The mood and ambience of the green is fabulous. I love the small restaurant vibe it feels private and up class for Fairbanks. Now the greens is a bit pricey but if your looking to go out with your bou it's a great place to get a nice meal with a glass of wine, but call and rsvp in advance. I had a pesto pasta with chicken and tomato's. The noodles were delicious they tasted homemade as they were soft and flavorful compared to your packaged noodles (as it should be for the price). The chicken was tender and the sauce was delicate and not overly garlicky. My only complaint would be is that my water was never filled, but they continued to ask about alcohol which I'm not a fan of. read more

Never thought to go to the golf course for dinner! It was great, was by myself so sat at the bar, made friends easily (but that's normal for me). World Cup was on so that was fun too, with two screens at the bar - enough for sports fans but I wouldn't call it a sports bar. It was busy for a Tuesday night; there was lightening on the course which closed golf down. Had the Gorgonzola papperdelle with steak and it was incredible. Tonight was our first and only night staying in Fairbanks and I am so happy I saw this place when looking for a restaurant. 6 of us went in and a waitress said she could seat us if we didn't mind waiting, which we were grateful for because it was just amazing! For appetizers we got 2 plates of the garlic shrimp and the pesto flatbread. Everyone who eats shrimp enjoyed it so much and the butter sauce was the best thing ever. The flatbread was crunchy and flavorful. Entrees were Salmon, halibut x2, chicken parm, Alfredo with the crusted chicken, and steak bites. All the dishes were seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection, great temp, and just made the overall experience with each bite! The Alfredo sauce was the best thing ever and the gravy with the steak bites was so rich with flavor. Those who got drinks also enjoyed them! My hubby really loved the bandon dunes martini (I took a sip and it was dessert in a glass lol) If I could give more than 5 stars I would! It was such a flavorful and wonderful experience at Greens. Came at 4pm on a Monday and no one seemed to want to serve me after telling me to sit at the bar. An off duty waitress, Bobbie, was nice and asked if "I was the to go order" after I sat there for several minutes. I said no- I just wanted a drink and a meal. Bobbie was polite, but after 10 minutes of the bartender and the manager with his computer talking and acting like I wasn't there I left. Keep treating customers like that and you won't stay open long, Greens. I was told this was the next best thing to Lavelles and would disagree. Save yourself the drive. read more

I wish wish wish Yelp had half stars ! I'd most likely give a 3.5. The place itself is pretty small but we were seating quickly and didn't even have a reservation! The hostess and server we had were also both very polite. Our server was new but she did a great job and was very personable. It's only 3.5 because it really is pricey for some of the eh things. I was conflicted because the entrees were AMAZING, clearly well seasoned and just cooked right. However all the sides were boarder line inedible or just not tasty at all. Seems like stuff fluctuated in taste but overall compared to some of the other places, I'd definitely recommend coming for at least a nice burger or steak no sides. read more

This spot offers beautiful views of the golf course and has a spacious, open feel. We started with the Gorgonzola Flatbread and absolutely loved it. The entrees were generously portioned and satisfying. When we visited, the restaurant wasn't crowded, but the service was a bit slow and the staff could have been more attentive. Clean restaurant and super cute artwork hung up. I tried my friends burger and bomb ass French fries that she ordered which was way 1000x better than my steak dinner. My steak was cooked perfectly but they need to seriously consider seasoning it better. The mashed potatoes seemed like box mashed potatoes, which was also disappointing. I would have hoped to of had home made chunky mashed potatoes. The veggies were ok, too many mushrooms in my opinion and not seasoned super well. read more

Chef, please educate your staff. To be blunt. They are menu dumb. No idea about sauces, ingredients, struggling with opening wine bottles, zero education on wine pairing. The food was good! My chicken parmesan had a very tasty sauce and the salad was good with a nice grilled chicken. I would recommend they do some cleaning - tons of dead bugs on the windowsill and the gray things hanging from the ceiling are covered in dust. read more

This is the golf course restaurant, previously known as "The Edge" and "Frostbite on the Loop". The new building looks impressive from the outside. Ambiance inside feels clean, but kind of sterile. We arrived at 6pm to meet with a group of pals. As we all began chatting, you realize that the acoustics in the restaurant made it rather difficult to talk without raising your voice. Oddly loud but there wasn't music being played. All the wines, regardless of type/price, are served in universal wine glasses. They are small, durable, but thicker, which picky wine drinkers may not prefer. We ordered lots of different dishes but the star item was the appetizers. The scallops were very large and succulent but the purée underneath them was quite bland. The shrimp were also large, with crispy breading and mango sauce was delicious. The halibut on my entree was tiny in size. The fish over-cooked and under-seasoned. The 2 spears of asparagus on the plate were cooked perfectly however. I wish I'd had more of those. The chicken parmesan was sad, with water pooling under the pasta. I felt embarrassed that my restaurant manager and food enthusiast friend was served it. For dessert, the almond tart was dry, and the brownie was rock hard, no one was dazzled. Overall the expense was overwhelmingly not worth the quality and taste of the food. They also do not offer draft beers -- ouch! Conclusion: Fairbanks lacks quality restaurants, and this place has the potential to fill that void. We will be back in the summer perhaps, to try a cold beer on the deck. Hopefully their issues (growing pains?) will be sorted out by then. read more

Came here for our Anniversary dinner, was very good. We had scallops and bruschetta for an appetizer and steak and seafood scampi for dinner. We also had a chocolate brownie for dessert and some blueberry cheesecake which was phenomenal. The food was very tasty and we even had leftovers to enjoy for tomorrow. The restaurant itself was very clean and our server was amazing. Totally recommend. The portions were really good and made the price worth it. We went to Green's Bar and Grill for a small personal celebration evening out. We didn't think we'd need a reservation with it being a week night (Wednesday). We arrived around 6:00 pm and saw that there were only about 2-3 tables occupied. Within about a half an hour, there were no available tables so we truly lucked out. We ordered drinks and asked for a minute more with the menu - note that the menu is a bit different than the one on the website. Asking for a bit more time was a mistake. We ended up sitting and waiting to place our order for some time - 15+ minutes. We contemplated just leaving but since slow service is pretty typical in the Fairbanks area, we just sat and enjoyed the view. There were a couple cross country skiers on the trails so it was nice to just relax and stare out doors. We chose to start with the Seared Scallops. They quickly arrived - 4 of them sitting atop a dollop of mashed potatoes, olive oil pools and dots of balsamic. The sear on the scallops was impressive. The amount of balsamic was a bit over powering but it was easy to avoid. My partner was not fond of the seasoning on the scallops and we soon found that it was also used in both of our entrees. I got the Pappardelle with Gorgonzola sauce and had it topped with steak (which also had the seasoning). The pasta was over cooked and swimming in sauce which might not have been so bad if bread had been served (or was an option) to sop up. The tomatoes were sweet, the spinach was sparse and the steak was very tender and tasty. It was the better of the two meals. My partner got the Alaskan Halibut with the mushroom and scallop sauce. The sauce and mashed were cold and the fish was overly fishy tasting and coated in the seasoning she disliked. Such a disappointment. She picked at it but we primarily shared my dish. We decided to skip dessert. It'll be sometime before we go to Green's again. read more

This place has been just okay so far, though I'm hoping that it'll improve with time. My family has frequented the various incarnations of restaurant in this location, from The Double Eagle to The Edge and Frostbite on the Loop. This is the most upscale restaurant in this space yet, but it falls flat. We've now been a couple of times and the food has been disappointing on each occasion. The mashed potatoes were a gloppy mess of mashed and large chunks (not to mention cold) during our first visit, and the halibut was over-cooked. My son's burger was under-cooked during our recent visit, and the fries had no salt. I also ordered a burger the second time around, which did not arrive as ordered and also had woefully under-seasoned fries on the side. Wine was served in in warm glasses, and no one checked up on us for a refill. This is such a great location (though I agree that some acoustic issues need to be addressed!) and could be a solid dining option on this end of town with the right menu and food preparation. Having lived in the area for 10+ years and frequented every restaurant that's opened in this spot, I can honestly say that I don't believe pure fine dining is the way! This spot works best with a family-friendly menu offering options ranging from robust salads, sandwiches, and burgers up to seared fish and grilled steak. I miss being able to pop in after a ski on the golf course for a simple BLT and draft IPA, while also knowing we can come in for a filet and bottle of pinot on date night. Fingers crossed that Green's finds its groove and we can once again have a solid, all-occasion dining option on Farmers Loop! read more

The best part of the experience was the appetizers and they were even served cold. The cheesesteak sandwich had Italian spices on it so more of spaghetti spices then Philly cheesesteaks should have. Fries were cold on the plate to. Waitress was in her own world. Barely refilled our drinks and we had to walk up to the bar after waiting 15 minutes for her to get a shot. Heard good things. I arrive in the restaurant and the front desk person tells me that they do not have any available tables for another 20-30 minutes but he can't guarantee it. I said whats the point of a reservation? He said yes I'm sorry everyone here just says yes. Another 2 people came in and they said they same thing to them and they also had reservation. It was supposed to be a great experience for my kid turning 14 and a family dinner. I then asked him if he can call me once a table is ready and he said okay he will try. Decided to come to greens for breakfast on a Saturday. However they only serve brunch on Sundays . Food for thought ! The breakfast is just as good as the lunch and dinner . Definitely worth trying. However the service was horrible. Poorly greeted at the door. Servers yelled across dinning area "sit wherever you like". The server dropped menus off at table. We waited 10 minutes to even get water and my water sat for another 25 mins because I wasn't given a straws. When given the straw the. Waitress touched the open straws with her bare fingers. The waitress walked away every chance she got. Even when I was asking for a straw. I sat in greens at total 40 mins before even being served. After putting in I ordered an appetizer the appetizer took 30 mins. I attended greens at 11:20 am on July 22nd . Only 3 tables inside the restaurant including mine. So we had a reasonably tasty dinner at the Greens. The food was good but the service was pretty awful. They put us at a table next to one with 5 (often screaming, throwing things) kids, and the acoustics in the dining room are LOUD. The waiter spilled red wine on me and my husband, and did not offer a comp for the wine we ended up ordering, despite the stains. It took an hour to be served that glass of wine. The steak salad was good but I ordered medium and it came very rare, I had to send it back. Overall, an average to below average time at the Greens. They should create an acoustic-friendlier atmosphere or kids section so the screaming does not affect the expensive dining experience of everyone else. read more

That appetizer with a side salad was enouugh for a small meal.. I had a Rib Eye Steak. A touch on the rare side when I asked for medium but edible. This was easily the worst Rib Eye I ever had. Not a lot of flavor. Absolutely loaded with fat and sinew. Budget cut of meat at a premium price. Really disappointed. Ate about a quarter of it before I gave up. Trying to turn the left over into soup but not sure even that issuing to work. Bad enough I doubt I will go back or suggest this place to friends. read more
