I have been coming here for breakfast because it is cheap and everything I've had here is delicious. I recommend the blueberry muffin, the mixed berry turnover, and I always see people getting a metric s*** ton of bagels and cream cheese--I despise cream cheese so I can't attest to it. Courtney (I believe is her name) is a super nice cashier/server that is always happy to help and obviously takes pride in how she conducts herself and her station. You should tip her for her hard work! Sidetip: Just because something is not on the display early in the morning doesn't mean they don't have it. Seemingly LGBT+ friendly and more spacious than it looks on the outside. WiFi was great. read more

So I've tried several coffee shops in Nola and this was my first time here. Great location but the parking situation is horrible. The coffee and morning snacks are good - nice variety, good place for meetings or to work remotely and vibe was good. Service was a little slow but it was a busy morning. I'll have to go back again to try them out one more time before I move on to the next coffee shop -the location on Broad Street is very busy. read more

This place is disgusting! I stopped in to get a blueberry muffin. It was mid morning and there were two blueberry muffins left on a platter that probably held a dozen when full. Got to the car to find it was cold. Not cool or no longer warm, but out of a refrigerator after probably having been frozen cold. I walked back in and pointed out it was cold. The clerk acted as if I should have known that and then took it and gleefully told me she'd heat it up in the microwave as if this is a normal behavior. She then handed it back microwaved. I asked her when the muffins were made at this...ya know...bakery. She told me (again as if there were nothing wrong with her statement) that they are made the day before...not that THOSE WERE made the day before but that THEY ARE (as in all their muffins always) made the day before!!! Back in the car I took one bite of my nukes days old leftover muffin. It was disgusting. Tasted like chemicals. Had a texture that made you wish for even gas station muffins, and was wholly inedible. It went into the trash which is where this sad joke of a bakery belongs. Save your time and money and just buy frozen factory made faux fresh bakery items from Walmart or Rouse's. They're sadly better and fresher. To the business owner: do the right thing! Laziness is a hell of a bad business model despite how common it is around New Orleans these days! You know better. Your customers deserve better. And, you should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourselves. read more

I've been to this neighborhood bakery three times, and while my past visits were wonderful, today was a letdown. Usually, the young lady working there is super sweet--she knows most customers by name and has helped me pick out amazing pastries for my team before, spending over $50.00 on pastries alone each time. But today was different. After ordering my pastries and a sandwich, she handed me the box with a cheerful "Here you gooo"--but forgot the sandwich. When I asked for a receipt, she said it would take a couple of minutes. I waited nearly an hour. I get that the place was busy, but when she finally printed the receipt (which took less than a minute), there was no apology or effort to make up for the awkward wait. So glad they're reopened! This place has upped their game. The quiche option is always vegetarian, so I can count on it when I can't decide what to eat. Awesome cream cheese flavors too; I got the shallot, but will try olive pimento next time. The lattes are strong and extra shots are cheap. So, my first review back after a long hiatus and it is not a good one. Laurel Street Bakery, near my work, parking adjacent, should be a lovely friendship, but nay, nay, this was not meant to be. I was in a hurry, and stopped in for a quick breakfast sandwich to take away my hunger pangs. The line was small enough, and it did not appear busy, and after some wrangling the cashier informed me it should be about 5-10 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. Now mind you the place was not busy, but whatever, I figured this was a canned response to every time inquiry, like a pizza is always 45 minutes, although it may be 15 minutes. I ordered an "All American" which consists of :One egg scrambled with cheese, bacon, sliced tomato, and melted American cheese. I ordered this, and waited, and waited, and waited. My sandwich arrived, and did not feel particularly hot, as it should have been as it was made to order. My Bagel was hard, not over toasted, but hard as though it had been the day's before bagel. The bacon was cold, and the egg was warm. The tomato, was just there like as was the cold American cheese. Now, I am a fan of American Cheese in a Bagel Sandwich, unless it is cold American Cheese, and then it has the worse texture. these facts I found out when I arrived at my office a few blocks away. My sandwich had obviously waited to be given to me, and waited, and waited, and waited. This is what they do for their bread and butter, literally!! Sandwiches!! And mine, was not worth the money I paid for it. $7.50 plus tax. It was about as good as a fast food bagel sandwich, with the price of an uptown sandwich. No Bueno!! The food was nowhere near on par with a bakery produced item, especially my bagel. I cannot see going back, as if the bagel is not good, from a Bakery, then nothing else can be discussed. The bagel at LEAST should have wowed me. This one, left me hard and cold.. Oh wait, that WAS the bagel. I cannot recommend Laurel Street. I will not sugar coat this review. This is no place to go to for a satisfying breakfast sandwich, or a beautiful bagel. Nope, my review of a glorious bagel stop will be forthcoming, just not here, at Laurel Street Bakery. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, and 1 being the worse, this place ranks a "NOPE"!! read more

I drive by Laurel Street Bakery ALL the time, but they have weird hours and are really only open for breakfast and lunch. I finally decided I was going to give them a try for lunch - and I now have a new favorite in the rotation! I ordered the Gene on a croissant with Tomato Basil Soup - which was an extra $1 upcharge for the soup, totally worth it though if you enjoy tomato basil. The turkey was honey smoked and delicious, the veggies were super fresh and stacked. You can't go wrong with a turkey sandwich, but this was definitely one of the better ones I had. The croissant was also soft and buttery, and delicious. Inside, they had plenty a variety of baked goods and desserts. Indoor/outdoor seating available with hand sanitizer everywhere, but I took mine to-go. Will be back! read more

Apparently they have parking in the back, however, I like to hold up traffic and park on broad street . The place is small and narrow, and lightly staffed. The lady taking orders also handed us our food. We waited in line for about 5 minutes or so, however, it make be because it was Saturday late morning/early afternoon. There are a lot of people siting at a table working on laptops, so seating may be limited. We sat in the window and enjoyed the flowers and sipped water. I will say, to be a peak hipster bagel spot, one is required to have veggie or fruit infused water. But let's move onward and forward to the breakfast. I ordered a croissant with grilled salmon, scrambled egg (sin queso), and avocado. W O W. The grilled salmon was perfect, warm and moist. The eggs also cooked well and didn't need salt. But of course I added Tabasco. My friend and co-reviewer ordered a California bagel with egg, cream cheese, tomato and avocado. As a New Yorker, she said that it was "the best bagel sandwich she's had in New Orleans," (though it's important to note that she has only been here a few months). She suggests the garlic bagels as she loved the garlic chunks. We will definitely be back. read more

Such a delicious spot for coffee, breakfast, lunch, pastries, bagels, etc. I came the other day for breakfast and had an amazing bagel. I got cream cheese and strawberry jelly on a sesame bagel, and my boyfriend got bacon, egg, and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. We were both very happy with our orders! *TAKE OUT/DELIVERY REVIEW ONLY* My office ordered breakfast from here for one of our meetings. We had it delivered. Sadly, I forgot to take some pictures, but it was all pretty good. We all mostly ordered the bagel breakfast sandwiches (they have many varieties) and a couple people ordered the plates. I got the California sandwich. It was very good. I debated between that and the Brooklyn (that one looked good, too, and my coworker confirmed it after trying it.) Some people were a little disappointed because the sandwiches were cold by the time they were delivered to us, but they were still tasty. We will most likely order from here again in the future. This review is an average of two visits over the weekend: the first visit 1/5 and the second visit 5/5. First visit: we came here on a Friday morning looking for breakfast because we were staying at an Airbnb down the street. I was telling the barista (didn't get her name and she was are young, black heavyset lady) what I wanted to order, and she started blatantly laughing about how I was reading off my order. She said, " I've never heard anyone say it like that before." I thought it was very rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. We just stared at her and didn't react, until she composed herself and took down our order. Not to mention, there were other people around which made it embarrassing for me. What's worse, when I got my order of a bagel with spread it was completely burnt on the outside and the cream cheese was spread unevenly. This being one of my first experience in New Orleans made it very disheartening. 2nd visit: really nice, bubbly barista took the time to help us with our large order for 8 people. She gave us recommendations on breakfast sandwiches and bagel pairings, we even purchased a king cake which we've heard so much about! read more

You're a bakery? The soggy croissant says no. With an 8 am opening you'd think there would be enough time to stock the pastry cases with freshly baked goods But upon entry one is greeted by a motley selection of day-old slim pickings. Instead of risking stale scones my partner and I opted for breakfast sandwiches. The bagel on the lox sandwich was decent but the croissant on The Frenchie was spongy with no croissant qualities aside from its shape. With eyes closed I would have guessed it was cheap white bread. I was going to order iced tea but the clerk had to tilt the container forward to assist in decanting yesterday's remnants that had been sitting at room temperature all day and night. Hard pass, I won't be back. And if I accidentally go back due to amnesia I hope they kick me out! read more

My husband and I did take out from the bakery- we got an everything bagel, a cream cheese brownie, and a black bottom cupcake. The service was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. At first, the brownie and cupcake seemed a bit dry, but once we warmed them a little in the microwave they were great. It's probably a good thing Laurel has limited hours, as close as I am to it. At 8am to 1pm, they open too late for post-workout, and I have to hurry to get lunch, but I do. My first trip, I got the Brooklyn bagel (lox & cream cheese of course). I can't give you a New Yorker's perspective, but I enjoyed it. The first few bites lacked something, until I realized the capers weren't evenly distributed; once I fixed that I was much happier. A cranberry oat muffin also insisted on coming home with me, and it was fantastic! I went for lunch next and got a delicious Caprese sandwich and salad. The greens were fresh even after the trip home, and I loved the dressing. It's a tiny place, with maybe four tables, but they do a brisk business with locals, and the girl behind the counter couldn't be sweeter. read more

Came with a friend to grab some bagels and they were delicious! I ordered an Everything Bagel with Sundried Tomato cream cheese. It was chewy on the inside and toasted perfectly on the outside. We took home a Brown Bag Special, which includes a 1/2 dozen bagels of your choice and a 1/2 pint of cream cheese spread for $13. What an amazing deal! You can also get a full dozen of bagels and 2 different 1/2 pints of cream cheeses for $25. There is also some outdoor seating and off-street parking behind the building. I've heard rave reviews about Laurel Street Bakery and was there years ago when it was on Laurel Street. We crossed town this morning in search of reportedly excellent bagels and croissants. I think we got them on a bad day. The bagel were seriously under-proofed, wonky looking, not shiny at all, and gummy. Disappointing and sad. The croissants had not yet been baked for the day (at about 9:15am on a Sunday morning). I bought a piece of quiche as well, which looked beautiful but was a bit rubbery, not that soft custard decadence you crave in a quiche. I'm sure it was just a bad day for them but I have to give an honest review. I could have been more forgiving if there was some communication about any of it. My cafe au lait was good at least and it was very clean inside. read more

I've eaten breakfast here a million times but never wrote a review. I honestly enjoy this place but I order the same thing every time. Plain bagel with butter and jelly on both sides topped with bacon. Only a couple of times have I every changed my order to be different, but I really do love this place. Now that I'm back working in the area, they will see me again at least every other week! read more

I've been a fan of the original location for years. And I was really happy to see that they were opening a branch location on South Broad & Eve St. The grand opening was Monday. This location is looking to be a bit more than the original location, I think. While I just stopped in for pastries this morning (love their slices of banana bread), they also offer sandwiches and salads at lunch (see my photos) and I think a broader coffee service (says the non-coffee drinker). The space is open and airy with a little bit of an industrial feel. There were plenty of cafe tables inside...not sure about wifi. Parking is on the street and there is a small parking lot in back but the gate was closed this morning (and it looked full) when I drove past this mroning. I'll definitely be back by and can't wait to try the lunches! read more
