It was a cold day in Fairbanks so I was in need of an indoor activity. Luckily this place was around the corner from where I was staying, so I took a short stroll down the street. I'm not usually a big beer person so went with a flight and surprisingly loved every single one of the beers/ciders I chose. There's no food other than chips so make sure you don't come here hungry. The bartender was quick and attentive and also great at recommending other locations near by too! You know this place was incredibly busy due to the midnight sun festival and they did a pretty good job of kicking orders out and had great pours. They have a really cool scene and I really enjoyed my time there. Their online menu matches their wall menu and they ask you order by number to help facilitate speedy service. It's pretty simple once you know that is what they want. They have a great selection of beers from all over the place, with some good Alaska ones too. I'd give this place 5 stars if wasn't for one the staff, they broke glasses like 5 times and someone made a joke of it and they threatened to kick them out or cut them off. I get they were busy, but when you break glasses like 5 times, you've earned some razzing. Well lots of razzing. You broke the glasses, not anyone else. read more

Came here at the height of the Midnight Sun Festival, sat right at the bar, and received fast, friendly service and delicious beer. But the MOST IMPRESSIVE THING was the team of 3 bartenders and their barback. Jade, Claire and Arlette ran that bar like a well-oiled machine. It was like watching a ballet! I really like visiting this microbrew taphouse in downtown Fairbanks. They have a ton of local and Alaska microbrews on tap, so you can try a bunch of different Alaskan beers in one place. They also have a few other microbrews from other states and a couple international brews too. Their selection runs the gamut from sours and pilsners to IPAs to porters, so everyone is sure to find something for them. The staff was very friendly, and I especially appreciated how they serve right up to closing and then allow people to stay and finish their beer afterwards. The taphouse is open and airy, and there's a small outdoor section too. I'll definitely be back the next time I am in Fairbanks! read more

This is a great beer bar for locals and tourists alike. There are a lot of Fairbanks and Alaskan beers on draft, plus a great complement from the Pacific northwest and elsewhere. There is a funny smell right when you walk in -- some cleaner, perhaps. But you acclimate to it and it doesn't get in the way of the beer flavor. So if you do walk in, stay a while. The humans are friendly and the dog is even friendlier. Flights are reasonably priced. They have a non-alcoholic root beer on tap. And if you're a lunatic, you can get Coors Light in a can. We had the unfortunate experience of trying to be seated for dinner for four on a Sunday night. It was a long wait for our table so we tried to sit at the bar to wait. The not so brilliant hostess/manager said if we did it would put them over their capacity of 10 max at the bar. I was unhappy and left, only to return when my wife said the hostess/manager hadn't even counted the people at the bar. Kinda ruined the evening. The food is good at Lavelle's but the management, lack of wait staff and overworked bar tender make it an unpleasant experience. They don't care. read more

After our day of sight seeing we were looking for a place to have a beer. Two of the first places we went to were not what we were looking for so we found Lavelle's. WOW! What a great place. We had really good cold brews and sat outside on the patio while enjoying the conversations with other patrons. There was lots of seating inside and the selection of beer was nice. If you are visiting Fairbanks and need a place to enjoy a cold beer and good company, Lavelle's is the place to be. read more

Lavelle's gets a 5 star. Why not? I don't mean to be harsh but Fairbanks can be hit and miss for quality options. These guys do a great job. I have been in here a few times over the years and it is consistent. Let me tell you what you get with these guys: you get a great selection of beers and a nice bunch of people serving it in a comfortable bar. Patio out back when the weather is nice. Constantly rotating beers displayed on TVs give you a good description of all the good stuff. Friendly good spot in downtown Fairbanks. A destination for sure whenever I am in town. It's worth a mention, I have been adding this to all my reviews lately, for what its worth to you. These guys are masked up and keeping clean. They are doing a good job trying to keep staff and customers safe during this craziness and I feel like we need to support all these small businesses that are open now so they can be here and ready after we get out the back of this pandemic. The beer here is good. They have a lot of taps and the staff are friendly. They have a nice patio/beer garden where you can look up at the defunct and somewhat creepy Northern Lights Hotel. The evening we decided to visit, the patio became populated with loud and foul-mouthed patrons who clearly had too much to drink before their arrival. This, while not necessarily the fault of the house, could have been managed better and certainly diminished our experience. read more

Friendly spot downtown. Quiet early on a Tuesday afternoon: not sure how it goes later in the day. Large menu of beers, tasting was encouraged to find a suitable glass. I ended up on a gose that was very tart with the addition of lime. Refreshing, but the gose funkiness was masked by the lime. Slammed packed on Saturday nights! They had tons of beer options and even a few wines for all you wine lovers out there. I am personally not a fan of beer at all, but that night I tasted their Sour Berry beer - it was sweet and surprisingly fantastic. I had never enjoyed the taste of beer until that moment. There were quite a few places to lounge around and hang out with friend or make new friends. Their beer and wine list is ever changing so theres always something new to try and love. It's my first winter in Fairbanks but there was a middle-aged man who looked like he could be down on his luck, shoveling a path for customers like he was clearing his way to salvation. I was glad I didn't have to concern myself with slipping thanks to this man's dedication and heart he put into it. I'm not sure what his compensation was, but he went at it with fierce intensity. From Ciders to Coors Light to Local to world class brews from the Shelton Bros Portfolio there shouldn't be anyone who walks in and can't decide on what to drink. Great place to come try out some beers if you're a craft beer snob like myself. They also have wine, but no liquor. Bartender was super friendly and they play chill music. Definitely geared more towards the 20 something crowd and early 30's with their music selection and decor. I liked that they also had couches in the back to relax and watch tv or play games from their personal game selection.
