The place was pretty busy on Friday night but we were able to sit at a table upstairs. They have some good deals on draft beer but the drink tasted like it was a little flat. read more

If you are looking for a very cheap dive bar near downtown Fairbanks, this might be your place. The drinks are stiff and the prices are really, really cheap. However, if you aren't a regular and a local resident, you may or may not actually want to visit. They basically ignore tourists, and I had to get a local to order for me because the bartender wouldn't take my order. Because of that, I can't give Midnite Mine a very high rating, but two stars for the stiff and inexpensive drinks. read more

This is a review for the bar downstairs., not the upstairs brewery. The doors are at the back of the building- the one on the left goes to the upstairs brewery area, the one on the right goes to the main bar downstairs. This is one of the diviest of dive bars I've ever been to. Perfect! We were there around 3pm on a weekday and it was just us and a few regulars (the bartender knows what they want without them having to order). The bar is dark, there are neon signs and tintack signs all over, and names carved into the tables and walls. There is a pool table and fooz ball, but we had brought our own deck of cards to pass some time. The beers are in cans and bottles (no draft). We each enjoyed a Twisted River IPA from Denali Brewing. There is also a Touch Tunes juke box so you can play your favorite tunes. read more

Loved this place. Dart boards, pool table, and even fussball. It's cash only, but there is an atm if you run out. You do have to give them your ID if you want darts. The juke box is super cool. App based and loads of music to choose from! I was surprised they only had one beer on tap, a hefe which I'm not a fan of. But plenty of other beers in bottles. read more

I have been here a few times now and have always had a good time. The bartenders have been kind and security had also been really chill, even when people are being turds. It's a rustic old bar feel and there is always a few of Fairbanks finest prospectors there. Just waiting for some of them to start doing a jig. Used to love the Minister Mine especially in Summer after ball practice. Usually had iced mugs & cold beer, snacks on the bar, cool humid environment, dark and essentially underground. Haven't been there since 76 but great memories. read more

Great local brewery with locals and local culture. Bartender Erica was excellent and played music from multiple generations. A classic place to visit in downtown Fairbanks. I wouldn't call it a dive bar but it does have a tavern feeling, which we loved. read more

If you want a Fairbanks bar full of character, this is the spot. Draft beers were a buck more than a couple of other bars. The cocktail special, a blueberry cosmo, was basically pink lemonade with vodka--I'd stick to the beer. Best part was excellent people watching and eavesdropping. Glad we stopped in. read more

After we hit Mecca for a couple of beers, my friends suggested that we try another dive bar. That was a brilliant idea - Midnight Mine is a ton better and has a much calmer vibe. Maybe that it's in the basement of the building. Regardless, I was much happier and felt a whole lot more secure. After a round of beers, we played a few rounds of pool on their 75¢ table. Darts? Probably not a good idea after as much to drink as we did. If the dog is here, that's the show right there. When you give the dog a dollar bill, she brings it into the bar and puts it in a jar. She then returns to you and by this time, the bartender has given you a doggie treat to give to her. It's a pretty cute little gig she has going on - there was a good $50 in that jar! This is the best bar that I went to in Fairbanks..hands down! It is "underground" and has a cool cave feel. There is a sandwich shop upstairs, so you can get your munchies on if you get hungry. Prior to an 8 hour trip home, I stopped in here with my son to see what the local brewery had to offer. Every beer I tasted was dead on to description, well done and standing out in their category, all at once. Cori was absolutely fantastic in serving us, very professional but more personable than most. This brewery has a feel of an attraction with the attention and welcoming of a dive bar. Seems like everyone knew everyone and would be the perfect place to call home if I lived in fairbanks but when it comes to the overall quality, this place doesn't serve food, limited in alcohol choice, nothing on tap, and one of each game so if you get unlucky, you'll end up finding some game hogs. read more

If you're in Fairbanks, stop by this good little dive bar. BRING CASH because it's cash only, and the atm in the corner charges a $3 fee, which makes your PBR rather less of a bargain. I've come here a few times with coworkers, and we've always had a good time. Booths are small, and the bar stools are always full, so if you have a big group (more than five or six), expect to stand. Beer is served in nice frosty mugs, which is appreciated. The owner's dogs (and patrons' dogs too) are often to be found mingling here, and one of the owner's dogs can take tips from you and bring them back behind the bar (no joke). The walls and ceiling are covered with chalk messages, and you can always ask the bartender for chalk to add your contribution, if you can find space. If you're too dressed up, expect funny looks (when a group of us in work clothes came in the first time, we were asked if we were lost). read more

First of all, I am not a huge bar-hopper, I rarely go out to bars because its just not my deal, but I can dig the Midnight Mine. Never had any troubles there, but if your Military stay clear, there is a sign that reads very clearly "No Military Allowed" which is a good thing for the locals, because sometimes we just don't want to spend our time dealing with drunk marines, no offense, but sometimes we just wanna be amongst ourselves. Nothing wrong with that. First of all its not a large bar by any means, pretty tiny actually. But its got that cozy pub sort of vibe, theres plenty of booths, and a wrap around island bar that has plenty of seating. The waitress I dealed with was fairly nice, she gave me a free drink or two in between the drinks I already bought and I tipped her for the favor. Theres a few pool tables, dart boards, theres a upstairs with a small kitchen where you can buy yourself a burger if you want. Never got in a fight, never anyone I couldn't handle, no covercharge. I was in Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights before they go into hibernation for the next 11 years...stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. Both those nights I found myself at this bar. This bar, kind of sketch from the outside. Really sketch actually. My friends and I were creeped out to enter but they have a giant "enter" sign near their doorway which ensured us that we were going in the right direction. You climb down some stairs and are instantly hit with warmth, the smell of cigarettes, and the sound of chatter at the end of the staircase. It's literally an underground bar, like a mine cave! It's pretty dive-y...but I feel like it could pass as trendy or hipster. It has a theme after all, and a pretty young crowd...but reality is it had a good mixture of folks and wasn't just college students. I'm gonna peg this bar as more hipster though. The bartenders are awesome and are clearly having fun while they "work". Shoutout to the cute bartender who drives a Subaru! He definitely made my friends and I feel like we were regulars just after spending an hour there. I love that they have the bell, which I haven't seen in LA at all but in a few Alaskan bars. Got so many drinks paid for. This was probably the busiest bar I've seen in Alaska (like 20 ppl on a Thursday night?!) no complaints, I love the intimacy and hate crowds so this bar rocked. They played good music for the most part, and had a pool table, füsball table, and darts for games. My friends and I spent time here before heading out on the road to see the lights. It was so much fun and I will definitely miss this place as I head back to LA! read more

The only thing they are mining down here are large women, drunk eskimos and sulfur... because the place smells like a used port-a-shitter that has sat out during a summer in south eastern Georgia. It's a nice, simple bar in Fairbanks that is the after, after place apparently. The bartender was attentive, the beer was cold, the clientele colorful, and they have a popcorn maker.
