The Classic breakfast sandwich on Garlic Onion Bagel
Matthew W.

Want a delicious pastry, muffin, or bagel? This is the place for you. Super affordable and quick too. I have been coming here for breakfast because it is cheap and everything I've had here is delicious. I recommend the blueberry muffin, the mixed berry turnover, and I always see people getting a metric s*** ton of bagels and cream cheese--I despise cream cheese so I can't attest to it. Courtney (I believe is her name) is a super nice cashier/server that is always happy to help and obviously takes pride in how she conducts herself and her station. You should tip her for her hard work! Sidetip: Just because something is not on the display early in the morning doesn't mean they don't have it. Seemingly LGBT+ friendly and more spacious than it looks on the outside. WiFi was great.

Great service. Comfortable, inviting atmosphere. Decent bagels. Solid cup of coffee. Mediocre food. Fair prices. The brioche French toast was pretty good, topped with plenty of very average bacon. The fruit cup was a pleasant surprise, but overall, not a breakfast to remember.

Delicious bakery goods fro bagels to croissants. Had the Everything bagel breakfast sandwich with sun dried tomato spread and avocado- delish! Croissant breakfast sandwich with egg/cheese- delicious! Their bagels are awesome, toasty crispy and chewy - the best! Coffee teas and other hot and cold beverages, lunch menu includes many salads and sandwiches. Service was awesome, friendly and the best!

Bought their Nutella King Cake this past weekend! It was so good. Placing an order online for it was super easy. I want to go back to try their savory items.

Microwaved refrigerated thawed and at some point in the distant past presumed baked chemically 'blueberry muffin'
Drew W.

This place is disgusting! I stopped in to get a blueberry muffin. It was mid morning and there were two blueberry muffins left on a platter that probably held a dozen when full. Got to the car to find it was cold. Not cool or no longer warm, but out of a refrigerator after probably having been frozen cold. I walked back in and pointed out it was cold. The clerk acted as if I should have known that and then took it and gleefully told me she'd heat it up in the microwave as if this is a normal behavior. She then handed it back microwaved. I asked her when the muffins were made at this...ya know...bakery. She told me (again as if there were nothing wrong with her statement) that they are made the day before...not that THOSE WERE made the day before but that THEY ARE (as in all their muffins always) made the day before!!! Back in the car I took one bite of my nukes days old leftover muffin. It was disgusting. Tasted like chemicals. Had a texture that made you wish for even gas station muffins, and was wholly inedible. It went into the trash which is where this sad joke of a bakery belongs. Save your time and money and just buy frozen factory made faux fresh bakery items from Walmart or Rouse's. They're sadly better and fresher. To the business owner: do the right thing! Laziness is a hell of a bad business model despite how common it is around New Orleans these days! You know better. Your customers deserve better. And, you should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourselves.

Cute morning/lunch spot that is open until 2pm to help kickstart your day (no matter if you're a morning or early-afternoon bird gets the worm). They make a lot of their own baked goods including their signature bagels. If you prefer something with more substance they have a full menu available and I recommend their french toast. It's so good! Plenty of seating that stretches down and outlets.

So glad they're reopened! This place has upped their game. The quiche option is always vegetarian, so I can count on it when I can't decide what to eat. Awesome cream cheese flavors too; I got the shallot, but will try olive pimento next time. The lattes are strong and extra shots are cheap. Service is greatly improved and the space is bigger than you first think- just take a peek around the corner. Plenty of parking on the side and around back.

The classic on a croissant with bacon and the frenchie on a bagel

Very cute place to grab coffee and breakfast! Easy menu with lovely staff. Very quiet environment. Only open from 7am-1pm so get there early! Indoor seating if you would like to dine in, food is brought to you at your table.

Up close of the gene

I drive by Laurel Street Bakery ALL the time, but they have weird hours and are really only open for breakfast and lunch. I finally decided I was going to give them a try for lunch - and I now have a new favorite in the rotation! I ordered the Gene on a croissant with Tomato Basil Soup - which was an extra $1 upcharge for the soup, totally worth it though if you enjoy tomato basil. The turkey was honey smoked and delicious, the veggies were super fresh and stacked. You can't go wrong with a turkey sandwich, but this was definitely one of the better ones I had. The croissant was also soft and buttery, and delicious. Inside, they had plenty a variety of baked goods and desserts. Indoor/outdoor seating available with hand sanitizer everywhere, but I took mine to-go. Will be back!

Apparently they have parking in the back, however, I like to hold up traffic and park on broad street . The place is small and narrow, and lightly staffed. The lady taking orders also handed us our food. We waited in line for about 5 minutes or so, however, it make be because it was Saturday late morning/early afternoon. There are a lot of people siting at a table working on laptops, so seating may be limited. We sat in the window and enjoyed the flowers and sipped water. I will say, to be a peak hipster bagel spot, one is required to have veggie or fruit infused water. But let's move onward and forward to the breakfast. I ordered a croissant with grilled salmon, scrambled egg (sin queso), and avocado. W O W. The grilled salmon was perfect, warm and moist. The eggs also cooked well and didn't need salt. But of course I added Tabasco. My friend and co-reviewer ordered a California bagel with egg, cream cheese, tomato and avocado. As a New Yorker, she said that it was "the best bagel sandwich she's had in New Orleans," (though it's important to note that she has only been here a few months). She suggests the garlic bagels as she loved the garlic chunks. We will definitely be back.

Everything is made from scratch (except the bread, which they source locally), and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the Surf & Turf and the James Brown. The Surf & Turf gives you get the best of both worlds (shout out to Hannah Montana). Look it up kids. You get the slow-cooked roast beef with gravy plus fresh Gulf shrimp. Shut the front door! The James Brown is just as incredible: juicy BBQ beef, pepper jack cheese, fried shrimp, and a hot sauce mayo. Bring napkins - you'll need them. Pro tip: go with a group and order a few different po'boys to share. You'll want to try everything. You made it to the end, so here we go. I feel like gate keeping (look it up old-timers), but I'm going to be generous because I love y'all. In order to skip the line, go to the bar area and find a high top or seat at the bar. A seat always opens up quickly. It never fails. You can order from the bartender and the service is top notch. Cheers y'all!

The cheese fries are a sad shame. It's just melted cheddar that immediately solidifies on regular fries and gets super greasy. The fried pickles were good. The grilled chicken poor boy wasn't it - it was bland. The gumbo was good but quite watery - not many ingredients. Very little rice. Not pictured - the cole slaw was really bland. The potato salad was the best one. Husband enjoyed the fried shrimp. The roast beef tasted like cat food - terrible texture. The merch is super overpriced ($25 for a dog toy? Out of a vending machine!) The bathrooms were air conditioned and clean.

Everything was disrespectfully delicious. Every bite had us questioning our life choices in the best way. By the end of the meal, we were all sleepy and completely defeated by how good the food was. The staff was on point, courteous, and polite. Our food came out hot, fast, and perfectly plated with consistency that never misses. My only small complaint is that the sweet potato habanero sauce isn't as thick as it used to be. We ordered the black-eyed pea chili and the muffuletta, and the sandwich completely stole the show. The bread was perfectly soft, and you can really taste the difference in quality with their in-house meats. The olive salad tied the whole thing together, complementing the rich, savory flavors perfectly. That being said, the space gets extremely crowded on busy days. It's tight enough that you'll likely have people bumping into your chair or brushing past you while you eat and walk through the dining room. The biggest downside was the service at the counter. The line to the cashiers was very disorganized. Instead of calling the next person in line, one cashier was pulling people up at random, which made the ordering process frustrating. Overall, the food is fantastic, but be prepared for chaotic crowds and a messy ordering system during peak hours.
