Finally BBQ done right! I moved to the area in 2014 and immediately started seeking out the best local cuisine. Wifey and I were displeased with the local selections and going to Tampa or Clearwater is not realistic for lunch or dinner. I have traveled the country and world with my job and I have become a BBQ snob. Ive enjoyed Memphis dry rubs and Kansas City/St. Louis burnt ends. Ive had the best brisket Ft. Worth could offer, and the most tender pulled pork Carolina can produce. So needless to say Sonny's is to BBQ as McDonalds is to burgers... is it edible? Certainly, but so is most dish soap. We went to Marker 48 to grab a beverage and check out the scene. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and good brew (I only tried one, so I cannot pluralize it). We were getting hungry so decided to check out the food truck. I am a miser and don't like just tossing money around... so when it comes to 'que I always start off by asking "what is good right now?" ***When it comes to BBQ, everything takes time and a good pit master will know what is the best cut of meat at that moment... sometimes an 10 extra minutes on the ribs will mean the difference between tender and leather... let the pit master make a recommendation so you're getting the best bang for your buck, you won't be disappointed, you can write killer reviews about it and they can make lots of money in the future.*** She recommended the brisket; I ordered the platter with the original sauce (on the side), collard greens and cole slaw. The brisket was done perfectly and sliced to a perfect 1/4"width. It had a mellow smoke flavor with a nice salty dry rub. The meat was pull apart tender and the overall flavor was a great blend of natural beef and BBQ technique. The experience took me immediately back to Ft Worth, TX eating at Risky's... until I'm able to compare side by side, Barbie's is tied for the best brisket I've ever consumed. The collards and cole slaw were on point. Collards were subtly salty with a hint of vinegar but the actual flavor shined through. Same with the cole slaw; the cabbage was the star of the show and was tastefully accented by other ingredients. So if you like to drown your bbq in sauce and cover up the natural flavor of ingredients with salt, mayonnaise and other "cover up condiments" you may not like Barbie's and need to stick with the Sonny's of the world. Finally some good barbecue! We have been coming up for 2 years to the area to kayak and looking for good barbecue afterwards. We have been disappointed several times that the place the locals recommend always closes at 2. Thank you Yelp! We finally found this hidden treasure and I couldn't be happier. We had the chicken platter, a full rack of ribs, mac n cheese, and collard greens. Now I know what you're thinking, collard greens are disgusting. Normally I would agree but these were so delicious I wanted more. My wife tried some of my chicken and said she didn't know chicken could taste so good. It was perfect. It took me two times to spot the 'truck' as it is perpendicular to 50 and the first time my GPS had me do a u-turn - logical since I had passed it, but then insisted I had arrived! At the medical offices across the street...but Wednesday we went back and had a great time between Barbieque & the Marker 48 Brewery right next to it where you're welcomed and your barbecue is delivered right to your table in a terrific relaxed atmosphere despite the seriousness of good food and good brews. I went with the three meats to get an across the board variety and my friends played it safe with a half chicken - I think everything comes with your choice of two sides and cornbread, and 4! Choices of sauce. Pulled pork and chicken were both terrific, the brisket was a bit dry but rescued with the yummy 'hottie' sauce- sweet was too sweet for me and original was ok; looking forward to trying the hotter one next time and the ribs, too! BTW- the cornbread is epic - dense and good for pushing food around - scrumptious with the real baked beans. Best were the people at both counters, out at the food counter and inside the brewery- everyone! I am a terrible person about the beers as my 'brew' palette is pretty non existent, but they have plenty of 'em and found me a nice midday beverage that was really good with my meats - there are sodas and such too if that's your choice. Came to check this place out for the first time. Drove from Tampa, heard some good things from some friends. Place was closed when we showed up 5 minutes past 12 pm, waited for 10 minutes and no one showed. Hours are subject to change based on demand and availability. Brings the consistency, freshness and quality of food into question. Some of the best brisket I've ever had. I could cut it with a fork. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They came over an took my order because I couldn't leave my computer at the bar. This stuff was pretty dang good. Today for lunch I had the PigPen with a side of collard greens and corn bread. The sandwich was great, really good bread and some great pork and coleslaw on it. The BBQ sauce was excellent. I had put some jalapeños on top and that really made it great. Now the collard greens were decent, they definitely were like my grandma makes em, but still they were delicious. The corn bread was excellent, good way to finish off the meal. So I'm a bit of a BBQ fan and I'm very familiar with Hernando & Pasco's BBQ offerings. These look to be the new guys on the block. I have to say, after a few hungry visits, we're pretty impressed so far. The ribs were really good - right amount of bite, and not falling apart and mushy - if they have them (as another Yelper mentioned, we also missed out on them on our first visit :( ). Pork is moist, as is the brisket, with the right amount of bark included (for my tastes anyway). My BF tried the chicken and said he really liked it. All of the sides I've tried so far have been just as solid. Prices seem right on par, staff was friendly and helpful. Let's hope they stick around. read more

So tastey and delicious! We had the 3 meat combo - what a great way to give a bbq joint a spin! And of course u can't just have meat so add on to that...fresh cornbread, green beans with ham hock, baked beans and creamy fresh mac n cheese. These all made this one of the best bbq experiences i have had in ages! The sauces were very tasty and freshly made. Service was great too, pleasant and fun staff. Pull BBQ sandwiches are usually okay at restaurants but this place blew my taste buds. My wife and I ate here and every bite was delicious! The sides were fantastic as well. I am a very picky eater...and if you are too...then try this place because you will love this food! We tried sides of collard greens, mac n cheese, and corn bread. All delicious! After I ordered our food to go, the gentlemen working there asked what vehicle I was in and brought it to my truck when it was done so I didn't have to wait outside for the food to cook. Super nice! I felt that was the correct decision because it was the best barbecue I've ever had. I never know what to get so I got the meat combo which came with brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Mac and cheese and Cole slaw were my sides and they came with tiny corn breads. If I have to say anything bad about the meal it was those.
