They weren't sure where to go, so I quickly yelped bars and this one popped. Very much my group's style with the old school r&b and hip hop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drink prices above were reasonable. I got one round and my friend got the other one. Each round averaged 3.5 drinks and about $41.50 each. $52 each with tip. Nice place to hit up if you're it the neighborhood and looking for a night cap of sorts. Stopped in for a quick drink and was a nice find. She sat without a drink for over 15 mins and not one word. Waited til I finished my second, paid the tab and left. If the goal is to keep only regulars coming back, congrats, you hit your mark. There really isn't much going for Daly City in regards to nightlife. Nick and Nora's is the only bar that bucks that trend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have great cocktails, stylish decor, friendly bartenders and nice clientele.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Usually when I come in here I have a little bit of trouble choosing what to order. While I love their Old Fashioned and Manhattan cocktails I usually go for their Smoked Jewel which is deliciously smokey,sweet and citrusy. This is the only bar I'd recommend in Daly City that's worth your while. read more

There aren't too many bars that serve unique cocktails in the Peninsula, but my friends and I were lucky to visit Nick & Nora, which is conveniently close to us for nights we don't want to travel too far in to San Francisco. The vibes are very chill, with a couple of booths for groups and seats at the bar. It's a bit dark inside, so it will take awhile for your eyes to adjust to the dim lighting. Some nights there will be DJ's playing, and sometimes it can be quite loud where it's hard to have a conversation with people. The bartenders are welcoming and friendly to every customer. I ordered the Silk Road, and it automatically became my favorite drink to order there every time I visit. It's not spirit forward and it's satisfying to drink. I have tried Pink Skies which is a close second depending on what I'm feeling. I do hope they can do a little rotational menu of their cocktails eventually so I can try something new, and also some little appetizers to accommodate the drinks read more

Nick & Nora is a relatively new cocktail bar in Daly City near the top of the hill. I visited for their happy hour (daily 5pm-6pm) which included $3 off everything. I originally thought it started at 4pm but the bartender corrected me, so the website is incorrect. There is a long bar counter as well as small and big tables throughout the entirety of the interior. ASTA'S ANOMALY ($14) - this was really easy to drink and is the perfect spring or summer sipper. NAKED AND FAMOUS ($14) - this is one of the classic equal-parts cocktails similar to the last word. It was smokey from the mezcal and slightly bitter from the aperol. It usually doesn't have orange bitters but I thought it worked well in the drink. PALOMA CALIENTE ($14) - this was your typical paloma with a spicy twist from the firewater bitters. If you like spicy drinks you'll like this drink. NICK'S NIGHTCAP ($16) - this drink had big smokey flavors from the laphroaig. This is a great drink if you're a fan of peaty scotch flavors. NEGRONI ($15) - I watched them make this drink and it looked like it was pre-made in a bottle and then stirred for dilution. It was a solid negroni but I think the volume was a little less than I would've liked. ESPRESSO MARTINI ($14) - this was your typical espresso martini and was good too. I liked this place so much that I came here with a group of six the day after and I had a good time again. I met Mike, the owner, who was very pleasant and accommodating. Usually, finding a great bar means a nightmare for your car, but not here. The location at the top of the hill is convenient, and unlike most spots in the area, parking availability was actually a breeze. (There's free parking directly to the right of the bar). While browsing new bars to visit on a weekday through Yelp, I stumbled upon Nick and Nora, and I'm thrilled that we decided to give it a try. We indulged in an espresso martini, dirty martini, pink skies, and the Silk Road. Each a delightful handcrafted cocktail presented in a pretty cup with pretty garnishes. The drinks were expertly mixed, providing a satisfying experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly welcoming. Guiding me through drink selections based on my preferences. The ambiance has dim lighting. There's seating at the bar, in booths, and at tables. I'm eager to return on a DJ night to soak in a lively night. I am officially sold. This place used to be a dive, but they've invested a good amount in here to make it friendly, cozy, and modern. The walls have been redone, the lighting is new, and the fixtures are all new. There's a super long bar area and plenty of booths and counters as well. Service is great, and their happy hour is $3 off everything. Honestly, it's kind of a steal, and you get to bring in food from neighboring restaurants. We were here on a Friday night and it wasn't super packed. You could still talk to your friends and watch whatever was playing through their regular broadcast networks. Will be back! read more

Cute little bar with 1 large booth and 2 smaller booths for groups. The drinks are all fairly standard. During the holidays they have an xmas tree up. There are parking spts on the streets to either side street of the bar, but they can fill up pretty quickly. Here's where I'm slashing stars: It wasn't all that busy of a night and they brouh in a DJ to blast music to the point where I couldn't hear the person next to me. The music only got louder and louder. Pretty sure the other large group left cuz they couldn't hear each other and our group promptly left before midnight for the same reason. The DJ had good music selection, but there's no dance floor here so there's no reason to be blaring the music that loud that you have to scream at the top of your lungs to talk to the person literally next to you. Came to Nick & Nora on a Saturday evening around 6pm and the place was almost empty except for 2 other customers. As the evening went on, more people started coming in, but the place never got packed, which I appreciated. Nick & Nora feels like a fancy downtown SF bar from the way the interior is decorated but is much more spacious and is actually quiet enough to allow for conversation. There are a number of bar seats, tables, and booths, and the bathrooms are also super modern and nice. They have a nice selection of drinks spanning cocktails, beers, wines, and more. We enjoyed all the drinks we got except the wine, but we were given generous pours for $11/glass, so not bad value. There was only 1 bartender working for the majority of the time we were there, but service was still very friendly and fast. Drinks are reasonably priced and quite strong. We had a great time spending a few hours in a relaxed, comfortable, modern environment. Will be back! read more

First time here and definitely not my last. Great selection of drinks and plenty of seating for a Friday night. Service was friendly and quick. You have to go up to bar to order but they deliver to your table. It wasn't too crowded so not sure if this was just a courtesy(?) . Tried the Smoked Jewel and the Paloma Caliente and both were made well. Strong and not too sweet. Want to return to try the Espresso martini. Hubby was happy they carried his fav scotch. BFF enjoyed her Pinot and her hubby loved the beer. But best of all, the music! Walking distance from home, this formerly grungy dive bar known as the notorious Cocktail Annex re-manifested itself onto the neighborhood recently with pretty dope paintings of celebrities (the Prince one being my favorite) lining the upper walls, the array of mixed cocktails on its alternating menu to go along with a good selection of beers, friendly bartenders, its astoundingly sophisticated interior yet warm & casual vibe and the impressively subtle old school Thin Man movie reference. what a difference a few years makes, indeed. it initially felt out of place, being surrounded by blue collar businesses and restaurants but has quickly become quite the buzz-worthy watering hole within the immediate area, even on weeknights, by the faithful DC denizens. outside food (hopefully from one of the nearby places) is welcome as are quadrapeds but its usually the well-behaved K-9s that bring their owners in tow. the Wednesday karaoke nights can get crowded with a KJ and his assistant having a truly unlimited and diverse selection of music available and a rare, actually well-crafted smash burger pop-up joint just outside the door on certain nights. another dj also comes in on Friday evenings, spinning current day to golden age hip hop and it appears that he takes requests. and as long as the invasive, unfortunately ubiquitous, hardly-ever pragmatic Frizko boracho-hipsters with their brazen & contrived political zealotry don't stumble in and take over like they have everywhere else up & down the entire span of the Peninsula, I'll be comfortably planting myself onto one of those cushiony barstools a few times a week. read more

My friends and I checked out this bar on a Saturday evening around 9pm and it wasn't too crowded. There were a couple tables with seating on the wall-side but no additional chairs on the other side so half of us awkwardly had to stand until an actual rounded booth opened up and we migrated over. The drinks were reasonably priced given SF standards. I tried the Pink Skies (4.5/5) which didn't come with a sugar rim but the drink itself was on the sweeter side so it was good without. The lavender side car (4/5) was on the sour side but I appreciated how the lavender was subtle and not overpowering. My husband ordered the Espresso Martini (4.5/5) which was prominent in coffee flavor and also the Paloma Caliente. The bartender who made his Paloma must've not tasted the drink properly because it was super sour. My girlfriend who ordered the same drink from another bartender tried it and agreed it was made wrong. Because my husband is too nice to speak up and I have no shame (lol) I went back to get his drink remade by my friend's bartender and he quickly remade it for us and it was much better (5/5)! (Thanks Garrett!) The music was good but on the loud side -my group had to yell for us to hear each other but a redeeming quality is that the bar is dog-friendly. They've done a great job refurbishing the space, and it's gorgeous inside and out. As the bar's name implies, the theme is Dashiell Hammett's "The Thin Man". They also have a great cocktail menu. My wife had I had a Paloma Caliente, spicy, and I had Asta's Anomaly. They were both delicious, and we could have stayed for a second round. I had to make sure it was so bad I would turn into a demon after a second ... well here I am at 1.5 havin a chill end of the night takin just catchin the vibe of this neighborhood bar.
