with the owner to place the order but once I did, she was helpful & friendly. The day of delivery, she delivered the cake herself because her delivery person called in sick. The delivery was still on time and perfect! The cake itself was beautiful. The fondant icing, decorations and little figurines were adorable. The cake itself tasted very good. I'm not a fan of fondant which is rather disgusting whomever does it. However, the chocolate cake itself was very good. I give the cake a solid B for taste. Overall, I was pleased with my order from Laulie's. I spent at least ten minutes on the phone placing an order for cupcakes and cookies for my son's graduation party, only to get to Laulies to pick the items up and voila NO items! Horrible! Went into the store on a sat morning to order a birthday cake for my daughters 8th birthday, only to find out not only does the owner NOT work on the weekends. The girl she left in charge advised me she can't take any cake orders because she has not been trained. I have been driving past Laulie Cakes for awhile now and always wondered what they had so today I figured I would stop by and see the store. I was kind of wanting to purchase some cake pops for the kids but she said they do sell them, but only by special order. She then showed me their selection for the day and handed me a menu. She explained the way each cupcake is prepared and told me a little about their business. I ended up leaving with two cupcakes, The Cookie Dough Cupcake, and The Boston Cream Cupcake. I have tasted the cookie dough cupcake and plan to eat the other later this evening. The cookie dough is completely delicious and the Boston cream looks amazing too. The cupcakes are large enough for two people to share and have a reasonable amount. It is possible for four to share the cupcakes from Laulie too (that is what we did). BUT, keep in mind that if four people share the cupcake, you'll only get a couple of small bites. read more

I have placed 3 orders with Laulie Cakes and have always been extremely satisfied. I have had custom cupcakes made which all the kids (and adults) loved, I ordered a custom Mater cake with chocolate and reese cup filling which not only looked incredibly but tasted even better. I had to hold off cutting it because our guests wanted to take photos of it. The next cake I ordered was to celebrate the Marine Corp Birthday. I only requested a sheet cake with a little bit of writting and she asked me if she could have some decorating liberties. Knowing how great my other orders turned out I said "absolutely!" When I picked up the cake I was amazed at how much detail she put into it. It was beyond anything I had pictured in my head. Once again, the cake looked and tasted incredible! Went and purchased last minute cupcakes for my husbands birthday. Bought six. The one my husband was eating had a hair baked in it. Extremely angry. The next day I called and told them about it. She said that she would refund a measly $3 for the hairy cupcake. Needless to say we were not going to eat the rest of them, more than likely they were made from the same batch! We ordered a custom cake back in March of this year and it was a Lego Indiana Jones cake. Laura said she'd never done one before but always liked to try new cakes. The cake was beyond my expectations, all I gave her were a few pictures that I found online and she made each piece look so authentic. There was a little Lego Indiana Jones guy with a whip and fondant Lego pieces and boulders - it was really amazing and my 7 year old was so amazed and in awe of the cake. Not only do they deliver the best-looking, most creative cakes, but they are DELICIOUS. So I tried Laulie's due to having a Living Social from them. What a lucky choice I made! I got 3 flavors of cupcakes. The tropical banana one was fine, Chocolate raspberry was good but the chocolate chip one was to die for! The melding of the chocolate pieces with the white cake was divine. I haven't even had the opportunity to try the cupcakes, and this place has already lost my business. My boyfriend stopped by yesterday around 3:00PM, two hours before closing time, and the doors were locked. No sign indicating why or if/when anyone would return. Today we stopped by around the same time and were greeted by a 'sold out' sign in the window. Sold out at 3:00PM on a Wednesday? Really? Perhaps they should shorten their hours, or bake enough to accommodate the demands of their customers. Better to have a few leftovers at the end of the day than to drive away business. I placed a special order for a large, sheet cake to celebrate our son's adoption and was sincerely dissapointed. The cake was not decorated as we had agreed. It simply had a rectangle of fondant on it with piped icing people drawn. We had agreed on fondant people. And to make it worse, when we shared it with our guests they asked what grocery store I purchased it from :( Unfortunately I paid significantly more for a cake that appeared to be below average in decor and taste.
