Breakfast was very good -- the food itself was excellent. The atmosphere, though, made it harder to enjoy. The rock music was pretty intense for a morning meal, and we were seated in a tight cluster with people on both sides of us. Our booth kept bouncing whenever anyone moved, and I found myself doing some positive self‑talk just to stay in a good mood. I assume the seating pattern was for staff convenience or to keep things organized, but it did affect the experience. Great food, but the environment could use some adjustments. read more

Being from Pennsylvania (about 40 miles south of Philly), I had to taste the cheesesteak! I was not disappointed....it was surprisingly delicious (even with the shredded cheese). The sweet potato fries were amazing as well. If they had brown sugar on them...that would've taken them over the top. A few of my coworkers asked about the salt and vinegar fries, so the owner surprised them with a small sample of them and we all we amazed at how delicious they tasted!!! We stopped into Fenders for our first time on a late Saturday morning. We were worried about the breakfast serving time as I couldn't find anywhere when they stop serving breakfast. I forgot to ask as we were seated but when I slid into the booth, I saw the breakfast menu and sighed with relief. We chose the Hail Mary (2 eggs over medium, bacon, sourdough toast, hash browns) and a Breakfast Platter (2 eggs over medium, bacon, French toast, home fries). I asked for the hash browns to be well-done and they did a great job of that (crispy on the outside and hot and creamy on the inside). The French toast was a bit soggy which seemed as if it wasn't quite done all the way but it was still edible soaked in enough syrup (which was cold and would've been better warmed or room temp). So for the record I am feeling pretty proud that I was able to snap these photos before I dug in! It smells amazing! The Monte Carlo is perfectly heated, prepared and presented. I can't taste the Texas Toast that has been used as French toast. It is exactly the right sweet with a hint of egg to my stack of savory ham, turkey and swiss. Served with a beautiful marmalade in lieu of the typical "Monte Crisco" pink sauce. I have to think the home fries are made in a broaster because they are each perfectly browned and crispy outside. The mimosa flight was exceptional, all the flavors matched perfectly with my breakfast. Since I know you need a dig, here it is... the raspberry one was on the sweet side. My family and I are still new to the area and we've been looking for new restaurants where our family can eat without it breaking the bank. (With 5 people meals out get pricey) I found Fenders while searching for family friendly restaurants in the Fairbanks area. I saw the different kinds of fries and knew we had to try it out. Tonight we headed out to celebrate my birthday. We got in a little late with only an hour and a half until they closed and a sign outside warned of short staffing. But we were greeted warmly and shown to a round table very quickly. The menue is small, but there's still plenty to choose from. I hand the fender burger, my husband had the elk, one son had fish tacos, one had the pulled pork, and the youngest had the same as me. We were not disappointed. The burger was thick and juicy, the fries fresh and crisp, and the seasonings for them were amazing. Even the buns were better than we had anticipated. At the end I ordered a slice of cheese cake that was nice and we got a birthday brownie that was huge and moist and delicious. The best part is the price was so reasonable! We paid less here than at some other restaurants that had less quality food. We've definitely found a new favorite. read more

It is not very often that I will give something a perfect score, however after going here two nights in a row, because the food was that food, I decided they have earned a perfect score. The food is probably the best I have ever had in Fairbanks. I realize that is not saying much, because the food in this town is often nothing special, how ever it is not just the best I have ever had in Fairbanks, it is some of the beat food I have ever had anywhere. I like to wat out and try new foods. I try the local food everywhere I go. The first night i had the Cajun Fettuccine and Chicken and it was Amazing . The chicken was some of the very best I have ever had anywhere. It is either tied for the best that I have had, which was in another state , or comes.in close second place. The chicken was amazing, but the pasta itself was also fantastic! First bite and I was already in love with my food. The cajun spices were awesome. Everything was perfectly blended together perfectly. My friend had the up all night burger and he kept saying ( while still eating it) how good it was. He loved it. Last night I had the War Pig. A juicy piece of pork smothered in a very rich flavorful bbq sauce stacked on top of a fresh cooked to perfection piece of chicken. Now for the appetizer. We had Hand made Mozzarella cheese sticks with home made marinara sauce. They were both absolutely fantastic! Just talking about this food makes me want to go back right now. My friend ordered the Mac and cheese as an add on and he let me try some. It was some of the best mac and cheese I have ever had. Now my other friend that came the second night, his meal was the I think called the fire bird. It was a spicy chicken sandwich with fresh jalapenos on it and some pepper Jack cheese. He absolutely loved it. I tried his queso cheese dip and it was very good. Now that I am done describing the food, let's talk about the service. Both nights the waitresses were super friendly and professional. They did not mess up the orders, they checked up on us often but not to the point of annoyance. We had the opportunity to talk with one of the owners (the husband) last night and he was super cool and fun to talk to. I really enjoyed our conversation with him. He talked about his foods and the process his 2 head cooks and him went through to create the menu. He gave all the credit for the good food to his cooks, very humble. He was super nice and super chil. Very nice guy. We were there until after they closed both nights. They did not care, they just talked with us and made sure we enjoyed everything. I wish I had taken a picture of the cajun Fettuccine and chicken. If I can get a picture of it I will add it on to my review. This food is so good I want to go back for a third night in a row. Another hole in the wall in Fairbanks. The outside is a little discouraging and doesn't look open. Keep an eye out for their open signs all around the windows. It's not a big restaurant, and it could use some furniture updates and better lighting. However, the food came out fresh, and our server was on point. If you don't like to wait for your food, this is not the place for you. Our daughter ordered jalapeno poppers, which were overcooked, so the server came out to tell us and brought her some fries so she could eat until a new batch was made. I have to say this is a nice place to eat. We had the hamburger soup, naked wings with sauces on the side, the Philly cheese steak, and the deep fried pickle, banana pepper, jalapeño combo for the appetizer. The food was delicious. The only thing I really wanted to mention that is helpful for new visitors coming in. Is that if you like corn on the cob plane order it that way because otherwise it comes with butter and garlic. I loved it, however, it did belong to my husband, but he's not a big fan of garlic. Our waitress Terri was delightful. I love eating food around people with such good personalities. read more

There has been such major improvement in The quality of food, I was truly amazed at how everything that my party got was great. I have found the best breakfast i have had so far in town. A diner called Fenders. The rock and roll theme was pleasant, reminiscent of a 50's diner with a modern twist. The eggs and hash browns are cooked very well. The bacon is crispy but not overdone. And the buttermilk pancakes taste as excellent as my grandfather's did to me on a Saturday morning. The service was excellent, the wait staff and bartender friendly and kind. However, the steak I ordered was possibly the worst steak I've ever had in my entire life; the steak wasn't seared at all, I asked for the steak to be medium rare and it came back well done. Today my husband and I witnessed you complained to the store owner that the food was nasty and it took forever to get the food. And you said you are not going to ever come back. Clean and inviting atmosphere, BUT a lot of hype for lack luster food. We ordered with a traditional burger and a French dip. Burger was dry and the aïoli sauce had a strong after taste that was very distracting. The gravy that came with the dip, tasted more like flour paste than au jus. We ordered the Cajun spicy fettuccine, kids Mac n cheese and two appetizers the fried pickles and the queso dip with chips. Over all 2/3 out of 5 for me. Nothing had flavor and nothing was hot, luke warm. The food all came out looking great. Service was amazing which is something Fairbanks lacks. Very good service. There wasn't a wait our food was served shortly after we ordered which is another thing I was confused how our food wasn't hot. I'm not a fan of the decor but I'm not eating that so personal preference Fried pickles were the best dish out of what we ordered. I didn't like the aoli they came with but the server was happy to provide ranch. The seasoning/ breading lacked flavor. I liked the mix of jalapeños, banana peppers and pickles. The portion was large easy to share with 3-4 adults. The queso dip wasn't hot, again luke warm and lacked flavor. It had a good consistency but didn't taste like anything. It almost seemed like the velveta white dip but very watered down. The chips were also thick chips similar to ones you might get with nachos at a concession stand personal preference but at a restaurant with dip I want restaurant style chips. Thinner, salted, fresher. Kids Mac n cheese. The consistency of the sauce was good but again lacked any seasoning. Was served with some type of sweet roll not the bread stick as listed on the menu. Again luke warm. The noodles were over cooked, I like the extra minute and not ala dente but these were a few seconds from that mushy point. Spicy Cajun fettuccine. The sauce was a good consistency but again no flavor. I was really surprised because this menu item said it was spicy but was extremely bland. The chicken seemed maybe boiled? A good size of chicken and it looked seasoned well but also had no flavor. Also came with a weird sweet bread roll. Everything lacked flavor, the sauces had great consistency but I think they are adding too much flour and maybe that's why nothing had flavor? Disappointed overall. It's unfortunate that this is our Fairbanks standard but of course in a few months we will give them another try. read more

Tacos were ok, fish was cold, avocado was... weird... slaw was good. Mozzarella sticks would've been better if they were brought out hot...
