Lamb chops arrived tuff, when I alerted the server he told me he could not take them back. Customer service wise, I wish he offered to at least have the kitchen remake the order. Came here with my two friends last night. Servers took our order, got our stuff, then we never got service again. We had been waiting for someone so we could get the check, and even waved down a server and requested service, but servers were only interacting with those they knew personally and ignored/forgot the request. I could feel their judgment through their interactions with us, because we stood out from the crowd. They were literally interacting and socializing with every other table except for ours. Very disappointing. Also might I add, we only ordered an appetizer, water, 2 main courses and a hookah, and the total order came out to $100+. Only go to lava if you know the servers personally, otherwise Pasha in the tenderloin has better service and will treat you like gold. read more

I came for food. Food is good! Tried the grilled kofta kebab plate which came with hummus and salad and yellow rice. I appreciate that It's a good size plate! The meat was flavorful and delightful. Chicken wings were crunchy and yummy with a sweet glaze. Baba ganoush dip came with lots of pita. You can get a mix plate which had a variety of meats if you want to try it all, good choice! There are two sides of the venue, left is superrrr casual for eating and has some nice murals. Absolutely horrified at my experience at Lava Lounge. At first glance, the establishment has great vibes: low lights and lots of seating. We walked in and waited quite some time before we saw someone to seat us, let's call that strike one. They use QR ordering at the tables so we found our selection and placed our first order. Our hookah server came by & asked us if everything was okay and offered us beer or wine as this wasn't on the actual menu, he wasn't aware of what type of wine was offered, strike 2. Not only did our order take a lifetime to come out but our beer was forgotten twice. As a joke I started a timer to see how long it would take to receive our last drinks. The timer stopped at 50 mins, strike 3. Overall, wouldn't return as service was subpar; hummus sampler was good though. read more

He offered a different soda, and just randomly brought out a hookah flavor we didn't ask for. I understand, maybe they just ran out of everything. We order a refill on hookah, mind you you have to pay first, then wait for them to actually look at the orders. Waited 20 min, asked server to check.. he proceeds to bring everyone walking in their hookah. We wait another 20 min , nothing. Second visit, hot tea takes over an hour to arrive. All whilst reminding servers we ordered different things. Attention to customers is horrible. Wasted time and money here. Food was surprisingly the best part. Love this place! Customer Service, food, hookah, and ambiance are amazing!! I hosted my partner's birthday here on a Thursday night and it was easy for the group to order their own things without having to split checks/calculate. They even put the birthday cake in their fridge and served it with a huge flaming candle with happy birthday music! So thoughtful! They are open late and last time they let us stay longer. No alcohol allowed inside (drink beforehand lol). I'm sad I didn't get to experience Friday nights (there's a live DJ and belly dancing!!) but we will be back soon! read more

Chicken, lamb shish, shish-kofte were flavorful and tender. The shawarma meat was the same as the one in my salad, so it was dry. However, the rest of the plate was very good! 4/5 I believe they have two menus. One for hookah lounge area and one for their dining area (shish-ke-baba), because their prices are a little different. It's a bit confusing, but roughly the same prices, plus or minus a dollar. This is a no frills, semi-fast food type of spot. We came to Lava Lounge and Grill on Saturday evening for dinner, and our first impression was actually very good. The atmosphere, music, and overall concept of the place are great. You can tell that a lot of effort went into the interior design and vibe of the place. We ordered the appetizer sampler, chicken kebab, beef kebab, wings, and four beers -- two when we arrived and two with dinner. We were also planning to finish the evening with hookah. We arrived around 8 PM and planned to have beer while waiting for appetizers, then slowly move to dinner and more drinks. Unfortunately, our plans didn't work out at all. After we sat down, we received nothing for about 30 minutes, even though the server said the food would come in 15 minutes. By nothing, I mean absolutely nothing -- no water, no beer, no appetizers. After about 30 minutes, the server came and told us they were sold out of beer and needed about 8 minutes to go buy beer. On a Saturday evening, they had no beer at all. After about 40 minutes, they brought all the food at once -- both appetizers and main dishes. We were very hungry and ate the sampler, which was actually pretty good. However, by that time we still had no water or drinks on the table. When we started the main dishes, all the proteins were extremely salty. The chicken kebab and beef kebab were almost impossible to eat, and I have a pretty high tolerance for salt. The wings were also very salty. Maybe beer or even water could have helped balance it, but we had no drinks, and the only employee -- who was acting as server, host, and hookah guy -- clearly didn't have time to properly take care of tables. By 9 PM, we still didn't have any drinks. The server offered us wine, but wine would not fix extremely salty food or our thirst. We literally had to go to the store across the street, buy drinks there, and come back. At 9:10 PM, I told the server we were done with food (we only finished the sampler and wings and barely touched the kebabs) and we ordered hookah because we wanted to see if maybe this place is worth coming for hookah at least. The hookah arrived at 9:16 PM, but it was cold. They had just put coals on and brought it straight to the table. It produced almost no smoke and was impossible to smoke. We ordered watermelon mint, and honestly the tobacco quality was very poor -- no flavor at all. At 9:30 PM we finally received our first beer. To summarize, as someone who understands both food and hookah, this is not a place where I would come back for dinner, and unfortunately it's not a place where I would come back for hookah either. I understand that food is not always the main focus in hookah lounges, but I really hope this place improves, because the concept and atmosphere are actually very nice. I don't know where to begin. I made reservations over the phone, got there and no one was present to seat us so we seated ourselves. We ordered around $200 or less of food, drinks and hookah. Someone brought out a plate of food, put it on the table next to us, then came back out after he realized it was for us and takes that same plate and put it back on our table but we refused. They come back out with the same plate that was put on another strangers table and was asking us why we didn't want the food. After 45 mins, we ended up getting their wings - it was baptized in oyster sauce, I never had anything that salty and foul in my life. The chicken shawarma was decent, and the chicken kebabs were super dry. Not to mention, our 2nd hookah never came and the person dropping of the food to us was definitely high or on something because he didn't give us plates, utensils, water or knew the answer to anything we asked. The worst part is that we paid via QR code before anything arrived at the table so we could not ask for a refund or talk to anyone because no one was present there. We ended up leaving and left all the food there. It was a nightmare and I still think I was getting pranked because everything went wrong. Zero cleanliness or regard for food safety. Come here if you want horrible customer service and even worse food. read more

We did take out from here a few nights ago. Great quality, flavorful proteins - chicken, beef, lamb - and tender. Super tender. Quality ingredient = quality offering. Prices are absolutely reasonable especially given the high quality and expertise. Each of our plates had hummus and really good baba ganoush. Some roasted chili, cups of tahini and harissa, as well as warmed pita. A couple of baklavas were great, in fact the chocolate one was freakin crazy. Like food orgasm good. Sorry. We were looking for kunefe while in Pacifica, and this place came up. Wow, we ended up ordering lamb kebab plate and chicken kebab plate. Hussein, (great chef and service runner) was preparing the fresh rice, so he served us free walnut in-house made baklava. What a treat! Then we got the kebab plates: babaganush, humus, pickled red cabbage, roasted tomatoes, rice and 2 generous kebabs. And then the freshly made kunefe, and hot tea arrived. I used to drive to LA once a month to experience an indoor cozy atmosphere with authentic Arabic food and once this place opened up there was no need for me to go to SoCal anymore or Vegas. Joe the owner is a very nice person he always checks in on all his customers frequently: The best hookah; now they've got their own brand for hookah it's unlike anything else. Bowl here lasts forever and doesn't lose flavor quick like anywhere else. I am one of those people that really care about comfort the couches are estremwly comfortable and you can sit on them for hours. They have the best... I'm gonna paraphrase that. Joe and Andy go out of their way to bring you a great experience at Lava. The place is very friendly and the hookahs are amazing. They are more than willing to assist you with any flavor preference you desire and make sure it meets your standards. I like how simple the place is and the fact it is in indoor lounge is a plus. The lighting sets the mood in the place and being able to listen to music in the background without it affecting having a conversation is peace of mind. You find your seat and scan the code on the table and from there you are able to order your hookah, drinks and food. I'm a big fan of their Shawarma back home style wrap and their Lava Mixed grill. They are very generous with their portions of meat from chicken and beef skewers, kefta kebab, chicken/lamb/beef shawarma... Not to forget their delicious baklava varieties from original, Oreo and Jam flavored bites of heaven. Oh did I mention they also serve a refreshing lemon mint drink that will blow your mind away?? I get off work late so there's limited options. Luckily, I found out that this restaurant has late night food available. I ordered the grilled kofte kebab and my friend ordered the hummus with bread. The meat had the perfect crisp and flavor, and the bread, rice, hummus, onions, pickled cabbage, jalapeños and grilled vegetables were perfectly paired with it. We sat in the lounge area and it was so cute. There are neon signs and textured wall perfect for taking pictures in. Husain and his coworker were so kind to us. He gave us complimentary baklava.
