Mixed general experience! Dr Byrne, needs to slow down when caring for her patients. Always, rushing through the exam, and very little time to explain before, during and after procedure or exams. My husband was scheduled for an appointment that he never confirm or knew what the appointment was about it? He know that he will have a biopsy done on the 19th of the month and when he got the test alert about an appointment for next day at 10:45 am, he decided to check with the office about that appointment. Surprisely! The appointment was for the biopsy. He told tne MA that he was not prepare for the biopsy ( didn't stop his vitamins, supplements, medicines, took any antibiotics, nor even got the prescription filled or notified by the pharmacy of any antibiotics, enema, etc), she took the authority to tell him " NO problem, you can run to the pharmacy, start taking the antibiotics today grab an enema and get that done, you can come in morning for your biopsy "...he express his worries about not a good prep or decision and he didn't feel comfortable not having stopped any vitamins or supplements he has been taking. She keep encouraging him about having the biopsy. He finally got worry and told her, we will need to reschedule or speak to the doctor and she says " No problem, we can reschedule but you will be charged a $100 NO show as per our policy ". She was more worry about the $100 charge than listen to his worries, at that point, she never offer to have the doctor call him, sort things out, clarification of anything else just. " we are small practice and that is our policy ". As a Medical Assistant, she was out.of scope, making decisions for the doctor, in my opinion and she never tried to make sure my husband's concerns were answered. He called off the biopsy and told her to cancel! She just replied " Okay ", I told her to have the doctor give us a call to clarify things and make a decisions but we haven't heard from a busy Dr Byrne, yet. They are more concern of the $100 NO Show or cancelation because it was not done exactly 24 hrs ago prior to the appointment. ( my husband was three hours late for his phone cancelation). He had all the intention in having the biopsy but rushing the way the MA was coaching him, it was very scary. Sorry, we will be looking for another Urologist soon. read more

Dr. Byrne has done a good job of helping me with my UTI's and ongoing infections, and that's the most important thing at the end of the day. But I do have a frustration: During the past few months I had an office visit and, just minutes after our 'visit' ended I wanted to ask a follow-up question (it is sometimes hard to think of everything during the office visit and, oftentimes a patient has a follow-up question that emerges as a direct result of the office visit). I asked a member of her staff to tell Dr. Byrne that I had a question and not only did she not come back to me to answer it, but when I saw her walking toward another room before I left the office she purposely ignored me. I get that there are 'permanent patients' who ask a string of non-stop questions, and the doctor's time is valuable. But, in my view, to be a top notch doctor there has to be some reasonable flexiblity in such situations, and it bothers me that I had to schedule another appointment just to answer what I considered to be a simple, quick follow-up question from the appointment. read more

Dr Byrne does not have time for her patients. Don't bother scheduling because you will only leave frustrated like I was. I called to schedule an exam for a follow up on a past visit. I wanted to schedule surgery as she suggested before, so wanted to see the progression of my concern with an exam. My appt was at 1:15pm, the Dr Byrne finally walked in at 2:00pm. She was in there for 2 minutes and we discussed what we already knew. I asked her if she was going to give me the exam And she said oh no, you'll have to get on a "waiting list" for that as she is walking out the room. I had no opportunity to ask her any of the questions that I was wanting to ask. All she could say was she's the only doctor there and didn't I see the line? Out the door before I could say another word. Very frustrating and a total waste of $50 co-pay. Maybe you should schedule less patients so you have time for the ones you do schedule. I waited two months for that appointment and got two minutes. Unacceptable. As you can see in the reviews, I am not the first person to get this kind of treatment. I'm not saying you might be a great doctor, but this is unacceptable to rush and treat patients like this. read more

Dr Byrne seems knowledgeable but she doesn't respond to patients who have an issue after they are seen in her office. My husband got an infection from a procedure she did in her office and began to run a high fever. I called her office and she did not respond. She doesn't even call the patient back. This shows me she doesn't care much about her patients. Very disappointed in this doctor and her staff. We did not go back to her. We found another urologist who thinks about the patient. read more

Dr Byrne seems to care more about making money than taking care of patients. I was in a lot of pain due to a lead either having somehow shifted or been initially misplaced. Unfortunately it was the weekend, but I was advised to contact Dr Byrne. She got back to me quickly, but repeatedly said this was not an emergency and there was nothing to do. She advised me to call first thing Monday to get in. When I called, I was advised that she could see me, but I would first have to pay a $100 fee for use of the emergency line over the weekend. Although very upset, I agreed so I could get the medical help needed to alleviate my pain. She continued to say it was not an emergency even when extracting the lead demonstrated the amount of pain I had been experiencing. On what planet is it considered acceptable medical practice to dismiss a patient's pain?? She is always in a rush and displays no compassion. This is the first time I have ever written a review of a doctor. But I have to let others know that the experience my husband had with her was one of the worst experiences. We went to Dr. Byrne based on what appeared to be a superb resume, but we should have done a more detailed check. Her bedside manner is awful - it seemed sometimes like she didn't even remember the details about my husband and his condition. The communication was so bad - and then, if you read the case notes in the portal, they provide details about conversations and information that was not shared or communicated - I felt it was actually almost fraudelent! It got to the point that my husband no longer even wanted to go for any follow-ups, it was creating more stress for him and he was already dealing with cancer. Find another doctor. Find someone that is compassionate and takes the time to get to know you and your condition. Find someone that cares. That person is NOT Dr. Lauren Byrne. read more

Took my elderly mom in to see Dr. Lauren Byrne due to a chronic issue with bladder retention and constant UTIs. Thought she would be a good choice for a second opinion due to her bio. "Dr. Byrne's training, family background with cancer and medical illnesses, and experience with challenges resulting from pregnancy allow her to treat patients with empathy and respect for their concerns. She enjoys establishing a connection with patients while ensuring they understand their diagnosis, as patient knowledge is critical to the informed decision making process that surrounds how Dr. Byrne cares for patients." However, we found out all to quickly that Dr. Byrne was definitely not a good choice. We never met the doctor described in the bio, but instead met a urologist that spent very little time with the patient, never touched or examined the patient, ordered tests to be done, spoke to my elderly mom 86.5 years old assuming she could follow what she was saying and that she understood. Dr. Byrne created great confusion by coming into the patient room speedily and leaving just as speedily as she came in. Due to a lack of establishing a connection with my mom, spending a short time with my mom 2-6 minutes on visits we felt disrespected and that my mom's bladder retention issue was not being addressed in a caring way. In fact, on my mom's first visit Dr. Byrne on her way out of the patient room door took my mom off her 90 day trial antibiotic and 5 days later my mom had a UTI. Then a second UTI with a new bacteria and of course a need for another antibiotic to treat that specific bacteria. Despite not receiving results of my mom's kidney scan done on 9-17-24 (just over two weeks after the scan) we did acquire a copy ahead of our visit so we could be prepared with questions etc. and be knowledgeable before our last visit 10-4-24 with Dr. Byrne. Kidney scan results were not shown or provided to us but Dr. Byrne talked over her computer sharing results vaguely around us. Needless to say it was total confusion for my mom. Not all results were shared thoroughly such as the urine now in mom's ureter and left kidney. Dr. Byrne was put off by our questions and that we had researched and came in with actual questions to ask. I think the bio said "ensuring they understand their diagnosis, as patient knowledge is critical to the informed decision making process that surrounds how Dr. Byrne cares for patients." She felt put off that "we know more than the urologist".? Dr. Byrne speedily left the room now that we had the critical knowledge she confusingly presented so we could make an informed decision that would surround how she cares for my elderly mom. There are many other red flags with Dr. Byrne, but we will spare you the many other details and say we did not feel respected and did not feel listened to. Dr. Byrne explained things her way with a plan somewhere in the back of her mind?, She has a significant lack of skills when working with elderly patients, and her speed or need to rush causes confusion, carelessness, and the lack of importance for the patient. Her lack of emotion is definitely a zero. Dr. Byrne stated we could get a second opinion, but we did not have the heart to say you are our second opinion, but you are our first strike. We give you a perfect round zero and do not recommend you to others most specifically the elderly population. If you reread your bio and you improve by working on those skills you could be a "Top Doc". Top Docs have their speciality skills but most importantly are caring, connecting, and provide quality patient centered care. Dr. Byrne please take this feedback seriously, reread your bio and work on improving to provide quality patient centered care. read more

I was looking for a Urologist in the Chandler area and based on review ratings, I called and made an appointment with Dr Byrne and Desert Sky Urology. I was told I would receive a calendar event and their new patient package via email. Never received either. Knowing that the appointment was coming up, I called the office to find out the date of the appointment as well as request the new patient package. No one answers the phone. I left two messages. At 4:30pm the same day, a female called me back. She told me that the appointment was the next day at 8:30. When I told her the circumstances and asked her is there was a later appointment she said she had a 10:45 open. Then she told me there would be a fee to change the appointment. Wa wa WHAT?!!! A fee to move the appointment 2 hours 15 minutes? She said because it was within 24 hours of the appointment there would be a fee. I explained to her I did call within the 24 hours, but they don't answer the their phones so I left messages. At first, she told me that I left the message at 6:05am. "Why would I call a doctor's office at 6am in the morning"? is what I asked her. "I am not even out of bed at 6am". In an unprofessional manner, she put me on hold, came back, hold again, wait........ wait........wait...... and then back again only to tell me that her manager said there will be a fee. I then asked her if she minded if I brought in a form that held the doctor to my appointment time, +-15 minutes? If the doctor is late by 15 minutes, they owe me a Co-pay. She said they were the provider and do not have to be on time. Great Customer Service you got there! I then asked her if there was a fee for canceling the appointment. She said yes. How are you going to collect the fee since I am a new patient and they have no info on me. Their solution, if I try to make an appointment in the future they will collect it then. LOL. I told her that will never happen since I will NOT be calling for another appointment. How hard is it to put the mouse on my 8:30 appointment, drag it to the 10:45 slot and release the mouse. Done! This requires a fee? Total BS!!!! The clinics are not making as much money thru insurance claims so they have to find another revenue source and that revenue source is you and me. read more

She is flat out terrible. I have had urological issues on and off my entire life. Most issues due to stress and now I am aging. Had a urolift done not even two years ago. I go in, first "get to know me" visit was less than 10 minutes. Told me Urolift is now having issues (2-3% per year issue rate seems VERY acceptable to me). Scheduled my for a cystoscopy. Told her I had it once before and it really hurt. She said remind me of that. Ummmm I just did. Day of the procedure, pain was unreal. I came off the table. She said Urolift has failed and I needed another procedure. Then said dont worry I will take good care of you, and walked out the door. Next call I get is about the surgery. Funny thing is after my first 10 minute meeting, I got an email with the new procedure details in it. No this is what I think, this might be a direction, but out of the gate she knew what she wanted to do. Again, no how are you feeling, tell me what is happening etc. 10 minutes, painful procedure, now a new surgery. I am convinced urologist learn a procedure, then push it over and over again to get something in return, though I dont know what that could be. Stay away from her. How she gets such high ratings is beyond me. Be your own advocate and have your own voice. This women needs to be reported for what she puts some patience through. read more

First, the staff is horrible. Absolutely no regard to patients' health. Can't get any body to answer the phone. You have to leave a message and hope someone will call you back. If they do call back, there is a language issue from the start. I can't begin to explain all the issues I have had with setting/changing appointments, having prescriptions renewed and getting anyone to listen to what I'm saying. I was originally given a recommendation from one of my other doctors for prostrate issues. After the first appointment it seemed that this doctor and office staff will work out. My first Urologist was absolutely lost. Suggested surgery without any discussion as to why. That's another story for another time. But it shows my desire to find a doctor that cared. Dr. Bryne ordered a test that would help decide which procedure would be best for me. The other doctor did not. The test results indicated that I was a good candidate for a Urolift. The day of procedure I had no idea of the pain. The staff never told me just how painful it would be. When the staff started the procedure there was a lot of blood and pain. One of the nurses stated that I made a mess of the room with all the blood spilled to the floor. It was said in any anything but kind. I made of mess because I was bleeding! Shame on my body. When Dr. Bryne came into the room to do the actual procedure I complained of the pain and concern over the amount of blood. All she said is it will be over in a few minutes. Well, sure would help if I was given something to lessen the pain. I can't explain the amount of pain I endured. Once she was done that was the last time I saw here until the follow-up appointment. At the follow-up appointment I again brought up the issue of pain and my concern over the amount of blood I lost. All I got was there is a lot a blood vessels around the prostrate and that stuff happens. Not much caring in her voice of mannerisms. The other major issues are I had with Dr. Byrne was over my medication. I had to have so many tests and each test included a follow-up appointment that lasted less than 5 minutes. This becomes a pattern with her. The more appointments the better for her business. Can't discuss multiple issues at any one appointment. You need to make another appointment for each health issue I wanted to discuss. Back to medication. I wanted to get the prescription for 90 days, but she would only write it for 30 days. This was constant battle with her and her staff. Remember that necessary appointments? 30 day supply would mean another appointment. During a CT scan it was discovered that I had a kidney stone. I made an appointment to discuss how and when this could be taken care of. After the appointment I was told that a scheduler would call to set up the date and time for the surgery. After almost three weeks I called the office to see what was taking so long to schedule this surgery. I had to leave a message, because no one picks up the phone. Two days later I get a call from the scheduler and was given a date and time. OK so far. The I was told that I had to Gilbert Mercy Hospital for labs, x-rays and EKG. That would mean I would have to drive an hour to the hospital and more than likely have to spend the entire day getting of this done. I asked why I just can't get the labs, x-ray and EKG done in Maricopa? The scheduler was forceful in stating that is what the doctor ordered. OK, there was some language challenges with scheduler, but it got out of hand very quickly. I told the scheduler that I was not going to drive to Gilbert for things I can take care of here in town. I asked that she email me the scripts for labs, x-ray and EKG. I called back after a week asking why I had not received the scripts. She took that as I was canceling the surgery. So, I had to start all over again on scheduling the surgery and again trying to get some to understand that labs for the hospital and Sonora Quest would be the same. The x-ray for the hospital and Sinem Med would be the same and that the EKG from my PCP would be the same as from the hospital. It took about a week to get these scrips and there was no script for the x-ray. I later found that that was optional. But I had to set another appointment to go over the procedure with Dr. Bryne. I thought we had that covered in the beginning? I also brought up the fact that my medication was out, and I need to have a renewal. I was told that need to have another appointment for that prescription. I stated the fact that I was coming in for my surgery appointment in less than a week and I would discuss then. Well, this didn't happen. After the 3-minute consult on the surgery Dr. Byrne started to leave. I asked about my medication and without a thought she stated that another appointment would be necessary. The next day I cancelled my surgery, next follow-up appointment. I asked for a referral from my PCP and will see how things work out. read more

Had an appointment with my primary doctor and had blood in my urine so they referred me to Desert Sky Urology. Got there and I did not realize they are paperless company and it took 30 mins to find the right info on my phone so I could sign up for the patient portal. I was so mad as this appointment that it took longer than expected and they could care less. Also all they had me do is pee in a cup and then they wanted to schedule another appt for ultra sound of the kidney and another separate appointment to look inside my bladder. So I had to pay $35 to pee in a cup and make two seperate appointments to they can take my money. See ya.....you just lost a patient. read more

Awful. Ditto to what Ashley wrote below. Said "kidney stones don't hurt in the kidney" only when they travel...and it was prob another issue. I'm like did you read the CT scan ? ER is apparently dumb (not). Was friendly for a 1/2 min, then was apparently not listening, said "come with me" and I never saw her again. 3 min tops, maybe? Right then made me have a bladder scan, like why? I'm 37. And nurse "oh ya looks good" ...no shit. Then ordered huge tests for me to do, and I said why am I doing tests looking in my bladder with zero issues there? No pain. Nothing. This is kidney stone! She couldn't be bothered to spend any time with me, because kidney stones must be a waste of her time, and you need to have cancer or massive kidney / bladder issues. My function is great and that was checked, and Nephrologist checks that. Ultimately don't waste your time here unless you have massive atypical issues that might be more interesting to her. Stones? Find another provider who at least tries to care or have decent patient care and bedside manner ...who cares and will look at the tests you have done to determine a plan of attack, even if it's watch and wait, etc. I am very knowledgeable about medicine and health as well, and maybe she doesn't like that? She wouldn't know that though because she only spent 3 min and did a phenomenal disappearing act. Can't wait for my insurance bill, and continue my off and on uncomfortableness while I find another Urologist. Why are they all crappy and odd? My primary referred me and he won't be sending any more patients to her. He's like wtf? To others like me, hang in there and please post when you found a good one! read more

I really like Dr. Byrne and her staff for their bedside manner. I received my sling and have had great improvements in that area... I now have bladder control!! Life changing, especially when you are a mom in your 30s... too young for those issues! Thanks childbirth... However, they dismissed the repeated blood in urine (for over a year) and chronic, debilitating pain that felt like my insides were being torn. I even told her that when I peed, I had horrible pain and thought it was the sling. She told me it wasn't and basically shrugged her shoulders since my bladder empties itself well now. My hematologist asked me if I had ever been checked out for kidney stones... no, Dr. Byrne stopped at my bladder and said everything looks good. She dismissed my pain to be GI related and didn't look further up. I was referred to a Mayo Urologist... Turns out, I DO have kidney stones. I have unnecessarily suffered a ton of pain because of Dr. Byrne's premature dismissal. I'm also starting to have worse control over my bladder... not sure if that is connected to kidney stones or what; I'll find out soon through my Mayo Urologist. read more

Never received a called back. Ended up in ER due to complications. Called again and left a message for the medical assistant, no call back. Left another message for a manager, no call back. Four calls, no response. Appointments always rushed. Seek care elsewhere. read more

Very frustrating experience. I went to Dr. Byrne for help with a chronic problem that kept me going to Urgent Care with recurring infections. She prescribed Uribel to try to help prevent them, but they did nothing, nor did they ever touch my pain. I called the office for help on a Friday, and was told to come to the office on Monday for a culture, and to take an over the counter AZO the meantime. I'm sorry, but my pain was so severe I was going to have to go to Urgent Care AGAIN. There was no way I could even stand or walk, let alone wait an entire weekend for help. I have been so desperate for help, and doing everything to prevent this from happening, and ended up in exactly the same situation I started in. I'm losing my insurance shortly and am absolutely devastated. My advice is to find a different urologist. read more

Worst place ever. Dr Bryne had to reschedule my first appt 3 times and then once I finally get into see her she ordered a scan due to reoccurring UTI"s. When I was brought back to discuss my results she did some procedure on me were she put a camera up to my bladder and injected saline I can't begin to tell you the level of pain and I had to drive myself and my daughter home. She then tells me I'll need surgery to place a stent I explain I am a cancer survivor of head and neck and she should know this but I have a airway issue. I leave in pain and a day later try 3 days to call her back with questions she refuses the only way I can get my questions answered is by making appt and of course paying a co pay in which I refused to pay The lady at the front desk said she would speak with office manager to try to waive my co pay. It is almost as if Michelle L (who reviewed 9 days ago) wrote my own personal experience with Dr Byrne. As I'm writing this, I am 13 mins into being on hold to just pay my bill. It's very typical, when you call here, to be placed on hold for long periods of time and then be disconnected eventually. But I digress. I made my appointment a few months ago for reoccurring UTIs . I got in to the exam room and was met by Dr B's assistant who is from New York. Truthfully, shes the best part of the entire office. Shes very sweet and kind, but she is at the mercy of the dr and has to keep running around like a mad woman. Dr B came in and asked all the same questions she asked every other reviewer, she said I needed some sort of additional test/procedure and suddenly jumped up and told me to follow her. I assumed we were going to another room to perform the test but she left me right by the checkout, not knowing what was even going on. She didnt say goodbye or anything else. I looked at the employee at the desk and asked what was going on. She said I needed to checkout and schedule the procedure. Huh?! I wasnt asked if I had any questions or even explained what the next step was. It was very confusing. So, I realized that the dr had left to hurry along to her next patient and all questions were now left unasked. It was weird, to say the least. I did manage to catch the assistant walking by and ask one of my questions, but didnt want to keep her and ask the rest out in the open hallway. I had the procedure done a couple of weeks ago and was hoping the bedside manner was a fluke. Nope. Dr B came in hurriedly performed the procedure and left as rapidly as last time. Again, odd. I really felt like just a $ sign to her. I dont even think she would recognize her patients faces if it was told to her that they are her patients. She showed zero interest in my life or health or anything. Not even a moment of small talk, like "How are you?" I doubt that anyone in the office really cares about any of these reviews because if they did, they would have made changes to the things that people have been complaining about for quite some time now. So I'm not writing this, expecting change, but I am writing to let others know my experience. I'm not saying dont go to this office, because it may be convenient for you or you might prefer a female urologist (like I do and they are rare), I'm just saying know what you are getting into before going, so you dont have high expectations. read more

You can do a teleconference or come into the office but she will not call you because she cannot charge you I am sending my files somewhere else. I will agree with many of these reviews. I have been in the medical field for over 30 years and I have never dealt with such an inept office staff. It took me 2 days to even get an appointment. Finally after getting an appointment and giving them my personal and insurance information, I received a call the day before saying that I do not have insurance. I told them yes I did and they said they could not verify it. Well of course not if you didn't write down the correct subscriber ID. I go to the appointment, which by the way was just for a surgery consult, as a co-surgeon following a procedure by my gynecologist, and I am given a cup for a urine sample. I told the girl at the front desk that this appointment was just for a consult. She tells me well we still need a sample. I grab the cup and tell her that my name is spelled wrong. Meanwhile, a patient checking in next to me is upset because apparently they tried to contact her via phone and told her that her number was disconnected. She is yelling at them saying that she has had the same number for the past 10 years. They had put it in their system incorrectly. Fast forward filling out 6 pages of information I get called in and am put in a room and asked how tall are you, how much do you weigh. No vitals were taken. She says lay down on the table so I can do a scan of your bladder. 2 seconds later she hands me a paper towel and says you can wipe off and the doctor will be right in. 10 minutes later Dr. Bryne walks in and says so why are you here. (I'm thinking to myself, well if you were a good doctor, you would have read the information that you had requested me to fill out on these 6 pages and would have already known). I tell her and she say ok. Let's go outside. She hands be a pamphlet and says talk to the surgery scheduler. I'm standing in a long hallway and said, who? She goes and knocks on a door and says, Oh I guess she's not here. I'll have her call you but you can go schedule this procedure at the front desk that will need to be done first. I'm just standing there shaking my head thinking what in the heck is going on! I am absolutely clueless. Needless to say, I told them that I will not be coming back. I am still shaking my head wondering what the heck just happened. I would highly recommend seeking another urologist. read more

Dr. Byrne is kind and she listens to her patients. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

She was in the room for less than a minute. She told Me to follow her, she lead me to the checkout counter after grabbing a couple brochures. I still had all my initial paper work in my hands, I wasn't able to talk with her about the horrible pain I've been in for weeks. She had a checkout staff member schedule me for a ultrasound and a cystoscopy. I've had a cysto before and I was in so much pain for a week after and was urinating blood (I was also sedated for the first one). I had asked to be sedated for this one too, and her staff said she doesn't do that and the procedure only takes 5 minutes. She also said she wants me awake during the procedure because it's my time to ask any questions and if I had more questions, I would need to schedule an appointment for a later time. The medical assistant also told me all my pain and bleeding with the first one came from the anesthesia. I then let her know I am an ICU nurse who recovers pts from anesthesia very often and I know that she wasn't being truthful. She changed her whole story around and said she think I should bring my husband with me to ask questions because I'm an obviously anxious person (which I I'm not, I've just been hurting for weeks and don't want to be in more pain). I asked if I could speak with her again, they said I couldnt. She also wrote a prescription for me that helps with urinary pain. I am currently going through fertility treatments and asked if it was safe for pregnancy. Dr. Byrne said "Probably, I'm sure it's fine, but you can call your clinic and ask them". After speaking with a pharmacist, I was told it is not safe. BEWARE of this provider. As a patient, you need to be an advocate for your own care. You do not need to be mistreated to receive help. Do not go to this provider, she will not help you. Also educate yourself about procedures before allowing her to complete them on you. Just because she doesn't have the time to be present in your care, doesn't mean you should go through more pain. I came out of her office in tears, this pain was impacting all parts of my life and all she did was make me fell like I had no hope. I've recently found another provider who is amazing. I wish I had read the reviews for Dr. Byrne before I made my appointment. At my 5 minute appointment I was given a months worth of sample medication at 50 mg per dose. It worked well. When I picked up my 90 day prescription from my pharmacy it was for 25 mg per dose. Taking half the dose did nothing. I called and left a message that an error had been made expecting a call back and the dose corrected. I called back after two days and left a second message this time certain that I would receive a call. When I called back I was told that the doctor wanted to see if the 25 mg would work. Are you kidding me? My costly prescription for a 90 day supply became a 45 days supply since I had to take two pills each day. I was getting close to running out so I called again and this time was told that my message would be marked as urgent. Heard nothing. My pharmacist called Dr. Byrne's office twice and finally was able to get the medication at the correct dose. I will never go back or recommend Dr. Byrne to anyone. She is uncaring, unprofessional, and her office staff is a joke. read more

If I could give Dr. Byrne a zero I would. I travel from California each year to have my annual check up. Each year the office screws up my appointment time and day. I always call to confirm my appointment and the staff will tell me I'm not in their system and we do this little dance then the staff squeezes me in for a rushed appointment. This has happened 3-times. This is the last time. When I finally get in to the exam room the Doctor is always rushed and does this flash exam that doesn't accomplish anything other than wasting her time and mine, not to mention, I'm rushed back to the office counter so I can pay the bill. Worst experience with a Doctor. Office dirty! Procedure chair sets open to entrance door where people are walking in and out so your privates are no longer. Nurses wear gloves before entering room (ex. door handle, and who knows what else). Dr. Byrne has horrible bed side manner. She doesn't care, and doesn't care if she is causing pain and she acts like she is inconvenienced by ANY questions. She interrupts and doesn't get info needed for resolving issue. My gyno who referred me was very disappointed that she didn't look further. I had to go to a different Dr. to get answers. The office staff and their handling of their paperless system is ridiculous. Wrong name, wrong spelling, multiple tries to access system in order to fill out documents that they say no longer exists without accessing their system. I am young enough to be tech savvy enough to know that their system sucks. I can only imagine what a less tech savvy person would be dealing with in this regard. read more

Dr Byrne was so helpful to us with my mother in law. She showed so much compassion for her and our family after my mother in law was misdiagnosed and mistreated for her kidney stones. She helped us to get her the right treatment and is now back to herself after years of infection and depression. Dr Byrne is very knowledgeable and skilled at what she does. read more

Dr. Byrne is an excellent doctor with all the right skills, including a very good bed side manner. I treated with her for prostate cancer. I originally went in for another issue but because of her thoroughness and the ability to spot red flags in the exam she decided to do a cancer screening. The test wasn't much fun, but it showed the early stages of cancer. She gave me my options and told me the positives and negatives of each option. When I decided to have surgery she turned me over to her staff for preparation who also were very caring and professional. I spent 6 hours in what was supposed to be a 3 hours surgery. The prostate had become so enlarged that it had damaged the bladder and reconstruction was required. Because of that I spent 7 weeks with a catheter in me. If it hadn't of been for Dr. Byrne's attention to detail, the catheter would have been taken out too soon and I would have experienced a lot of unwanted leakage. Needless to say I am grateful that she was available to perform the surgery. I feel very lucky to have treated with such a professional, caring doctor as Dr. Byrne. I have never experienced a surgery as bad as this one! I do not believe that Dr Lauren Byrne has her patients best interest at heart. I was in extreme pain after the surgery on my urethral diverticulum condition and she refused to prescribe me any pain medication. She assured me that Tylenol & Iburprofen were enough to control my pain! A week after the surgery I had problems with the catheter and called her office right away. No one returned my call and I ended up in the ER to fix the problem that evening. I actually had to go to ER 3 times after my surgery due to the catheter becoming blocked. I can't even describe how painful it is when this happens. The last slap in my face is that she didn't even show up for my final appointment I was told to direct my questions to the nurse and they would call me back with answers. After my experience at Ironwood Urology, specifically with Dr. Lauren Byrne, I felt I had to write a review. I agree with Meagan S. I, too, wish I could zero stars. From the moment I walked into the office it was a very unpleasant experience. When I walked up to check in, the girl behind the desk said "name?" Not "hello" or "how are you" or any kind of pleasantry. Just "name"? Rude. Then, she asks me who my primary care doctor and pharmacy were. I had covered that on the phone when I made the appointment but apparently they don't communicate with each other in the office. Finally, she just hands me a clipboard with a stack of papers to fill out along with a specimen cup. Again, no words. When I just stood there she said she needed me to leave a urine sample and fill out the paperwork, that it didn't matter which order. Okay fine. A little hospitality would be nice. Once I was settled in the waiting room, I was called almost immediately. (That was ONE good thing - minimal wait time. However, looking back, it's clear they just wanted me in and out as fast as possible.) Back in the exam room, I was asked more about my medical history and then was again asked about my primary care doctor and pharmacy (3rd time now). No vitals were taken. When Dr. Bryne came in it was a whirlwind. She asked me the same basic questions everyone else had. When she asked me the main reason I was there I told her I was in extreme pain and that I have a history of bladder and kidney issues. She advised she wanted to do a cystoscopy as well as a kidney CT. She also asked me if I had high blood pressure. I told her I had just seen my cardiology the day prior, and my bp was very high. Again, no vitals were taken. In fact, she did not touch me once. Suddenly, she said "follow me". I thought we were going into another room for the cystoscopy but no, she led me to the check out desk! She was practically running to keep moving and I said "what about the pain???" As she continued to walk away she suggested looking for Avo (over the counter). Are you kidding me?? I have never felt so unimportant at a doctor's office in my entire life, and I've been to dozens and dozens of doctors. To make this experience even better (sarcasm) the girl who checked me out asked me AGAIN who my primary doctor and pharmacy were. UNBELIEVEABLE!! Worst experience ever. read more

Update to my last review. My situation got even worse..... the urinary tract infection I was told I didn't have. Not only did I have a UTI but because it was left untreated for days it turned into a full blown kidney infection. I went to my PCP when I became very ill and she couldn't believe I was treated this way. On top of that I've had three UTI'S since this whole ordeal and I'm almost 40 and I've never a UTI in my entire life until my experience at Ironwood Urology. read more

Dr Byrne is wonderful! I have been to her several times and she has always been very nice and accommodating. I had to get use to her staff. Very nice but very business like. I'm from the south where we like to visit while we check out!! Not here. Overall they are all very nice. I would recommend her to those looking for a urologist!! read more

I'm raising my review as Dr Bryne's has been more receptive. My daughter can go in anytime and leave urine sample, so she doesn't have to go to Urgent Care who seems to always mess up anyway and doesn't provide info back to Dr. She is very smart. If things keep looking up, I may try her out with other family members. I heard her coach receptionist on last visit in a nice and professional way. In general I don't understand why medical receptionists can be so bad across the medical professions. They chose the job and it's not that bad as far as physical exertion and isn't manual labor. Dr. Byrne is a great doctor! She has great bed side manners and explains to you step by step of what shes doing. The office staff is not the best. They always make you wait a long time before you get called back. But my overall experience with Dr. Byrne is very good. Im happy i chose her for my procedure and i highly recommend her. read more

I also would go with 0 stars....went to see Dr. B in order to get my prescription for allopurinol renewed. My previous urologist in WI had prescribed it because I had had uric acid stones. After the standard 5 minute visit with Dr. she ordered a raft of tests and a follow-up in several weeks. She couldn't wait to get out of the office. On follow-up visit she informs me that she does not prescribe - I would need to see a nephrologist. Could have told me that the first time. Wasted a lot of time and money on this rude person. Wish I had read the yelp reviews first. read more
