I was disappointed when the halibut tacos were brought to me. I literally laughed when I saw the size of the fish!! They were the size of the fork with 2 full size chewy corn tortillas for like $18. Perfect stop for us as we transitioned from traveling to the start of our stay in Fairbanks. I had a French dip sandwich with a really good green salad. I regretted not ordering a bigger salad and just skipping the heavy sandwich. My husband had a burger and very average fries (frozen, not fresh potatoes). The burger was good and hefty. The service was fine--it wasn't busy, and our food came out quickly. The atmosphere was average bar interior design--nothing stood out as exceptional or as glaring. This was a great meal! We stopped in while the parking lot was being redone, so it was pretty quiet inside. We got a nice table by the window and the server took our order right off the bat. The food was ready quick. The burger was amazing! Cooked well and the toppings were tasty and fresh. The only downside was that it was huge. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting! The fries were cooked beautifully and were seasoned well. The coffee was good but it came in an odd glass... I'm old school... give me a normal coffee cup! Great meal, great service! I was having one of those days where I really didn't want to cook so I ordered take-away food from Red Fox. I called in my order and spoke to CJ. She was so friendly, and very patient as I told her my order. I got 6 wings, a chef salad and a cup of soup. When I arrived about 20 minutes later everything was ready. I noticed CJ waited until I'd gotten there to ladle up my soup so it stayed very hot. I'll just say the wings are some of the best I've had in Fairbanks. They are CRISPY. Thank goodness! I've had a fair share of wobbly skin wings in my day but these are far from it. The size of the wings I got this time were average, but not huge. The habanero bbq sauce was sweet but not spicy, although the Buffalo sauce is very spicy! Moving on to the chef salad, I'd requested an add-on of blue cheese crumbles and ranch as my dressing. To be honest I didn't like the taste of either :( the crumbles tasted stale or old and the dressing did also. I'm a ranch connoisseur and this one is pretty bad, like a generic brand bottled kind (ranch enthusiasts know what I mean). The rest of the salad was fresh, but I wound up using one of my own dressings I had at home. The star of the show was my humble little cup of soup. It was tomato bisque and it was phenomenal. I wish I'd ordered a tub of this. It was velvety smooth, seasoned perfectly and had that great acidic tang of fresh tomatoes. Will be keeping The Fox on my radar next time I'm in the mood for fresh hot soup. I am a little confused and sad that no one told me how good the burger at Red Fox is! I hear people raving about some pretty dry burgers around here. I went for lunch and ordered the classic cheese burger with tots. My burger was not over cooked nice sear on the outside and perfectly warmed through. The stacked pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onion where fresh and crisp. The bun was so soft and toasted just right to hold up to the burger. I put mustard and ketchup on it but it really didn't need anything. The cheese was melted but not greasy or dripping. I enjoyed every bite! The tots were crispy and tasty as well but there was not enough room to finish my plate. I will definitely be back for lunch. read more

Love this place! Went here for some pool (after their league play was finished) and ordered a few beers and some food. Was pretty easy to secure a pool table and way less crowded than anticipated despite some chilly weather. Our waitress was super friendly and understanding (I had recently lost my voice from a cold and she was really patient with me having to whisper my order). This place is also pretty fantastic food-wise for a bar. We got a salad, chicken finger basket and tots. The Caesar dressing was perfect - thick and creamy - just how I like it. The chicken fingers and tots were all crisp and tasty, and they were generous with the sauces we requested. The only thing I think they could do to improve is to add a little seasoned salt to give those tots a kick. All and all - a solid, fun night out! I'll definitely be back. read more

This is a pretty solid place to grab a drink on the weekends. It's nonsmoking which is a HUGE plus for me, they have incredible bar food and my drinks have always been on the stronger side. It can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, I wish there was more room but really they can't do much about that without removing some walls. read more

Last night, 8/13/18, I called to order a pizza. I told the girl what I wanted. (Simple order: medium Greek) She stated that she would take my order "in a minute." I waited for 11 minutes. I called back and told her that I was still trying to place my order. She said that she was the only bartender and that it would be "a few minutes." As I waited I heard her chatting with customers, taking no the time to talk about her personal problems. Then I heard someone ask if she needed to pick up the phone - my call - and I heard she say, "Nah, I'll deal with that later." While I waited, hearing her chat with other customers, my husband decided to go there and order the pizza in person. The bartender did not know him. I overheard him order our pizza. I then heard her take another pizza order from a customer who asked if it was too late to order a pizza. He had obviously just walked in. I decided to see how long I'd have to wait before she picked up my call. I waited for 46 minutes before I finally hung up. I immediately called back and told her that I had waited the second time for 46 minutes while she took other pizza orders that came in AFTER mine. I told her that I heard her take my husband's order. She responded with, "Hey lady, I'm the only one here!" I hung up. The pizza? Cold and bland. read more

Wow, had pizza and wings at Red Fox Bar and Grill tonight; fantastic! Best pizza and wings I have had in a very long time. We had heard that their food was really good; best pizza in Fairbanks. We couldn't agree more. We had garlic parmesan wings and chicken bacon ranch pizza. Both were delicious! I even ate the crust, which is not usual for me. Also, our waitress, Megan, was awesome! Well we walked in there last night to grab a bite to eat and have a drink. We sat down. Bartender was at the bar one waitress was at another table, other waitress was busy on her phone. We waited 10 minutes nobody acknowledged us, nobody asked us if we wanted something, nobody dropped the menu off. The beer in Alaska is always amazing! When Bud Light & Heineken is only in bottles and the local brew on tap, that's always a great sign! Great beer isn't how many you can down in an evening, but the flavor & character that defines a brew. Beer here is Arctic cold, served in frosty mugs, so frickin' frosty, beer's foam starts to crystallize and ice over, like taping the surface of a glacier and getting Alaskan Amber. Their pizza here remains supreme. Cornmeal dusted, hand tossed crust. We ordered their special that had a bunch of different cheeses, probably caribou or reindeer sausage and roasted veggies. It's been awhile, so the details are slipping. Yes, it's a divey smoking bar, but worth the secondhand cancer for the stellar frosty beer and pizza. read more

I was recently in Fairbanks with a few friends, and found this bar to be hang out spot for most young locals. They have pool tables, darts, video games, and a juke box for your listening pleasure. The drinks were good, and were moderately priced. They have food but the kitchen closes around 10p. The staff just like most people in Fairbanks was very nice, and made sure we didnt need anything. Very cool bar/restaurant. Staff is very friendly and very attentive to all our needs. Food was plentiful, fresh, hot and quickly served. There are 6 or 7 pool tables as you walk away from the dining area toward the rear of the room. Music was from a juke box and just the right volume to enjoy, but not overwhelm anyone trying to eat and hold a conversation. Not exactly convenient, but close enough to make the trip out worth your while. I will go back before I leave town. If you're here, you should stop by too. read more

We had a great server but the bartender named Kate was super rude to our server in front of us. She yelled at her and blamed her for all our issues. Our beers/drinks were late our pizza was wrong the toppings were accidentally put on the wrong sauce and the bartender would not comp our pizza because she did not think it was made wrong and actually asked for the server to bring our pizza back to the kitchen for them to check if it was made wrong. They checked it and admitted to making it wrong and it still took Kate 20 more minutes after the kitchen said it was wrong just to remove it from our check. She seemed annoyed with us because we waited forever and got our order wrong and she was busy and I guess we were causing a Nuisance by saying something. I worked customer service for 7 years and this was the worst service I have ever seen. read more

So I live near the Red Fox and couldn't be happier about that. It's by lower-48 accounts a dive of a sports bar, although in recent years they have made improvements such as the surprisingly zen outdoor patio and designated smoking room (now no smoking everywhere else). What makes this place great, beyond the friendly and overworked staff, is the surprisingly solid food. The pizza is especially on point (one of the best in town), while the wings and burgers (and salads!) are also solid. Weekend breakfast is also great. When I go to a restaurant and order American food, my baseline critique is: is this better than Red Fox? Mostly the answer is "not really." The take-out box fee annoys me slightly but the fact that this dive of a sports bar can offer such awesome pub food for dining in or out is so great that I do not care that much. Take my money. I like this place a lot. If you are visiting, check it out. It is popular with locals especially those on the west side of town. read more

This is my favorite place to go for brunch or afternoon wings. The country fried steak on the breakfast menu is on point with some over easy eggs. The wings are cooked until chewy which is how I like them. The waitresses are very nice, although they can be a little slow. However, I go there to relax so I'm in no hurry, especially since the wait staff at any other comparable place are usually super rude(I'm looking at you, Oasis). Bar-wise this place gets 2 stars but the pizza is to die for! It may be the best in Alaska and it's definitely the best in Fairbanks. I don't mind eating in once in a while so I can drink beer and chat with my BF but it's extremely smokey and usually kinda cold. The waitstaff tends to be disinterested but occasionally you get one that has a smile to greet you with. So my recommendation would be to call in and take out. The pizza is worth it and the price to food quality ratio is high. I'm not a vegetarian and I LOVE sausage pizza but I usually get the vegetarian with pineapple and jalapenos, SOO good!
