Cancer free for a few years. Looking for a new Urologist "just in case". And today was my first visit. Horrible: Dr Lin walked in the room, did not introduce himself. No hand shake or a "I see you are a new patient". He asked questioned quickly without any interest. He looked and focused much more on his tablet than on the patient. Right off the bat he wanted to start all these crazy testing.. I mentioned to him again I am here to established myself's new patient and just follow up on my PSA As soon as I mentioned this to him again, he said no follow up. Literally opened the door and walked out the door and stood in the hallway still on his tablet, waiting for me to leave the room. I still had questions for him and instead of him walking back into the room, he stood there in the hallway where everybody can hear the questions I had for him I felt unwelcome, I felt he believed he is a God, big ego for sure. I felt he did not like the color of my skin. He rushed me out of and pointed the way out. I was polite to the staff, answered questions as needed and I treat people the way I would like to be treated. Besides that, one staff member is super nice. The place well kept them clean lots of parking. It's a place I would definitely not go and never recommend in my life. I should've read this reviews before going there. read more

I feel like Dr. Lin has good "book knowledge" but lacks in so many other areas! I ended up in the hospital for 4 days with a complication after TURP surgery by him (that was not the problem). The problem was he never showed up to eveluate me, told the hospital just to send me home, would schedule procedures and never show up, and when he did show up on the last day to do a procdure, it was at a random time. The hospital started recording and documenting his conversations as he never followed through with what he said to them. It was so bad that the hospital doctor actually took over my care and "trumped" what Dr. Lin said to do on the phone Needless to say, I will never see Dr. Lin again. The new urologist said they heard that complaint about Dr. Lin a lot. read more

I would recommend Dr. Lin and his staff without reservation!!! I have been a patient of Dr. Lin since 2009, after seeing a small drop of blood in my urine. Long story short I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. We had caught it early and was Stage 0, bladder lining only with no muscle involvement, and slow growing. He discussed with me and my wife the treatment options. Dr Lin removed the tumor in outpatient surgery, and we decided to perform immunotherapy, instead of Chemotherapy as the treatment plan after surgery. Dr Lin explained to me everything we were doing along the way, with the surgery to remove, to the immunotherapy treatment process, and how it would affect me during and between each treatment. He also warned me that Bladder cancer tends to reoccur with the need to follow up frequently during the first few years. In my case it did reoccur four times up to 2014. Thank goodness I did what Dr. Lin suggested. I have since been cancer free every year since 2014, using immunotherapy with Dr. Lin and his office. Bladder Cancer can be a lifelong relationship with your doctor, and his staff. Having visited Dr. Lin and his staff more than 75 times since 2009 for scoping's (Cystoscopy), and Immunotherapy treatments, I have the following observations. Dr. Lin cares about his patients, staff, and maintaining his expertise in his chosen field, including causes and new medical science in treatments. I believe that I or any patient should educate ourselves on what is affecting our body, and the options available to us. Dr. Lin has always answered any questions I have concerning my treatment, checked into treatments I had read about, and we even discussed the possible reasons/causes that it developed in the first place. Since I have never smoked, a common cause of bladder cancer. I asked the hospital staff and nurses where the outpatient surgery was done about Dr. Lin, prior to having the surgery during prep workup. They held him in high regard for his abilities before/during and after surgery. He was quick and efficient in his work, and respectful of hospital staff, were several comments I heard. This carries through to office staff, and he does expect his staff to follow that example. In my case seeing the staff on each visit to the office they were always friendly, caring and efficient as well. I spent many visits with Dr. Lin's assistants performing the immunotherapy treatments, and they were always pleasant and answered any questions I may have or would get Dr. Lin to ask. I find the office welcoming, quick and efficient, and Dr. Lin an excellent Urologist! As I said at the beginning - I would highly recommend Dr. Lin and his staff, and I will continue to go to their office for my annual bladder scoping. read more

Came for a appointment hoping this would be the place that finally helps me with my issue I don't have insurance I am not able to get insurance so I paid out of pocket which was 200$ just for him to do a 2 min look and say I'm healthy while also scheduling me for another appointment that was going to cost me 500$ they did not mention any price of the other appointment apart from them saying you will just need to show up take the test and leave I drove 30 min just to get a price they did not mention this place is a joke a waste of time and money and because he already saw me I was unable to speak to him unless I paid another 200$ read more

I went to see Dr. Lin to discuss a urinary issue and he discussed the potential concerns that I was experiencing , once my appointment arrived and dr. Lin ran tests to further confirm my diagnosis. Dr Lin made suggestions that was better suited for my situation. Which involved a procedure. I elected to have the procedure and once it was completed I had huge improvement within a couple of weeks and things just kept improving. Dr. Lin was very detailed very thorough and confident in his ability. It's been over 6 months and I am only getting better. The urinary issue was resolved and I didn't and don't have any issues from the procedure. I am thankful for Dr Lin's correct diagnosis and treatment. His bed side manners were excellent in my opinion. Since the procedure the constant urgency and long standing at the urinal in the bathroom are over. So if you in the Gilbert Arizona area and you are experiencing urinary problems such as urgency, stopping, and starting getting up many times in the night. Came to see Dr Lin for a routine check up after a friend recommended him to me. He was close to the house and right off the freeway so it was perfect. I called yesterday and never imagined that I would be in to see him within 24 hours, but there was an opening today so I quickly took it. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about everything and I was actually in with the doctor within 10 minutes of arriving at the office. This is one business you don't want to visit, but when the needs arise, this is THE office you want to be at. This was my second visit to a urologist, the first being a much larger provider affiliated with Dignity Hospital. I felt like a rushed number there, not as a patient needing care. I cancelled further appointments and suffered for another year until my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Lin. Making a urology appointment is uncomfortable at best, yet the process at Sunrise Urology was smooth and the staff is extremely helpful. From the front desk, to billing, to the medical assistant (Nikki is utterly amazing!), you are treated with empathy, made comfortable, and provided with prompt and proper attention. Dr. Lin has great bedside manners, is an experienced urologist (trust me, you want someone that has done these procedures a few thousand times) and explains options carefully. I was having serious urinary problems for the last year. I went to several different doctors seeking help but could get small to no relief. A good friend recommended sunrise, urology and Dr. Lin!! Other urologist were 3 weeks to a month out and I know I did not have that much time before permanent damage could be done!! The young lady that answered the phone must have heard the desperation in my voice and got me in that very Afternoon!! Dr Lin started with meditation for the prostate, but after two weeks found that it was not working!! He scheduled a surgical procedure and it changed my life!!! Dr. Lin was just ok. He is a bit smug and has poor bedside manner. I tolerated it. I then had a procedure ( lithotripsy) preformed by Dr Lin and the true nature of this Dr came to light. I woke up from procedure in a lot of pain. The nurse gave me two Tylenol and said that's all she could give me. My husband was driving me home and I started to get very sick from the intense pain I was feeling. I continued to spiral down with extreme pain when I arrived home. My husband contacted the office to get a message out to Dr Lin to contact him. Dr Lin finally called and wanted to speak with me. I could hardly talk because I was crying so bad. Dr Lin was abrupt and irritated. He said, "where is your pain, it doesn't make sense you are in pain." I explained to him what was going on and he reluctantly called in a prescription for Tylenol with codeine. I was appalled and shocked with how badly he treated me. The pain continued despite the prescription he prescribed. A few days later, I went back to office to have ureteral stent removed. Dr Lin came in and dismissed me, didn't ask how I was doing, just walked in and said, "you are fine, I will take out stent and you will be happy." He walked out after spending 2.5 seconds removing stent and then the excruciating bladder spasms started back up again. They didn't stop on the drive home and I started to vomit from the pain. We contacted Dr Lin again and when he called me back, he was so disgustingly rude and said he would write another prescription for a different medication, but informed me it would be the last time. Say what?? The last time??? For what? Oh my goodness. I asked him "why are you treating me like this? I told him to contact Walgreens and ask if I have EVER been prescribed pain medication. He would find out I do not take pain medications and I hardly take Tylenol or ibuprofen if o don't need to. Dr Lin treated me like I was a drug addict and faking my pain. This Dr treats you fine until you complain about not being ok. EVERYONE's body is different, we all have different pain and for a Dr to have so little empathy, compassion and respect for his patient is beyond unprofessional and inappropriate. It took weeks to finally feel better. The office still owes me money from September and they still haven't reimbursed me for over payment. This office takes your money even when your insurance pays them their money. read more

I had a vasectomy here by Dr Lin 3 months ago. I am now crippled with chronic pain. If I had known that this would ruin my life I would have never proceeded. And therein lies the problem. I made it without getting adequate information from Dr. Lin about the risks of extreme chronic PVPV (Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome). The pain is constant and excruciating. I can't move. I can barely walk. I don't sleep. I can't play with my kids. I can't be intimate. I spent Christmas week curled up on the couch in awful pain. And the pain continues. It hasn't gotten better. It is relentless. I am not sure if this was due to a botched surgery or some other factor, but it has been absolutely awful. Dr Lin either knows very little about PVPS or is not being honest and is pretending like it doesn't exist. If Dr Lin really does perform hundreds of vasectomies every year, it is his responsibility and ethical duty to disclose the risks and to learn how to help those who he cripples. He has offered no solutions and has not helped with answers and has not tried to find me a specialist to help me find someone who can help. That is inexcusable. These risks should have been discussed in detail and disclosed during my consult - before the surgery. I asked about potential complications before the procedure and PVPS was never even disclosed or discussed. The risk of chronic, life-altering pain is real and this absolutely must be discussed in advance. I am desperate for help and relief and have nowhere to turn. -------- Added Feb 4th: In response to Dr Lin's comment below. He gives patients a standard form (screenshot of applicable area below). Nowhere on the form does it mention or disclose chronic pain or PVPS (Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome) as a potential outcome. It does not even mention chronic pain anywhere. PVPS is a real condition that affects about 1% of patients who undergo this procedure. It has ruined my life and there's a very real chance I may never be the same. This potential outcome was never discussed or disclosed and that is, in my opinion, a failure at the most basic level for any healthcare provider. Dr. Lin has an ethical duty to truthfully disclose the realities of a procedure and the potential downsides. I never would have proceeded with this if I knew that there was a 1% chance I would be crippled with chronic pain. read more

I arrived to my appointment 40 min early, and I was the reason I wasn't taken back sooner because I wanted to take the time to read all of what I was signing. Doesn't even deserve one star . Dr Lin deserves to be reported to the medical board which I have plans on doing quite immediately. (It won't be his first time ) . My husband went in for a cystoscopy and his catheter was removed by Dr.Lin . We were both told he doesn't have a blockage so he no longer needs the catheter because cystoscope shows no blockage . When we went home about 4 hours later ( when his bladder became full ) he was in extreme pain . His bladder was full and he was not able to release his bladder . Called to office , staff says come back in 3 days if he can't pee try azo over the counter . If we would have waited 3 days my husband would be dead from kidney failure . Azo will not work for a blocked urethra . After a gruesome night of unnecessary pain we called first thing in the morning and went back to Dr.Lin. Who say my man needs surgery first off how does he need surgery today but didn't yesterday . How does he have a blockage that will not allow him to urinate today but not yesterday . Dr.Lin either read his images incorrectly or was reading another patient images . He constantly said he needs surgery as if it was the only option . Gave us no time to think about what's going on or no patient education to help decided next step. Just "he needs surgery " . Once I told Dr.Lin he's scheduled for radiation next week with another provider he said he's not getting radiation he needs surgery . Very pushy. I told him he's not getting surgery (at least not today and definitely not with Dr.Lin) . The assistant came back in and emptied his bladder she was very sympathic and understanding of the situation and also said he should have nvr left the office without his catheter if he could not empty his bladder before leaving the office yesterday . This is our experience . Dr.Lin please do not get under this post with your condescending remarks as you have done with others. You have caused great pain to my family and we are sharing an honest review. Lastly Dr.Lin has no bedside manners . If you ever experienced a cold Dr. than you'll know what I mean exactly. My doctor said I have high prostate levels and need an exam, so I called Sunrise Urology to schedule an appointment - not something I'm used to doing - definitely not something I want to be doing. My mother in law has been seeing Dr Lin for over a year and loves him. I have been to her appointments, from the moment we walk in everyone is the office is pleasant snd helpful. Dr Lin, himself has a wonderful demeanor you can tell he really cares about his patients he wasn't in a hurry, he answered all of her questions and concerns. I went to see Sunrise Urology after doing some research on Dr. Lin. I was looking for some possible remedies for my BPH, enlarged prostate. and he was the one I contacted. I went to the appointment and after the initial exam, he said I had a small lump on my prostate that he recommended a biopsy. I agreed. That is when things really went downhill. He gave me an antibiotic to take before the biopsy and one to take after, one pill each. The biopsy went OK but after I had a terrible infection from the procedure. I spent two trips to the emergency at Mercy Gilbert. The second time I was admitted with a fever above 104 and was completely out of it. The hospital immediately started me on a different antibiotic and eventually did get rid of the infection, The infection was a raging e-coli infection. The doctor did not at all inform me of the risks. The second issue is that I spent 5 days in the hospital receiving massive amounts of antibiotics intravenously. My wife informed the doctor the first day I was in the hospital, and do you think he cared enough to come visit? Not a chance even though his office was only a couple of miles away. I never heard from him again until I went in for the follow up to discover I did not have prostate cancer. Since then, I have received two calls from his office wanting me to come in for another procedure. Not a chance. He does not care about his patients. read more

Never once did he offer "I'm sorry.", "Are you ok?", "Sorry about that." When I called to cancel my biopsy, they did not even ask 'why'. I took the time to tell them anyway. PICK ANOTHER UROLOGIST!!! I went in to have an abnormal bump looked at, and they said it was fine and it would go away on its own, but they said i needed to have several procedures done for my urinary system (which I did not come in for nor thought I had any problems with). After $1500+ for procedures (extremely painful and done while you're awake, and no type of numbing or paid medication given at all), they determined I needed surgery. I was not prepared to have surgery for something that I literally was just told was a problem; but they insisted and had me sign consent forms for surgery. I did not go thru with the surgery (as I went in for a bump, and now I need elective surgery that I never even mentioned?) so he prescribed me medication. After 6 months of taking the medication my urinary system was now not functioning well, so went back in to have them tell me I needed to have the surgery to feel better. I scheduled the surgery, had the surgery yesterday, and now have been in severe pain for over 24 hours. I called about the pain during their normal business hours yesterday and told they would get a message to him. He never replied, nor called anything in. The office lady said she would follow up with me first thing in the morning, and no one called. I called back and they said they would send him another message. 4 hours later they call me and tell me tough luck with the pain, as he doesn't prescribe pain meds. Good luck if you see this guy, as he said about 2 words before the surgery, and then never came back to check on me (nor any of his office staff). Have a feeling there are much much better urologists out there that can meet your needs and hopefully don't try to talk you into something that you never complained about in the first place. read more

My appointment with Dr Lin was fine. He was courteous. Listened. And I thought did a fine job. Nearly $200 for the visit but that seems normal for a specialist. He ordered a ultrasound but due to my schedule I had to go outside his office to complete it. This is where the 2 stars comes in. The radiology place I went found that he ordered redundant procedures to the sum of an extra $300. My tech caught the issue before the ultrasound and had their billing office fix my charge. Dr Lin will not discuss results over the phone. Even if results are negative and nothing is wrong with you. That's an extra office visit charge for him. I had them mail my results and will find someone else. He's not getting any more money. read more
